Hello!

Your phone is locked to a specific service provider? If this is the case, call to ask for the unlock code.

Another is that your device IMEI is blocked. Check with your operator.

  • Device of blackBerry Smartphones, sending text messages invisible to the unknown mobile number

Hi, just bought a unlocked 9360, having a strange, new problem in Blackberry, so be, permissions or something, but the device sends texts to a number of mobile which is not in my repertoire, recent calls or texts. My allocation of text on O2 came down, I changed to a Giffgaff sim and who goes down also.

I know that the phone number as Giffgaff sent me a list of numbers, the texts were out to and they are all the same one.

Sorry to be a beginner, if it's as simple as the app permissions.

    Amanda

Let's be clear. There are SMS messages are automatically sent from the device and you're not sending them? If this is the case, then now, follow these steps:

Turn off the mobile network radio. Perform a full backup. Do a security wipe. When you do the wipe of security, check the box to delete applications.

    See http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/KB14058 about security wipe.

After clearing security, do a selective restore of just your personal data. Do not restore settings or application data. But, if you can start from scratch and go do a restore, do.

Go ahead: set a device password and lock your device when you have eyes on her. Don't lend your device. Don't let anyone use it. There is a setting in the options to require the device password in order to install an application. I recommend that you enable that. Finally, be careful what apps install.

My best guess is that there is a malicious application on the device. Maybe it was when you bought it, maybe someone put there after you acquired it, or perhaps you have inadvertently installed. Cannot be sure. But obviously this is not something you want, at the very least, and you don't know what it is to delete.   This is my reason for the security wipe.

  • Options of locking/unlocking of blackBerry Smartphones

Maiden Post. Be gentle with me!

I'm here on behalf of a friend (he delivers my meds, so we can say that it saves my life), who inherited a BlackBerry Bold 9700 (I think) of his son. His son insisted on his setting a password (wise), but there now to unlock almost every time he uses it.

Is it possible to be asked for the password to the market, but not after that?

What are the choices are available? I skimmed the manual, but it doesn't seem to be much choice lock/unlock.

I saw 'Do call during the locking' but yesterday he wanted to add a phone number to contacts, and this requires a password.

We're both diminishes us in our 60s and on our stage, the need for security against ease of use...

    Hi Swiftie,

Welcome to BlackBerry community support fourms.

By default there is no option to set the password to powered only device. However, you can consider using 3rd party device app lock/unlock for this purpose.

Alternatively, you can try activation request PIN SIM that will require you on powered only.

  • Device of blackBerry Smartphones, password fails at the end of the installation OSv5 on 9000 "BOLD" - help!

I installed the OS on my 9000 "BOLD", to the latest version.

The process is almost entirely complete - unit recharged, and the progress bar to "Restore device data" seems to be almost complete.

But then I get a message "your BlackBerry is currently locked. To continue, you can unlock your device. »

So I enter my password on my blackberry and it does not - he thinks that I typed the wrong password.

I try 5 times with the same results.  Yes, I type the password correct even I had to use when I started the Fund Manager and the installation process.

The installation somehow caused my device to zero or change his password - how do I continue?

I'm afraid to unplug the unit, given that the upgrade process has not completed.

I'm afraid to enter the wrong password, since it will wipe my data from the device, and I don't know if I can access after installation to restore the only recent backup I have is one created automatically by the installation program.

Can anyone help?  What should I do?

My blackberry is associated with a corporate server, which can restore a part of my data - but in its current state, it is not activated with the server.

Don't be afraid to unplug your phone during an update.  This seems quite heavy but you can still recover your phone of the backup that was made before the start of the update automatically.  You might even find wise wipe the phone and restore this update.  My only concern is that he could not get rid of the password problem. It can install the password feature again and you would be away before.

I hope someone knowing the password function will have to intervene here to help.

  • Locking the screen blackBerry Smartphones.

Is there anyway to lock the screen of the blackberry storm? I use the "Phone lock" key but when ever part of my hand touch the screen turns on and remains on until fade out. so I was wondering if there was a way to make the telephone only answer by pressing the lock again button? and if not dose one know all third party apps that will do that? Thank you

to be fair, there also a very old version of the firmware, not sure how up-to-date is your operator. with a more recent firmware, you are likely to find better battery life anyway more since I've updated fom.141 (already more recent thanyours) the device is much faster too.

I live in a bad reception area and even though I'm a light user I get 4 sometimes 5 days standby. Its the best Ive had, by "BOLD" lasted 2-3 days in the same conditions. A Nokia N80 maxing out at 2 days as a P990i Sony did...

  • Locking of the blackBerry Smartphone screen/keyboard keeps activating while the phone is in use.

I have a Blackberry 9810 "BOLD" and the screen/keyboard lock feature is always activate itself, even when I'm in the middle to send him a text or using the phone. Yesterday, it happened while I was talking on the phone and he cut the call. I can't find an option on my phone to activate switch. How can I solve this problem, because it's practically what makes my phone useless.

    Hello

Well, first of all... No... no 'BB support' can answer you here. This is because, when they gave to you when you register on this site, this site has nothing to do with any formal support any. On the contrary, it is a community of users where volunteers try to troubleshoot other kind souls to the best of their ability. Unfortunately, no response would mean that anyone who took the time to read your post has something useful to you.

From what you describe, I would infer that there is a wrong application behave which interferes with the function of locking, or maybe your operating system is somehow corrupted, or maybe a combination of the two. What I recommend is the following:

    1. Reload your own OS and as "skeleton" as possible (for example, whatever it is optional, let power off)
    2. If the problem immediately presented, then repeat step 1, but with an OS different package... maybe there's a bug in the specific operating system you run.
    3. If the problem does not immediately, then run for maybe a week-long enough to be sure that the behavior will not occur.
    4. If the behavior does not after a week, add just one thing (just one... no matter how tempting it is to add more!)
    5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 until the behavior is, how well do you know the culprit
    6. If the behavior does not, then you know that reloading the OS or switch to another operating system package was the cure.

If none of this he healed, then you will have a physical hardware problem for which assessment in the hand by a qualified material is of course necessary. If you are under warranty, you seeking your warranty provider - normally your place of origin of the purchase, your provider of mobile service or one authorized service center (it varies by location, but you should have received the documentation at the front that tells you exactly how to use your warranty).

    Good luck!

The first two things to try are to restart your computer and perform a battery on your BlackBerry pull - while the device is on, remove the battery for 15-30 seconds, then reinsert and wait for the device to reboot.

  • Device Manager blackBerry Smartphones are missing from the phone

The Device Manager icon is missing from my Curve 8300. I suspect it might have been accidentally deleted. I need to change a setting, how can I get that back without my phone of stripping and reload the software? I can't find it in the Manager of office as an option to add on.

    Thanks in advance

    GOOSE

Well, you can not remove the Options/settings icon. You can only MOVE or hide it.

    Anyway... two options to try:

    1. with the BlackBerry device powered time, remove battery for a few seconds and then reinsert the battery to restart.

If it still does not appear, follow these steps:

    2. you set Homescreen shortcuts mechanism: to enable these shortcuts to work, you must have "Dial from home screen" set to "No" (go to the dialer (press the Green kley) > Options > General Options.)

Also note that you only need to press to get these applications - if you press the keys, then the appropriate number of speed dial is always composed.

Now, as the value, press the letter 'o' of the screen and your menu Options will appear.

  • Lock icon keyboard blackBerry Smartphones disappeared off the coast of the home screen

The keyboard lock icon was on the home screen until I installed the updates that have been sent to me today on my BB.  Now that the icon has disappeared.  Check the Section help and could only know how to lock or unlock the screen manually.  Check the instruction booklet provided with it. again without help.  Searched through the BB Curve Demo Online - still nothing on the addition of the back icon.  It was so easy just push this button and not to worry about the keys in my pocket or your purse... How do I get it back?  If I'm not back I won't install updated any longer because I found that I got ro reset things like I wanted to... moving icons of folders to the homescreen etc... Please tell me there is a way to get this back... just bought this BB in June and a first I possessed and it is difficult to do without... HELP BEGINNERS please SO that SHE DID NOT feel LIKE SUCH a "dummy" LOL - thank you in advance for any advice that gives me!

Hi and welcome to the Forums!

Looks like you have updated to the point where the locking function changed. In older versions, you had an icon on the screen. In the latest versions, you use the power on top of the BB button do a keyboard lock. To get the icon back, you must activate a device password... then you will have an icon for Active password lock. How it works now, and the only way to change this is go back to a previous version, when the change was made.

    Good luck!

  • Locking password for blackBerry Smartphones based on the time-out

Hi, new BB Bold and I have a password and can lock and unlock the phone.  However the phone automatically goes into lock down to 5 minutes.  Even if I set the Options-> the safety time of 1 hour option it hangs still in about 5 minutes.

What should I do about it?  The ideals?  The store said that I had to take a safety, go back to my computer, clean the phone and restore.  If this does not work I am to get a new phone.  Just bought a few weeks ago.

Hi and welcome to the forums!

You could try a battery pull above all

    drastic measures on your part!

No data will be lost when you do the following: remove the battery while the device is activated. Remplacer replace after one minute, let the device reboot 1-3 min, see if the problem is corrected.
    Thank you

  • Updates to device applications blackBerry Smartphones stopping automatic

I'm short of BlackBerry Desktop manager version 4.7 and when I sync I have an automated updates of device application check routine, which takes 10 seconds or more. Its irritating that it shows me the application device updates that I already have or don't want, and I have to go through the routine each time. Is it possible to stop it does this automatically and only check updates when I want? Thank you, Jon.

    • Go to the Control Panel and select Add/Remove Programs, then select BlackBerry Desktop Software 4.7and click the [Change/Remove] button.
      .
    • On the next screen, Modify should already be selected - select it if it is not, and click [next].
      .
    • In the next screen, click the down arrow to the right of the AutoUpdate BlackBerry and select this feature will not be available in the drop-down list.  A red X now appear to the left of the option. Click [next].
      .
    • The appropriate integration Option should already be selected. Depending on your choice, there may be one or two screens that follow. Just click [next] until you get to the window titled Install Options.
      .
    • Uncheck the box to the left of the check for software updates , and then click [install].

This should stop Desktop Manager to connect to the Internet to get the latest Vendor.xml which also prevents you from being able to install OS another carrier on your device.

A single note.  I haven't looked at it lately, but in the last tent to change a Desktop Manager installation may often fail.  This is because if you have installed by simply running the EXE file that you download from the BlackBerry site, it actually originates in your Temp directory and moved from there.  The MSI file to allow changes in the installation is supposed to be copied to another location-usually in a directory under Windows or Program Files, but older versions do not, so when you went to make a change in the installation, if the file has been removed from your Temp directory, it would stop and ask the MSI file and not be able to move forward until you point to it.

However, the EXE you download is really just a self extracting Zip file and can be easily extracted with WinZip or any other utility typical non-archivage.  Whenever I installed Desktop Manager, I have first to extract the EXE file to its final location and then run BlackBerrySetup.exe.  This means that the MSI will always be available when I need to modify the installation (which I am surprisingly often since I am also favourable blackberries to work).  In general this is not a problem with regular users, which is no doubt why the problem was never solved (at least as late as version 4.5 anyway).

  • Lock keyboard of blackBerry Smartphones (has *) and mute (unlock or day before) no longer works

I used to lock my keyboard by holding down the LOCK button (A *) and unlock by pressing the MUTE. The LOCK button no longer works

The Blackberry is designed to be reset by removing the battery while the power is on. Leave the battery for a minute or 2.

See if that solves the problem.
