Drive external hard (connected to the Mac mini USB) disconnect during use

I have a 3 TB (WD green) hard drive in an external hard drive enclosure "miniStack MAX Media", connected to my Late 2012 Mac mini via USB.

I don't know when he started to do this, but I recently noticed that it was dismantling even when she was in use; the error was:

Disc eject does not correctly
EJECT 3 ' TB' before you unplug or turn off.

I replaced the USB cable and saw the same mistakes.

I moved the HARD drive to a different box. same mistakes.

I swapped the HARD drive to a whole new WD 4TB blue; same mistakes.

So now I have a new drive in a new case with a new cable, and I see the same messages "Disk not ejected correctly".

(By the way the disk utility has shown that the two discs were fine when I ran first aid.)

This brings me to assume that the problem is with my Mac mini, which runs at El Capitan and is fully aware of the updates of the operating system.

Recommendations on next steps to investigate and resolve this problem?

It seems that your external draws too much power. That shows the report of your system? You have an external power supply for external drive? Have you tried to use all the USB ports on your Mac?

  • EPC2203 modem cannot connect to the Mac via USB?

I searched all threads and you can't find something to solve my problem.

My ISP sold me the modem Scientific Atlanta EPC2203 cable recently. I can't connect it to my Mac (10.5.7) via ethernet no problem at all. But I can't get a connection via a USB port. The modem operating manual mentions for Mac OS X USB connectivity, but does mention all the details on how to establish the connection: we talk about the installation of PC drivers. Supplied with the modem installation CD only applies to the PC, it seems that I have to take extra steps such as installing a Mac driver? I couldn't find the Mac drivers adapted on internet, then I start to think that this modem is not simply done to connect to the Mac via USB?

    Any help is very appreciated.

To make your Modem work with USB connectivity, you must install the Modem drivers on your computer. You can try to search for the Drivers that works on the MAC computer or else you can contact the support Tech Atlanta, because they can let you know where you can find the drivers for your Modem. Or well you googled around and you can find the drivers for your Modem which are Compitable MAC.

  • HP w2207h monitor: HP monitor crashes if connected to the Mac Mini

My w2207h monitor works fine connected to 2 computers. A Dell laptop connected with a cable HDMI and a Fujitsu PC connected with VGA cable. I spend between the 2 with the menu key of monitors and the function 'change the video input '. However, I just buy a Mac Mini and connected via HDMI but now, pass the VGA to HDMI causes the monitor to crash/power down. Even the light around the power button goes off and nothing works. To relight the monior screen, the only way is to disconnect the cable from power for a few minutes. The monitor works with an another old laptop connected via HDMI as doeas the Mac Mini connected to an old television set. I thought HDMI HDMI was, but this monior dislikes my Mac. Any ideas?

Thanks for the information Dunidar. A long session, running tests with Apple confirmed that this monitor does not work with Mac Mini. The only solution was to buy a new monitor :-(

  • drive external hard connected via usb hub powered Time Capsule guard fall...

    Hello.

Try using a player external 3.5 "connected via USB hub powered to my Time Capsule to serve as a backup Time Machine secondary.

When I connect the external hard drive, it turns out, and everything seems good (Yes it is correctly formatted). I see the external hard drive in my time machine preferences panel and also the desktop browser window, etc..

After selecting the drive hard as the second backup TM, I start TM. After a few minutes the backup fruitbodies. Audit of airport utility, the drive no longer appears in the profile of Time Capsule. I can't turn back the drive without unplugging / plugging the USB cord. I went to HD (WD green 4to) and HGST 4to - deleted both.

What is the speaker (the box is powered)? Can you have a USB hub between the external hard drive and time capsuls? Something else?

Just seems like something somewhere that expire, causing it to drop the connection...

Thanks for your useful suggestions to fix this!

Is your TC the Gen5, model AC?

I must say that your experience is not uncommon. I tested it myself recently and was disappointed in how the poor reliability has been... Although not as bad as yours... in fact cutting in a few minutes to start a backup is ridiculous.

What is the speaker (the box is powered)?

Quality of the envelope varies a lot... What is it??

If this is the typical brand X... Plug it into your Mac. is it reliable?

Go to your control panel and dig up the actual USB chip used... I don't know if we can help on type a lot. But it helps us determine the fleas are a problem.

I found the hard drive in the finder to mount helped... not the sparsebundle that must be mounted by Time Machine... but the disk must be mounted in the finder so that you can copy files back to him.

I start TM. After a few minutes the backup fruitbodies.

Check in the finder, it has created the sparsebundle and works.

Can you have a USB hub between the external hard drive and time capsuls?

It's our usual recommendation... but he won't always help... especially if the USB hub is another brand X...

Note that all societies are changing USB tokens at the drop of a hat... some seller of a rival company arrives and offers them 1 c off the coast of 1 million chips it is common to spend even in the middle of a race. Even the tenors have no satisfactory fixed hardware...

The computer has loads of memory... and may contain drivers for hundreds of different USB tokens... but the TC is a very limited amount of space and with questions if the driver is not fair.

I started a thread for a database just now... has not progressed much.

  • Drive external hard connected via USB hub: icons not showing on desktop

Hi... on an iMac 2015, using a USB hub 3.0 occasionally to connect an external hard drive (which stores these things as art assets)... but the external hard drive icon does not appear on the desktop... it IS in the sidebar of Finder, though...

But on the icon the Finder sidebar, the small icon "eject" gray is missing, and the only way to eject is to right click and select "eject" or use the eject button in the Finder toolbar... it's okay...

But is there a way to display the icon on the desktop, so I can always remember to eject the disks attached?

(the desktop icon shows normally when connected directly via the USB ports at the rear)

    Thank you.

Finder-> Preferences-> general, check the appropriate boxes under "show these items on the desktop".

  • Connection of the old Mac Iomega Zip to the Mac Mini

I couldn't find an answer to this common question I could map to a solution to my problem, so:

I have an old Iomega 250 MB Zip disk that I used on a Mac of pre-iMac. It is a parallel port connection. I'm trying to use it on a Mac mini running El Capitan. I am trying to connect a parallel cable mini / USB. I am recovering some important files from this bygone era. I have the Mac Ziptools drive.

I don't know if it's to see the player: he seems afflicted to a connected player ID, but can't open it nor report any info on this.

So, in fact do this as shown? If this is not the case, how can I do this? Thank you.

I do not know its being a common question. At least not in this decade.   My G4 has a Zip drive, but it dates back to 2002.

I don't remember if the readers required Zip one driver special for which I suspect 99.999% there is no version of El Capitan.  He could have that included in the operating system returns with OS9, but because people have stopped using Zip disks long ago should not appear in a newer operating system.

  • the hard drive of my computer is purchased full.i a drive.how external hard change outside the primary disk so I can download music easily?

the hard drive of my computer is purchased full.i a drive.how external hard change outside the primary disk so I can download music easily.right now my external backup just my computer that isn't doing me good

    original title: external hard drives

You don't want to change your external drive to your main drive.

You can move your music files on the external drive - or you can move other data on the disk to make room for your music on the internal drive.

What applications do you use to play music?

As described in the first link below, you can move your full "My Documents" folder on the external drive.  Alternatively, you can simply move your music files.  If such an arrangement would give you a satisfactory performance, however, depends on how your external drive is connected (for example, USB 1.1, USB 2.0, USB 3.0, eSATA, Firewire, network) and other hardware features of your computer.

Not all of the following conditions will be applied to you, but some of the tips can be useful.

There are a number of things you can do to- temporarily - free up disk space.  The only real solution, however, is to get a bigger internal hard drive.   You can move the data to your external drive, but if it's the data that you use frequently, slower access times may annoy you.  Therefore, I do not recommend that you move your My Documents folder in its entirety on the external drive, but you can certainly do this by following the related instructions.

    • You can run Disk Cleanup (start > run > cleanmgr > OK)
    • You can reduce the size allocated for the restoration of the system to about 1 GB (right click on desktop > properties > system restore > settings)
    • You can disable hibernation (if you don't use it) (right click on an empty spot on the desktop > properties > screen saver > power > Hibernate)
    • You can disable the indexing of the drive, which will also speed up your computer a bit (http://lifehacker.com/031440/turn-off-indexing-and-speed-up-windows-xp)
    • You can reduce the size of your Internet browser cache (depending on the browser that you use)
    • You can remove most of the $NTUninstallKBxxxxxx files $ following the directions here: http://windowsxp.mvps.org/Hotfix_backup.htm (read the warnings in the gray box first)
    • See also:

" How to recover disk space on Windows Server 2008 and Windows XP computers? ."

" Forty ways to free disk space ."

But none of these answers you will earn really large amounts of space for very long.  The term solution time is a bigger hard drive.

In the meantime, download and run JDiskReport, that will show you graphically what files take up more space and seem to so indicate what files you must move it to your external drive.  If you want to move an application, you will need to uninstall and then reinstall it specifying your external drive as the installation location.  You can not simply move the files.

  • Connection drive external hard am.

    Hello world
I wonder if it is possible to connect the drive external hard am to z3?
In the light of others do it on the other android device. Got an otg cable, plugged my HDD but the phone is not supported it or I'm doing something wrong.

Any help with this would be appreciated.

Yes, you can check what file system that is used if you connect to a PC, right-click on the drive in the Solution Explorer and select Properties.

It is possible to convert NTFS to FAT without deleting all data, but I do it without the first run a backup in case something goes wrong. And if you have files bigger than 4 GB it will be problems with these as FAT32 does not support that. exFAT supports, but I didn't know of any tool that can convert NTFS to exFAT without wiping the drive.

  • Cannot access the files from the internal hard drive that has been converted to drive external hard after the motherboard is dead

I can't access the files from an internal hard drive that has been converted to drive external hard after the motherboard is dead. I think that my files are still there, as shown in the volume of the player volume ~ 500 gb which is almost completely full. But I can't access most files, including documents and settings. When I took 'ownership' of the folder, I could open the TI but then it showed everything that was in my documents and settings on the computer file I used to open it, not the documents of the car.

Uhm... I think the issue here is a misunderstanding of what you watch.

If you want to access your files from the old hard drive - you need to look in the right place.  If the old system was "Windows 7", "Documents and Settings" is the * wrong * place to look and "Users" would be the place to go.

You * will * take ownership and change permissions on ALL (you want to propagate to all subfolders/files when do - to save time) in order to get them properly.

New-->: Windows Vista/7 would have your files located in the directory 'Users' of the root of the drive - and then under your username.

    • \USERS\\Desktop\
    • \USERS\\Downloads\
    • \USERS\\Favorites\
    • \USERS\\Documents\
    • \USERS\\Music\
    • \USERS\\Pictures\
    • \USERS\\Videos\

    ... etc...

Documents and settings to WIndows Vista/Windows 7 is a symbolic link and would lead to what you see if you tried to use it.

  • move a hard drive from MBP 2012 in a mac mini 2009

    Hello

I bought a 500 GB ssd and I am cloning my macbookpro HD 500 gb on it at the moment.

I plan to use my macbookpro HD to replace my 120 GB mac mini HD.

I wonder if it could be possible to put the macbookpro HD in the mini without deleting its content, which would allow me to win time install OSX and the transfer of data from my macbookpro? Would it cause problems?

I upgraded from the mac mini 8 GB RAM.

    The macbookpro turning El Capitan.

I just bought used the mac mini and is currently under Leopard, but would like to have of El Capitan on it.

    Thanks for your advice.

    m @.

The Mini can run 10.11.x, the only thing I'm not sure of is if the supplied Apple MBP 6/Gbs Player supports the Mimi 3/Gbs speed... most do, but...
