  • Want J010dx m7: windows will not start until after full recovery of the system with new HARD drive

    Hello world

    I need help here.

My HP envy m7 J010dx works perfectly with my original hard drive (1 TB).

I am preparing a second HDD (NEW 320) as backup.

I took off the Moose HDD (1 TB) and replace it with the NEW HARD drive (320GB) and try to do a full recovery of the system with the HP recovery DVD.

After full system recovery and laptop computer needs to be restarted in order to continue, the laptop keeps restarting on the logo of windows 8.

I think it says device not found Boot. Also a test using the UEFI tool material HP and all pass.

Replacing the NEW HARD drive with the original of the old HARD drive and it start normally.

What can go wrong here in this case? Thank you very much for the help.

    Concerning

    John

OK, I read through the thread and this is my point of view on this based on works including restore process with the user created a recovery (UCRDs) media which the user indicated that they used.

If you just want to jump to the conclusion at the bottom, you can see my opinion. If you want to know 'why' Please read the entire post.

    Model No.: m7-j010dx

    Product #: E0K83UA #ABA

    Ships OS: Windows 8 (64-bit)

Recovery HP part No. Kit: 730336-002 (3 DVDs + extra)

User replaced the HARD drive with a 1 TB hard drive 5400 RPM with HP ProtectSmart hard drive Protection a new hard drive is a Seagate Momentus 7200.4 ST9320423AS 320 GB 7200 RPM 16 MB Cache SATA 3.0 GB / s 2.5 "Notebook internal hard drive.

With the help of UCRDs sent media recovery media (SSRDs):

When the UCRDs are created, only the drivers for the HW operation (this is a critical point, that I will look later) are burned to the user created a recovery media.  Consider this a snapshot of the current HW, the base drivers and software applications.   If you change the HW on your laptop or desktop where the additional device requires a different driver for these features, a few questions you might - recovery process could stop because he can't find the right driver, a blue screen, a lack of start-up or other unstable system.

A few years ago, I had a PC that would not recover because the Blu - ray (ODD) optical disk drive did not work.  I replaced the WEIRD Blu - ray with a generic DVD/CD burner into the new part of Blu - ray is presented.   I got the PC using SSRDs thinking I would put some time and just install the Blu - ray after the PC has been recovered.   The PC recovered and when the new Blu - ray showed I installed the unit and guess what?  All PCs have shown in Device Manager and applications was a generic ODD - no Blu - ray capability and ability to read Blu - ray content in the default HP provided for multimedia applications delivered with the PC.  Applications were there but no Blu - ray capability.

Huh?  It looks that I did not put any time at all.

I inserted the new Blu - ray ODD and distributed recovery with the HP SSRDs.

After recovery, I had all the Blu - ray drivers and applications supported Blu - ray.

The difference between UCRDs and SSRDs:

UCRDs provide a glimpse of what is installed and functional both disks are created.

Version Digest of the player on what is happening with SSRDs to retrieve a PC (before Windows 10):

SSRDs have all the drivers for all the HW and SW qualified for the unit.  There may be several drivers for hard drives, different types/screen resolutions, sides, etc.  Based on the characteristics of the specific laptop / desktop a process is run called "Do / don't.   After entering the recovery SDRD, the Notebook media boots to Recovery Manager.  The first step is a raw copy of all the contents of the disc on a temporary partition.  Following the Do / do not process looks at the characteristics of this specific unit and remove all other drivers and applications not used by this device.  Drivers and the only successful applications are the features supported.   And then, the new operating system and recovery partition is created.   The PC end recovery of cleaning process and restart the laptop / desktop. And, Yes, you guessed it, if you create the user created a recovery media, you only have the drivers for HW devices and applications of HP on the PC at the time.

So, that being said, what could be the cause/solution?

Hard drives can be different enough so that a different driver (not the UCRDs) is necessary for the newly installed HW.

The SSRDs are supported on the new HARD drive installed?

I don't know, I have an office boy, and I have not tried on this model of laptop.

If you have / acquire SSRDs, I recover the laptop with the new installed HARD drive and see if it works.  It may or may not.  I don't know what drives were qualified for this laptop.

If this does not work, the last option is cloning via USB connection (old HARD drive in the PC, new HARD drive connected to a USB 3 via the SATA Adapter (dongle) USB port, install or download software cloning and cloning the old HDD to the new.)   I just did this on the two older Windows 7 computers laptops using a SanDisk Ultra kit.  He has worked on both units.

    Conclusion:

I don't think that the problem is caused from a HARD drive of 1 to a 320 GB HARD drive, as it meets the minimum specs for a complete installation.  I think the problem is related to the use of UCRDs to retrieve and the UCRDs do not have the HARD driver/firmware/application disc.

    But then again, I know.

  • Envy of HP Touchsmart m7-j010dx: Envy of HP Touchsmart m7-j010dx: problem loading battery

Problem started two weeks ago. Could not power on the laptop, tried several outlets different. Bought a laptop universal power cord/charger and it has not always worked. Removed the battery, power cord and could start on computer... Replace the battery, but the battery would not hold a charge even if the battery light was amber and the icon in the toolbar of Win: 36% available (plugged in, load). Click the icon and displays 36%, calculate... Laptop left on all night with the battery and 8 hours later, he was always at 36%. With laptop turned on, I can remove the power cord for laptop and battery will continue operating, depleting the battery but when I plug the power supply cord does not charge the battery (without green light or the light).

Bottom line, power cord with battery and have no power (green or amber) period. Remove the battery, attach the power cord and I can start the computer.

Ran Test systems - check the battery: primary - replace (42) and receipt failure ID: QAMPPV - 82387 T-MFGJXF-C0D703. This failure on a new battery just received two days ago. Same errors with the original battery.  Attempted a power reset without success.

I could run cell phone using only the power cord, but that would defeat the purpose of owning a laptop. Battery-operated drain only battery with no way to recharge.

Help! Searching the forum for the answer to my problem and found none.

Thanks for confirming my assessment. Laptop bought in October 2013 and is not under warranty. New motherboard costs nearly one-third of the cost of the new laptop is not profitable to replace the motherboard.

Is there more to the process than that? I don't get what is happening.

    Thanks in advance...

Something that has worked for many (not all) Windows 8 laptops_enter BIOS and change the date to 01/01/2014. Save & Exit and restart again recovery disc. They pass through the process_but - on the first restart that launches Recovery enter BIOS to verify the date is still 01/01/2014. If so go back to reset. If not change again once and then resume.

  • Problems of simple pass with Windows 8.1

I just bought a HP ENVY TouchSmart m7-j010dx Notebook PC running Windows 8.0 about 5 days ago. I was able to configure Simple Pass, scan and add numbers and associated passwords. Then I upgraded to Windows 8.1. Now, I am unable to open SimplePass, add extra finger scans, or change the settings since the last update to Windows 8.1.

I tried to re - install the program as a function of repair. It works by welcoming and accepting a fingerprint at the opening. When I click on the program in my Start menu as it begins to open, load databases, then disappears.

I then uninstalled Pass Simple and re-installed after you download it again from HP at this link:

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-122818-1 & CC = US & DLC = in & LC = in...

During the installation, there was a message needed me true API (x 64), which found the program installation and re-installed and then installed http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp63001-63500/sp63224.exe

After you have reinstalled successfully Simple version 6.0.100.276, I rebooted my computer. However, the program is still not fully functional. I still can't open SimplePass, add extra finger scans, or change the settings. I am able to connect to Windows with a fingerprint, but he didn't ask me for analyses when I connect to different web sites.

I'd appreciate the help. Thank you.

    See you soon,.

This message is for everyone who has problems SimplePass with Windows 8.1.

Christopher of Jeff, executive relationship at the Head Office of Hewlett - Packard Company contacted me personally after I had tried for 5 five months get HP to fix this. I submitted to a team climbs HP Case Manager, who offered me the following options:

    # 01 Fix my computer free of charge. This shipment of the machine to them and the possability that I could lose data if they need to restore the operating system. I would be also without the computer.

    # 02 Give me a free 3 year warranty extension on my current computer which includes a home service on some components, but not the motherboard and cover against accidental damage.

    # 03 Give me an equivalent model new HP laptop computer with extended warranty of 3 years including in-home services and coverage against accidental damage. For this, restoring them my old computer AFTER transfer of programs and data to the new machine files. It was suggested that I go to the HP online store and browse the available templates. They also indicated that they would be willing to make minor improvements if my exact specifications are no longer available.

I am sure that these same choices could and should be available to ANYONE who also had these same problems very frustrating and annoying. After all, we all paid an additional amount for software and SimplePass fingerprint scanning equipment and are entitled to expect that it works with all versions of Windows 8.

If, as I have, you have also made several attempts to get this problem resolved by HP, Best Buy, Microsoft, or any other third party, without success, try to contact Jeff Christopher directly at [email protected].

I hope that this could finally solve this problem, and everyone gets the same fair and equal treatment that was offered to me.

I must also congratulate HP to finally take a step upward, appropriating and goes the extra mile to resolve this problem. Accordingly, my view of HP and my loyalty to them, increased considerably.

    See you soon,.

  • "Boot device not found" Message After BIOS Update

Today I was invited by the HP Support Assistant software that a BIOS update was available, so I got the application download and install the update. When the computer is back to the top, it says the boot device is not found.

    Ugh.

Can someone help me with this?

I have a HP ENVY TouchSmart m7-j010dx Notebook PC running Windows 8.1. Laptop was working fine before the update, which means that I probably would not have allowed the update of the BIOS.

I found the problem (for me, anyway).

    1) go into the BIOS (F10 from your black screen) configuration settings.

    (2) fix the "Legacy Boot Options" and save your changes.

As soon as I did it, it starts immediately in Windows.

  • Black screen persists after the recent update of the BIOS

    ENVY of HP TouchSmart M7-J010DX

    Hello

I recently received an update through HP who instructed me to update my BIOS, I did. Now, after I turn on my machine, I don't see is a black screen. The power light is on and the fan seems to work (I can feel the warmth of the event). I have a pretty good feeling that this recent BIOS update may have done something that has caused this, and I would like to cancel the updates to the BIOS, if possible.

I looked at and tried everything what I found on this page of the site of troubleshooting HP, except for the part of memory modules as I did of the latest changes to the memory modules. None of these suggestions helped with the black screen problem.

The machine was reconditioned at the factory, and I've had it for about a month, but began to use it recently. The only changes I have made are on the HARD drive: I recently picked up a new SSD, added to the machine and makes the HARD drive, the machine came with a secondary drive (after wiping). Everything worked perfectly well until the update to the BIOS.

I don't know what else I should do/try at this point.

    Any suggestions?

Hello Mrstenter and thank you for your response.

Unfortunately, I saw this page, you suggested before posting, tried and it doesn't work.

As a matter of fact, I had to return to HP for repair the machine. Following the conversation with a technical support engineer, we agreed that the problem is the update of the BIOS HP pushed out.

In short, the update of the BIOS HP pushed to brick my machine, and I had to send to HP to have restored it I couldn't find anything else to deal with the update of the BIOS on my own.

I appreciate your attempt to address the issue, however. I hope your solution helps others, but he couldn't help me.

  • Where to find the details of the Bios Update

    Hello

    I just updated my HP Envy/Win Bios 4.3 8.1.

I would like to find a wepage where can I find details about the changes in each version of the Bios, a Web page that I can also use later for details of future Bios.

    Thank you.

    Hello

I found the details of updating the current BIOS (F.43) under the software & drivers section for the TouchSmart from HP Envy m7-J010DX. There is no record of previous changes to the BIOS version.

The information of the laptop is fn + esc and the label under the battery.

Product name: HP Envy TouchSmart (TS) (fn + esc)

Product name: m7-J010DX (label under the battery)

Product model: E0K83UAR #ABA (fn + esc and the label under the battery)

Product E0K83UA number accepts without the R #ABA part and form most suitable for this model number, however the E0K83UA lists a 1600 x 900 HD display, and the E0K83UAR #ABA has a full HD (FHD) 1900 x 1080 screen.

Speculation: it is a refurbished model we HP, and it may be that the R indicates that it in the model number. The #ABA can be a qualifier of renovation indicating the State of the appearance of the machine after renovation, #AAA being the best.

    Thank you.

  • After the Bios Update get persistent "reboot required" screen, impossible access tune

    Hello

I just updated the Bios F.23 to F.36 as recommended by the HP Wizard for a laptop of HP Envy m7-J010DX, Win8.1.

However, I now get the persistent "reboot required" screen whenever I try to start the HP Wizard. I tried to reboot several times to nothing does not.

I had this problem before, but I was able to access the HP Wizard at this time (I don't know why the problem eventually disappeared, possibly one of several updates).

I would like advice on how to solve this problem and regain access to the HP Wizard.

    Thank you.

Do you mean to say HP Support Assistant, instead of tune?

Uninstall the version you have and that you install the latest version from the download section of your laptop Support Portal.

are you mobile operating system Windows 8 or 8.1 Windows computer?

Always include this information when posting. We can see through the inernet and know what is installed. My ESP is now broken.
