Meaning code LED: 13 times (HP ProBook 4510 s)

Laptop: Hp ProBook 4510 s

When I turn on my laptop, blue light on power button comes on for 6 seconds, until the led near the power plug right side quickly flashes 13 times. Always exactly 13 times, so it must be some kind of error code. Then laptop stops. Nothing is heard, no fan, no hard drive.

What's wrong? I'm really in a bad situation, I have no money and I need this computer. Feel really bad. Thanks for all the help!

Hello

I registered just for this post in case it helps someone.

I opened my 4510 s to clean the dust in the heat sink because it was overheating (it has other problems as well, for example sometimes when it turns on, the LCD backlight turns on just for a second, then again) and after her he recovered, he began to do exactly what you call in your message. I found it weird because at halfway through the Assembly I turned it on just in case, and it worked fine.

So what I did was loosen all the screws on the metal cover (the one under the keyboard) and then started squeezing one and turning it on every time up until I have found the problem. The culprit was a screw near the radiator fan. When I shake, it starts the thing flashing led and does light, once I have loosen a bit it starts working again. I guess it based on a place which results in a short circuit or something.

Here is a picture with the screw that I'm talking about:

  • ProBook 4510 s crashed and closed during charging

My probook 4510 s system crashed and closed when running connected to the power adapter. When it works connected to the power supply with or without battery inserted, it shuts down suddenly, charge led lights up blue and it remains blue after disconnecting the charging cable. Unable to reactivate it, not until the blue light turns off after a short time, only so that it can be turned on again. Same problem if you work connected to the power supply with battery purchased. I already took it to the original factory setting. Help, please. Thank you very much.

    Hello

This may be interesting to try as well.

First, stop the laptop, unplug the AC adapter unplugged, remove the battery and then press and hold the power button for a minute.

Now, plug in the power adapter and start the PC without the battery inserted, start Notepad, open windows control panel, open Device Manager, expand the entry for the Batteries, do a right-click on theMicrosoft ACPI compatible with battery control method and selectUninstall - do uninstall not something else here.  When the uninstall is complete, shut down the PC, unplug the AC adapter, reinsert the battery and then start the PC on just the battery.  Windows will automatically reinstall the driver - leave Windows running for a few minutes. Shut down the PC again.  Now plug the power adapter (with the inserted battery always) and start the laptop to see if it helped the issue at all.

  • HP ProBook 4510 s power problem

I have a ProBook 4510 of s. This morning he was in battery operation. Battery charge with the AC adapter is plugged in. Only a battery with flashing red x icon. Once the battery is depleted it would boot is no longer. I took out the battery and held the power for 30 seconds and plugged only adapter button in. The computer still does not start. Any suggestion would be appreciated. Thank you!

Note: When the adapter connects to the laptop there is a little light above him. With the battery connected that little light flashes orange 7 times after pressing the power button. With the battery no light at all. NA not knowing if this information was relevant. I just wanted to add.

Sounds like the battery has just stopped charging and the laptop powered by the adapter or because the charging circuit on the motherboard or the power adapter is bad. The first thing is to test the adapter using a multimeter or try another known good. Post back if you need help with this.

  • ProBook 4510 s: DVDRAM Drive detects is not audio CD

Drive DVDRAM GT20L in my Probook 4510 s does not detect audio CD or CD of the software, but it does not seem to run OK for DVD video.

I tried the Microsoft Fixit tool, which says there is a problem, but he can fix it.

II have checked the registry for upper & lower filters, but there is no entry filter in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrenControlSet\Control\Class\ (4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318.

I tried to create a registry subkey.

All of the above is as stated in the support.microsoft.com/kb/314060/en-us.

I uninstalled the driver, removed the drive, rehabilitated the road and allowed the automatic detection and installation of the drive, to anything will do.

I have tried of course, update driver, but every time the system says that the best driver is already installed.

Do you have suggestions for other possible patches that I can try?

    Thank you

It's a hardware problem. The player has several lasers for multiple functions and it is quite possible for the function of CD to stop working and the DVD function fine. The only solution is a replacement player. This is a sale on eBay:

    http://www.eBay.com/ITM/HP-ProBook-4510s-4515s-4520s-4525s-4530s-DVD-burner-writer-CD-R-ROM-player-drive-/151116553242?PT=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item232f3f9c1a

This video shows how to get inside and do the replacement. As says the announcement you have to switch the facades of the old drive. If you need more help post back.

It's a lot more you need to do. After removing the keyboard, you can remove a screw in the DVD drive, and then drag it on.

  • How to disable the trackpad on ProBook 4510 s

I have been setting up of a Probook 4510 of s for my disabled son. I have Windows 7 installed successfully and and everything works fine. Unfortunately, due to her problems with fine motor skills, he is unable to use the trackpad effectively and prefers his bluetooth mouse. When you use the mouse he finds often hit the trackpad and move the pointer, just as it is clicking. To the help of a laptop is better slow for him so it would be great if there is a hotkey to toggle the power switch trackpad because exists on many laptops. His old Compaq laptop has a button at the top of the trackpad, but it does not work. The option that turns off in the properties of the device are not (greyed out) and I'm afraid that uninstalling drivers could be disastrous if the mouse fails for some reason any.

He finished his last year in high school including 2 submit them so the laptop is an essential tool.

Thanks Mets, but who was also grey until the...

I don't know what happened, but after you have reinstalled the lateset Synaptics drivers again, I suddenly able to disable in their software (it was is no longer grayed out). That never conflict or corruption took place he was cured by uninstalling and reinstalling several times.

  • ProBook 4510 s: probook 4510 s windows upgrade

My mother has a ProBook 4510 s, which was bought right before Windows 7 came out (all about 2009, I think) so its mobile currently works on Windows XP (32-bit processor). She does not use the computer for much - mainly domestic use for Gmail, saving photos, printing, web browsing, etc - and hopes to upgrade Windows rather than buying a new computer. He arrived at the point where she cannot even download pictures on his iPhone to computer and iTunes can be loaded on computers Windows 7 or higher.

Because she has a ton of free space, and it seems that its operating system would allow an update to Windows 7, I want to know if it is better to just move him to 7 or upgrade to Windows 10.

Hoping someone can help me to determine if it's worth the trouble to do the complete upgrade of Windows 10 - his cell phone will be able to manage the upgrade - or to just upgrade to Windows 7, and see how that works before making the switch to Windows 10 eventually.

Thanks in advance for any help!

    Hello:

Since there is no support W8.1, W8 and W10 driver for this model, I suggest you go on W7 and then try the W10, so that if W10 does not work, you can go back at least to W7, rather than to be up the Creek without a paddle if W10 does not work on the PC.

You should be able to use the W7 drivers for devices W10 not drivers for, but since I've not tested W10 on 4510 s, I can't tell you if it will work or not.

I tested it on the 6910p and the nc6400 and it works OK.  The only thing I didn't try was the fingerprint sensor (driver has been installed), and there is no driver for the infrared port, so I disabled the device in the BIOS, because I do not use that either.

  • ProBook 4510 s PM45 - memory upgrade

    Hello!

    I have HP ProBook 4510 s with PM45 chipset.

    Currently, I have DDR2 2 x 2 GB memory modules.

I want to upgrade my memory up to 8 GB. Are the slots in my laptop computer compatible DDR3 memory modules when well even I have DDR2 installed now?

    Hello:

According to the specifications of your laptop on the link below, your laptop comes with a DDR2 or DDR3 memory and can be upgraded up to 8 GB (2 x 4 GB).  Refer to pages 3 and 5.

    http://h18000.www1.HP.com/products/QuickSpecs/13253_na/13253_na.PDF

It is physically impossible install DDR2 memory in slots DDR3 memory or vice versa, without breaking the slot or the memory module. They are not compatible with each other.

So, if you have DDR2 memory in your PC, you will need to stick with that (and 4 GB DDR2 modules are not cheap now).

    Hello

I am in possession of a 4510 s HP's Probook and I was wondering if I can get a gpu upgrade. His original CPU will also be upgraded to a t5870 a t9600.

But I can't find anywhere the list allowing GPU to my laptop. Is it possible to find a better GPU than the 4330 current?

Or I'm stuck with this one... some users of cell phones, that I heard that they have improved their GPU easly and they discovered all the upgrades that are supported by their laptops to service customer or something like that.

I wonderd if someone could point me in the right direction or to show me a list of compatibility of the GPU of my 4510 Probook s

    Hello:

The only way to update the video in most HP laptops is completely replace the motherboard by a listed in the service manual that might come with better graphics.

Normally such a business is not worth the time or expense.

The GPU is discrete or UMA, they both are soldered to the motherboard and cannot be removed or replaced.

    -Drivers for intel chipset

    -Drivers for Webcam

    -Do you have Flash Bios

    -Firmware...

You name it, we have installed.

Thing is that HE WORKED for a time, but after a reboot, it was gone.

I think the problem is somewhere in the registry, but I have no idea of what to look for.

    The device type: USB controller

    Standard USB host controller

State: windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (code 43)

This means that the greater likelihood is that he doesn't have the webcam.
