memory consumption very high > 1 GB!

Hi all.  I have two applications deployed, both compiled under CVI 2015.  These applications have worked for more than a year, quite stable.  From time to time, I see some mysterious crashes, but rarely.

So yesterday, I saw one of those accidents and decided to investigate further.  It turns out that one of the applications was consuming 900MB of memory!  He climbed up to 1.3 GB when I let you force Windows to close.

Now, the other application I mentioned above seems to be consume as much memory as well.  These two applications share maybe 2% of their basic codes: just a few logging, error handling libraries, General UI elements.  They have radically different features and requirements.

And yet the two, in steady state, after maybe 96 hours of continuous operation, are chewing up nearly 1 GB of memory!

So there clearly a memory leak here somewhere.  I ran the Profiler to running but saw no major issues.

Are there known issues with the runtime of 2015?

Advice as to what I can look for memory cleaning / optimization?

Why not use the resources of the CVI followed?

If malloc without free resource tracker, will point out where they are.

My understanding is that the "Standby" and "Modified" on the client contains the ' cache ', and the 'Cached' memory prompt is the typical response to this question that I see when people seek only to the memory of 'In Use'. In my case, I'm factoring in the memory cache, my guest shows 3805 MB of real memory, yet my host shows 7.68 GB of memory consumed host, with only 68 MB of general consumption. According to my calculations, the virtual machine should be only consume about 4.28 GB of memory.

I think I found my answer in the guide 'Understanding memory resources management' here: http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/mem_mgmt_perf_vsphere5.pdf

Section "when to retrieve memory host" page 15:

«In the high State, the use of global memory machine virtual comments is smaller than the size of the host memory.» Whether or not the host memory is overcommitted, the hypervisor will not recover memory via hot-air balloon or permutation. (It is true that when the limit memory VM is not set).

If memory free host down to the low threshold, the hypervisor begins to find the memory using the balloon. Balloon happens before free memory has actually reached the soft threshold because it takes time for the balloon pilot to allocate and PIN memory physics reviews. Usually, the balloon pilot is able to retrieve the memory in a timely order to keep free memory in the host above the soft line. »

I checked esxtop, pressing "m" for the display of the memory, and I see that hosts VMKMEM shows 'State', so the only memory of way either currently retrieved is by sharing the page. Only when I start to run out of memory of the host, that this State becomes 'soft' or 'hard', balloon or Exchange will be held in order to free the "free" memory of comments. ESXTOP show my 'minfree"than 940 MB, while it shows that I physically 6960MB of free memory.

  • C2960-lanbasek9 - tar.150 - 2.SE2.tar high memory consumption

    Hi all

I would strongly appreciate that someone could explain to me why my Clients-LAN Switches (c2960) during the upgrade to new IOS namely

    rump C2960-lanbasek9 - tar.150 - 2.SE1 and c2960-lanbasek9 - tar.150 - 2.SE2 upward memory consumption to somewhere between 80% and 90%.

Is there a "bug" always with these IOS versions that could have caused this? I've never had this problem with the old version (c2960-lanbasek9 - tar.150 - 2.SE) of IOS. I've read through the Cisco Documents on these releases but wasn't too sure if new arrivals on these IOSs caused this high memory usage.

Shown is an example of one of many c2960-switches using these IOSs. In the meantime, I intend to downgrade to c2960-lanbasek9 - tar.150 - 2.SE.

    Looking forward to your answers.

  • High memory consumption of Developer SQL 3.2.20.09.87

    Hello

I have been using SQL Developer for some time and had initially had problems in the past with memory consuption high when I use this tool.
I have received and applied the advice from this forum, and while he had helped a little, the majority of high memory consumption remains a problem.

Finally, I had more time to dig around and try to isolate exactly where the problem seems to come from and here's what I found.

    (* 1) * I removed functionality updates checking
(* 2) * I turned it off a lot of the extensions with the exception of Navigator DBA, SQL monitoring in real time, search bar, and extracts.
(* 3) * when I start a fresh SQL Developer Session and initiate an Oracle application connection consumes about 148 meg RAM fo
(* 4) * when I opened my Windows Task Manager and watch the memory allocated to SQL Developer, I noticed it goes back to when I move my mouse over the SQL Developer tool and when I run the menu about 5 k a second or so and the memory never came out in the system.
(* 5) * when I run a great SQL in the memory grid jumps by about 100 meg or more and will continue to do so whenever I repeat the SQL until the SQL Developer consumes about 748 meg of RAM.
(* 6) * 748 Meg of RAM seems to be the number when the SQL Developer (with an Oracle connection) is more continues to consume more and then not return memory to the system.

Is it possible to have a SQL Developer automatically clear it's using active memory without closing down then restarting him?
Why SQL Developer continues to consume memory more and more just to move your mouse or navigation in the menus?

    Here is my speech in detail;

    Hi Tom,

Memory consumption you observe is characteristic of the machine virtual Java and algorithm of garbage collection that he uses. There are a few tricks you can use to improve the deallocation of memory in the JAVA virtual machine. See the following topics:
Re: Reduce the footprint memory SQLDeveloper with JDK 1.7
Re: Memory leak or bad Java Garbage Collector

In addition, it is best to follow the size of the heap of the JVM and memory via a memory profiler. The Task Manager is supposed to these exaggerate.

If the swap file itself grows in fact you may suspect a leak memory by an application, it is called a leak 'Paged', usually, notice increased use of pagefile with an increasing slowness of the machine.  As the demand for 'leaks' or consumes more memory Windows pages pages of the RAM in the swap file, where the name, 'Paged' leaking, leaks memory in the paging file.

The Task Manager is not a very good job of giving you the 'real' swap file usage, to get use accurate, you can analyze the file with the corresponding Perfmon counter or you
can use PageFileMon from Doug Knox utility: http://www.dougknox.com/xp/utils/xp_pagefilemon.htm

Open your task manager and click on the view menu and click Select columns...  Put a check mark on the columns paged and Thread Count.  Keep an eye on these columns over a period of time, showing a constantly growing number likely suspicious process Thread.

You can monitor these counters with Perfmon, that might be useful:
Using performance monitor to identify a pool leak

  • services.exe memory consumption and therefore 15 minutes to start

services.exe memory consumption and therefore 15 minutes for bootProblem Description: it seems that since the installation of updated KB973687 my Dell Inspiron 640 m takes an age to start. I am running XP SP3 with all updates installed, have 2 x 512 MB memory installed and the basics of microsoft security is enabled and no virus detected. Run the task on the Startup Manager, I see that services.exe 2 user running objects. Maximum memory use reaches about 500 000 to 600 000 k and the size of the virtual memory increases to more than 2,000, 000 k. Once the VM reached approximately 2 200 000 k it starts to release very slowly and finally reduced to a size of about 6 000 - 7, 000 k, then just a race of user object. It is not until that time where the system becomes usable. What is happening at each startup and lasts about 15 minutes for the system be usable. I have read many articles on this issue, and the other that a clean reinstall which I do not, cannot find a solution. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Operating system: Windows XP

Your list is very different and much longer than mine. My first thought is that you have the programs loading at startup that might as well load up on request. A useful tool for watching the startup items is Autoruns.

Right-click on the report, and then select the graphic Performance. What is the CPU usage and the private bytes. I suspect that you need to know the use during StarUp but for now know how to do this.

I'm intrigued by the absence of references to other security software. What antivirus, antispyware and firewall do you use?

    Hope this helps, Gerry Cornell

  • AIR iOS app - how much memory consumption, it's too?

    Hi all

I have an app focused on Flex AIR that works very well on Android.

IOS (iPhone 4), it freezes after it worked for a while, and I suspect that the problem is that the application consumes too much memory.

I'm looking at System.totalMemoryNumber, and it is the statement that the application uses between 17 and 23 MB right until it freezes.

Is this a lot for an iOS app?

Is there a better way for me to review/research/diagnose this? I did a lot of research and it does not appear that AIR apps get no warning IOS memory becomes low.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi all

I answer at least a part of my own question...

I created a test application that has added 10K characters in a string on every enterFrame, then he ran until it crashed. He always seems to get up to about 175 MB (as reported by System.totalMemoryNumber) before it crashes.

This has happened with and without several other applications running in the background.

As mentioned above, it is on an iPhone 4.

It seems that my current problem is not caused by excessive memory consumption.

  • CPU becomes very high - OS restart automatically - viruses?

for 3 months, I have a problem with my cpu...
the use of the cpu suddenly become very high and that's when I have access to the internet...
the computer is just after this release out of control and the operating system automatically restarts from scratch, why is this?

    Hi Ryad,

This behavior soiunds looks a lot like the Sasser worm that causes very heavy use of the CPU and causes also the PC restart regularly.

You need start your computer in safe mode, and then run your antivirus software (I would also like to run your Malware software as well) to try to remove the virus. However, Sasser is not so easy to remove so please also consult the following URL: -.

  • Satellite A660-167 - audio latency very high indeed

    Hello guys.

I have a Toshiba A660-167 and I'm having a problem with the audio latency, it is actually very high.
I am using Windows 7 Home premium 64-bit and I already tried using windows 7 32-bit and windows Xp but the problem remains.

Toshiba already tried to "fix" my problem, but as they said that my laptop works perfectly.
If someone knows something about the latency problem that his help will be very appreciated...

    Thanks in advance

    Hi dj_betty,

And how did you notice this problem of DPC latency?
You have a problem with noise or speakers as low volume or what?

I must say that my Satellite A660 runs great. I often listen to music with headphones or speakers in-house and have no problem at all. Music and video will be read correctly.

  • Qosmio F30-140: Vista stopped and I heard a very high noise

    Hello everyone

Really, I have a big problem
My operating system is Windows XP media center 2005 and it is written above (Designed for windows xp, Windows Vista capable)

2 last week I had installed windows Vista ultimate 32 bit and pilots of the Qosmio, but after 2 days when I worked in Microsoft office Word, the system stopped and I heard a very high noise of it (maybe the processor or fans) but he was really scared and immediately, I turned it of the power button.

This problem occurred 4 times through this time. I had installed windows xp again from the recovery disk and there is no problem and I installed Windows Vista again hard night but today in the morning the same problem again.

I don't really know how to fix this and I look forward to receiving help from you.

    Hello

It s certainly nothing wrong with the firmware Toshiba VAP this nothing to do with your question, you issue sounds more like an overheating problem the OS freezes at a temperature inside the laptop.

Probably don t cooling modules run a full implementation because of the dust and debris inside the laptop.

The second reason why a laptop could overheat is the graphics driver installed _non-Toshiba_!

  • My screen iphone6 is cracked and in my country, they can only change the iphone with a new one and with a very high price. Is there anyway that I could replace just the screen?

My screen iphone6 is cracked and in my country, they can only change the iphone with a new one and with a very high price. Is there anyway that I could replace just the screen?

No, if you want to keep all rights to the service or support from Apple. Not to mention the fact that it then will be bork Touch ID and make the phone unusable if ever, you restore or update of iOS.

Apple doesn't sell parts of the iPhone. There is no legitimate sources for replacement screens.

  • X 1-consumption of high power (> 20W), GPU 100% life time battery, short, fan-noise

My new X 1 is ideal for grinding through data, but energy consumption seems high when idling or when I do simple tasks.

I have the BIOS version 1.27 (released October 21, 2011) and Power Manager 3.62

I have used Power Manager in order to use the value "low energy". However, the power used is always > 20W and usually around 25 - 27W. This translates into excessive heat (so the fan runs at 4500 RPM all the time) and the battery is lasting less than 1 hour if I give a Powerpoint presentation (not movies).

In addition, the power watch GPU at 100% all the time - Manager is this normal or would it not be a cause of increased tension required?

I tried all the solutions on fan noise in this thread:

    http://forums.Lenovo.com/T5/X-series-ThinkPad-Laptops/X1-fan-noise/TD-p/469001

I tried to set all the power settings to maximize independence in Windows 7, and then also in the power manager, but not enjoy. Help, please! What are the normal electrical needs and the GPU % at idle?

  • Very high CPU usage in svchost during playback of an event in a major newspaper of the events using WMI

    Hello

I have a very high utilization of the processor in the process 'svchost.exe LocalServiceNetworkRestricted' during playback of an event in an event log in Windows 2008 64 SP02 using local or remote WMI.  The same happens using Wbemtest or C++ WMI code.  The use of WbemTest, "Open forum" (identical to one the GetObject of WMI API) read just one of recent events in the event log:

Win32_NTLogEvent.logfile = "application", recordNumber = 2615657 (in this case, it was the id since the last event in the very large to the Application event log)

takes 3/4 seconds consuming thant plus 50% of the monitored computer CPU.  This only occurs when the event log is very large (in my case 1 million records), the event log contains about 10000 events just fine.

The problem is that I read the complete paper in a remote program and this product CPU usage charge too much CPU to the monitored computer.  I do not read the newspaper of the events one by one, but I'm using WQL queries but I do some GetObjects and the peformance is really terrible.

Any idea what to change or search?

    Best regards

    Jordi
