I try to use my Laserjet M1212nf MFP as a scanner.  I'm trying to download the driver so that I can do.  Currently, I can only print and copy.  When I use the hp Web site, it asks for my product, and then when I select it I'm directed to a picture of him and it is said below download drivers that takes me back to find my product.  How do the driver?  How can I use my Laserjet as a scanner?

I found the HP folder and was able to scan.  It has not put an icon on my desktop as did my previous installations.

am installing m 1212nf mfp printer using the usb port but its taking time when you have to connect the usb cable after the connection of the step, it gives you the new device is connected now

    Hello

Because the printer is device plug-and-play USB this problem may occur if the printer cable is not properly connected or the USB cable is not compatible.

Please follow the methods and check if it works very well.

    Method 1:

Run the Microsoft fixit for the link.

Hardware devices do not work or are not detected in Windows

    http://support.Microsoft.com/mats/hardware_device_problems/

I suggest also refer to the operating manual of the printer for the correct installation instructions.

    Method 2:

Follow the steps in the link.

"Device setup has not completed" or the "Unknown device" Message appears in Windows during Installation of USB

  • bad driver for M1212nf MFP in Ubuntu

I use Ubuntu 14.04 and the HP prints OK in portrait mode, but the left 1/2 of the page is a stupid idea in landscape mode. (I did not notice if this is the part at the top or bottom of the page, as I turned immediately to see my picture).

I used Image viewer and thought that maybe something may be wrong with the program. It does automatically rotates the image 90 degrees as the best in landscape mode.

To check the problem I used Shotwell viewer. Then I could choose to rotate the image or not. When I did not rotate the image, it came out OK. When I asked rotate at 90 deg, I had the same 1/2 page trash I saw in the Viewer. So the problem seems to be a bad driver.

I removed the printer and reinstalled, but no change has taken place. Any suggestions?

Ubuntu users, I hope that my mistake will help others.

The point is that the installation from the repository does not work.

The right way to do things, it's go to the printer in Firefox. For me, it's to 192.168.1.103

Then you can go to the HP website and leave HP to load the appropriate software. It works, and it's the only thing that works.

I did a long time ago, but I've managed to forget...

Thanks for the help. It is always good to know that there are people out there willing to help.

  • Macbook pro to a jet m1212nf laser printer scan

    Hello

I'm trying to scan from a LaserJet M1212nf MFP to a MacBook Pro running Mountain Lion.

I installed the latest LaserJet driver from the HP website. Can I print using a USB connection. However I can not scan. If I open the HP Director, by clicking on the button Scan does nothing. If I open HP Scan I get a message: "no scanner available."

I'm lost. Please can you help me?

    Thank you very much.

I would recommend that download us the driver via Apple Software Update.

Before we do that, we want to uninstall all incompatible software, you may have installed on your computer by running the uninstall HP program located under Applications > HP or Hewlett-Packard folder.

After you do this, we want to download the drivers. The drivers for your product are available via Apple Software Update.

First and foremost, temporarily disconnect the cable USB from the printer to the printer or the computer. Then look for any HP Update available by clicking the Apple icon, updated software.

If no update could not be found, download the complete Apple HP printer drivers v.2.14:

Printer HP v.2.14 for OS X drivers

    http://support.Apple.com/downloads/DL907/en_US/HPPrinterDrivers2.14.dmg

Once you have completed the installation, you can plug your printer back in. After that the printer is reconnected, go into the settings to print under system preferences > print & scanning. To add the printer, click on the plus sign. You should see your printer listed here. Select it. If under the printer, see "use:  Make sure that tells the name of the printer and not AirPrint. Click on add down in the lower right.

    Good luck

  • LaserJet m1212nf network - how to get the printer in a network?

I have a LaserJet Pro M1212nf, who does not have wireless capability.  I'm on a desktop PC, Windows 7 and am connected with a USB cable from the computer to the printer. There is no other Windows 7 computers on this network, so so far I didn't have need of this feature.

I spent an hour trying to figure out how to be able to print from my iPad with Airprint, that comes with this printer.

The printer is shared, which I thought was enough, but apparently not. I found the instructions on the use of a printer wireless, which is not the case, and using an ethernet connection, which I am not, but nothing about the direct USB connection. I found instructions on changing a USB connection to an ethernet connection - this is what I have to do? I hope someone can help with this.

Should I switch from USB to ethernet to be seen on the computer network and iPad? There must be a way to do this, but I am confused.

    Thank you.

You should be able to install the printer with the normal software via an Ethernet connection to your router.

To start sounds like it is a driver problem. I want to start to be sure that deleting the software and relocation happened in the best way possible. I want you to follow my steps, I can be sure that we start both on the same page.

First of all, if you use a USB cable, be sure to remove it (it's important). Do not plug it in again until the software instructs you. Through devices and printers, programs and features and issues Device Manager and make sure that all copies, files, and programs related to the printer are removed. As indicated, and then restart the computer.

In the menu START menu type "%temp%" and press ENTER. Here, I want you to press Ctrl + A, and press DELETE. Some files you cannot delete them, ignore these files and delete the majority that allows it to.

find and install SOFTWARE to FEATURE FULL if it is available:

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=us&LC=en&DLC=en&product=3965849

Install and let me know the result!

    Have a great day!

    -Spencer

PS this software should include the installation via the USB port option and then convert to USB wireless > Wireless Setup Wizard.

  • LaserJet M1212nf: Problems setting up wireless printing

I can set up to print from my laptop with a USB connection to the printer. I want to be able to print when away from my office, so have tried for 2 years, on and off, to get my printer to print wireless. I spent probably 10 + hours trying to get this set up. In the end, I always end up having to reinstall the printer with the same old USB connection.

It drives me crazy. I'm a tech writer for a society of software and very savvy in computer science. However, my non-techie family have all managed to set up wireless printing at their home in 5 minutes or less with different brands of printers.

Here are the steps that I followed, although I also tried many variations, like trying with my USB cable connected or disconnected.

    (1) uninstall the current installation of the printer (USB).

    (2) on the printer itself, make sure that the settings > network settings are the default values.

    (3) using the latest drivers and installation .exe from the HP site, start a new installation of the printer.

    (4) when you are prompted, select "wireless."

RESULT: even if my firewall is turned OFF, search and indicates that he is there any printer on the network. (Huh? Which network?)

    (5) try again once and this time select "Network Setup."

RESULT: even if my firewall is turned OFF, search and says that it cannot detect a network.

If the wireless installation requires a network, but network installation does not cause a network to install, I don't know where to go from here.

    (6) I also tried downloading and installing the ePrint utility, but when I'm at halfway through the installation, it tells me that it cannot find my printer.

I am suspicious that my model M1212nf MFP may even not allow for wireless printing. Some info on the HP site says to check a particular button lights up to indicate that the printer is online. This light does not exist on my printer model. However, the parameters of the printer from my physics has parameters such as: "show IP address," etc., which would lead me to believe that it can work wireless.

I have read all the help related HP printer, and there is nothing which explains, in simple language, what are the types of cables, I need to set up a network and the Wi - Fi connection, when to plug them in, what facilities to perform on the many Add - ons available, etc.. I don't know that it's a 5 minute process if there was just a good explanation in the help of the UP of how do. Assistance would be appreciated!

    Hello @SKYdiz,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

I understand that you have had problems for the last 2 years and spent many hours trying to configure your HP LaserJet Pro M1212nf MFP for wireless printing. At this point I'll provide more information about it. First of all, are sitting you?

Unfortunately, the HP LaserJet Pro M1212nf multifunction printer isn't a model wireless printer. The "nf" at the end of the name of the printer is the abbreviation of 'network, fax. Therefore, if your printer is not able to connect to your router wireless, it CAN connect with an ethernet cable.

All you need to do is connect an ethernet cable to the back of your printer to your router. That all devices connected to this router even (whether through wireless or wired ethernet connections) would be able to 'see' your printer on the network and print it on your printer. For more information on configuring ethernet on your printer, please visit: Setup the printer to a wired network in Windows 7 for HP's LaserJet printers.

Now, if an ethernet connection does not work in your specific network, HP makes other Laserjet models that do not use the wireless function. Here are two LaserJet who are black only, multifunction wireless units that resemble your current printer model: HP LaserJet MFP HP LaserJet MFP M225dw Pro and M127fw Pro.

Please let me know if this clears up any confusion. If you have other questions or concerns, I'll be more than happy to help you. Happy new year!

  • [SOLVED * nix way] How to get a professional M1212nf MFP from HP LaserJet with Win 2008 R2 work?

    Hello

We bought four HP LaserJet M1212nf professional MFP and should have read forums first

Our goal is to give our Printserver (Windows Server 2008R2) the actual driver. Printer is used only from clients for Win 7 64 bit.

Whenever we install the driver on our 2008R2 printing service stops and has to be started manually.

In some trials, we could install the driver but when connecting to the network printer to a customer the printing service on the customer every time we stops try to print.

In several forums, I read about the problems with this printer based on the host and looking for a workaround solution. Read comments to disable bidirectional printing and disabling winding on the client. With this set of options does not stop my printing service, but also, it does not print

Universal driver does not work on this host-based printer.

Further, I tried HP Laserjet 4, pilot with the above mentioned switches together but that does not work, too.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Best regards from the Germany

    Sascha

    Hi pcwizard,.

now, here is our solution for this problem:

    1. A small linux of your choice of installation installation and install the cups
    2. Install the hplib (http://hplipopensource.com/hplip-web/index.html)
    3. Add the printer using the hp-setup utility (you must do this with each M1212; simply copy entries and change the ip in the configuration of printers will not work). The hp - Setup utility also installs the plugin owner.
    4. Create a new printer on your windows server
    5. Select new connection and create the connection with your new server name and printer cups
    6. Choose the HP Universal PostScript driver or any other postscript driver (otherwise the cups server will not make the task)
    7. In the printer properties select printing goes directly to the printer (for the cups in this case server)

Once you have completed the printer worked very well for each workstation (linux too).

I have now four printers work in my network.

    Best regards

    Sascha

  • LaserJet m1212nf MFP not recognized by OSX 10.6.6 for scanning

There are several ways to support a scanner on Mac OS X.

One is to provide all of your own software, which is what we usually have in the past and did with the printer in question. You can also provide an ICA driver that allows him to work with the Image Capture, preview and other Mac OS X software. We have recently begun to provide these drivers, but not for the M1212nf at this time.

Support of ICA will certainly to be considered for all future devices that release us, but so far there are a lot of devices that do not have this support.  The m1212nf model mentioned in this thread is not on our current list of ICA devices supported.

  • AirPrint from a PC to a LaserJet M1212nf multifunction printer?

    Hello!

I have a HP LaserJet M1212nf MFP and connected to the network via Ethernet and was delighted when I saw that I could Airprint (wireless) in all 3 iPhones and the iPad in the family!

I wasn't very happy when my 3 windows printers only ePrint using docs attached to emails and then only certain formats.   I expect this lack of functionality of a specific printer Apple, but not a HP printer!

Through Googleing I saw what I thought, this was the answer: to trick my PC into thinking it can print (wireless) to an airprinter (LaserJet M1212nf) through the network, but nothing panned as being...

HP has really disappointed this time around.  Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance
    Joe

The recommendation is how I'm set up...

I think I solved it however.

I had installed the original with a USB cable drivers, and when I disconnected, I looked for changes in configurations in print wireless driver, I even reinstalled the drive locally to nothing does not.

When I used the URL of the server web printer and installed the driver via the web server it installed the software again, but much smaller this time 50 MB vs. 200 MB, this newly installed printer will be printed as a network of all my apps windows printer.  He is represented by a different icon that suggests that there is not all the features of the inslalled USB driver, as analysis.

Every thing about this installation, of setting up ePrint, to solve this problem with the PC printing has been a nightmare.  HP really left the ball on the documentation understandable as far as I'm concerned.

    Thanks for your help. :-)
