lost bookmarks

Having a website in a folder given, when I then use a bookmark, it is not where I put it, and I have to search the site again. Why is this?

Hello

First, check your bookmarks sorted to see if maybe it ended there for some reason any. However, try to score other sites, and if you are unable to save any site, it could mean that something happened to your places.sqlite file.

Open your profile folder by going on your Subject: support page:

  • Help (or

    >

    ) > Troubleshooting information

  • Click on the Record Show
  • Right-click on your places.sqlite file and make sure it is not set to read-only

Alternatively, you can install the extension of Maintenance of places to run maintenance on the file. Please read the following articles first, because they provide useful tips and instructions that may be useful for you:

  • After the OS from Vista to Windows 7 upgrade, lost bookmarks. Could they be somewhere in "windows.old"?

    Hello

I upgraded my OS from Vista to Windows 7 and lost bookmarks, I had in Firefox. Back up my documents files and they are OK. Unfortunately, I don't think to back up my Firefox bookmarks.html file.

However, I did the upgrade of the operating system from the disk and a "windows.old" folder has been created which seems to have a lot of my old files, applications, and others, but I can't find "bookmarks.html" in the firefox folder or in my user folder.

Is there another place in windows.old where bookmarks could be, or a different file name, it may be under?

Please help, there are a few important bookmarks that I lost and which were accumulated over several years.

    Thank you!

Firefox has not used the file bookmarks.html for storage of bookmark since the release of Firefox 2. You need a JSON bookmark backup file or the file places.sqlite. See this:

    http://support.Mozilla.com/en-us/KB/recovering+important+data+from+an+old+profile

Your old profile is located here in Windows Vista and Win7:

    drive: \Users\Windows login user name\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\profile_name

You may need to display 'files and hidden folders' in Win7 to be able to access the Firefox profile in windows.old files and the new installation of the OS.

  • Sync has replaced the existing bookmarks instead of "synchronization"... How can I recover lost bookmarks?

Decided to try to use the bookmark option in sync of 4 FF. I had been using the other options of synchronization without problem. My goal was to get to my work PC bookmarks in sync with my PC at home. I turned sync bookmark on my work PC, when I Rose House and restart my computer, before realizing what had happened to FF had crushed my favorites on my home PC with bookmarks of my work PC. I have now lost ALL my favorites on my home PC. How can I get these?

I didn't have time to try to save my favorites from my PC at home, apparently when you set the only instance of synchronization to use the bookmark that they all are set to sync. I thought I'd have a chance to save bookmarks from my PC at home before I activated on this computer to synchronize bookmarks.

Firefox automatically saves backups of your Favorites, you must restore a backup of the day before that happened. See this support article.

You can check for problems with the database places.sqlite file in the Firefox profile folder.

You can see if you can restore bookmarks to a JSON or a compressed backup of JSONLZ4 in the bookmarkbackups folder in the "Old data Firefox" folder on the desktop.

Could check you if refresh performed? Who would have copied the folder to the settings to a folder on the desktop named old data from Firefox. If you see something like this, you could click in and see if records show a recent modification date/time, and can be used settings recently?

If you find this, we propose ways to retrieve your data using this folder.

If you can't find it, could you type or paste the following text in the search box of the Windows Start menu, and then press ENTER:

    %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles

This folder must contain your active settings file (profile), and what I was asking, is if it contains all the additional files. You can look at the date of change/time for any second folder see if she might have recently lost settings.

Note: It is normal that profile being random semi, for example file names: as75df43.default

    Find any extra settings folder?

Against my better judgment, I've upgraded to Firefox 12. Immediately, all the bookmarks have disappeared. Whenever I started Firefox, I got a 'new tab' with nothing else. No favorites. I did a restore and thought I had fixed it since everything is back, however once I closed Firefox and it started again is towards the Virgin Firefox with nothing and 'new tab '. • Lost Bookmarks toolbar, added, but icons do not appear, or I can just add him...

I had used the computer for a few hours when I noticed that my bookmarks toolbar was not be displayed. I added via the view menu. When I did a blank toolbar appeared, with none of my icons displayed. The icons are available in the Favorites, but do not appear in the toolbar. Also, I can not add all the icons on the toolbar by dragging them from the address bar.

There are two "bookmarks" customize the icons in the bookmarks you don't want the one with the star, that you want has a blue off the coast of the central area, do not know what it is supposed to look like (perhaps a book with 3 unused bookmarks provided next to him).
You will need to drag this icon of the empty Favorites bar.

Bookmarks you should see in it are those of the 'personal bar' that you see in the bar Favorites (Ctrl + B).

When you say that favorite talk Favorites in Internet Explorer, if you imported them in Firefox, you would have to move to your Bookmarks Toolbar folder after seeing "Bookmarks toolbar items" in the toolbar bookmarks to the course to customize.

  • upgrading to windows 7 and lost bookmarks - the location/name of file would be under Vista so I can find it?

I have upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 - Favorites IE installs fine but not the bookmarks of Fire Fox. What the name and the location was under Vista so I can search the hard drive for them. Yes I should have saved them but until it's too late for that now.

They are stored in a file called places.sqlite in the profile folder. See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox for more details about the location of the profile folder

The profile folder is normally hidden, make sure you have configured Windows to display the hidden files and folders.

  • uninstalled every night and lost bookmarks on firefox, how can I ge to hide them? Very important.

I use firefox from the start. A few months ago decided to add every night to my laptop. just today, decided to uninstall that I rarely use. Now I find that I lose everything, including my favorites, these are extremely important for me. How to get back them. ?

Note that personal data deleted when uninstalling Firefox will delete all profiles, including profiles created by other versions of Firefox, so this use with extreme caution (i.e. better is to never use it).

  • How to use Firefox Sync to recover lost bookmarks

I have a Firefox Sync account and I synced my firefox with it data. But I completely erased my PC, so I use Firefox Sync to retrieve my data from firefox?

    Hi Zukokun!

Unfortunately the synchronization is not a backup service. It uses a central server to synchronize data between devices, but these data are not maintained if it is not maintained locally (i.e. in your computer).

Having said that, sometimes if the reconfiguration is fast data can always be on the server.

    Good luck.
