Locking mechanisms

Hello
Can someone explain to me please, in simple terms the different locking mechanisms available. As part of row, row exclusive etc.
Also if possible please let me know some good examples to understand these concepts.

Thank you

IMHO, it is very well explained with good examples of Concepts Guide 11.2: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e10713/consist.htm#i5704

    tmerritt, welcome to the forum,

There is no magic password. You will need to remember or find out who set the password, what is. This type of discussion is not allowed in these tips, you will have noticed in the forum rules. Passwords are security measures designed to protect a system and its data should it be lost or stolen.

"No post should not include instructions or instructions intended to circumvent security measures, including passwords, locking mechanisms, analysis of fingerprints, etc., nor are all positions provide a description of the location, or direct links to the content associated with these topics."

Sorry, but I have to lock this thread.

  • How would you do that? 2 case of a test station

I have a sequecne that works great stand alone, that now we want to add another test power to the system. It is not as easy as it may seem, here are the conditions and what we intend to do. I need to have either 2 instances of the running program or configure the sequence in batch or in parallel, but I'm a little confused on how to do it properly.

    Features of the system:

    • 2 - test fixtures with 24 pieces in each. The sequence works fine now with only one test. I decided not to do a batch with these 24 pieces because I have a single DAQ mx read for all of the object to be measured and there is no need to follow every 24 parts. they're all to fail.
    • The two test devices will use the same DAQmx device for measurements. Compaq DAQ with USB (device 1 is for the test set-up 1 and 2 is for the test set-up 2)
    • They share a DIO Board for some discreet signals.

    My questions:

    1. Socket 1 or 2 Socket may have parts on them separately. A my load 1 operator and not the other and start the test. During the test, they can load up to 2 and start it too. Both must run exercise but share the Compaq DAQ device
    2. How do you run the shared resource (lock during the measurement, semifore?)
    3. Is this possible at all?
    4. Can I run two instances of the same UI? It would be the ulimate. With 2 points of entry and 2 displays for the recall of the UI to write to.

Thanks for any input you can give me.

You can have several instances of TestStand running almost any version.

    Here are a few options:

    1. run two user interfaces and usage and asterisk to prefix your lock names (for example "* DAQmxDevice").  This lock will then share in all of engines.  In fact all steps of synchronization may use the * to precede the name of share it across engines.

    2. create a custom with 2 managers running user interface and then 2 sets of views of implementation on the front panel.  When they execute you can somehow indicate the file in sequence (with a UIMessage) whose execution were fired off the coast.  Then, he will know which set of DUT it is testing.  Use of the * tip for your locks.

    3. what you should be making use of the parallel model.  It takes care of everything in your needs right out of the gate.  In other words, the user can run what socket they want from the parallel dialog box.  Use the normal locking mechanisms.  I've attached an example.

You will get the best performance and control of option 3.  Suffice to say.

    Summary of the requests:
-You guess my design appropriate, if the need arise to scale upward even further.
-How can I improve conditions of potential competition in the data record.

I work in the research of catalyst, where I support about 100 scientists, which includes the construction of automated test systems. I have a joint Bachelor's degree and 5 years experience professional in electronics and software engineering, including 3 years is LabVIEW Development.

I can bounce around ideas of electronics on the site, but as I am the only software person, I was hoping that some of you might take 10 minutes and my general software architecture review.

The platforms have usually several pieces of fixed material, usually in the form of:
    -Hardware DAQ USB of NOR
-Eurotherm controllers (Controller Mini8, 2000 series, 3000 series) on RS232, RS485 or TCP.
-The material is not relevant, because I communicate with them through OCP
-Other instruments RS232/RS485, communicate through NI VISA.
-Other USB instruments, communicate via directx or device drivers, and al.

An execution will generally last more than 12 hours, and so they need be sure to leave unattended. Generally, this is in the form of hardware locking mechanisms, because I do not trust do not lock down the computers. In addition, it means error real manipulation in software rather than appear an error message on screen

I love my modular software designs and abstract (although never to excess). Each hardware device is handled in its own class data structure; The values are read, stamped and recorded in a shift register. Values are constantly compared to safe operating limits. The only time where an external level, or senior VI is called from the controller is a configuration during initialization data structure. Actions can be sent to the device controller via a queue. If a value is outside the safe operating conditions, special condition is sent to an alarm handler via a queue.

Fortunately, experience can often be arranged in a sequence of steps configurable user. This takes the form of an array of clusters. The cluster instance stores set values for temperatures, dwell time, States of the device and so on. When a sequence step is advanced, the set values are powered by queues to each device controller. It all works fine and dandy.

A higher level than, the test runs can be put on hold a user will put a sample in the rigging, log on to the system, create a sequence of the series of tests and let him get on with it. I would also add sequences and execution conditions are recorded on the disc, so if the PC crash, things can become operational quickly.

Regarding the interface user; That's it, that is. None of the screws in the user interface deal with the operation of the platform. Changes to the user interface are written to the data structure of file config, directly on the device controllers, Manager of alarm or a controller of various processes. The readings of the displayed user interface have a set update rate, which queries data of each device controller

At the request of scientists, all data that may be stored, is recorded at a frequency set by the user. Once the log file reaches a number of lines, it is closed and incremented file name continues. This is why they can be imported into excel, or to relieve pressure on a computer, data processing. Each iteration of newspapers, data are queried from everywhere where the readings are taken.

I think I have a stable, reliable and safe way to build platforms, but I remain unsatisfied with my methods I've tried to present data to the user and save the data. Given that the data is either read from a number of sources, I want a good way to keep reasonably synchronized data. (Reasonable being less than 50 ms) Temperatures, pH levels, pressures, motorized actuators and mass flow controllers fluctuate enough that an accuracy of more than a few hundred Hertz will count (though oversampling and smoothing occur inside the controller of the data of / on the device).

My current method creates a temporary Notifier and adding to the front of the queue. On the next iteration of the device, he's jumped out of the queue and the last value in the buffer is returned by the notifier to the calling function. I support this action engine; because as there is no easy way to tell when to take a reading, whenever the controller of the machine took a reading, it was necessary to update the engine of the action. I'm still unhappy with my method under querying data, because I can't guarantee that the new values have been updated in the device controllers when the section of data logging queries data. This can even cause the same value to be connected. (Race condition) This problem still persists with a motor of action.

    Just a few ideas:

    * time stamp each reading

    * Instead of logging the time stamp of the file, you can trigger an old flag 'data' or similar. I think that the Protocol of the OPC has a flag that indicates how new and recent is any value. Maybe you want to copy from this standard.

    * In this case, I would just read the data via a notifier of broadcasting all the time instead of notification of recall temproary. The journal (or other) just browse the list of notifiers and takes the most recent value.

  • extension for Canon 6 d tube

Hello, I'm looking for an extension tube for my Canon 6 d. I found a few different brand offering a set 13, 21 and 31 mm sets. They don't specify if they support the auto focus. I would have preferred a set that support of the auto focus.

Do you have a suggestion? Thank you

The tube macro set that includes the rather odd size 13mm, 21mm and 31mm made by Zeikos and sells a whole bunch of different brands (Bower, Vivitar, Jessops, ProOptic and many others). There are two qualities of these tubes, one with metal bayonet comes up and a less expensive version with plastic bayonet rises (as have some kit lenses). The bodies of these tubes are plastic and they support control AF and openness. All the facts for Canon will be fit very well on the your 6 d EF mount (someone with a Canon of harvest/EF-S camera will have to take care to buy later versions of these that support this mount if they want to use with the EF-S lenses, some more before those who do not). These tubes to sell for less than $100 US (the bayonet plastic are often closer to US $50). Three things worry me to their subject: they seem not very durable, I've heard some reports of their cracking over time. Release latch is a little beyond and can be accidentally pressed. And I've seen a few reports of them "frying" the circuits of the Canon 5 d models. The latter seemed to be very isolated cases and 31 mm tube seemed the culprit. I have not seen all the reports of problems with other Canon models.

Opteka is doing a set of tube which is similar in construction - plastic body with mount bayonet metal - which also sells for less than $100 USD, but includes more traditional formats of the tubes of 12 mm, 20 mm and 36 mm. They also support the AF control and openness. The release button is slightly off, but I haven't used these and can't tell if it's much better that the tubes Ziekos (etc.). They are a relatively new feature, so only time will tell how sustainable they are.

The Kenko tubes set's metal body and metal bayonet mounts, more comparable to the tubes that Canon are available (but only individually). Kenko all contained 12mm, 20mm and 36mm and sells for about $200 US. Older versions of this set (labeled "CA/AF") are the only mount EF lenses. Current version marked ' CA/AFs' (note the small 's') is used with the EF and EF-S. Of course, either will work on 6 d and EF lenses. The Kenko tubes also support the AF control and openness.

Canon offers only individual tubes: 12 mm and 25 mm. The older original type are EF. The current 'Mark II' are EF a EF-S compatible. The construction is very similar to the Kenko and totally supports the AF control and openness. Indeed, Kenko also offers individual tubes in the same size. Both the Canon and the Kenko use a release button recessed enough that it is difficult to accidentally fall. Currently, the Canon tubes sell for about $85 for the 12mm and $140 for the 25mm.

Finally, there are macro extension tubes really inexpensive who do not have electronic contacts to provide the AF control and openness. They are usually all metal construction, use different locking mechanisms and sell for less US $25 (sometimes even less than $10). Sizes included in a set usually are 12 mm, 20mm and 36mm.

To be honest, who doesn't not AF during macro shooting is not really all that big a deal. It is often easier to focus manually blows high magnification. I often switch off AF and several of my macro lenses are put to manual focus only. Focus you by moving all camera and lens more closely or to keep him away from the subject. The lens ring, kind of serves more as a zoom, defining the degree of expansion. The fine adjustment of the development is done with the movement of the whole platform. This can be done by hand, or there are tools such as the stages of macro development prevail. allowing that with a high degree of accuracy... or with a lens that has a tripod mounting ring, if you use the Arca-Swiss quick release system, it is possible to use a plate of extra long lens like a development of "slider".

More of concern is the ability to directly control the aperture, which is done electronically with gun and camera objectives, through controls on the camera body and the electronic contacts linking the two. High magnification means shallow depth of field, closing the diaphragm is often necessary. There are ways to vary the opening with the really cheap tubes that do not have electronic contacts, even with the modern camera and lens. But it's a pain in the anus. Personally, I would only use and recommend the really cheap tubes for use on adapted lenses, vintage which have a control ring of the aperture on the lens itself.

But most tubes discussion (Canon, Kenko, Zeikos/etc. and Opteka) provide electronic contacts, so control AF and the opening are fully supported.

What purpose do you intend to use with the camera and extension tubes? More focal length, the extension you will need to significantly increase the magnification. But too short focal length can put you too close to the subject. Mostly for use on a FF camera a lens in the 70mm to 135mm range is a good compromise of adequate working distance, but handholdable and not requiring not too much expansion. You can stack many tubes for a whole bunch of extension, but it can become risky with too many tubes. Best to use as little as possible.

I'm a big fan of extension tubes... were their use with various systems for 25 + years and always have some on hand just in case they are needed. They can also improve the ability to narrow focus of a large telephoto lens. They are easy to use and having no light inside, have little negative effect on the quality of the image.

I currently use with my kit Canon Canon 12 mm (2 X), 25mm and an older set of Kenko. Over the years, I have used lenses from 20 mm to 500 mm, 24-70, 70-200 and 28-135 mm Zoom. I sometimes use with macro lenses, too... to stimulate their magnification higher that 1:2 or 1:1 the lens alone offers.

My recommendation... Buy a good game and you're going to buy them only once. There is little wear and macro extension tubes are versatile, useful and easy to slip into the corner of your camera with you bag all the time.  IMO the Kenko game offers the best value (but I have not seen or used the new Opteka set has been presented, so can't really compare).

  • [T410] FDE - user password insufficient to erase disk (master required?)

    Hello community,

before all sorry for my bad English skills. I have a problem with my drive hard-encryption:

For about 1.5 years, I encrypted my hard drive with a user-password (FDE). Now, I plan to replace the hard drive and use the external old as a usb device. So I want to erase the entire disc + password. I tried the "Drive erase Utility" Lenovo, but it requires a master-password. I don't know it

With my user password I can modify the BIOS settings, format the drive and reinstall a new operating system, I can even change the user password. But I can't remove the password / encryption.

My question: is it possible to remove the password from the drive (FDE) only with the password? (Even if a password has been set?)

    Thank you

    Hello, roderwald.

Pages 40 to 42 of your Hardware Maintenance Manual describe the passwords of the BIOS, including the differences between the master password and the user HARD drive.

Given that don't even give you an operating system - replace the defective hardware.  ;-)

What specific operating system you use?  Include the service pack level and architecture (SP1, SP2, SP3... (32 - bit or 64 - bit?)

I'm guessing that has happened since the first day - of a lifetime of computers - what happened between he works and does not?  New software installed?  All new hardware installed or attached?

Did you * nothing * to try to remedy the situation?  If so - what?

Be specific.  Ignore the cameras, microphones and remote viewing software, we have installed in your home, clothing and computer.  Pretend that we do not understand what you do and save it for future reference.  * smile * (should be easy - we don't have).

Stuff in general, you could do (as long as you use a Microsoft Windows Operating System after the year 2000...)

    Search for malware:

Download, install, execute, update and perform analyses complete system with the two following applications:

Remove anything they find. Reboot when necessary. (You can uninstall one or both when finished.)

Search online with eSet Online Scanner.

The less you have to run all the time, most things you want to run will perform:

Use Autoruns to understand this all starts when your computer's / when you log in. Look for whatever it is you do not know usingGoogle (or ask here.) You can hopefully figure out if there are things from when your computer does (or connect) you don't not need and then configure them (through their own built-in mechanisms is the preferred method) so they do not - start using your resources without reason.

You can download and use Process Explorer to see exactly what is taking your time processor/CPU and memory. This can help you to identify applications that you might want to consider alternatives for and get rid of all together.

Update your drivers for hardware devices from the manufacturer themselves - do not use the built-in features of Windows. If you want, come back and let us know a bit more information on your system - particularly the brand / model of the system, you have - and maybe someone here can guide you to the place s x of law to this end. This isn't 100% necessary - but I'd be willing to bet that you would gain some performance and features in making this part.

I want to continue to use my laptop. But it's a real pain that it crashes at least once a day sometimes three times a day. I heard that some computers running 7 lock. I heard there is a Patch of Lotus, but my tech do not think that he could solve the problem. There seems to be several reasons that can cause this problem. I have yet to see a solution to the problem. Any idea?

Unless you no more to buy a license to run Windows XP, have a license unused retail already or get a license downgrade rights (not sure that they have even more) - then you probably do not run Windows XP legitimately.

In addition, unless the purchase Toshiba laptop is supported by Toshiba or the manufacturers of the individual components in this laptop IN Windows XP - you may have hardware because problems no device driver to load.

There are a few elements that require Windows XP that will work perfectly in Windows 7 is run under Windows XP Mode (if you have or upgrade to Windows 7 Professional/Enterprise/Ultimate Edition).

After reading your ad - my first suggestion: get a new 'tech '.

Some computers running _ lock (insert any operating system and of the year and everything that you want in this empty - welcome to the real world.)

Windows 7 is quite stable.  Probably all applications you have could be installed and configured in native Windows 7, mode of compatibility or in a virtual machine for Windows XP Mode to work correctly in a pure Windows 7 environment.  While I am pleased that your experience with Toshiba is good and I am not (not) they appreciate their loyalty so they give you big discounts (not) and excellent service (eventually - will not call this one) - but that's just the material and if they chose the hardware components (which are probably the same as in most Dells gateways) (, HPs, Lenovos, etc..) to run on an operating system that you are given correctly and they follow with the drivers - You ' l be fine running Windows 7.

In any case - that said my peace there... Clean your computer and update the drivers.

You can disable hibernation if it is enabled and you do not...

When you Hibernate your computer, Windows saves the contents of the system memory in the hiberfil.sys file. As a result, the size of the hiberfil.sys file will always be equal to the amount of physical memory in your system. If you don't use the Hibernate feature and want to reclaim the space used by Windows for the hiberfil.sys file, perform the following steps:

-Start the Control Panel Power Options applet (go to start, settings, Control Panel, and then click Power Options).
-Select the Hibernate tab, uncheck "Activate the hibernation", and then click OK. Although you might think otherwise, selecting never under "Hibernate" option on the power management tab does not delete the hiberfil.sys file.
-Windows remove the "Hibernate" option on the power management tab and delete the hiberfil.sys file.

You can control the amount of space your system restore can use...

    1. Click Start, right click my computer and then click Properties.
    2. click on the System Restore tab.
    3. highlight one of your readers (or C: If you only) and click on the button "settings".
4 change the percentage of disk space you want to allow... I suggest moving the slider until you have about 1 GB (1024 MB or close to that...)
    5. click on OK. Then click OK again.

You can control the amount of space used may or may not temporary Internet files...

Empty the temporary Internet files and reduce the size, that it stores a size between 64 MB and 128 MB...

-Open a copy of Microsoft Internet Explorer.
    -Select TOOLS - Internet Options.
-On the general tab in the section 'Temporary Internet files', follow these steps:
-Click on 'Delete the Cookies' (click OK)
-Click on "Settings" and change the "amount of disk space to use: ' something between 64 MB and 128 MB. (There may be many more now.)
    -Click OK.
-Click on 'Delete files', then select "Delete all offline content" (the box), and then click OK. (If you had a LOT, it can take 2 to 10 minutes or more).
-Once it's done, click OK, close Internet Explorer, open Internet Explorer.

Get and install the hardware device last drivers for your system hardware/system manufacturers support and/or download web site.

If you want, come back and let us know a bit more information on your system - particularly the brand / model of the system, you have - and maybe someone here can guide you to the place s x of law to this end. This isn't 100% necessary - but I'd be willing to bet that you would gain some performance and features in making this part.

  • Why is there a lock provided by the user

    Hi all

can someone shed some light on the supplied user Lock below, is related to the BINARY_DOUBLE

    BINARY_DOUBLE

No, it has nothing to do with the use of a data BINARY_DOUBLE type. Data types are data types, and locks are locks.

The only way you'd see a lock type 'UL' (or queue) is if someone called DBMS_LOCK. This package contains procedures and functions to maintain your own user locks (hence, enqueue UL type), using the same queue and blocking mechanisms that Oracle uses internally.

  • Reminders do not display or stick to the lock screen in iOS10

IOS10 (10.0.1 and 10.0.2), on an iPhone (I use an iPhone 6), reminders are no longer reliable. I had several cases where the callback doesn't show even on the screen lock and many more times when the recall won't 'glue' to screen lock for more than a short period. Before iOS10, when you said to remind you at a certain time or place, the recall would display on the reliable lock screen until she has been marked as "completed".

It is a major issue for people who depend on the application for the important tasks and calendar. There is a thread of any discussion on this point, for some reason, has been marked as "solved" even if a large number of people continues to post telling him that there is a problem for them too (as the thread located here). I wanted to start this new discussion which we hope will remain open until it is effectively resolved.

Thank you!!! This is a HUGE problem!

Since the update I had to reboot my phone EVERY day.

Is the stick of reminders... or they do not. Lately they don't yet show upward. Then other things stick to the lock screen can't get rid of.

Currently this feature on the phone is USELESS

  • Chinese characters in the lock screen

I recently updated to iOS 10 and shortly after started to see Chinese characters on my lock screen, under the date and time. I checked the language and region settings and see only English and selected Philippines which is correct. Don't know what that other settings I need to change? I also tried to change my lock screen and the same characters are still there.

    Thank you
