LR4.1 install RC2 - activities threat detected by Norton Internet Security

I just installed LR4.1 RC2 and NIS detected and quarantined two DLLs:

mc_dec_mpa.dll

mc_enc_dv.dll

What are and is it safe to take these off quarantine?

Double click to see full-size:

LR4.1RC2 Threat.jpg

They are false positives due to the heuristic of Norton. They are safe to remove the quarantine. In fact, if you do not have your video will not work properly.  Has been mentioned in the notes releae LR: http://blogs.adobe.com/lightroomjournal/2012/03/lightroom-4-0-now-available.html

  • Satellite A100-596: Office disappeared after installed Norton Internet Security

    Hi all, I have a * Toshiba A100-596. *.

When I connect my desktop icons are gone. I get the message:

    * done c:\windows\system32\config\systemprofile\desktop refers to a location that is unavailable.*

I can only use internet explorer, I can't open Firefox (even though the program is still installed.

I can't restore my sidebar because he says it's to be used elsewhere.

My printer software has disappeared and I get the message:

abnormal c:\*programfiles\Lexmark5400series\ixctmon.exe of the termination.* program

I tried restoring the system without success and I have no backup.

Most of my programs is still installed and I can get the items on the desktop, on the start menu, but is no longer so a desktop computer.
So, I can't download anything as my system automatically downloads to the desktop.

It's also prevents me to reinstall my printer software.

I'm sorry to bother you, but no technical assistance would be much appreciated. I'm no computer whizz you can of course
    say.

Help, please. I had to solve this problem for 5 days now. pages Internet keep freezing. having to reboot all the time.
This all started when I downloaded Norton Internet Security.

Safety says my system is safe, but I feel a little Trojan mght have sneeked in the back door and was locked in.
a Trojan horse was detected, but security has solved this problem.

    * Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee eeeeeelp! *

    Hello

    > I'm no computer expert

Sorry, but if you have so much trouble for me the means of logic alone to solve this is to use recovery delivered DVDs and reinstall the OS. After 20 minutes, you will have own OS preinstalled.

After making this all preinstalled delete stuff you don't need, install all the applications you need for your work and be happy again.

  • How to reinstall Norton Internet Security that was originally installed

    Hello!
I have a Satellite M40-148 and I need to reinstall Norton Internet Security that was installed initially. I have the DVD-rom of recovery of the product, the additional software CD and I still have the TOOLCD directory, but I can't find the application of Norton.
Can someone tell me how to?
Best regards and thanks - Steen

    Hi Steen,

If your copy of NIS was originally installed when you got your laptop then it will probably have been included on the DVD of recovery in which case there is no way in which you can extract it without performing a reinstall full of your operating system.

In my case, NIS was delivered on a CD separate provided by people who I bought the laptop so I can re - install from there without a full system restore.

You could, of course, back up your data and then re - build your original recovery DVD system (just finished it on my A30), and this will give you a good clean system without any of the inevitable clutter that can accumulate.

  • Install or not to install: "Webroot Antivirus with spy sweeper" and "Norton Internet security".

original title: install or have not installed?

I am very confused about the difference between "Webroot Antivirus with spy sweeper" and "Norton Internet security". They are both asking me to click on install. They provide the same service? What one do need me more? Windows 7 is already a certain protection/security installed in? I'm afraid to install anything that is not "Microsoft". I heard that too much protection can get an infected computer. My new computer is not yet a year old, I want to keep it in good shape for as long as possible.

The real risk of installing more of an anti-virus program is that they do not work well together and can cause system performance slow and computer lock-up and others.  You should only choose an antivirus product and install it.  Microsoft Windows comes with a limited program called "Windows Defender" that protects against spyware/adware, but no virus, but if you prefer a Microsoft solution, you can download and install "Microsoft Security Essentials" that offers more protection.  Personally, I also use and recommend MSE and have never had a problem with it.

Make sure that you uninstall Webroot and Norton Internet Security before installing MSE.

Hello, according to norton toolbar is compatible with all versions of firefox until the currently shipping version. Nortons disabled. Because it has a virus scanner. You cannot or should not be running 2 AV programs or firewall. They will come into conflict. Its normal. And nothing to panic on

  • HP Envy 23-o014: HP desktop screen freezes while idle time after installing Norton Inernet Security

I just got my new computer a week.  I did not now, McAfee has been installed to work.

Since I've had a full year of Norton Internet Security, I downloaded and installed.

The day of the installation, while the screen was not idle, he locked the desktop icons (yahoo, msn, etc.) and the icons would not respond.  So I tried the reboot task, and he just kept spinning for an hour and will not re-start.  I had to unplug the computer to start again.  This has happened several times in the coming days.

So I uninstalled norton and the problem disappeared.

I see now, with hindsite that McAfee has been also performed.

Anyway, the Safe Live McAfee seems to work, he wants his subscription and payment.

My question is should I just try to use McAfee, provided with the system, and try to recover my money of norton?

Or uninstall McAfee and try to get norton to work and not cause problems?

We believe that Norton would work if McAfee is completely uninstalled (which was not the case)?

Thanks in advance for the advice.

Sorry for the inconvenience caused. It is a known fact that running 2 different programs of security with real-time protection can result in conflicts between them and can cause performance problems. It is therefore recommended to use the real-time protection that one at a time, but you can use everything on demand scanner/security, if you are too preoccupied with the help of a single security program. There is a removal tool in the Mcafee web site that can help you to uninstall the program completely. You can try to use it. Then download and run Norton Removal tool: http://www.norton.com/symnrt and reinstall Norton from your account. Let me know how it goes.

I tried to uninstall the program using the uninstall/change function, but it is not on the list of the programs installed on my computer.  And I just removed Norton Internet Security.  The only time that McAfee was on the computer was a trial, when we arrived the computer first.  Help, please

  • How to deal with these multiple threats detections, I do not know how to get rid of them. I tried with AVG. but don't know how

what I do with these multiple threats detection there are 5 now, I tried to go down with them in my avg but, has not in any way. Could you help me.

now my computer sounds rather well, you think it will be fine now.

Carolyn, is there anything else I need to do

    Hello

    1. were you able to remove the virus?

If you were able to remove the virus from your computer, then you might worry.

I also suggest you to download and run the latest Microsoft Scanner on your computer and check to see if it helps:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: the data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means there is a risk of data loss.

  • Duration Shun threat detection order

I'm trying to set the time of shun for the detection of threats on a PIX 525 v8.0 (3) running. According to the documentation if a host is considered as a striker he will shun the IP for 3600 seconds by default. What I see is that shun is never be removed after they are shunned. I would like to set the time of shun myself and the PIX does not recognize the command:

PIX (config) #-a shun threat analysis threat detection?

    set up the mode commands/options:

except the keyword to exclude the hosts specified in being shunned

    Has anyone seen this?

Ahh, I understand now. Given that you have posted on the Forum ID I was confused and thought he was the block/Shun IDS system.

I deal a lot with ASA/Pix Firewall features. But I checked the 8.0 (4) Release Notes and the option 'shun period' is a new feature in 8.0 (4) which explains why he is not in 8.0 (3). Upgrades to 8.0 (4) an option for you?

I don't know why it isn't remove avoids it automatically after 3600 seconds in 8.0 (3). I did a quick bug control and could not find one.

I hope that someone else on the list might be able to help.

If this isn't the case, you might try posting this question on the Forum of NetPro firewall, or even by contacting the TAC.
