  • Scam or not

I just got a phone call, would have been an employee of windows, who says that they have received information that my computer is corrupted by various messages. These I found on the control panel errors in red and warnings in yellow. He says that it is slowing down my computer and produce other problems. He proposed to resolve this issue if I defer control of my computer for him for a few minutes. This seems a very weird way for windows to act. Can I assume that it is a scam? This not the first time thay have rung. They don't seem to have the details of my computer.

Yes, it's a scam. Unfortunately, they keep ringing forever.

  • Order by e-mail Held - is it a scam or not?

I ordered a XPS 13 on the Dell site us. An hour after that I placed my order, I received an email from "Order Held" informing me that Dell could not process my order due to invalid or missing credit card information. They asked me to call 1-800-571-3355 Ext 41-61285 in order to obtain the missing information.

I checked with my credit card company and they said that the payments to Dell was through. The status of the order on the dell website now is "In Production".

Is that what this e-mail "Command Held" trustworthy? Or is it a scam? In addition, what is the real status of my order?

    See you soon

    Hi Sybook,

Thanks for posting on the Dell Community.

More probably it comes a call legitimate. Dell does not charge visitors until it makes the device delivered, so if the Finance Ministry could not verify your payment method, then a "shim" would be on the agenda.  Unfortunately, the order will cancel in a few days if the hold is not released.

When you contacted your credit card company, what is seen is a reserve placed on the card for the amount of the order, but the map is not loaded until it is delivered.

Please go through the process of checking with financial management so that the order does not cancel. If you want me to check the status of your order, please contact me private.  Thank you.

    Kind regards

  • FBI scam and not being able to use the computer

I used you tube yesterday evening to watch a video "elmo" for little girl, and this morning I got a screen that says FBI

and I couldn't use computer until I paid 200.00 to green dot pre paid card.  I Googled it and said it was a scam

and I could use the computer in safe mode, but I'm stuck now and don't know what to do.  I did a Norton scan and a

free scan Microsoft security, and both show computer is fine, but I can't use the computer in normal mode.

So what's up? What can I do?  Help! Please

    Hello

    1. excatly are you referring to when you say "tube"?
    2. What exactly happens in safe mode? When you say "stuck now" what error or problem you are facing?
    3. You are not able to start the computer in mde normal? What exactly happens when you try to start in normal mode?
    4. You receive an error message?
    5. What exactly is the problem you are having?

If it works fine in safe mode, and then perform a clean boot.
To help resolve the error and other messages, you can start Windows 7 by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This type of boot is known as a "clean boot". A clean boot helps eliminate software conflicts.

How to solve the problem by running the clean boot in Windows Vista and Windows 7:

    Follow these steps carefully:

If you need search malware here's my recommendations - they will allow you to
scrutiny and the withdrawal without ending up with a load of spyware programs running

    cause.

No one program cannot be used to detect and remove any malware. Added that often easy
to detect malicious software often comes with a much harder to detect and remove the payload. Then
its best to be thorough than paying the high price later now too. Check with them to one
