MacBook pro power question

Hello

recently, I replaced my battery in my macbook pro (late 2011) with an official replacement battery, I was wondering if one fell on the following question...

almost everytime I disconnect my charger magsafe, it cuts the power rather than switch to battery power my macbook pro, I did MSC resets, resets of vram and recently diagnosed

error code I got from the trial of the aht has been ' 4xxx/6/40000005: 0... 'battery' '...

I'm not sure what it actually means if its my battery or battery sensor etc...

wondering if anyone knows how to solve my problem?

Apart from this question my mac works perfectly fine running on the power adapter

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you Gary

If you had Apple install the battery, it should have a one year warranty.  Make an appointment with an Apple store genius bar and have examined the MBP. Even out of warranty, the assessment will be free.

Ciao.

  • MacBook Pro with question mark inside a folder after fix

So I have Macbook Pro 2012 13 "with a 500GB SSD and 8 GB of ram. In may, my computer would not boot into the operating system without previous indications of possible failure. It would display an exclamation mark inside a folder at startup (later, I thought means that the hard drive is a problem). I took it to Apple-authorized repair Tech on my campus and they were unable to understand the source of the problem, but said it was possible that my OS has been corrupted. After some searching myself, I started to think it was the TRIM bug which has been a known issue with Samsung. Samsung has gladly replaced my hard drive. I have connected the new hard drive and I fell again on the same issue. I started to consider the water of the hard drive has been the question... So I replaced that and was able to start again! Fast forward to today, several months later, and I have the same problem. However, now I can start in the OS sometimes while sometimes it will show the flashing icon. If the hard drive ribbon cable I bought was of bad quality, or that would indicate a bigger, more serious problem? I'm confused as to how to proceed to solve this problem. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Yes, I suspect a problem with the new ribbon cable or its connection to the logic board.

  • Replacement for Macbook Pro power cable

    Hi all

What type of power cable do need me to an Apple MacBook Pro 15 retina / 2.0 Ghz Quad Core Haswell i7/8 GB/256?

What power cable, which plugs into the Mac or that plugs into the MagSafe charger.

  • WRT310N v1 and MacBook Pro wireless questions

    Hi all

I had problems with my v1 WRT310N current wireless. I have a macbook pro (early 2009) with mac os 10.5.8. I have cable internet, a DHCP connection. I have a computer and cable to the PS3 via the router, and they work perfectly. The wireless, has however never been what it should be. Internet load slow, even if the connection speed is quite good (not as fast as the devices wired, but close).

    Wireless settings are:

    wireless configuration: manual

network mode: mixed (the Macbook can get wireless n by iPhone is just g)

    Radio band: standard 20 mhZ

broad channel: 9 (cannot change this with this config, if I'm not wide channel at 40 mhZ)

    standard channel: 11

    SSID broadcast: enabled

I've got security WPA2 with AES encryption. I defined the interval of tag to 75 and thresholds of Fragmentation and RTS on the left by default. The firewall is turned on, and "filter anonymous internet requests" is disabled. I wonder if I'm losing ground so by broadcasting a mixed signal, instead of just G or just N I tried to pass only Wireless-n, but there is no significant change (and the iPhone cannot connect at all).

Any input at all would be really appreciated. I hope that I don't have to fork over $30 for linksys just to get technical support. Thanks in advance.

AH! Finally got the bandwidth wireless at the height. The solution was, of course, the simplest available: move the router to a better location. Before that I had hidden in a corner near a window - probably sent most of the signal across the street. He now has a line of sight clear to each room. Assume that Occam's Razor is famous for a reason.

    Thanks for the help!

  • How can I load OS after reformatting my hard drive on macbook pro

I have a macbook pro with questions 2007 vintage.  I need to reformat the hard drive.  Once I do this how

If your Mac OS x v10.7 or later, start your Mac while pressing the command + R keys. From there you can reformat the hard drive and OS X using OS X recovery of restoration

If your Mac is running OS X before v10.7, insert the installation disc while holding down the C key.

  • MacBook Pro & Thunderbolt Display

    If I understand this correctly:

7 is the Thunderbolt port power devices connected?

Yes. A Thunderbolt port powers if this Thunderbolt port is part of a device that is connected to a power outlet or is running on battery power. If your Thunderbolt devices have their own power supply, you must connect the power supplies to them for optimal functionality. If you use Thunderbolt devices that get their power that from the Thunderbolt bus, computers running on battery power will be draining the battery faster.

Then, if the screen is connected to a MacBook Pro power will be provided BUT is a supplied cable (w/Display) for the connection of the screen with the MBP, or is it necessary to buy it separately?

According to http://www.apple.com/thunderbolt/, it can provide 10 W. That's enough for hard drives and other small devices.

Displays generally take 100 W or more. So, you will want to connect the screen on the seizure of power.

  • Questions to power MacBook Pro 15 "

My MacBook Pro is getting pretty old (8 almost 9 years), and at that age, he has some weird problems. I already talked to Apple about this and they can't pin point the issue... all they know is that it is NOT a software problem. Basically, my computer has some weird and random hiccups

    Data sheet:

MacBook Pro (15 inch, late 2008)

    OS: El Capitan 10.11.4

Processor: 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

    RAM: 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3

    Chart: NVIDIA GeForce 9400 M 256 MB

Hard drive: 320 GB Toshiba HDD

    Questions:

    • Stops at Midway during the start unless constantly, you press a key on the keyboard
    • Request chance to stop, restart, sleep in the pop window crept up I pressed the power button and will stop if Cancel is not pressed within 5-10 seconds
    • Randomly goes to sleep and stop unless you immediately wake up
    • Stop when the lid is closed (insomnia will not fix it... list of things I've tried is planned)
    • Caps lock light does not work (possibly related)
    • The lighting is uneven in lighting (possibly related)
    • Reader superDrive cannot read, write or view the disks on the desktop (possibly related)

    Solutions, I tried (but not):

    • Reset the NVRAM
    • Replacing the HARD drive
    • Installation of insomnia
    • Reinstall OS X
    • Boot Safe Mode
    • Disk check and repair authorization

I have no idea what to do and I don't want to make a new MacBook. If any of you can help or tell me what the problem is it would be greatly appreciated. If worst comes to worst I'll bring to a local Apple certified repair shop and get it looked at. I don't get a new computer (if it is repairable and not as compensation of $500). I want to wait until the computer is 2 years late. And yes I know the MacBook will not be able to get MacOS Sierra 10.12.0 in the fall, I'm willing to wait for OS X 10.14.0 (2018) to get a new Mac.

  • Unusually slow MacBook pro, as well as problems with power.

I'm looking for help on setting my Mac, any help from anyone would be great!

Recently, my MacBook Pro (running El Capitan) at the end of 2013 model started running really slow unawares (before that it was perfect). No hardware or software, changes began to really randomly goes slowly. My mac has always very well maintained, regular clean ups of junk, utility to check disk done often, no useless apps or data.

Other questions, I'll have with power up the mac off is when I press the power button to turn off it starts then a few turns (don't not even to Apple to loading off-screen, shines the screen but then powers), I have to hold the power button for 10 seconds approximately to get power properly, when I close the lid without turning off then open it I went to the login screen instantly but then close the book Mac downs completely.

I ran the Apple Diagnostics, no problem. I also ran repair disk utility, no change. I even did a clean install of the operating system and there was a very minor change, but always far make the level it's at.

    Thank you

A slow Mac may be due to not enough available storage space.

Click on your Apple  menu at the top left of your screen.

In the menu drop down click on about this Mac , and then select the storage tab.

Your Mac is the bare minimum needs 8 GB of storage available just for the operating system not to mention all your personal data.

  • MacBook Pro Late 2011 startup questions - SMC reset necessary after each shut down.

I was asked to look at a friends end 2011 Macbook Pro.

Initially, it seemed dead. No power, no response. I did the Shift + Command + control + Power to try to reset the SMC nothing helps.

I opened the back and disconnected the battery and the magsafe. I help the power button down for 5 seconds. reconnected the dough tried power on and it didn't work until I plugged the magsafe. Ah ha I thought it, BUT. Once started it works very well, some check everything looks good and battery shows healthy with 70% of load.

I restart the machine and it starts fine. HOWEVER. I stop the machine and I'm back to square one. Power supply photo and battery connected.

So I rinse and repeat. battery disconnect power hold button wait 5 plug in back and then turn it on. As before it works only after the power supply was ALSO connected. to test this situation I tried again without connecting the battery and just the power supply. Since then only the battery was in, nothing until that I plugged the battery ALSO.

So the Macbook will start only after a stop if the battery and power are both removed, button / help for 5 then BOTH the power and battery are reconnected.

I've seen people with similar questions but no one seems the specific symptoms that it requires this reset each STOP but restarts not on the list.

    Clues, help, correct?

    See you soon

  • Question of cloning for SSD upgrade on 12 Macbook Pro

Previously, I did an upgrade to SSD on my Macbook Air to 2012 according to the instructions of JetDrive transcend. Basically connection via USB 3 and using Mac OS X to clear (and format) disc utilities new SSD, then restore again SSD and then remove the original 128 GB SSD and insert the new 480 GB SSD.  For about a month and so far without problem.

Now I'm trying to 2012 Macbook upgrade my Pro partner (on 10.11.6).  I got a Crucial SSD MX300 to replace his HARD drive.  Crucial comes with (or recommend) Acronis software.  And a lot of the messages of the forum recommend Carbon Copy Clone.

My question is if I can use the same method for the cloning of the HD as my Macbook Air (just restore disk of Mac OS X utilities)?  This time, I'm upgrading HARD drive and I don't know if something is different.  At the same time, if I got lucky the first time, I don't not ruin Macbook Pro my spouse this time.

    Thank you.

Yes, you can use disk utility to clone your MBP wives, but unlike CCC, it will not clone the recovery and Partition.

  • No power MacBook Pro MagSafe dim

    No power, Sun magsafe MacBook

    Hello

Then 2 days ago, I bought a used MacBook Pro, model 13 "2012.

I had planned to replace the hard disk drive for an SSD, wich I went to. and... Since then, it won't power, at all. I put the old hard drive, has nothing that I could think of, still no power. When I plug my magsafe (I checked that it was working with another computer) the only thing I see is a really small green light on the connector.

    Could someone help?

    Thanks :)

The usual recourse is to perform a reset of the MSC. Please read reset the management system (SCM) controller on your Mac for the procedure. Follow all the steps, even if they seem inapplicable or trivial. Do not try to remove the battery from your Mac's battery is not removable.

  • A Magsafe 85w power adapter would be detrimental to my MacBook Pro (13-inch, mid 2010)

    Hi all!

    I have a MacBook Pro (13-inch, mid 2010, 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo).

Well, after years of abuse, the thinner rope (which connects to the Macbook) began to tear. I tried to drag an above shrink wrap to fix and make it last a little longer, but now I find myself stirring the rope around so he can start loading.

in any case, I found a company after-market on Amazon called Supsun making (link below) and recently purchased a. He said that going to work with my Macbook, but I think not even check what power mine use and after he woke up, I found out mine originally a 60w.

Will this hurt Magsafe Supsun 85w power adapter my mid 2010 13-inch Macbook in anyway?

I thank you for all your comments!

I, personally, look at the price difference and ask myself I'd be sad if I saved money and things did not work well.

Why did you start a new post? Post again only after only 8 minutes accomplished nothing.

There is no general problem going to EL Capitan on your Mac.

    Some applications may require updating.

Some devices like printer may require the updated drivers. For some readers of devices not being updated are available.

    Hello

Just in case, run disk utility.

Open utility disk located in Applications/Utilities

Then select the disk to boot on the left and then select the first aid tab and then click run.

If disk utility indicates that the disc seems to be OK, you are finished. Otherwise, you must repair the disk.
