M40X-295: solved unstable connection WLAN problem

When you use the WiFi network using the default settings on my m40x (I only put SSID and WPA password for), the connection is established (802.11.g) was often interruppted.
for example: listening to internet radiostreams, the download has been interruppted or websites is expired.

Solution 1: Force the m40x-adapter to use 802. 11B only.

Solution 2: update the driver wlan Intel version 9.0.2.0 (Intel wireless_9.0.2.0_ - _generic_TIC_97904.exe). This driver is located on the Intel site.
Now the speed of 802.11 g works (almost) well too. OK, the solution 1 is a bit more reliable.

My configuration:
M40X-295, WinXP Home
Router AVM FRITZ! Box Fon WLAN 7050, (802 11 b + g), WPA-TKIP
DSL 1 Mbit
WiFi-force about 95%
(1 m mobile cordless phone)

Hi Carsten

Thanks for this useful information.
I think the 9.0.2 is the new version of WLan.

Good job.

Thank you very much

I use talktalk as my internet provider.
I started having an intermittent connection and the internet on the router light goes red. Its a d-link router.

3 weeks a vist to a bt tech they now tell me that the problem might be my laptop.
How could it when he connects and then removes the iradic same connection.

    Hello

You said that the router disconnects Internet. Right?
So how can have this cell phone number? Sorry, but I don t understand this

In your case, I recommend to check the settings of the router.
You should check the update of the firmware and should also check if other computers laptops/computers connected to the same router would have the same problems.

If you are sure that your router is OK 100%, then you should check the notebooks of WLan.
In such cases, it s advisable to update WLan driver

    To my knowledge, the Satellite M40X 295 should support a screen 15,4 "(1280 x 800) / / Wide TFT color XGA TruBrite."
Check this site for some offers:

  • M40X-295 - change the OS language

I bought Satellite M40X-295. Is to have pre-installed XP with the German language. I have it here are the doubts,

    (1) is any know how to set the language to English?
There is no option available in the locale.

    (2) if I format the system then DVD recovery can restore the system back to normal? including all the necessary drivers?

    Thank you.

    Hello

Your laptop will be delivered with software provided, including a copy of Windows OEM. I think that the OEM license agreement states that the software can only be delivered in the language of the country where it was purchased. In the German case. There is no installation of the operating system to change that, although any subsequent application software you get can come with language (of your choice) in option files.

Product recovery DVD will allow you to completely restore your system to the State in which you received it. This will include all of the operating system (including drivers etc.) but may not include some utilities and applications. If this is the case then these additional products will have their own installation CD or DVD and will be have been included in the original packaging for your laptop.

Hope you enjoy your new laptop.

  • M40X-250: Unstable connection Wireless 54mbps

    Hello

A month ago, I bought a new m40x-250 and a brand new US Robotics maxg router, the problem is, I use it wireless and we put him on 54 Mbps, we got the network in the recommended version Robotics which is WPA, so everything seems normal, but the problem is after than many Connect minutes (internet) grave then the back, like ten times in an hour.

So I thought that it's my phone, so I sent it to Toshiba, complete check-up to the top, they find nothing, the system works perfectly! made me think and I set the router on 11 Mbps, now wifi works great, but my question is Daniel not on 54 Mbps? It should be cos it is as good as standard, on the router and the laptop (802.11 g) now I use 802, 11 b.
the only thing I can think is my pc card.
Can someone give me some advice here?

    Thank you!

  • Problem connecting, Win 7, WPA - PSK (computer think it's WEP). Managed to substitute, but now very unstable connection.

Hello, I use Windows 7 to my computer. Here wireless signal is encrypted with WPA - PSK TKIP, but my computer could not register as such (he believes that its WEP). I managed to force it to connect, by manually adjusting for WPA - PSK with TKIP (and the correct password) in the control panel.

However, the connection is extremely unstable. Often, he simply stops working, although the icon says that there is a link. (Note that this window of available connection has a large red cross next to the signal, because he claims that the settings do not match. He just logs occasionally when I start).

I wonder if there is a way to solve this annoying problem. I don't know what is causing the computer to see the signal as WEP, when it clearly is WPA - PSK.

Oh, I found what I think, it is the router in the basement: that said on it: Motorola SBS101E.

PS: I'm not good on the technical stuff (although I understand basic concepts such as network card drivers, etc., don't ask me not to disable or install a protocol without walking me through the steps).

    Thank you!

As I wrote, your problem is probably related to the adapter wireless in your office. Maybe it's as simple as that requires an updated driver, but it remains to be seen.

Result of your ipconfig is quite surprising.  Because you are in a university environment, if we cannot identify a problem with your wireless adapter, you may be able to request assistance from the University of the it Department.  See also comments below on the VPN.

Here - is more as a matter of interest than anything else - what some of your settings mean:

    Wireless network adapter

    • Your card is a Realtek RTL8188CE Wireless LAN 802.11n PCI-E NIC (Realtek RTL8188CE 1 x 1 11 b/g/n Wireless LAN PCI Express Half Mini Card Adapter, which seems to be installed on Lenovo ThinkPads).
    • Your card is automatically assigned (usually by the wireless router, but see below) an IP address of 10.92.129.20.  This address is part of what is called a 'Class A' network, which is generally only used by very large organizations (for example, a University).  This suggests that this wireless network is from University wireless access point rather than a router connected to the modem cable into your basement.

So it is possible that the antenna on your desktop computer wireless card is not in as good a place as your laptop computer to receive the signal. It's especially if your office uses a built-in wireless adapter, with the antenna at the back of the computer under a desk and near a wall. If you try USB wireless adapter for your desktop computer (or an antenna on an extension cord) move the antenna near a window, if possible.

    • The 'default gateway' for this connection (the address of the wireless router) is 10.92.128.1, which is in the same class A network.
    • The DHCP server (which is what affects your IP address card) is 195.130.132.102.  It is a public IP address belonging to Telenet/Pandora, a Belgian Internet service provider.  In almost all wireless home networks, the DHCP server is part of the router, so your situation is very different.

    Virtual private network (VPN)
What complicates your Internet connection is the fact that you seem to be using a VPN. This is identified as the 'card Ethernet Hamachi.' I saw many posts complaining that the Hamachi software interferes with various other network connections.  For example:

After the installation of LogMeIn Hamachi, my continuous wireless network connection disconnected from the internet every few minutes. The wireless connection is ok, but trying to access the internet, I get a message to reset the connection.

Once I got disabling the network Hamachi (Control Panel-> network) connection and Internet-> network connections, everything is back to normal.

It happens on two different routers, then the router is probably not the problem.

This happens with the wired connection.

I use Windows 7 Home Premium SP 1 64 Bit, Hamachi 2.0.3.89, Intel WiFi Link 5300 AGN.

    LINK

This is beyond my area of expertise.  If you are unable to determine a driver (or hardware) problem with your adapter wireless and you have installed Hamachi VPN software on your desktop and your laptop, assuming that you really need, you need to get help from the support service of some entity required or recommended use of Hamachi VPN software.

  • Problem connecting WLan on Satellite A60-186

I have a problem with Atheros AR5004g wireless network card on my PC since I bought it.
The problem is that if I try to connect the PC to any WiFi network that is found in the 'network' the system startup list to try the connection and write me this message: ' Attesa disponibiliti¿½ rete in corso "or... in the meantime translated"the availability of the network. but the connection never starts.

But... and it's funny... If I set up as manual connections of the "network list" a set up as the only automatic connections (e.g. access point) and I turn off the access point I can see it disappear in the form of the "network list". If I turn on once more and click on update network list, the wireless connection to the access point will automatically launch. The IP address and DNS address are automatically given to the system and it starts to work. But if I close the connection I can not connect once more (unless I'm not the same game).

    The thing is that:
-l' wireless adapter works (it doesn't is not out of the question use should not function even with 'games')
-I can not connect to any network 'normally '.
Can someone help me understand what the problem is?
Is it possible that I need to update the wireless adapter driver?

Thanks in advance for your help.
    Ciao

    Hello

Your ad is a little confusing.
You do not write on the connection. Have you used the windows WLan configuration or the Atheros WLan utility?
I advise to use the Atheros Wlan utility to configure the WiFi connection, because it is an Atheros Wlan card.
Of course, you can also check the availability of updates. If the new driver has been on the Toshiba site so you can try to install it.

  • Satellite C660 2QH WLAN problem--loss of connection all the ~ 30 min

    Hello world

I just bought a SAT C660 nine Toshiba and I faced a strange problem - I lose the internet connection every 30 minutes for about 3-5 minutes, then it connects all of a sudden again.

I've been reading about the problem here and I fixed my power settings (although this also occurs when the laptop is plugged in), and I installed the new WLAN driver: 1005.19.0420.2011 (my Wireless LAN Adapter is: 8188CE). I thought that he that could have the problem in my anti-virus program, so I uninstalled. A few restarts later everything was as before - problem persists.

    Help, please!

PS. I'm from Germany, where this is relevant.

    Hello

Are you sure this isn't question of Wlan router?
It would be interesting to know if you have the same problems with other devices connected to the Wlan.

Next to the idea that this could be a router issue I think you should check some WLan Card settings.
In the Wlan card-> properties-> tab Device Manager to disable the option to turn off the device to save power.

You said that you have installed/updated test driver the driver from Realtek page too.

  • Satellite P100-277 - recovery connection and WLAN problem

Hi, I have a Satellite P100-227 and of the format and reinstall windows. First of all, the Toshiba Recovery disk wouldn't work - it would go through the motions, but windows would freeze on the screen where it is intended to calibrate your screen before entering the windows installation. It is the SECOND disc I bought at Toshiba who broke by the way! I'm worried about my CD before ask you, I used this disc once before to shape about a year ago and it has not been touched for. I tried both discs and no work - the other oldest won't read even since the drivers of compression at the beginning of the recovery.

So I'm an old XP disc (I run XP btw) and decided to try to install windows this way to check that my laptop was working, which is - I installed XP very well to a good Windows disc and a code is legitimate. However, I have now no drivers for my laptop and the internet does not work - my wireless will not connect at all, let alone register that there is a wireless connection (he used to appear in the lower right, once it was turned on). "When I go to Device Manager and look for network adapters, all there is ' 1394 Net adapter" is said works very well.

I wonder if there is no drivers for my wireless card, as I have not used the Toshiba restore disk. I tried to put in the 'work' toshiba disk in to see if there are drivers out there that I can access but can't find anything. I can't afford, or be bothered to order a different CD from Toshiba that will break after a format, so my question is; can someone link me to the drivers/software I need for my laptop to connect wirelessley to internet please?

I hope I gave enough information for a person to be able to answer me - I need my laptop ASAP to work!

    Thank you!
