Maximum DPI setting missing Photosmart 7960

I always use a 7960 Photosmart and I'm very happy with it.  However, DPI Maximum option has disappeared in the menu of options of printing resolution.  My OS is Vista 32 bit Home Premium, SP2.  My laptop is a Dell Studio 1537 and is connected to the printer by USB.  In my view, the setting may have disappeared at a time given when I updated the driver.  Please help as I'm getting back in high quality photography.

Hello @hpu1 and welcome to the Forums of HP, I hope you enjoy your experience!

I see that you are running in IPR issues.  I would try to help.

I would recommend a power reset.  Unplug the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug back in the printer. Make sure that you connect the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any surge protector or power bar.

I recommend also to download and run the HP print and Scan doctor.

Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting operations. Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!

  • Scanning at 600 dpi on HP Photosmart 7520

    Hello everyone

Can someone help with the following:

I do about 80 color A4 photo book and b & w prints and want to print the majority in format full page (A4).

I already scanned successfully (7 x 5 "in size) black and white prints at 600 dpi and got 3.5 MB + scans files sizes.

I went on the scan (10 x 7 "in size) color prints at 600 dpi and get the following error message appears:

    Large file

Cannot get the device files.  The file exceeds the maximum size limit.  To decrease the size of the file, try reducing the resolution of image or dimensions.

I am a novice to the scanning of fingerprints.  It justs strange it is a maximum allowed size when you can scan at 1200 dpi on HP Photosmart 7520... It will scan at 300 dpi color prints, but I do not know dimensions/size is good enough for printing in A4.

    Any advice would be welcome.

    Thank you very much!

    Hi Rennes,

This problem occurs when scanning via HP Scan?

I would recommend scanning using HP Scan to see if you encounter the same problem:

  • Photosmart 7960 + Win7 (ultimate 64-bit)

    Hello

I have Photosmart 7960 connectd to a print server in my network. HP has not (yet?) Win7 drivers for it, but the download page of the pilot says "a full set of features of software and the driver for Windows 7 is not available for your product. However, the Windows 7 operating system that is installed on your computer contains a solution to your product base driver. »

I tried to install a network printer, and since the drivers of ofer canoe of print server, I tried to manually select the correct driver. However, I wasn't able to find the driver for photosmart 7960 series.

Where can I find the driver for Photosmart 7960 for Win7 (ultimate 64-bit)? Vista 64-bit driver is available, then, what is the problem, why HP does not have native drivers in Win7?

    -Paavo

Install the driver Vista 64 site Internet HP here.  After that the message the drivers have been installed and say connect you can cancel.  The drivers will then be available in respect of Hewlett-Packard as shown below.

  • Photosmart 7960 installed via the USB port on the PC under Win XP Pro acting as a print server

I have a PC running Windows XP Pro, which acts as the home network file and print server.   The Photosmart 7960 is connected to this computer via a USB cable and configured to be "shared".   When I go to "Add a printer" on another PC, in Windows 7, which is also part of the same network, I can navigate to the 7960 correct, but the installation wizard is unable to find the driver for Win 7.  I still have what in the HP see basic documents that tells me how to add this shared printer on my Win 7 PC.  Looking at the support page drivers I saw that Windows 7 already has the driver.  True, but the only way, it seems that I can get to it is to connect the printer directly to Win 7 PC via a USB cable.   Any suggestions?

Apparently, the solution is as follows.  First connect the photosmart 7960 directly to the PC running Windows 7 via USB cable network.  It will be auto-install drivers.  Reconnect the printer to the PC under XP pro server.   From the PC running Windows 7 where you have installed the printer via USB, you can go ahead and remove the photosmart 7960 from the list of printers; This will not remove the just downloaded drivers.  Next, select Add a printer, and then select 'Add a local printer' (no network).  Select 'Create New Port' and click Next.  In the next dialog box, type the name of the host server and the name of the printer.  In my case, it's \\mainserver\HP photosmart 7960. Click Next.   In the "Install the printer driver" dialog, click "Hewlett Packard" and find the 7960 in the printer list and click Next.  I was able to successfully install the printer this way.

  • driver disk software hp photosmart 7960

I just upgraded to Windows 7 and HP does not have a complete driver for my Photosmart 7960 printer support. I can't find that my driver installation disk of anywhere and I need to get all the features (printing without margins, maintenance, etc.) installed. Anyone know where I can get one? Thank you!

Looking at the pages in the car it appears HP decided to not fully support even Vista on this printer, not to mention Windows 7. They have even a program uninstaller to remove the software if the user upgraded from XP to Vista because the old XP software does not work on Vista. I'm sorry, but you may be out of luck if you want anything else than to the basic print functions.

  • How do you get state of ink on a Photosmart 7960 running on Windows 7?

You will need to know how check/status display of ink for my Photosmart 7960 running on a Dell XPS 17 with Windows 7.  Printer was originally on my Dell Inspiron 8600 running XP and will automatically display status of ink when I printed.

The alert you speak too often give you the option to choose when you download the software. You can uninstall the software and re - install and choose the right box when it asks, or you could simply click on HP Solution Center. Click the estimated ink levels.

  • I'm trying to locate an HP Photosmart 7960 printer installation disc. Any ideas how to do?

    Two questions...

I have a HP Photosmart 7960 printer and we have a new computer. We cannot find the installation disc. I called HP and after about 2 hours of 'help' said they cannot support the printer more - it's too old. No download online from HP worked.

I have TONS of ink for this printer...

The ink cartridges are 56, 57, 58 and 59. If I can't find an installation disc, it may be interesting to my buying a printer that uses these cartridges. How would you like to know which printers are available that use these cartridges?

Therefore, pilots base under the link below does not work?

  • Can I change the DPI setting by device

It's frustrating that there is a systemic configuration option for adjusting the speed of the mouse (DPI to the movement of the mouse). It is too fast for the slow or external mouse to the trackpad. Most of the users do not change the setting when switching from one to the other every day. Toshiba uses the Microsoft ie driver. no additional device control. Toshiba is missing a manual, the driver and the FAQ for their mouse. Support is limited to perhaps a phone number. No e-mail, no Web site feedback contact.
The bellows of tags in this kind of forum is also very limited and not user-friendly. A tag which out of the following is the problem?
mouse, W15, 10 windows driver, settings

    Hello tim_chambers

Settings of the mouse was always part of the operating system installed.

If you need adjust your mouse settings, in windows 10, simply go to settings/DEVICES/Mouse & touchpad (use 'option of additional mouse', at the bottom of the page if you need or search advanced settings)

  • Recycle Bin exceeds the maximum size setting

The customized to my recycle bin maximum size is currently set to 10240 MB (10 GB) for one of my external hard drives, but the current of my recycle bin for this drive size is almost 42 GB, well above what the max is supposed to be.  It seems that around July 17, old files stopped aging whenever new have been removed and moved to the trash.

I used the same setting to maximum size for my drive hard internal and other disk hard extermal, but I don't think it would affect the size of the basket to the other player, I assumed that they were independent.  Just to be safe, I reduced the max size for the other two discs to 5120 MB, but it changed nothing.

No idea why my trash is not automatically aging old files more?  Thank you.

  • How to determine or change the DPI setting on a photo?

Our son was killed while serving in Iraq.  A group of history approached us, as well as other families, for pictures of our son to use in a documentary of the battle.  They asked for the photos in "600 dpi.  I have not tried something like that for several years has so much changed and I'm lost.  I'm 10.11.2 on an iMac OS, and as far as I know, all software is aware of upgrades.  All my photos are saved on an external hard drive, but I want to be sure to preserve the originals without any damage.  Online research just confused issues.  I used Apple/Mac since the Apple IIe, so I know that it shouldn't be hard to do.

Condolences for the loss of your son. Another vet but in Vietnam. We appreciate all of its services.

Probably the best application for this would be Graphic Converter.

  • 2-sided auto setting missing in version13 sotware 6400 for AIO with USB for win7-64.

All-in-one HP J6450 is connected to Win7-64 and using version 13 "all" software/driver, which has been installed. After all the HP, marked software has been uninstalled first with control panel Win7 (hour task has 3, BTW).

VIPRE, (anti-virus software), had yet to execute the installation by following the instructions.

In Win7 settings under two faces, only: Off, manual, left side and right are displayed.

However, when the printer is connected to an XP machine and accessible USB on our ethernet network, setting 2-sided car appears, as it should be in the settings of the printer and the printer works as it should.

    Hello
Make sure that the automatic duplex printing option is selected:

Enter the control panel > devices and printers.
Right-click the printer icon, and then click printer properties.
    Click the device settings tab.
As installed in Duplex Automatic Two-Sided accessory and then click OK to save the change.

Automatic duplex printing should now available.

    Kind regards
