Mac Mini replacement screws?

I have a Mini Mac for end-2012 which is in pieces and eventually acquired all the parts to put it back together. However, it is missing a few screws (of different sizes), and I can't find anywhere online that has those that I need.

Having never rebuilt an Apple computer (I've built some PCs), I wonder what recommend people in this situation. Should I take it to a hardware store and try different sizes until I have found those who work?

Any advice/help would be great; is appreciated. Thank you!

Ttake a look on the Mac. I I disassembly and repair on iFixIt guides. They usually list the scree size and type in their descriptions. Depending on what you need, their kits to repair one of the screws.

Hello, my Mac mini 6 years now, I would like to prepare for the day when I need a new, it would be simpler to use a time machine to transfer photos etc. of a Mac mini to another, or just transfer directly from my Mac mini present on a new when I ended up buying it? Thank you.

    Phil

Time machine or migration assistant would work, both are integrated into OS X and compatible between the different iterations of Mac OS X if there is nothing else that your data is backed up or you can simply migrate from the old mac mini to the new when you get it. If all the data on this computer you can migrate above in its entirety.

The Mini can run 10.11.x, the only thing I'm not sure of is if the supplied Apple MBP 6/Gbs Player supports the Mimi 3/Gbs speed... most do, but...

  • Mac Mini (mid-2010) fan running full speed

I went on the hard drive of a few years for one SSD OEM and the fan runs all the time.  In my view, there is a connector on the card, which has no connection with it.

I read that this occurs when the thermal sensor is not placed on the new hard drive.

How many connection should be here soon out of the drive to connect to the map?

    How can I fix?

    TIA

The original HD had a sensor taped to the road with adhesive tape double faces. You had to move the sensor to the new drive. Without the detector, the fan runs at full speed.

What ha [[ERA of the sensor on your Mac?

  • Plug a new mac mini in 2009 imac 24?

My iMac 24 "early 2009 is really starting to show it's age. Currently he is on OSX 10.11.6 which is the last one at this time.  Hardware upgrade only that I did it is to the top of the Ram of 4 GB to 8 GB.  He got a new HD due to a failure in his last month of AppleCare Plus (November 2012).  However, it's getting really slow but I have 4 external HD plugged into it and an external USB hub, as I am constantly plug additional devices attached. There is nothing wrong with the screen 24 ".

In the last week or two, I went back to my mac, while he was in "sleep" mode and not able to reactivate.  After the first time this happened, I copied all the files, I was interested in one of my external HD in the event of a total failure.  I had a second time where I couldn't turn it back on and both times I clicked on the wired mouse, hit several keys on the keyboard and even tried pressing the power button.  Nothing has worked.  A few minutes later he came to life.  I'm confused as to what is happening.  Don't think that it is the internal HD only when the original was dying, he deploys all those rattling noises.

So finally, my question: would I be able to replace this iMac with a mac mini using my screen 24 "beautiful?  Or better yet, run them both?  Might as well work simultaneously connected together somehow?  (I'm guessing the last question).  I'm just collecting information on the upgrade of my system before I die to a stranger may be soon time.  The difference in price of buying a mac mini compared to a new iMac 21 "or 27" is also a lot.

Hoping I can get some good info to help me make those decisions.  Thanks in advance!

Your iMac model is too old to support the target Display Mode. See the article Apple on it.

You can replace your iMac with a Mac mini, but you will need a separate standalone screen. You cannot use the 24 "iMac as a display of your Mac mini.

  • Curious about operating a business on Mac Mini

    Hello

I want to start a debate (I hope a good).

I am a serial entrepreneur but my goal set on IT Support for the past two years. I used a combination of devices on this time, but more recently, an Early 2011 MacBook Pro 15 "(mis à jour depuis 4Go RAM/500Go HD 16 Go RAM/1 to Solid State hybride)." This computer went down on me a few months before, so I'm using (until I can afford to replace) using my iPhone 6 more (64 GB) and my iPad 3 (32 GB) to run my business.

My question and I want to see the experience of you guys, that's what it would look like to continue to use my iPhone/iPad for the mobile aspect of my business (travel to customers) and use a Mac Mini for any research, diagnostic, etc., purposes of marketing/design? I have said (and this asked in another post) that I could swap my MacBook Pro HD/RAM out and put it in the Mini. I have been corrected later about the RAM, which is very good to buy more RAM.

    What think you of all?

    Thank you

    Michael

do not operate your business as a task that requires a resource very for a computer really

4 k video edition and edition of images modeling or 3d very very very high resolution are demanding tasks

and again yes 4 GB is slow for more recent versions of Mac OS x

They told me I could swap the Mini drive/RAM for what is in my MBP and save money. Is this true?

  • Change the hard disk of 1.4 Ghz Mac Mini end of 2014

Good morning Apple community, so here's the problem: I had a voltage breakdown because via the USB port of an EPSON LX - 300 printer, at present when the USB and the Mac Mini contact, ventilation Mac shutoff valve and after a few tries to do turn it finally do. But I see that a gray folder appears with an exclamation mark, then, with my other mac I download OS X El Capitan and do a Booteable USB, after that I enter the utilities disk and found that the "Macintosh HD" was not there and 2 USB 3.0 also didn't work. I picked up at a technical Service allow in my city and have told me that the HARD drive is broken and must be replaced, they say it could be replace by an of a 7200 rpm or 5400 RPM HARD drive RPM HARD drive, also says that couldn't put an SSD. I start research and found it is possible to put an SSD without problem. So my question is that's for sure, so I trust that an SSD will work with flawessly, and that I will also get a big performance improvement.

    My Mac is:

Mac Mini end of 2014 1.4 Ghz 4 GB of RAM, Intel HD 5000 and a 500 GB drive HARD 5400 RPM death.

So, my best regards to the community and hope for a response.

I've been running my 2014 MM off an external SSD with USB 3.0 since the beginning of this year, after a bunch of trial and error; That's what I have:

Unfortunately, I don't have much advice to give you else make sure you have a proper forum for IT. From my experience, the bad speaker will make the difference in whether or not the Mac recognizes the SSD on initialize toward the top.

    Good luck!

    Question:

    Video signal is de-energized.

    Hi all

I use this machine to run Logic Pro X. I tried a few monitors and different cables, but the result is the same.

the video signal sporadically goes out. The only way I can get it is back to turn off the Mini for a hour or stick it in the fridge for 5 minutes. It doesn't seem to be dependent on the temperature, since it happens a lot less in the months more cold however showed the journal to monitor temperature as low as 73 C time and he fell again the thermal signal can therefore not the question.

The fan seems to work and I tried to change the memory to return with noticed no difference. I recently replaced the OCW SSD due to premature failure and spin a new installation of El Capitan on a new drive. I eliminated the monitor and cable as a culprit, so I think that I am dealing with an internal failure. The machine is not under warranty.

I read a lot of posts on mini Mac in thermal shutdown models particularly image, mine has not overheated or goes out, he simply loses its video signal. Fans and ports are clean and free of dust.

    Everyone knows about this problem?

Install a fan speed and temperature app to help you determine if it is really related monitoring temp.

  • Mac Mini server RAID spoil

This follows a previous thread of mine.  Previously, the Mac mini server (2009, 3.1 I think) would not start.  The Apple logo and the spinning wheel seems forever.

I found the boot disk and a USB optical drive and so I went in disk utility.  I got the software RAID 1 set up.  Hard drives were fine, physically, but the whole RAID said it is "degraded" and one of the volumes said it failed.  I tried rebuilding it but failed.  I did not delete the volume down, instead, I deleted the whole RAID, thinking that I would be able to start the disks as standalone.  Instead, or volumes are mounted, they not only mount when I click Mount, and when I turn on the machine, I now get the folder with the?.  No volumes appear when I hold down the option key when starting.  I tried discs of fixation of the Terminal and he says they were mounted with success, but they were not.  I must be missing something in the commands, I don't know them well.  I tried to create a new RAID array, but he said that all the data would be deleted.  At any given time, two RAID volumes said that they failed, and then the RAID array would not appear or appear offline as opposed to gradient.

I screwed myself by removing the raid array?  Both drives are dismantled and their partition type is "Apple_RAID_Offline".

Can I fix this and back up my data?

I fixed readers are not mounted or named myself.  They are (were) mounted as an independent non-RAID drives.  They needed to be repaired and could not repair one of them says however, disk utility.  Disk utility also told me at my backup files and wipe the readers.  How can I back up my files if I can't start the machine?  There is no Finder on Mac OS X Server installation disc.

    Any suggestions?

  • Drive external hard (connected to the Mac mini USB) disconnect during use

I have a 3 TB (WD green) hard drive in an external hard drive enclosure "miniStack MAX Media", connected to my Late 2012 Mac mini via USB.

I don't know when he started to do this, but I recently noticed that it was dismantling even when she was in use; the error was:

    Disc eject does not correctly
EJECT 3 ' TB' before you unplug or turn off.

I replaced the USB cable and saw the same mistakes.

I moved the HARD drive to a different box. same mistakes.

I swapped the HARD drive to a whole new WD 4TB blue; same mistakes.

So now I have a new drive in a new case with a new cable, and I see the same messages "Disk not ejected correctly".

(By the way the disk utility has shown that the two discs were fine when I ran first aid.)

This brings me to assume that the problem is with my Mac mini, which runs at El Capitan and is fully aware of the updates of the operating system.

Recommendations on next steps to investigate and resolve this problem?

It seems that your external draws too much power. That shows the report of your system? You have an external power supply for external drive? Have you tried to use all the USB ports on your Mac?

  • AirDrop does not work between Mac mini end of 2014 and 6 s iPhone more

    Hello!

I'm here for the first time. A little more last year, I bought a Mac mini end of 2014 with Core i5 clocked at 2.6 GHz, 8 GB RAM and 5400 RPM HARD drive. I replaced the HDD for an SSD, Samsung EVO 850 250 GB, to be correct. I also have an iPhone 6 Plus and does not AirDrop between my devices. They discover each other. Update both OS X and iOS on a regular basis, so that's not the problem. Check on this issue and finding a solution a have met this Airdrop is not my Mac mini 2012 and I have a few questions:

I checked that TRIM Enabler Coulon, but later on my Mac I searched this Samsung EVO can't GARNISH. What it means? Download and install TRIM Enabler would be unnecessary, because the problem isn't here? Everything is fine with the Bluetooth, WiFi, my 6s more connects to the other MacBook Pro Retina early 2015, as the new MacBook 12 "iPads and iPhones, too. Please help me, thank you in advance.

10.10.4 and later Apple does not allow that you caraa select TRIM and third part SSD. See:

Can yo test to see if AirDrop works among other devices?

like the iPhone with another device iOS or Mac or Mac with another Mac or iOS device?
