  • Windows Mail 0Ko files

I found out using the Windows Explorer I have a number of e-mail files size 0 KB on my drive home. When I opened them they are just empty files and if I delete them nothing untoward occurs. After a few weeks, several 0 KB files appear. They produce in the place according to records users/JB/appdata/local/Microsoft/Windows Mail / local / Inbox. I sort my Inbox, these files do not appear in the categories that appear at the top of the list, and then these files will appear at the end. When you use Windows mail (and not explore) I don't see any signs of these files

My questions are: 1. where these files come from. 2. How can I prevent them being generated 3.  Apart from delete them individually, is it possible to delete them in a batch.
I use Windows Vista HP 6.0.6002 SP2 build 6002 with full updates on an Acer Aspire M1640 and have no other obvious problem with Windows Mail.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help with this.

Antivirus software often will delete the message or erase its contents, so maybe it's what you see.  His best not whether analyze them, as the value which can cause all sorts of WinMail questions (see www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3).

You can try compacting and repairing the database to get rid of any mismatch (see www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/), in particular those generated by software that erases a message without making a similar change to the database of WinMail.

If you get always them, simply open the Explorer in the directory and sorting by size and then you can choose all byte zero files and delete them like that.

What can I do to put it right, it happened only last month.

    Hi JackieOXL,

    1. you will remember to do recent changes on the computer before this problem?

    2. This occurs when you try to open attachments in any particular email?

This can occur if the default program for opening the .htm and .html programs changed instead of your web browser.

You can try to change the default program to open files and check.

  • Backup Windows Mail .eml files

I have found and saved my files of .eml to C:\Users\Bob\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail\Local folders a few months ago, however, when I try to save it again, I'm not capture my most recent emails. The e-mail messages were all abandoned in the respective records and are 'there' while I'm under Windows Mail, however, a lot of the newer files are NOT in the directory 'Local Folders' hard disk. Guidance on where to find them? Thank you! Bob K.

Have you copied all the files in the folder "Windows Mail" and did you do immediately after as a transmission / reception with Windows Mail closed?  That's what I'd do.

  • No Notification email Windows Mail

I got to play a sound when I get an email. When I get an email, no sound plays. The volume is high enough and my default audio device is set correctly. The problem started when I changed the sound for new e-mail messages. I tried to change this back, but he has not yet played. The new message in the notification area icon is there. Also, when I open the volume mixer, Windows Mail is not there.

    Have you tried this...

Right-click on the Volume icon in the Notification area > sounds > under program, scroll down until further notice by email, click on it > under sound position, it should be Windows Notify.wav.
If so, click on test to hear the sound.
If this is not the case, click on the pointer and scrolling to select. (Stick with Windows Notify.wav if I were you.)
You can also click Browse and select a different sound. But believe me, the selections of so-called are pitiful.
    Click OK when finished.

  • Importing files into Windows Mail .dbx

I'm trying to convert the Outlook Express .dbx files Windows Mail .eml files.  I followed the instructions, and I get an error message saying that there are no files in the folder or the files are in use by another application, neither of which is true.  I checked to make sure that they are not files "read only".

    Bluejacket01,

If they don't work, at what stage you're having trouble, and you receive this error message (if any)?

  • Vista - Windows Mail. copy and save messages

I'm looking for backup my windows mail emails. I look in the C:\users\(user-name limes) \AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail\Local files etc. but do not see the directories where the actual messages are stored only the Inbox, box send, sent, Deleted, drafts, and junk. Where are the directories for the actual messages. * E-mail address is removed from the privacy *

Needless to say that the export and import functions do not work. They do not export on a disk or zip drive (who wants to export to the same drive that may crash!), but even when I do this last import cannot find the exported files.

Since this is about the most important function in modern business that is emailing why there not a simple way to backup emails.

Here's a tutorial for your question:
How to back up and restore messages in Windows mail

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/90298-Windows-mail-messages.html

RE: who wants to export to the same drive that can fall down!

    Excerpt:

NOTE: Your messages were exported to the location selected in step 1 and 6 above. You can save this file exported in something such as an DVD or USB key for save or use to transfer to another computer. If you cannot copy the file exported for any reason, then place the folder exported in a ZIP file first and try again.

  • Windows 7 Mail - import Windows Mail messages?

I had to rebuild my PC due to a serious viral infection. All my previous emials were in Mindow Mail. After re-installation and get all the latest service packs, I find that I now have Windows Mail 7. It seems that I can't import old Windows Mail .eml files saved. How can I recover the files in my email program?

Well, it happens. Happy you have them back in.

When messages are saved as eml files, you can, if necessary, place backup to the desktop files. Open a folder and select all the messages, and then drag them into a folder in the tree view of folders WLMail. Bruce Hagen MS - MVP [Mail]
