Memory and disk, update on Satellite Pro A300-1EA?

So, now, I got the laptop on my desk and a new HARD drive and 2 GB memory module arrived by mail a few ago... open the hatch for the memory at the bottom of the laptop and got a clue how to install the thing.

Don't I have just the courage to press hard enough for his slot? He began sliding in many, but then at some point it stops just go in... I have not yet opened the hatch of the HARD drive again. Somebody has experiences on these tasks who might want to talk to me about... ?

Thank you fellow ' puterists!

You can use a HARD SATA 2.5 ". 7200 RPM should be also compatible...

Looks like everything is clear now ;)

    Hello

What model of laptop do you have exactly?
Have you tried to install the OS by using Toshiba recovery image?
It will be interesting to know if your laptop will again works well with the factory settings.

  • The upgrade memory and HDD on Satellite Pro A300-1EA

So, I'm new to this forum so first of all Hello to all!

I plan to buy the Satellite Pro A300 1EA and I came to the conclusion that I need to buy more memory that the thing has already installed (2 048 MB).
I tried to search for information through Kingston and OCZ, but have not found something solid on what memory modules are supported by the A300-1EA.

The A300-1EA uses DDR2 800 Mhz type of memory (max 8192MB) instead of just dealing with one module 2084 installed, I had intended to get two of them.

What I have to buy two identical modules, or can I increase memory by simply adding a module to match installed?
So if anyone has an idea where I could find on the modules of memory supported, that would be swell! :)

The other thing is quite the same, but only with hard disks. I found many potential readers than fullfill my needs for a faster drive (upgrade of 5400 RPM / min-> 7200 RPM), but I don't know which ones work with this laptop.

After all, I'm in the impression that laptops are not so easy on these pieces as desktop computers.

    Thanks in advance!

Satellite Pro A300-1EA belongs to the series of PSAG9E, and it seems that it was fitted on the Chipset Mobile Intel GM45 Express.
As far as I know, that you can improve this laptop 4 GB RAM max so I wonder which tells you something about 8 GB support.
You can upgrade the memory to 4 GB, and you can use the 200-PIN SODIMM 800 MHz modules.

But to be honest I don t understand why you want to upgrade if the 32-bit Windows operating system will see only 3.2 GB due to the limitation of the 32-bit operating system.

    With regard to the drive HARD;
You need a HARD drive 2.5 SATA.

  • Re: Satellite Pro A300-1EA: can I use faster and bigger HARD drive?

So this may seem like a stupid question, but if I intend to spend of the installed 160 GB 5400 RPM HDD of the Satellite Pro A300 1EA to a 7200 RPM drive HARD (do not know the ability yet) and I was wondering how to make recovery disks (downgrade from Vista professional and XP Professional) coming with the work of the laptop with the HARD disk that does not part of factory as drives for my understanding restore the system...

The size of the drive HARD replacement has something to do with the thing?
If the replacement HARD drive is also 160 GB system see the difference? And even if it was smaller or larger the system see the difference?

I have not even bought the laptop but will soon and it is a little urgent.

    Computer thanks Fellows ahead! :)

    * Oh... It seems that this question has already been answered... a little research has ever killed forum person huh... but if someone has vital information about the issue... Please let me know! :)*

    Hello

I think that he should t be a problem with an upgrade to a faster and bigger HARD drive.
But before you switch the HARD disk, you must create the Toshiba Recovery DVD using the Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator.
After the recovery disk has been created, you can move the hard drives.

  • Re: Satellite Pro A300-1EA - wireless connection, drop all the time

Hi, I have a problem with my wireless connection fall all the time on my Satellite Pro A300 1EA.

It happened earlier, but I've fiddled about a little with change of drivers and the removal of the connection settings for the registry and it then worked fine for months, until yesterday.

There were several updates for Windows installed yesterday, but none of them have been updated driver for the wireless card, and they don't look like they should cause problems. The fact that the problem happened before makes me think that the updates can be anything to do with it.

I use the * Intel PRO/Wireless 3945/4965/5100/5300 * for Vista 32 - bit version 12.2.0.11.3 drivers from the Toshiba download page.

Other computers on the same access point have no problem, so I think it is specific to this laptop. The connection speed is normally 6 Mbps, but I cannot even check e-mail now without the abandonment of the connection.

Laptop will be thrown against a wall soon if no one can help you.

    Thanks in advance.

Edit: I've already made sure power settings are at maximum to the WLAN card, even if on battery, or what power management.

    Hello

Have you tried to use the Windows System Restore feature? After that your WLAN should work fine again.

In addition, I can recommend the latest WLAN driver in the Intel page, it s version 12.4.xxxx. I installed the driver on my Qosmio laptop and don t have any problems with it: [www.intel.com].

  • Re: Satellite Pro A300-1EA - difficulties in upgrading the BIOS

    Hello

I tried to update BIOS on my new Satellite Pro A300-1EA (PSAG9E-001001EN), requested by Tempro, since version 1.50 to 1.90. The system has completely frozen during the BIOS flash, after waiting for an hour, I decided to turn the power off and pray for the best. Thank God, everything works still, but the BIOS is always v1.50, not been updated. I now read so many posts on the forum about the update of the BIOS of marbled and am now very cautious about subject to any BIOS updates at all.

My questions are: is there about this particular update and/or with the installation of InsydeFlash problems? The BIOS updates are usually all so difficult that they have better be avoided? What are alternative means for updating BIOS, hopefully less dangerous? Also, could there be potential damage to my laptop that is associated with this is BIOS flash a miscarriage I should know about?

    Thank you very much indeed!

    Monsteress

You can feel happy, my friend! :)
I m surprised that your ROM module is damaged or something. In most cases, this occurs if the computer hangs during the update.

Let me give you some advice. You should only update the BIOS if it of needed or if you have questions-problems with the laptop. You can ignore the messages of TEMPRO if your system is working properly. For example I have never updated the BIOS if my phone goes perfect never touch a running system ;)

If not, follow the advice posted by Akuma before update you the BIOS to close all running programs, disable the AntiVirus and firewall and connect the AC adapter.
On my Satellite U400, I've updated the BIOS without problems.

  • Satellite Pro A300-1EA there S-video?

    Hello

I can't find a definitive answer to this issue, even from dealers. Please could someone who has this model of _exact_ (PSAG9E-001001EN) tell me whether or not it has a S-video output port.

    Thank you very much.

    Hello

As much as I know this laptop Satellite A300-1EA 001001EN PSAG9E was equipped with the port external monitor (RGB).
You can connect an external monitor using a VGA cable to this port.

But, s-video (TV-out) port is not available!

  • Wireless is on but Satellite Pro A300-1EA says it is OFF

I got this computer from April will be no problem.

My wireless is on (on the switch key and func) but my computer does not connect to a network, the icon has a red x through it, and when I try and diagose I continues to told to turn on wireless. I rebooted the countless times, I haven't downloaded new software or run updates since the last time it worked. I checked the Device Manager, the drivers are up to date and there is no conflict of interest. I tried of diabling the software anti vrius but this did not help.

I am currently connected via an Ethernet cable. It happened once before, but after several hours it started working again. No luck today.
Connectivity doctor acknowledges that the switch is on - but when I dianose tells me to switch on the wireless.

    Help, please!

    Hello

Maybe you need to reinstall just the Wlan driver again. that's certainly worth a try
Go to Device Manager and uninstall the driver WLan
Then restart the laptop and after windows has started again, try to install the latest WLan driver. After this procedure, restart the laptop.

In addition, back to Device Manager and check the Wlan card properties.
There is an Advanced tab. You will find lots of different options and that there could be an option that enables / disables the NIC wireless also.

Finally and check if there is no conflict between the WLan Atheros WLan configuration and settings Windows WLan configuration tools.
If you use Atheros Wlan and Wlan Windows settings should be disabled (unmarked).

    Hey Buddy,

There is no software tool to test the motherboard. This is possible with special Diagnostics of an authorized service provider.

But for RAM, there are several that Memtest86 diagnostic tools. It s based BACK of diagnostic tools that checks all areas of memory with different methods. Freeware tool is really nice that you can download here:

  • Satellite Pro A300-28V - cannot create own recovery disks

Have a portable Satellite Pro A300-28V with Vista Business 32. After a HARD disk recovery partition recovery, I decided to use the PC function full system backup to make a picture for later retrieval with all my current settings. Too inconvenient for factory reset default (Thunderbird 3.0 Mail, Open Office and some other small applications already running no problem for years on another computer in the office).

The system needs 5 to 9 DVD and he wrote the first DVD. Takes about 30 minutes. Then, during the audit of this disc, it crashes. Audit bar stops at about 30% complete.
Anyone with this experience? No, the company "Complete PC Image" works well on an OEM of Vista installation?
Or maybe it's the DVD player in need of an update? I do not use a 3rd party burning software.

    / Sweden

    Hello

What program you use to create your own recovery discs? For example, I mean Acronis, Norton Ghost, etc..

In your case I would try with another program like Nero or CD Burner XP burning.
In addition, you can try to remove upper and lower filters in the Windows registry, maybe that will work.

Finally, and especially on the Toshiba site, you can check if there is an update to the firmware of your CD/DVD drive.

  • Satellite Pro A300-1OP - Missing FEPs disk partition E:\

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro A300-1OP with Windows Vista.

The hard disk is partitioned into C:\ and E:\, each about 75 GB with a hidden options of system recovery partition. E: / shows that about 5MB, left free while C:\ shows 28GB. However, the list of files/folders to E: / shows a total of about only 10 GB. I put the hidden files & folders to be displayed in the Control Panel/appearance but no more are listed to explain the "disappeared" 65GB. I also have a warning window telling me to free up space in E:\ drive to appear.

What is the problem and how to fix it? I run Disk Cleanup, but get more no free space.

I am quite often here on this forum and I always wonder what kind of problems people have with their laptops.
If you created the recovery DVDs move all the files to the C partition and start the computer management > disk management. Deleting a volume E second partition). After having this recreate and do the full format.

It will be interesting to know if the partition will display correctly after that. If so, move all the data back and hope that everything will be OK again.
Please note: after doing this, it may happen that you will not be able to create recovery DVD or use HARD drive recovery facility then please do this if you created DVDs.

  • Satellite Pro A300 - touchpad failed after BIOS update

Ideas to solve the problem will be highly appreciated!

    Hello

Normally, it should be possible access the BIOS, if you press F2, once you have turned on the laptop. Please check again and load the default settings there.
And you cannot access the BIOS if you shut down the computer.

You can use an external mouse on the laptop? Please check this too.

I've also updated the BIOS on my Satellite A300 but I n t have a problem with the touchpad after the update.

  • Re: Satellite Pro A300 - recovery disk will reinstall Windows OS on the new HARD drive

Hard drive of my Satellite Pro A300 failed. It has now been replaced. I ordered a recovery disk.
This will allow me to reinstall Windows Vista OS that is installed initially?

Also, I get this message "BOOTMGR MISSING". The recovery disc will fix this problem too?
    Thanks in advance!

    > I ordered a recovery disk. This will allow me to reinstall Windows Vista OS that is installed initially?
    Yes. Without a doubt.

New HARD drive is recognized correctly in the BIOS settings?
    If so avoid any problem.

Moreover, A300 works perfectly and much better with Win7 32 bit.

    aaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, I'm going crazy,
Could someone tell me please how to fix this? Thanks x

    Hello

I think the value of the option SATA AHCI and hence Windows XP mode cannot find the HARD drive.
It's because of the SATA controller.
You can set the SATA AHCI compatible mode mode mode and this will allow you to install Win XP on the laptop without the use of SATA drivers.

So, you have two options if you want to install Win XP:

-> AHCI mode, but you must include the SATA drivers
Compatible mode-> Win XP installation possible without SATA drivers
