Lost all files in Windows, do I need to reinstall Windows?

I have performed in a bad way, as backup of the laptop and I lost all files in windows. Any program of Microsoft works. just internet. Is there a way to recover these files or do I have to re - install windows 7? Thank you.

If you made a backup restore from restoring built in the recovery partition on the laptop, all would be lost, and you need to reinstall all of the programs that you installed after you started using the laptop.

Images and documents you had on this subject, would be too lost!

If you used the built in restore which is under Windows, everything must be always there with the exception of all the files that were created after that restore point.

OK Matt, your argument is convincing.
I'm probably too old to try to move away from Windows to an alternative or a Mac, so I guess I'll have to continue to live with that sort of thing. Email is really important to me then maybe it is time to do everything in the cloud.

  • Virus blocks all files & folders, windows defender and restore point

I have a virus that blocks access to my files SYSTEM, Windows Defender and perhaps even of Windows Support. For some reason when I give permission from Windows to check my system for my product key and ID it cannot access. Malware bytes and AVG nothing found. Malware, I ran in safe mode. AVG was not available in the save mode. Defender does not open. IE and Windows explore are constantly stop and error too.

My system is Vista Home Premium, service pack 1, the last I did change is the change in language. This week, I removed a very boring task bar called Babylon, who appears out of nowhere, from my computer which also seemed like malware to me. All traces of it were gone. What to do next. I tried everything I can think of.

    Thank you.

I suggest you to install Microsoft Security essential place of AVG:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security_essentials/

For its last database of configuration of installation in offline mode:

    https://www.Microsoft.com/security/portal/definitions/ADL.aspx

Did you run the Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=AD724AE0-E72D-4F54-9AB3-75B8EB148356&displaylang=en

In this case you could not access the page everything Microsoft domain so you need to download it from another machine.

    If nothing works then:

It seems that malware has badly edited the system files. Fresh formatting will be the best procedure, but you can follow the instructions if you want to format it now & solve the problem by repairing OS platform below.

    1. open the command prompt (make a right click on it & "Run as Administrator").

    2. type sfc/scannow & then press ENTER.

(the command will restore all the files system protected Windows in its original version)

3 then he will ask the Windows startup disk, so insert & allow the time to complete the scan.

    4. once the command/scanning is finished check that your problem exists or not.

Note: if succeeded, you may need to activate your copy of windows with its original CD key. Otherwise next reboot it will delay/deny to connect to your account until that activate you in original key. If you have no real CD key as you try the command.

You will be unable to run this command if you have no windows startup disk. (You will need Microsoft Windows Vista SP1 not any bootable disc restore disk / retail)

In the corruption of file extreme command may have failed. Then, to fix the OS by booting the disc.

  • Latitide D810 - lost all sound with Windows 7

    Greetings!

I recently installed Windows 7 Professional on my Dell Latitude D810. After installation, I've lost all the audio features. My volume control in the Quick Launch bar States, "no Audio output device is installed". I ran the "problems of detection" to try and fix the drivers, but it wasn't able to fix it.

My next step is to check the drivers of Dell and downloads site and they do not have a driver for my computer with Windows 7. However, I have read on other sites that people have had any audio problems with installing Windows 7 on their Latitude D810s. Others have claimed to have had problems, but have been able to find the drivers for their audio problems.

Through various websites and download, I tried the following driver executables: D810_A05.exe, R99254.exe and S1wua01i.exe. It's audio drivers I found for XP and Vista, but they no longer work.

Does anyone else have other recommendations in pilot? Or links to other drivers, I can at least try?

At this point, anything would be helpful! A lot of satisfaction and thanks in advance...

    See if it works:

Download driver Sigmatel R99254. Unzip it but cancel the installation process. (Skip this step if you still have this driver).
It will unzip the files and store them in a folder on the hard disk to c:\Dell\drivers\R99254, and this folder will be a subfolder named WDM.

Open Device Manager and expand system down devices. Locate the PCI Device with one? next to it (or if it is not there, then look for "Multimedia Audio Controller"). Go to properties and select Update driver. Select to manually locate the driver and let Windows not seek.
    Go to c:\Dell\drivers\R99254\WDM

With a bit of luck, it should detect new hardware, and one of them should be the Sigmatel.

  • Lost all libraries in Windows Media Player

I had a very serious fight with a browser hijacker. I had great support from Microsoft to get results in the race, but in the process lost all my music from Windows Media Player libraries. I know that they are still in the computer, somewhere, because they went during the time of repair, but came back twice during the process of return to the somewhat operational. Is it possible to search for music files? I don't know if I should remove the player and download it somewhere (?) or go to another player or what. Some files have been compiled for many years and are not replaceable. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, always keep up to date, have 4 GB of ram and 800 GB of free space on the HARD drive. I use MS Security Essentials with Malwarebytes and Advanced System Care Pro for maintenance. Is it possible to download a new copy of Media Player. I'm starting to ramble, so if anyone can point me in the right direction, I'd be deeply in your debt!

This seems to be a question of recovery then. No other player will improve the situation, unless the files are accessible. I could cite this entire thread of resettlement, but I think it would be better to mark this as replied and post a new question in the section 'repair and recovery' the Forum... something along the lines of 'Files lost after Browser Hijack' and then briefly detail what happened, what support you have received (and where) and I hope that someone recommends a plan of action to try to recover the lost files.
I'm sorry that a simpler solution is not an option!

  • How can I disable administrative privileges on all files in windows 7

Every time I change laptops, do a reboot of the system or any work on a file, I get locked out my files

    Hi James,

Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft Community forums.

I see from the description of the problem, you want to know how to disable the administrator privileges on all files.

I imagine the inconvenience that you are experiencing. We are here to help and guide you in the right direction.

To resolve the issue with deactivation of administrator privileges, I need more information:
    1. what exactly mean you by "I get locked out of my files?
    2. are you logged in as a standard user or administrator?
    3. are you referring to the administrator user ID and quick Email?

If you are referring to the administrator user ID and quick Email, try the following steps and check if it helps.
    (a) open user account control settings by clicking on Start button.
    (b) then click on Panel.
    (c) in the Search box, type uac, and then click on change User Account Control settings.
    (d) drag the bar of never notify.

Note: You will not be notified until changes are made to your computer. If logged in as an administrator, programs can make changes to your computer you know on the subject.

Note: User Account Control (UAC) can help you to prevent your computer from unauthorized changes. It works by asking permission when a task requires administrative rights, such as installing software or changing settings affecting other users. We do not recommend disable user account control. If you turn it off, you must reactivate as soon as possible.

See the links for more information.

Let us know the status of the issue after you perform the troubleshooting steps. If you need additional help or information on Windows, I'll be happy to help you. We, at tender Microsoft to excellence.
  • After restoring to factory settings lost all files, photos, etc., how can I get back them?

lost pictures files etc after restoring to factory settings how can I get back them?

Restoring to factory settings formats the disc, and which erases
everything what he. You probably get something new, but you can
try to do a search on the web for a recovery program that unformats the reader
    like here: http://www.easeus.com/resource/unformat.htm

If you unformat the drive successfully and can recover lost files
back, the first thing you should do copy on an external
(CD, DVD, USB sticks, external hard drives, etc.).
    Two other points/questions:

    1. why restore you to the factory settings? This is usually the worst
approach to solve a problem, there's a lot of extra long hard
work and often leads to problems of its own (as it did here).

    2. I assume you have no backup on external media from your
photos of important files etc. In this case. you played with
the fire. You can read this article on the backup that I wrote:

about 2 days back I changed the partition of my drive external hard parition of os x type to exFAT to use it on all my devices. I had no idea that changing the type of partition will also delete all of the files it contains. I lost about 1 terabyte of media (movies, tv shows, music... etc...).

  • Windows XP, you see only not all files in Windows 7 shares

I see an embarrassing problem that occur on two different sets of machines on different networks.  The initial symptom that led me to study was that software synchronization third laptop XP Pro SP3 computer a user has acted improperly, saying that some files in directories on a Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit computer were gone, but they really were.

I traced the problem in several directories on the Windows 7 machine display incomplete content seen on the XP machine network.

For purposes of explanation, //Desktop/Folder is a share on the Windows 7 computer, which has 167 files it contains.  If you open this share on a networked XP Pro computer, it shows only 140 files.

For example, File1.doc and File2.doc are both in this shared directory on the Windows 7 computer.  However, on the XP machine, File1 does not appear in the directory.

On the Windows 7 machine, File1.doc and File2.doc are identical regarding permissions and attributes.  The only differences are the size and creation date.  Look at the rest of the 27 "missing" files in this folder, the results are the same - I see no difference.  The files are not password-protected.

I have reproduced this exact behavior with the same data on different machines with the same operating systems.  All machines are completely up to date with respect to updates.  There is no detected malware on any of them.  They are on the same workgroup.

This change in behavior has happened apparently quite recently that the user had no problem with the synchronization software for laptop until last week.

Can anyone suggest what could happen here?

    Thanks for your reply, Jonathan.

I traced the problem to Avast (any flavor).  It turns out that it's a known problem, but not a single notice of too many people.  It is really so when you try to run the software of synchronization between two networked computers and directories that you synchronize are affected by the bug of Avast as the synchronization software performs a very detailed comparison.

When I uninstalled Avast on the source (Windows 7) XP machine could see all the files in all the network shares.  When I reinstalled Avast, the problem returns.

I have a ticket in Avast on this problem.

  • All files in Windows Explorer appear as an icon of the blank white page

When I start my computer, I open Windows Explorer and open a folder to look at a few pictures, everything seems in good condition. All icons and thumbnails display correctly. So, I'm going and open a file to view it, or go back on the record and then go back in the. All icons that originally appeared as the icon or the correct thumbnail now appear suddenly, like a blank white page. I tried to rebuild the icon cache and don't have any managed to solve the problem. Please help me if you have any suggestions, what could be wrong... Thank you!

Aaaah, as a matter of fact Yes! I have solved my problem. I hope this works for you also. I discovered that when I started the Task Manager and look under 'Process' there was a dllhost process that gradually consumed more in addition to my memory. It would slowly increase until that eventually the entire system would crash and I have to restart. So I solved it by putting a term simply the dllhost process. Every once in a while, however, I see the same problem product and I must go to the Task Manager to check... and of course, this same dllhost will eat all my power of transformation. So I just 'End process' on this topic again. Not a big problem because it happens less frequently than once a month to me and its an easy fix. So start up the Task Manager and see if you have a dllhost using an insane amount of memory. If so, this is probably what is causing your problem. I really hope this has solved your problem because it was a huge pain in the * for me. Very frustrating. I must also point out that the first time I tried to stop, it would just pop up again, so I had to close about 5 times in a half-hour time stretches on probably. DO NOT 'end process' on ALL Dllhost however as it may cause other problems with your computer. Just end the process if she consumes a ridiculous memory... amount as more 1 000 000. Oh yes, I also wanted to add that I was a little nervous about to terminate a process dllhost due to potential problems said it could cause, but when I finish this one, one that consumed all of my memory, no negative side effects occurred, none that I noticed.

    Hello

If you press the recovery option, you put it to the factory settings; in other words, how you bought, new condition.

You can't undo that or that restore to how it was.

Try this free program; You can find some of your lost data.
