  I took delivery of a HP Touchsmart from Envy 15 - J104sa, running Windows 8.1 this week and the internal memory card reader does not work.   Unfortunately not, updates of driver solves the problem, but an update of the BIOS through the HP helper application seems to have resolved the issue. While I appreciate there were not specific drivers available in my opinion, it is difficult to accept that HP should be able to release a model where they know the equipment are not fully supported by the operating system and in this case does not work.

  I imported data and used the card rules: mapping was not what you expected, so I had to modify the sequence of the rules on the map.

  The card sequence numbers have effect in a single mapping type (Explicit, between, in, analogues), not through multiple types of mapping only. Explicit cards always take precedence.

  Sounds like keyboard problem.
  The operating system uses the pilot to clean keyboard and generally it s not necessary to reinstall the special keyboard driver.
  But one thing is really strange; the yellow exclamation mark in Device Manager

  A "quick" fix that worked for me was to uninstall Adobe... and download Adobe Reader 11.0 installation base.

  Then download each individual updates and run them sequentially.

  I installed back to the last update of security which is version 08 and were able to register under normal operations.

  You will need to disable the automatic updates to keep up with the 08 version, until Adobe fixes this problem in a future release.

  However, I have a Memory Stick Pro, and a Memory Stick Pro Duo in a Memory Stick Pro adapter, and the reader can't read one of them (they both count as Memory Stick Pro, which should be readable, right?)

  Would I be able to read my Memory Stick Pro cards? Why I can't because it says that I should be able to? Should I install something first?

  Of course, this could be a normal behavior as not all cards are compatible and taken in charge.

  Just guess... could this be a hardware problem?

  If you have more than one port... try USB to another.

  Maybe you can connect the camera to your laptop via
  USB cable and see if you can download your photos.

  The card reader does not recognize the cards.  It does not have a drive location (example: f drive).   This makes it impossible to veiw the files or photos on any (I tried six different) of my SanDisk SD cards.  I can't find anywhere to downlod corrected card rhe read updates update drivers or BIOS for my system.   I just bought this computer 1 week ago and do not understand why I read in the forums about driver issues of card reader for the last year.  Windows 8.1 has been out for some time.  Why HP would sell these computers without updating the software to make them work as they should?

  Thanks for the info.  Disk management does not show the drive.  The problem was resolved after reloading BIOS, as suggested in another post.
