Locked Toshiba

I bought a Toshiba laptop that has shipped running Windows 7. The tech who sold me the computer says that it it will usher up to run XP. I have a program that I use as my telephone contacts & appointments. This is Lotus Organizer. It is configured the way I like to exploit. I have also some other articles that need a XP. I spent 4 times the price I could go buy a Windows 7 computer. I like the Toshiba laptops. I had many laptops over the years. Toshiba is the only one that I bought more than once. I want to continue to use my laptop. But it's a real pain that it crashes at least once a day sometimes three times a day. I heard that some computers running 7 lock. I heard there is a Patch of Lotus, but my tech do not think that he could solve the problem. There seems to be several reasons that can cause this problem. I have yet to see a solution to the problem. Any idea?

Unless you no more to buy a license to run Windows XP, have a license unused retail already or get a license downgrade rights (not sure that they have even more) - then you probably do not run Windows XP legitimately.

In addition, unless the purchase Toshiba laptop is supported by Toshiba or the manufacturers of the individual components in this laptop IN Windows XP - you may have hardware because problems no device driver to load.

There are a few elements that require Windows XP that will work perfectly in Windows 7 is run under Windows XP Mode (if you have or upgrade to Windows 7 Professional/Enterprise/Ultimate Edition).

After reading your ad - my first suggestion: get a new 'tech '.

Some computers running _ lock (insert any operating system and of the year and everything that you want in this empty - welcome to the real world.)

Windows 7 is quite stable.  Probably all applications you have could be installed and configured in native Windows 7, mode of compatibility or in a virtual machine for Windows XP Mode to work correctly in a pure Windows 7 environment.  While I am pleased that your experience with Toshiba is good and I am not (not) they appreciate their loyalty so they give you big discounts (not) and excellent service (eventually - will not call this one) - but that's just the material and if they chose the hardware components (which are probably the same as in most Dells gateways) (, HPs, Lenovos, etc..) to run on an operating system that you are given correctly and they follow with the drivers - You ' l be fine running Windows 7.

In any case - that said my peace there... Clean your computer and update the drivers.

Search for malware:

Download, install, execute, update and perform analyses complete system with the two following applications:

Remove anything they find. Reboot when necessary. (You can uninstall one or both when finished.)

Search online with eSet Online Scanner.

The less you have to run all the time, most things you want to run will perform:

Use Autoruns to understand this all starts when your computer's / when you log in. Look for whatever it is you do not know usingGoogle (or ask here.) You can hopefully figure out if there are things from when your computer does (or connect) you don't not need and then configure them (through their own built-in mechanisms is the preferred method) so they do not - start using your resources without reason.

You can download and use Process Explorer to see exactly what is taking your time processor/CPU and memory. This can help you to identify applications that you might want to consider alternatives for and get rid of all together.

Do a house cleaning and the dust of this hard drive:

You can free up disk space (will also help get rid of the things that you do not use) through the following steps:

Windows XP should take between 4.5 and 9 GB * with * an Office suite, editing Photo software, alternative Internet browser (s), various Internet plugins and a host of other things installed.

If you are comfortable with the stability of your system, you can delete the uninstall of patches which has installed Windows XP...

You can disable hibernation if it is enabled and you do not...

When you Hibernate your computer, Windows saves the contents of the system memory in the hiberfil.sys file. As a result, the size of the hiberfil.sys file will always be equal to the amount of physical memory in your system. If you don't use the Hibernate feature and want to reclaim the space used by Windows for the hiberfil.sys file, perform the following steps:

-Start the Control Panel Power Options applet (go to start, settings, Control Panel, and then click Power Options).
-Select the Hibernate tab, uncheck "Activate the hibernation", and then click OK. Although you might think otherwise, selecting never under "Hibernate" option on the power management tab does not delete the hiberfil.sys file.
-Windows remove the "Hibernate" option on the power management tab and delete the hiberfil.sys file.

You can control the amount of space your system restore can use...

1. Click Start, right click my computer and then click Properties.
2. click on the System Restore tab.
3. highlight one of your readers (or C: If you only) and click on the button "settings".
4 change the percentage of disk space you want to allow... I suggest moving the slider until you have about 1 GB (1024 MB or close to that...)
5. click on OK. Then click OK again.

You can control the amount of space used may or may not temporary Internet files...

Empty the temporary Internet files and reduce the size, that it stores a size between 64 MB and 128 MB...

-Open a copy of Microsoft Internet Explorer.
-Select TOOLS - Internet Options.
-On the general tab in the section 'Temporary Internet files', follow these steps:
-Click on 'Delete the Cookies' (click OK)
-Click on "Settings" and change the "amount of disk space to use: ' something between 64 MB and 128 MB. (There may be many more now.)
-Click OK.
-Click on 'Delete files', then select "Delete all offline content" (the box), and then click OK. (If you had a LOT, it can take 2 to 10 minutes or more).
-Once it's done, click OK, close Internet Explorer, open Internet Explorer.

You can use an application that scans your system for the log files and temporary files and use it to get rid of those who:

Cleaning the components of update on your Windows XP computer

While probably not 100% necessary-, it is probably a good idea at this time to ensure that you continue to get the updates you need. This will help you ensure that your system update is ready to do it for you.

Download and run the MSRT tool manually:
http://www.Microsoft.com/security/malwareremove/default.mspx
(Ignore the details and download the tool to download and save to your desktop, run it.)

Reset.

Download/install the latest program Windows installation (for your operating system):
(Windows XP 32-bit: WindowsXP-KB942288-v3 - x 86 .exe )
(Download and save it to your desktop, run it.)

Reset.

and...

Download the latest version of Windows Update (x 86) agent here:
http://go.Microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=91237
... and save it to the root of your C:\ drive. After you register on theroot of the C:\ drive, follow these steps:

Close all Internet Explorer Windows and other applications.

AutoScan--> RUN and type:
%SystemDrive%\windowsupdateagent30-x86.exe /WUFORCE
--> Click OK.

(If asked, select 'Run'). --> Click on NEXT--> select 'I agree' and click NEXT--> where he completed the installation, click "Finish"...

Reset.

Now reset your Windows with this FixIt components update (you * NOT * use the aggressive version):
How to reset the Windows Update components?

Reset.

Now that your system is generally free of malicious software (assuming you have an AntiVirus application), you've cleaned the "additional applications" that could be running and picking up your precious memory and the processor, you have authorized out of valuable and makes disk space as there are no problems with the drive itself and your Windows Update components are updates and should work fine - it is only only one other thing youpouvez wish to make:

Get and install the hardware device last drivers for your system hardware/system manufacturers support and/or download web site.

If you want, come back and let us know a bit more information on your system - particularly the brand / model of the system, you have - and maybe someone here can guide you to the place s x of law to this end. This isn't 100% necessary - but I'd be willing to bet that you would gain some performance and features in making this part.

  • Start on Satellite BIOS password click on L9W Mini-B

    Hello everyone,
I am now digging some time arround to find a solution to my problem.

    I have a 'locked' Toshiba Satellite click Mini (L9W - B) convertible.

Is it now somehow a "starting password" on this subject.
Im not sure if this is a BIOS/UEFI but I think so.

The quick apears just after the Toshiba Logo.

I don't know what happened exactly,
the Tablet has set a certain time arround in my wifes office.
(And the battery has been drained, of course).

    I have therefore two theories.

    1. My wife put accidentally ==> a password (but she said she never did something like that. And I couldn't think to set any password...)
    2. Or somehow, the password is "activated" by the drop in power

Because on the first time after loading, it carried a message, the cmos & time date was wrong and now is the value by default, or so.
-I couldn't remember the exact words.
But I never heard of this kind of behaivior of your laptop / PC before.

Can someone confirm that this is a UEFI password prompt?

Is there a way to clean the bios/uefi?

(As on laptops / desktop you can erase it by a rider or by removing the CMOS battery.)

I don't know if the click Mini has a TPM device on it. ==> This would mean that the unit is now garbage?

I tried to enter the boot menu (as described for the for the other Toshiba Windows Encore tablets).

but that has not worked so far.

(Programmable volume or Volume brightness and turn on with or without plugged AC.)

I think that investment for Technical Support would not make sense for such a low camera in range...

Are there no possibility to put it to the factory settings?

  • Toshiba me lock off my laptop

Toshiba has me locked out of my laptop for the 2nd time.
All I get is a message on my screen, saying: my PC is infected and I have to call their customer service. Don't forget that my laptop is only 7 months old.

The last time it happened I called CS number on the screen. They tried to sell me a package of very expensive maintenance. I didn't say thank you. The officer then turned ugly and was very rude. I finished the conversation. They have unlocked my phone.
I ran my anti-virus program and it said that my PC was fine, no problem.

Yesterday evening, online and bam. Locked again. Says I have to call their CS line. Once again.
HOW, in the Hey they are I am locked out of my laptop and WHY?

    I'm about to scream!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I use Toshiba laptops for more than 10 years now, but I never heard of something like that.
What model of laptop do you have?

If there is a problem with viruses, install the original recovery image and start using your laptop with factory again.

  • Toshiba 32 GB Flash Drive and locking software for Ubuntu

I bought a 32 GB Toshiba Usb Flash Drive, which comes with a lock. Works great under Vista, but if I stick in my Ubuntu desktop-driven, the files on the disk can be viewed or copied or deleted, so the software that comes with the drive is pretty useless as collateral.

    Any suggestions please?

    Hi Gumnut,

What Toshiba flash drive you exactly, because there are different models on the market? I m not owner of this flash drive but for as far as I know Toshiba doesn't support Linux, so this software will not work on Linux, so the reader isn't locked.

  • Toshiba vista chicony webcam "locked by another application.massage.

    Dear Sir
Toshiba built in chicony 2usb, getting locked by anather application in yahoo massenger, if restart is okay. Once again, closing / opening of video call it shows 'locked by an other application.same that goes with the direct help of massenger.please.

PATIT hizli, please post on the fourms to Microsoft.

Toshiba includes a pitcher to start for the management of some of the features of the system, such as shortcut keys, and the webcam. If you have a program that the web cam is locked by another pllication this is usually the cause toshiba utilities. So for your problem, you will need to do some research to find out which utility prevents normal functioning of the web cam.

I'll give you the steps you need to follow all you have to do is use your favorite search engine to determine if the application is the culprit.

In your case we will try a "selective startup", a selective startup will allow us to determine which programs you want to start with the PC and that are not required when starting upwards.

Please note that for your PC to operate as it should with programs that may require appropriate start-up you'll have to do some research on the name of the executable file in the following programs 'services' and the 'starting' top tabs It's that you were researching the name of the program/service will help you determine which prevents proper operation of web cam.

    Lets start:
    1. click on 'start '.
2 type "msconfig" (without the quotes)
    3. user account control will then will prompt you for permission to continue, if yes, then click or tap on enter the button "continue". If the user account control does not prompt you for permission, then it has been disabled.
    4. once 'utility of System Configuration"is displayed, you will notice two top tabs called 'services' and 'start' for the time being let us click on the top tab of the page"services ".

Be warned if you disable all services in this tab, the PC does not start.

    5. in 'services', the first thing we want to do is check the box titled "Hide all Microsoft Services", this will allow us to NOT make the mistake of disabling accidentally the basic elements of the operating system that are required to start and work properly.

    6. once we've hidden all Microsoft services take a look at the other services to allow a place of duty to check the box next to its title, conversely to disable. You now need to do research using your search engine preferred to determine what programs those remaining services correspond to the. Just type the name of the service in your favorite online search engine to determine what's going, if you feel that the program has no need to start then turn it off. Be aware that some programs may not work properly if they depend on to this / these services to start.

    7. Once you have narrowed your list of services, click on the top tab of the 'start-up' page, follow the same rules as the previous step to refine your list of startup items. You will notice that there is no checkbox "Hide all Microsoft Services" because usually never whatever this is disabled in this tab affect the main operating system to start successfully. However be warned that the program itself do not work properly. In any case close to the bottom of the list by searching online.

    8. Once done with all the configuration changes, click 'OK '.
    9. you will now be asked to restart the PC, the decision is yours to make or "exit without restart".
    10. once restart is completed you will be asked a dialog box indicating you run in mode "selective startup", simply place a check in the box labeled "do not show or run the system at boot configuration utility."
    11. click on 'OK '.

To reactivate it, rerun the 'System Configuration utility' and select 'Normal Startup' in the general tab, click on 'OK' and then 'restart '.

Please let us know if that helps the problem you are experiencing because we can then proceed to further troubleshooting.
    Kind regards
    Aaron Barth

Too slow to load MS Office in normal mode, unusable.
In safe mode it seems to work OK but cannot use MS Office programs in safe mode as the system does not recognize MS Office as legitimate. Suspect a problem with Windows 7, tried to apply updates to windows, but he gets up then encounters an error and cancels the update.
    Machine has no SP1 update.
I tried recovery - no help.
    I tried sfc/scannow - no problems found.
Is this a common problem with Windows 7? Is there a solution? Is this a virus?
    Any ideas anyone?

Windows 7 is the safest and most stable Windows yet, but some BONE is totally immune to viruses and other malware.  Here are a few things to check.

Get your updated antivirus program and boot into Safe Mode. Note that some viruses can hide from your normal antivirus program, so you really need to scan in Safe Mode. To enter in Safe Mode when you turn on first, press F8 on every seconds until you get the menu, and then select Safe Mode. Then run a complete system scan.

If that suits him fine. If this is not the case, use system restore to go back to an earlier date at the beginning of the problem. To run system restore, click Start-> programs-> Accessories-> System Tools-> system restore. Click on the box that says show more restore points.

Finally if all else fails, you can look at the rather cryptic system event log. To do that click on start-> Control Panel-> administration-> event viewer tools. • Can not find information on Toshiba 40XV551D

I have a fault with my TV and I can't find any information of this model 40XV551D

There is no serial number 99215691 according to the Toshiba web site.

The problem I have is my niece was playing his game via the VGA input station when she took his TV PS, I tried to return HDMI to the TV using the remote control, but he had no answer and I get a background of locking Panel left on a blue screen error and blue screen , but using a cable SCART, I can watch TV through my cable box but beyond turning on the TV from the buttons on the side, I have no control volume etc.
My remote will not communicate with my TV I tried the remote and it works fine but I do not think that the receiver on the TV reacts to the remote control.

I searched the forum and site on the net trying to get all the information, but all without success, that the Toshiba site says it does not exist.

Please can someone give me advice...

Deroot, after a good amount of research, I was able to find the manual for your 40VX551D, in the 'Pre 2008' the site of Toshiba UK area and was able to download even after following the threads on the website.
If you have difficulty to find the manual, or still have problems with TV you, we all know, can someone have had similar problems and could contribute to their solution.
My suggestion would be, unplug all the power, leave it for a few moments, and then plug it in and see how it goes. Maybe even plug the Playstation back in and firing of the system can shake things back to normal, then the usual "Switch off before plugging or unplugging other devices" can be cured.
In the system menu and find and activate the 'Factory Reset' menu item can get out you of trouble (which would require a scan of the channels recover all your channels)

By the way, the next sentence of the Toshiba consumer products Web page you will get to the Index for these models-"* Please Note If you can't find your model, it can be pre-2008." "Please click here for our old site."

Please let us know how it turns out

    Hey,.

You run the internal webcam software at the same time? If Yes, it could assign the webcam feature in Skype so close to the webcam software before you start Skype and use the webcam.

If it doesn't work try reinstalling the driver for the webcam of the official website of Toshiba:

But before you install the new webcam software, delete the old first, restart the computer. I recommend also using CCleaner to clean the registry before installing the latest webcam software.
