Maximum hard disk on Tecra M4

I have a Tecra M4, and I think to upgrade the hard drive to a SATA 320 one. Y at - it a maximum size of hard drive for this model? Also the functions of "Safe custody" of HD will still work if you install a new?

Thank you
Mark

Hello

There is certainly a point HARD drive size limitation is that the BIOS supports not all HARD drive sizes, and to be honest think I don t think the 320 GB HARD drive would go.
I think it s all just too big

Unfortunately, Toshiba doesn't provide details about the possible HARD drive s max
But I think that a 120 GB HDD should t be a problem

    Hello

I don't know but, I am very pessimistic, you have every chance of casting more than 8 GB HDD to your laptop because there are BIOS HARD disk size restrictions! If the latest version of the BIOS does not support the new HDD it appears impossible to run!

Can you please send a link where is possible to read the specifications of this 40 GB HARD drive.

  • How to change or remove a password hard disk on Tecra M9

Hi, I have a Tecra M9. I put a password for hard drive just to try. Now I want to remove or change. I have the hard drive password. PC ask me psw hard drive each time you start. What is the procedure to remove or change? Toshiba Assist cannot give me any option to change it. Can someone help me? Thank you and sorry for my English...

The HARD drive password can be removed by using security help.

Using the BIOS SETUP, tab of the HARD drive password section which should appear as follows:
    HARD drive password
HARD = built-in HARD disk drive
HARD drive password mode = USER only
    Registered = user password

In the field "User password" tab and just enter the old password and then a new twice (once to check) as you normally would.
If you don't want a password, simply press "enter" twice

    That's all...

  • Upgrade the hard disk on Tecra M9 will void the warranty?

    Hello

I want to upgrade the hard drive on a Tecra M9 120 GB to a 200 GB Hitachi Travelstar 7K 200 hard drive SATA 3 GB/s. The coverage still apply for the Tecra after this upgrade?

    Kind regards

    charlieMOGUL

Upgrading the HARD drive would not affect the validity of the guarantee.

But I'm not sure on the size 200 GB HARD drive the BIOS supports a HARD drive size limitation and not all dimensions are supported. If the HARD disk is too big, the BIOS would not recognize the new HARD disc.

The problem is that Toshiba doesn't provide any information on HARD drive sizes possible.
I think that you should just look at it

If you have tested this HARD drive, please report it here in the forum I m very interesting if the 200 GB would run properly.

    Good bye

  • Partition of hard disk on Tecra 8100

I changed the 12 GB of HARD drive with a 40 GB HARD drive. But I couldn't partition this time. The last time with the help of this forum I had partitioned the 12 GB for use with Win 98 and XP. I think you forgot the procedure to partition the HARD drive. I think it's during the initial data recovery CD installation when asked me to creat partition (if any). This time, I don't see such a request. Please help because without XP a lot of my devices work... no drivers.

  • Portege M200 - what is the maximum HARD disk?

    Hello

I need to know what is the maximum capacity of the hard drive that is supported by Portege M200.

    Hello!

I guess that the Portege M200 is equipped with an IDE HDD interface. This means that the laptop has a limitation of LBA 28 bits and so it can only manage s HDD up to 128 GB. If you can use a 120 GB HARD drive in this notebook.
If you want to learn more about the limitation of the LBA you can look on Wikipedia or here: [www.48bitlba.com].

I have good experiences with Seagate drive HARD Hitachi s, but you can also buy another HARD drive. ;)

I hope I could help you.

I also have the Hitachi 7K 100 100 GB as a second option if the Seagate won t work.

  • Z61p - Maximum HARD disk capacity

    Hello

I had a Z61p with 100 GB HARD drive. I want to spend to 320 GB or 500 GB HARD drive. Do you know that my computer supports these capabilities or not?

    Kind regards

    Thanks for the quick response.

I had thougt that maybe there is a limit of capacity by SATA controller.

So that means I can connect any HARD SATA 2.5 inch drive without a problem?

  • Maximum hard drive size in the Lenovo 3000 N100

    I have Lenovo 3000 N100

It came with 100 GB hard drive 5400 RPM

What is the maximum hard disk that can be used. Is it possible to only 5400 RPM or 7200 RPM?

    Thanks for the answer

    Abraham

No, I'm this based on the Avenue of the planets. Kidding.

I base this experience with laptops cheaper and lower quality supporting better hard disks, processor, etc. etc.

Also the fact that some N100 configurations included a 250 GB SATA 5400 RPM hard drive. No reason why will not work a 7200 RPM drive.

We invite you to seek advice elsewhere.

  • How do I change or remove the password disk HARD on my Tecra A9

    Hi all

I looked for where I could, but didn't find any indication at all, so I'm asking here.

I have a Tecra A9 in need of resettlement, what I like to do for me.
I have a very good password on the HARD disk which I do not wish to give. So I want to change it or remove it completely.

Please someone, how do I do? In the BIOS, I don't see that it has been defined, but all what I try, I can not change or get rid of it.

Maybe I should add that since the original installation of the PC it was years ago and I don't remember not the 'Administrator' password.

Everything is under control. I know the 'controller' password and have already successfully removed the BIOS password. Smart TPM is disabled.

BUT what the disk hard drive password?
    Any help much appreciated!

    Thank you!

  • Tecra 8000: Question on the HARD disk and the password

    Hi all
A market recently my son bought an old laptop Toshiba T8000.

Personally, I have absolutely no knowledge of the laptop myself as a desktop is everything I've ever used.
However, I recharged the battery and the power, it asks for a password, even if what I believe to be the HD is missing (Vacant housing, left under the keyboard and behind the battery)

Our local store offers him an incredible £121 a new HD

HA wasted his pocket money on it or can he get a password and the HD at reasonable price to fit?

    Any help is greatly welcomed.

    BREZ.

    Hello

Especially the password appears at the beginning of the startup procedure because the BIOS password has been set.
Unfortunately, you cannot delete or remove the BIOS password if the old password of BIOS is not known to you. Either contact you the person who sells you the device and ask for the password or you will contact the service partner in your country for a deletion.

    I guess that's a Tecra 8000 with the number PAT80XE.
This unit is a little older and so I think that hard drives are rare, a little so more expensive.
By the way: the device supports an EIDE HARD disk interface

  • Tecra A8 - erasing disc Recvery would be the entire HARD disk

    Hello

I installed Win xp on my Tecra A8 and also created two logical drives C and D.
Win has been installed on C using the recovery cd.

Now I want to reinstall windows and keep my d: drive.
When I boot from the recovery CD, first screen is to select the language, and the second is where my problem is.
It has the 'Settings' button which displays two options - to choose the number of GB to install the OS, or to install the OS on existing first # GB partition with id #.

Second option is ine, I chose, but when I click Next, a warning window appears and says something like "Beware, any hard drive will be erased.

    Anyone know what this means?
He let intact d: drive and manifest only the c: drive, or it will erase really any hard disk?

    Thank you.

    > Second option is ine, I chose, but when I click Next, a warning window appears and says something like "Beware, any hard drive will be erased. Anyone know what this means?

This means that the recovery disc will format the whole HARD drive and it will be also possible to delete all partitions from the HARD disk.
The use of the recovery disk would fix the laptop to the factory setting.

  • HP 14-r025tx: what is the maximum size of hard drive I can replace my default one? & other hard disk performance issue

My default hard disk is almost full and I plan to update. What is the maximum size that this model could overcome? Very well is 2-3 to?

    Another question.

I replaced my optical drive to a box with a 250 GB SSD HARD drive inside. I installed my new operating system here, and makes the default boot drive. The default value of HARD drive that comes with the laptop is my backup drive. This is configured by okay?

    or

Do I have to put my SSD on the default HARD drive space and put my 2 to/3 TB harddrive on the caddy for maximum performance?

    Hello

    1. in theory, you can get 2 TB or TB but 1 TB has better peformance.

    2. you cannot boot from the caddy. My suggestion: use for normal Bay and 2 TB SSDS in the caddy. You both what you want.

    3. as (2) above.

    Kind regards.
