Hello

"What to do if you forget your password Windows 8/8.1"

http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/what-do-forget-Windows-password#1TC=Windows-8

If you have forgotten your Windows password, there are several ways to recover or reset:

  • If your PC is on a domain, your system administrator must reset your password.

  • If you use a Microsoft account, you can reset your password online. For more information, see the Web to reset your password page.

  • If you use a local account, use your index of password as a reminder.

If you've tried these suggestions and still unable to connect:

  • If you have Windows 8.1, you will need to reinstall Windows.

  • If you have Windows RT 8.1, you will need to contact the manufacturer of your PC.

There are several approaches. I will recommend who should be very
    easy to use:

Buy a USB key (they are cheap) and put all the files
you want on it and remove the hard drive (including the)
the trash). Plug the USB in when you want to use the
files; Remove when finished it and keep the USB place
    inaccessible to him.

Make sure the USB is big enough for all files now
with a certain margin to add additional files.

  • Locking the computer on the lid close?

Microsoft will never include the option 'lock the computer' as an action to close the cover in their operating systems? The current options are only 'status quo', "shut down", "hibernate" and "sleep". People have asked for this year. It is very easy to do under Linux. Why Microsoft cannot accomplish this?
    1) go to regedit > HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SessionManager\Power
    (2) right click > new > DWORD (32-bit)
    (3) change the name to AwayModeEnabled
    (4) select > right click > change the value (hexadecimal) 1
    5) go to the Power Options settings page and change the action close the lid to sleep.
    It worked for me!
  • Parental control locks not computer after expiry of the period

I don't really understand this behavior to parental control. Parental control is useless if it cannot lock the computer or log off the user after expiry of the time. I noticed that when I expected that after time my child will be locked or logged on but to my surprise parental control didn't do. What is interesting, the deadline has been extended up to an hour more, and that extra hour at the end there deadline extended for another hour more! restricted user is 'standard user' where it can extend the time.

I'm doing something wrong? What can be the cause of this? Is this normal parental control feature. If it's normal, I don't really see the point of its use.

I found that my problem with users not been disconnected after an expiration time has been associated with the Gigabyte Easytune software. When I removed this software everything was back to normal. If children can ovveride delay if they have this software installed :)

Hello Mrs., I want to lock my computer if for five minutes, I do nothing. How can I do?

    Hi Sanh,

Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft Community forums.

I see from the description of the problem, you want to know how to lock the computer on idle.

I will surely you help with this.

I would suggest trying the following steps and check if it helps.

    a. right-click anywhere on your Windows 7 Desktop and select Customize from the context menu.
    b. in the customization window that opens, click on the screensaver icon in the lower right corner.
    (c) in the screen saver settings window, check the box on the resume, the logon screen.
    d. Select the number of minutes in the wait - spin box (5 Minutes) after the Windows 7 computer that would be locked.
    e. you don't have to select any screensaver for this to work. Click OK to save the settings.

FBI has locked my computer can't get like sandra, but my husband can get on.

    Hello Sandra,.

Yes, it is a virus/rogue who wont even allow you to open a session in Normal mode. But it is easier to remove when you are in safe mode with the removal tools.

    Try this automatic removal tool:

    Or use manual removal instructions:

  • does anyone know how to lock your computer using the option of locking on the menu closing?

When I press the windows icon there is a button closure with an arrow next to it, I pass my mouse over icon and another menu appears with disconnection, sleep.

Stop restarting and locking can I click on the lock and get a possibility to get an access code to be able to log in or keep someone else to connect?

    Hi Chris,

Yes, you can lock the computer. If your user account is password protected, so you will need to unlock the computer by using the same password.

By locking the computer with a password, you restrict other users log on to the computer.

  • X201T tablet - cannot lock the computer or press ctrl + alt + delete to the Security screen

    Hi guys.

Sometimes, when the X201T is in the mood not close correctly (and having the light of HARD drive shuts down for an infinite period of time), I find that I can't lock my computer with windows-L.  Also, I can't hit ctrl-alt-del to bring up the Task Manager.  Finally, I can't run any software which shows a UAC prompt, as consent.exe will be backgrounded and I am never offered the chance to hit Yes.

I believe that it is related to the central issue-that, for one reason or another, the machine won't let something to support the display.  Consent.exe would require half black machine out for the guest screen.  Lock would send you to the lock screen, and Ctrl-Alt-Del displays the Security Menu of Windows.

    I run Windows 7 x 64.

I installed the operating system from scratch, and I took care to follow the instructions in "installing OS from scratch" Lenovo on their Web site.  Entirely, I realize that the order of the driver and the software install issues with Thinkvantage stuff.

I do IT doesn't work and I have deployed a lot of laptops Lenovo to employees over the years.  I don't think it's something I am doing wrong, but you never know!

Just to see if it was a problem with my windows install, I reinstalled Windows yesterday, and I get the same behavior.

Sorry for all the posts, everyone.  As you can see, I have many questions.

    Finally solved this problem.

You must make sure that the following Windows 7 hotfix is applied:

Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit) update Module KB976755 (WW) - ThinkPad X 200, X 201 tablet.  You can get this information from the Lenovo support and download site.

Although the writing on this hotfix does not refer to this problem, this eliminated the problem for me.  I found that Lenovo System Update didn't install the fix.

My assistance spent a little time with the support of Lenovo to identify this problem.  My understanding is that the fix is included in the preload image Lenvo the camera comes with, so you will get this problem if you do a clean installation of Windows 7 and Lenovo system update does not install the fix.

  • installation of Sierra on MacBook - locked system & computer killed hard reboot

MacBook locked during installation of Sierra. Pressed the power button to a hard reboot and now can not initialize get only a message stating your computer restarted because of a problem of waiting to continue to go, but it keeps looping to the same Message and keeps trying to restart.

I put the installation disc in a attempted to hold the c key during the restart and the same thing happens

The installation disk will not help on a Mac running macOS Sierra.

Start your Mac while pressing the command + R keys.

From there, you should be able to use the built in utility to check, repair and restore the OS X disc using OS X Recovery.
