Losing my words 2010 program?

I have a backup disk to install windows 8 on my computer and I wonder if I lose my program 2010 of words when I do?

Thank you. I bought Windows 8 for my laptop and I just got the program disk. Now I want to install on my desktop that is managed by windows vista.  I guess this would be an update, right?

You run the Advisor upgrade of Windows 8 and read this page?

If your PC is running Windows 7, your files, applications, and settings will transfer easily Windows 8 readers. If your computer is running Windows XP or Windows Vista, you have to reinstall your applications after upgrading.

  • No 'Use Word 2010 Starter' button after followng HP instructions to uninstall. Now what?

I have a HP Pavillion desktop (p7-1010) running Windows Home Premium 64 bit. It came with the Microsoft Word Starter 2010 edition installed, I used without problem since I bought the (new) PC.

A few days ago, I started having a message that WINWORDC.exe was download a required feature and don't be surprised if Word seemed not to answer. Sometimes, the message looks like there was a problem with the Internet connection then try again.

I found and followed the instructions to http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c02981221 who told me how to attempt a repair. The repaor has failed. After that, I could not run Word starter at all - the logon banner would hang and say download Microsoft Word Starter 2010 (99%). This message has never disappeared.

I rebooted a few times to be sure.

The HP page also gave instructions to find out how uninstall the Starter edition - with a caveat that you need to be sure, the head office was installed - and then reinstall. Given that the Manager has been installed on my PC, I uninstalled and then, when I followed the instructions on how to re - install, the button I had to click on (something like 'Use Word 2010 Starter' wasn't there.  Now, I have no way to use Word - starter or otherwise.

I assumed HP instructions were good. Don't think.

    Any suggestions?

Thank you. It will be a few days before I can spend more time on this, but I appreciate the help.

If someone at HP monitors this forum, HP must remove or update the offending article which says the word of the use (or was it office) Start button will be available after uninstalling start until Office Manager option is installed.

Because if the article or document belongs to HP, then update is not a problem.  I note it to those responsible for its maintenance.

The question that you may be an exception, because at some point in the past may have clicked on the button use Office 2010 Staerer. Who is likely to have (grayed out) off the button. Have you noticed if it was present before you uninstalled Office Starter via the Microsoft Manager program?

You need a program that can extract the text from a pdf file. He
many of these programs, and you can find them with a search on the web.
This is one of those programs that is free: http://www.a-pdf.com/text/

But be aware that I have never used this program and cannot
recommend or put you keep away from him. But you might want to try
and see how it works for you.

  • can't, open microsoft word 2010.

I have word 2010 is installed on my laptop as part of a package of software that came with the computer when it was purchased new from Best buy. Used for 3 months, but now when I try to open it, it appears a box to tell me "program could not be opened, try again or repair in the Panel" all attempts of the 'fix' in Control Panel, it calls a "product key". I don't have a product key, the program provided with the laptop! What gives?

    Hello jonathanspringer,

By the sound of things, you use a trial version of Microsoft Word.

Most of the manufacturers of PC bundle versions of trial software with a new PC to make it more attractive. I guess that's what happened with your PC.

Unless you actually bought a copy of Microsoft Word - in which case you should have a product key - then your only option is actually go out an buy a copy of the product physically and install it yourself. You could also connect with Best buy and make sure it is a 'demo' that they have provided and not a paid full version.

    Now, that's the bad news.

The good news is that Microsoft Word is not the "be all and end all ' of the word processing software. Yes, it's good, and Yes, I use it regularly. However, there is a 'free' alternative and it's Apache Open Office http://www.openoffice.org/download/index.html.

If you did not purchase Microsoft Word then give Apache Open Office a test. You will find that it does exactly what you want it to do.

  • I want to reset my computer to factoery settings, but I don't want to delete McAfee anitvirus and Microsoft word 2010?

I have windows vista and I recently bought a new antivirus and I also bought Microsoft Word 2010 and I want to reset my computer without deleting those?
    Any help please?

    Hello HectorRodriguez_977,

Reset to factory wipes the hard clean of EVERYTHING.

You need to reinstall your Antivirus, and Microsoft Word 2010 from the original media.

This applied to ALL programs that you have installed since your computer was new.

And back up ALL your data: pictures, music, Documents, etc., or you will lose them, too.

  • Microsoft Office - Word 2010

I have a new Dell N5510 laptop and have problems with MS Office Word 2010.  It keeps showing an error and the program closes.

    Operating system is 7 Home Premium w / SP1, 64-bit

The office is new.  I bought the key MS online and downloaded the program.  Then I went on the site of community Dell and downloaded Office 2010.

The first time that Word is open words until I enable editing of the document. Then Word retrieves the document and asks if I want to save the model. Then he comes up with another error and quits the program.

Any ideas what's happening?  Problem Dell or office?

NOTE: Power point is not working properly. Have not used other applications.

First suggestion would be to run the "repair" function and see if that corrects the problem.  If not, it will probably take a reinstall (uninstall Office, reboot the PC and then do the reinstall, just uninstall and reinstall you can wind up with the same problem).

  • Word 2010 - Mapi error - when trying to record and send a document as an attachment

Just recently, after finally getting WLM2011 to at least send an email without crashing, I started now to experience a problem with sending documents as attachments from Word 2010.

    Here's the Windows Help:

This error can occur if you try to send a Word document as an attachment in Word and the MAPI session was closed and Word is no longer able to connect to that MAPI session. It can also occur if there is a problem with the fax configuration.

To correct a MAPI to error: restart the MAPI e-mail program (for example, Outlook) or save and close the document, and then restart Word after restarting your MAPI e-mail application. Word will create a new MAPI session, allowing the document to send.

To fix a problem with the fax configuration, check the configuration of your fax software settings, and then make the appropriate changes.

Unfortunately, if the WLM is open or closed, the problem persists in Word 2010.  I repaired Word 2010 and repaired WLM several times and the MAPI error is not resolved.

Is this something in my control panel > default program settings? perhaps.

It is a chronic problem which has many causes and solutions almost as much. Boredom is often caused by Outlook the musculature to be the default program wherever possible. Different versions of Office do things differently, too. This is a good way to kick off:

    1. Type regedit in the start search box and press enter. Give permission if necessary.
    2. In the left pane, find the key called
      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail
      and click on Mail.
    3. In the right pane, double-click (default). In the dialog that opens, turn off what's there, Windows Live Mail and click on OK.
    4. In the left pane, click the subkey called Windows Live Mail
      (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\Mail\Windows live mail)
    5. In the right pane, look for DLLPath in the name column.
      If she's not here,

      1. Right-click on an empty part of the right pane, and then select New > string value
      2. Type DLLPath to name the new value and press enter
      3. Double-click DLLPath and in the box that opens, type carefully
        C:\Program Files (x 86) \Windows Live\Mail\smapi.dll
If yours is a 64-bit computer, or
        C:\Program Files\Windows Live\Mail\smapi.dll
        If it is 32-bit.
        Click OK
      4. If it is, skip 5.1 and 5.2 and go 5.3
    6. Repeat 5, but this time with DLLPathEx

You should end up with something like this:

Close the registry editor, restart your computer and test the functions you were missing.

  • MS word offers the option of Microsoft Word 2010 (2) in the list of the start menu

Original title: program registration under Start button

Today, when I was looking for a program that is displayed when I select the Start button, I noticed that the number 2 see the next to registration for Microsoft Word 2010.  It looks now like this: Microsoft Word 2010 (2)

I don't think it was like that the other day when I finally used Word.  Any ideas on why it would start that looks like this?  I made no changes to my computer.

I use Microsoft 7 Home Premium.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hey Debba,.

-You have two entries in the start menu for Microsoft Word? One is Microsoft Windows Word 2010 (2) and the other is Microsoft Word 2010 Microsoft Office on the start menu?

-Is this Microsoft Word 2010 (2) successfully opened?

-This happens to you with other programs in the list?

If there are two icons for Microsoft Word 2010 on the Start menu, remove the icon of Windows of Microsoft Word 2010 (2).

All you have to do is click on Microsoft Word 2010 (2) and click on remove from this list.

This seems to be only a Microsoft Word 2010 shortcut added to the list of the start menu.

Hope this information helps. If you have any questions, please let us know.

  • Problem with speech recognition in Windows 7 and MS Word 2010 - strange window opens

I have been using speech recognition in Windows 7 to dictate in Word 2010.  Yesterday it worked fine: I did a number of training records, added a few new words in the speech dictionary and dictated a part of a document.  No major problems.

Today, however, when I begin to dictate, rather than insert the words directly in my Word document, a secondary window will appear next to the insertion point and text appears here, with small buttons that say "insert" and "Cancel".  It's rather annoying - get the text dictated in the document, I must stop dictating and say "insert."  Is it possible to prevent that from happening?  As far as I know, I don't have any changes to the settings or program options to cause this.  Help!

Thanks for the answer, but now I can't seem to reproduce the problem.  I don't know why what started, but it doesn't seem to be the case more.  Thank you.

  • Images placed behind text in Word 2010 are proposed to cover the text after conversion to PDF.

    System Specs:

Windows 7, Word 2010, Acrobat XI

I've highlighted several paragraphs thoughout the book I write by placing an image behind them. These images are set to display behind the text, leaving the readable text. So the image offers a sort of background for these select paragraphs.

They look great in Word 2010.

And the PDF looks a lot when I exported from Word 2007 using Acrobat 9 (at least I think it was 9...).

But now, when I convert it to PDF using Word 2010 and Acrobat XI, the image is moved in front of the text; obscuring her completely.

We never saw it? Any suggestions?

EDIT - to be clear, I do the conversion using the PDF what acrobat tools puts in Word when it is installed.

Here's how Adobe level 2 support 'resolved' for us: uninstall all instances of Acrobat on your system. If you have another version of Acrobat (if reader, Standard or Pro) installed, purge your system of all the tips of it in the Program Files folders and clean the registry of all guides in Acrobat. In my case, I use Adobe Application Manager because I now have CS6 installed, so installed Acrobat XI of MAO by clicking on "Try". It is installed and then I installed 11.0.1 update and then activated using my product key. I really think that the problem was that I didn't install PDF Maker during the original installation, because it was such a slug and buggy to who. When I installed by the above, I had not given the choice, so now I have Acrobat or Adobe tabs on all my Office applications, oh joy. But printing to PDF works as it should. As I was directed by rein through most of the above, I have no idea what has been really effective on the above. I tried to just uninstall Acrobat and resettlement on a system on which no other version of Acrobat had already been installed, but on which install the original XI of Acrobat didn't understand the PDF Maker and who had the symptoms of printing of this thread. This doesn't solve the problem, but do the relevant parts of the steps I have indicated above, did the trick. I have 20 users with XI Acrobat installed; Some have this symptom, some don't. I have not analyzed to see what is the common point, but this problem and its solution still seems very rickety for me.
