May not be full battery - Satellite L20

I bought a new laptop of L20. I left that he connected to the AC during last night, but the battery charge stopped at 84%. I tried to completely discharge the battery and charge it again but the loading stopped again at 84%.
The battery led is yellow and never green. Is there a problem in my battery?

Hello

It s not easy to tell if the battery has a failure. If the battery led is yellow then it means s that the battery is not completely charged and the charge process persists.
I recommend first of all remove the battery from the unit for several minutes.
Then try to charge the battery again.

I need to know the best place to start to spend money!

Some experience that may or may not apply to:
-Battery system is around 2.5 years
-The battery lasts about 1 to 1.5 hrs that seems fair considering his age and his level of violence (left connected permanently and not recycled periodically)
-Very recently would not pass, with or without the power adapter connected. Solved by removing AC, then the battery, running on AC, then turn off and reinsert the battery. Everything now works on battery or AC.
-Over problem, system has been itself decommissioned at random. Since the resolution of the problem of market it was not randomly turned off itself, YET!

Any help or advice would be much appreciated. Thank you.

HM, sounds to me like a hardware problem. But the problem is to understand where exactly the error, if you have the following options:

    * Contact a service partner chartered for a hardwarecheckup and an accurate diagnosis of your machine ([http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/generic_content.jsp?service=EU&ID=ASP_SUPPORT])
    * You can buy a new battery (since it could be the battery, I guess)
    * You can sell this machine on ebay and buy a new one :)

Hope I could give you some new and fresh ideas. There is almost no other options or solutions, the it s so your choice.

How old is your laptop and the battery?

The point is that, after a long period of use of each battery stops the functionality.

My battery in the laptop of 5 years is not working too.
I could replace it, but I use the old good classic as a desk for laptop and it s still connected to the power adapter so I put t need a new battery.

However, if you want you could test whether a new battery will help you.

    Hello

For some professional portable computers such as Tecra and Portege you can buy different batteries (with more cells). Unfortunately for Satellite L20 these batteries are not available.

  • Satellite L20-101: Question on battery & BIOS password

    Dear Sir or Madam:

I have a Toshiba laptop satellite L20-101, so can u please answer my questions below.

Is it better for the battery life to always stay connected to an electrical outlet when possible, or charge the battery and then use it until it needs to be recharged again? I mean what is best for the life of the battery, and I need to know if stay connected to AC power affects the battery life.

How can I set a password for the laptop not windows? Because when I enter BIOS setup and set a password for user and supervisor. He just ask me about this password when I try to login to Setup again, but it is still continuous to the windows boot without asking me about a password.

    What should I do?

    Kind regards

    Hello

The fact is that you can charge/discharge the battery about 500 times.
After this period, the battery will lose performance.
More recent laptops and batteries use the latest technology of load.
But I recommend to remove the battery, if you work on the DC for a long time.
In this case, you can extend the life of the battery and the performance

If you want to set the BIOS password and it should appear at the beginning, you must activate the password at startup option in the BIOS.

You can start your laptop with AC power only (the battery is removed)? If so, start windows and after a few minutes, put the battery inside and post the result.

  • Satellite L20 modem does not work in some cases

    Hello

a friend bought a Satellite L20 last summer. In January, she started working on the Internet on an irregular basis, but has known trouble. So I looked after the laptop last week:

When you try to connect to the Internet connect to the provider sometimes fails. If she finally gets the connection, it often occurs the message that the page could not be found, and only after clicking on the button "Refresh" the page several times finally appears. But oddly enough, every time I unplugged the power supply connection become noticeable better.

(Win XP; pilot/diagnosis: no problem arose; provider works very well on different computers)

Unfortunately, he had no chance to check the connection here with a different material. I can't say if the latest driver is installed, but think that Yes, because of the date of purchase. So, my guess is that the power cable is not adequately protected. But if so how? Or what else could be the reason for the unexpected behavior of the modem?

    Thanks for your suggestions!

    Hello

I heard a similar problem with another model of Satellite. Solution was to install the Satellite A110 modem driver. Please don t ask me why, but test it.

The modem driver, you can find HERE

    Good luck!

I assume that you made a mistake with Vista?

Have you noticed the same behavior when you use hibernation mode?

  • Satellite L20-100: Nero does not recognize the UJ - 841S

    Hello
Our computer is Satellite L20 - 100... He has a special CD burning program Sonic Record and it does not crush. I want to use Nero or Alcohol 120, but the computer does not support them.

Is there a special driver or something that can allow the use of these programs? Or how to use Nero on my laptop? I'll be happy if someone can help me...

    Thank you

    Hello

Nero it works without any problem on your laptop and you don t need no additional driver.
But maybe the different burning applications have a bad influence on the only burning software. Try to use only a single application.

  • Satellite A100 - will not charge the battery

    Hello

I have ned to help. My Satellite A100 will not charge the battery. He works the power adaptor for the led indicates charging status, battery shows 1% of loading tatus information, but none does change - no loading any time. When disconnected everything just stops off like normal desktop.

I've already put battery in and out, made upgrades to the antivir software, makes Toshiba controls, tests, but what ever he did did not any change. If there is no way for restoration of battery how to check what the problem is I have no second battery or AC I can always buy new batttery but I don't know if the old one is broken and weather new would work properly?

    Best regards
    pawelg

    Hi pawelg,

I agree with the user above. The battery can be charged only up to 500 times, and after that, it must be replaced. I think it's the case now, I mean that everything works correctly on the AC adapter so I think that the battery must be the reason for this.

By the way: you can buy a new battery to an authorized service provider. ;)

  • Satellite Pro L500 will not start on battery only

    Hello!

I recently bought a Satellite Pro L500 and have the following problems.
My laptop does not start on battery only. The Green led comes on and stays with the laptop in a gel (nothing appears on the screen).
The only way to get this light off is to remove the battery.

Starts EVERY time with AC power connected (with or without battery)-normal lights are displayed when connected.
Works quite normal, once started - with or without power connected

SOMETIMES starts with the battery only if I boot in a short time after I've used the laptop
I tried the static release process but does not work. (hold button power supply without battery or power supply connected etc..)

After having this problem, I've updated to the latest version of the BIOS but nothing helped
Tried a different battery and did not help
    Is a Toshiba Satellite PRO L500 T4400 4GB 15 "laptop Win7 - only 3 weeks or so old

    Very annoying!
    Please anyone with a solution?

    Hello

    Try this.
Remove the battery, disconnect the adapter and then wait a while. I would like to leave it disconnected for about 12 hours.
Together the two parties again, charge the battery and then remove the power adapter.
Then try to turn on the unit using only the battery.

If that does not help, then you should get in touch with your ASP as fast as possible since the guarantee is valid and would cover all the checks of the equipment and replacements.

  • Satellite M70 do not charge the battery

My satellite M71 do not charge the battery, not only when works now, but also when power is off. Do not charge batteries supplied with the adapter plugged.

    Hello

I agree with the user above.
This really looks like a malfunction of the battery. I put t know how old laptop is but generally cover the battery for about 1 year.

You know that, after the words of 500 of loading and unloading procedures battery automatically loses performance and battery life battery decreases.
    It s nothing unusual.

But if the battery is new, you must contact the ASP (partner) in your country.
