Merge networks

I have two computers, both running Win 7.  I have a gateway router, a Cisco RV 130 and a network switch, a Cisco SG200.  Both computers are connected to the switch and the router to the Internet and the switch.  Internet connectivity is not a problem, computers see thin Internet.

However when the computers were connected to the switch Win 7 implemented (automatically) 2 'networks' - 3 and 4.  Now the map of the internet will not draw correctly, not showing is not the 'other' computer on each machine.  In my view, the solution is to merge networks 3 and 4 but cannot find how to do that from network and sharing Center (there no list of networks that I can find).

Can anyone help.

Thank you

JB

John, two questions if I can try to help you better.

Have you tried to join both computers to the same homegroup?

There the V-Lans configured on the switch?

  • Cannot cancel the merge network connections!

I just bought a new desktop computer with Windows 7. After trying for centuries share my Tethered Android phone connected to my PC through the router (which took me only minutes to make previous basic PC on Vista) try the two ICS and option of connecting with nothing working. Internet worked well on the PC, but nothing else would be in touch. Also, I could only get on the extremely limited file sharing network. He let me see the folders and open them, but then I couldn't do anything with the content.

No I found an option to merge the connections that I did think if she doesn't I could unmerge them. How wrong I was. There seems to be no way to do that. I tried to disable the adapters, uninstall the drivers but as soon as I start them again exactly the same.

  • How to cancel "merge network locations?

    Hello!
I got two home networks in "network and sharing Center", then I clicked on one of the networsk and in the pop window clicked on 'merge or delete network locations' up, here I have merged the two networks.
Now I have a home network with two locations of connection in it.
Is there a way to cancel this merge and restore to two separate networks?

    Thank you.

    Thanks for the reply.

The restoration of the system is the last resort, and I or someone else should not use it just to cancel some feature in windows 7 offers...
From the second solution - (I think you were referring to Vista, there is no such thing as 'Classic view' and 'customize' at least I couldn't find it) it is not as quiet work as simple as that, because we cannot remove the networks that are in use. However, now that you mentioned this solution there is a way to remove a network (I'll go ahead and say it now - removal of the network and recreate - haven't helped, thanks).

So, here are the steps I did to remove a network 'in service ':
    (1) to the "network and sharing Center", click on the network icon, in the window pop up click on "merge or delete network location".  You should see the status of your network as "in use". Leave this window open.
    (2) go to the "network and sharing Center"-> "change map settings. Disable all network adapters that are connected to your network.
    (3) switch back to the "" merge or delete network location "window." Now your network status should appear as 'Not in use' (and that select this button to delete the network is active). Delete the network.
    (4) now you can activate the network adapters that you turned off in step 2 and it should guide you in the creation of new networks for each network adapter.

    Fact.

  • Network fusion in Windows Vista

Hey guys, I was exploring just my pc and I found something that is called "merge networks or remove network" my question is, what is merge network? If I merge two network will be my bandwidth increase or what? If one of the connection disconnects the other will take his place until that has been disconnected comes back and resumes the task?

    Hi Drknero,

If you are connected to the two service providers via a wireless connection, then it won't be a connection that will be a default connection.

Now, say if you are disconnected from this connection, then you will need to manually connect to the other connection.

However, if you are connected through a wired connection and Wi - Fi, then in such scenarios when down in one connection, it automatically resumes.

    I hope this helps.

  • Network cable unplugged, the Panel grey adapter after removal of Fusion to a new mac

    I can't "solve this problem.

A couple of months, I moved to a new iMac (end 2013) and the network in Fusion stopped working.

Windows (XP) says: "network cable unplugged".

Merge network adapter control says it has allowed (part that my mac is turned on), but the Panel is disabled, grayed out.

I tried to change to full NAT, but mothing changed.

Since then I upgraded Fusion 6 an update of version minor and improved Fusion 7, but the problem is still there.

In the knowledge base, I found something similar, called other products VMWare, who suggested that the problem might be in the configuration of the network of Mac, but I am not sure where; and, in any case, S.O. and configuration and even got on the older iMac, where everything worked fine.

I'm quite often connected to a VNC using Tunnelblick, but I tried to turn it off and the problem is still there. (And even once, on the old Mac it worked great even through VNC).

    Any suggestion?

After asking the VMWare Support they suggested merge to uninstall and reinstall from scratch. It worked.

  • Private network between two or more virtual machines?

I've been running an educational network configuration kind of base on esxi to work to teach their colleagues how running things. To do this I create a separate switch, connect the virtual machines to (only) the switch and run Ethereal on a machine with network in promiscous mode.

Now, I would do it on my laptop. Can I do this with the merger? Can I network machines without connecting to the host (to ensure that there is no additional noise)? Can I configure a NIC in promiscous mode?

    sflanders wrote:

I think the important part of the question is in regards to the networking VMs as they see, but not the host (btw merger networking of information: http://communities.vmware.com/docs/DOC-2527). Basically, it boils down to the host option only and the answer is no.

In fact, the answer is yes because after that Virtual Machines are started can be simply down the vmnet1 network card and thus isolate the virtual machines between them.

In other words on the network of Machines target virtual host-only and then start them up to the point where they receive their IP address DHCP host-only server, then in a Terminal on Mac (/ Applications/Utilities /) use the following command in low only Ethernet adapter of the host host.

    sudo ifconfig vmnet1 down

Now the target of the Virtual Machines will be able to communicate only with each other and not the host.

Note: You must down only Ethernet adapter of the host host after the virtual machines have acquired their IP addresses, because if you down the adapter before the Virtual Machines will not receive their IP addresses.

The host only allows virtual machines to see the host, but it really shouldn't be any other "noise". Why do you have to be concerned about this?

On the question of the noise, I think that VMware Fusion actually uses virtual hubs, no virtual switches (even if by mistake, VMware calls virtual switches), there is a risk of bleeding, and this has been discussed ad nauseam and various forums.

  • SGE2000 / questions SRW208G VLAN

So we have a little SGE2000P and several SRW208G more, and it was decided to use a GSM7312 for basic L3 functionality (price was among the main issues to be considered, we have found nothing else suited our needs of features in this range). We have just received the GSM7312, seized of the whole of the network was flat

We have several VLANs that need to communicate with some shared resources on a particular VIRTUAL local network. A VLAN mentioned individual will, among other things, the domain controller (make DNS/DHCP) and our RAS in a box that does also all web content filtering, RAS area is directly connected to our line of T-carrier.

right now, everything is in 1 VLAN pointing to the RAS area as its front door. currently all EMS/SRW switches are also directed towards the RAS area as a gateway.

So now we have L3 functionality in place and can affect the IPs to VLAN, am I right to say that all the SEMs and SRWs must point to as default gateway GSM, while GSM only points to the RAS area as its entrance door?

What about pushing DHCP from the domain controller in 1 VLAN to all others? I see that both the EMS and GSM support DHCP relay - what do I have to use? Something doesn't seem right about this... for example. Let's say I have the ms in the VLAN 200 (192.168.2.0/24) and VLAN 300 (192.168.3.0/24) and 400 (192.168.4.0/24) customers. If the switch transmits a broadcast DHCP request to the domain controller, the domain controller is going to know what scope/pool to give the address of? The server would be blind to the fact that the request was relayed to all, and even less should it been relayed from a knot of VLAN 400.

There are a few resolutions in my mind to this problem, but I don't know that I'm barking all the good trees.

One thought would be to establish special reserves for DHCP leases by MAC address in DHCP server pools (assuming that the destination MAC is not changed when the switch relay... I would even consider that at all until I typed all this).

Another idea would be to multihome server and place it in each VLAN unique just to serve DHCP addresses

Another idea would be to buy an 802. 1 q capable NETWORK card for the server and the trunk all the VLAN to it.

These two little seems to defeat some of the purpose of VLAN'ing because network that I placed once more at least 1 server in each area of dissemination of layer 2.

Someone please tell me what single thing I'm on

    1. your box of RAS is already a router. This is your default gateway to the internet. The routes on the RAS area are to tell her at what router it traffic for what IP subnet. For example, the traffic of 10.10.71.0/255.255.255.0 must go the GSM. So:

    2. you must add 3 routes on the RAS server. And on the domain controller to route traffic directly to the correct gateway, you must add the same routes. Otherwise the DC would always send the traffic to the RAS hence it is send to the mobile PHONE, even if it was possible for the domain controller to send it directly to the GSM. A route tells a computer where to send a specific IP traffic. You need the transatlantic lines to suite of destinations on the AR and the domain controller:

    10.10.71.0/255.255.255.0
    10.10.30.0/255.255.255.0
    10.10.40.0/255.255.255.0

The gateway to all these three subnets is GSM not the RAS. Let's not the 10.0.2.3 that you have suggested. The correct IP address is 10.0.1.230, which is the IP address of the GSM (the next router on the path to these destinations). These roads should be persisted. You can add at the command prompt, or I think you can also add them to RRAS.

    3. you're merging doesn't have anything by doing this. The GSM and the RAS will be routers and therefore only to route traffic between subnets. In so doing, they provide connectivity. But it is not fusion. You would merge networks if you put in a bridge instead of a router or switch.

    4. the Handset will always carry the traffic according to its routing table. By default, the routing table contains all subnets to which it is directly connected. The routing of the GSM table has entries of routing for all four IP subnets to which it is connected: 10.0.0.0/255.255.0.0, 10.10.71.0/24, 10.10.30.0/24 and 10.10.40.0/24. If the mobile PHONE receives a packet for any of these IP subnets it will forward it to the destination in the VLAN respective. If the IP address is not in these four subnets it passes the packet to the gateway by default unless you define a static route. For your configuration, you don't have to add the routes to the mobile PHONE. He already knows what he has to know.

    5. the change of IP address you want is not possible: you cannot configure a VLAN 10.10.0.0/255.255.0.0. It is not possible. The 10.10.0.0/16 VLAN consists of all the IPS 10.10. *. *. If you have a VIRTUAL LAN that you cannot have another VLAN with IP address 10.10.30.0/24. Any IP subnet that is connected to a router must be different. If the mobile PHONE has two VLAN connected 10.10.0.0/16 and 10.10.30.0/24 he wouldn't know where to send the traffic to 10.10.30. * because this IP address is routable two different VLANs. You can only move servers to a subnet as 10.10.1.0/24 or similar. It would be unique in your configuration.

    6. There is no "L3 VLAN. A VLAN is always a VLAN. It's always layer 2. You can consider each VLAN as a completely separate physical unmanaged ethernet LAN switching. VLAN is simply a technique to have several LAN separated on a single device (p. ex. 1 managed switch with 4 VLANS instead of 4 switches unmanaged separated). An L3 switch is just another word for a VIRTUAL local network router. It's a L2 switch with a built-in router. There's still that L2 VLAN. But it can also route between different IP subnets in the connected VLANs.

This shows that the virtual machine is now through the subnet of Wireshark vmnet8 however does not reveal vmnet8 and just en0 - en1 and en1 is getting all the traffic. Why no vmnet8? Why vmnet8 receives a routable address? It should not be one of those numbers 192.xxx.xxx.xxx or non-routable 10.xxx.xxx.xxx? And even if windows is bridged and use 192.168.1.42, little snitch on mac keeps asking if vmnet-natd(8) can talk to the net, so I know that it is active.

I can see the packets destined for the ip address of windows but it is mixed with the traffic destined for the mac (I know because they both use the same airport) but it's all exceed them en1.

(btw, I don't understand why the gateway in windows is not 172.16.143.1 but plutot.2 - after all the windows box to not talk to vmnet8?)

Why vmnet8 receives a routable address? It should not be one of those numbers 192.xxx.xxx.xxx or non-routable 10.xxx.xxx.xxx?

172.16.143.132 is a non-routable address.  Take a look "3. Private address space' in the document RFC 1597 - Address Allocation for Private Internets.

(btw, I don't understand why the gateway in windows is not 172.16.143.1 but plutot.2 - after all the windows box to not talk to vmnet8?)

Except for VMnet0, the default value for the last byte is always 1 for all other VMnets on the host and, therefore, the last byte of a IP address of gateway with a VMnet NAT in the default values of comments 2.  These are encoded in the VMware Virtual Network Infrastructure but can be easily changed in the virtual network Editor.  Oh, sorry, it's true that VMware has not provided users of VMware Fusion with a publisher of network virtual as in VMware Workstation or even their free VMware Player!   This means that any changes made to the VMnets must be done manually.

  • Connectivity with XP issues

    Hi all

I'm under Fusion Version 2.0 (116369) on my computer MacBook Leopard with Windows XP running under a guest account. I've never had connectivity problems on the side of the XP of the things until this morning where (apparently) out of the blue I send/receive errors from Outlook and "Server not found" error when you try to connect to the Internet. Because I have this on the side of Mac, I am assuming that there is a problem with XP but don't know enough about the networks to solve the problem. Any suggestions?

    Thank you!

If the network is working properly on your Mac, but not on the client, then you pretty much go through the same type of measures, as you would if XP was running on a physical machine in case of problems.  I sometimes had problems with the merge network process does not start when I was running Fusion 2.0.x then the first thing and the easiest to try is off of the guest and restart the Mac.  When the Mac is restarted wait a few minutes before you start the client (Fusion done start a number of processes to the start-up of the machine and many of them are supporting networking).

Make any kind of boxes of Fusion to mistake when you start the client?  When I had this problem, I get a dialog box indicating that the network was not available.

    If you get any sort of merge network error when starting the guest can stop the prompt.  In a Terminal, run the following commands;

    CD/Library/Application/VMware

    sudo boot.sh - restart

You can copy and paste these lines one at a time in the terminal, hit return / enter after each key.  The 2nd command prompts you to insert your password you need to enter (no letters don't appear in the terminal when you type your password).

Then try to restart the client.

    If the system still does not work, you need to understand what is happening inside the guest.  Your best bet is to bring up a cmd window and type the command;

    ipconfig/all

If you don't know how to interpret the results of the ipconfig command and then paste it into a response and I will try to help you understand what is wrong.

  • Windows file - sharing continues to change the IP address

"Windows users can access your computer at smb://172.xx.xx.xxx.

    or

"Windows users can access your computer at smb://someothercomputername.

I have a new IP address every day I log on the office network (dhcp), but I should be able to use my computer name to map a drive.  My merge network setting is NAT.  All this experience?

    Thank you

    Andrew

In the Windows virtual machine, go to a command prompt and type "ipconfig" (without the quotes).  The IP address of the gateway that is actually the virtual NETWORK card that Fusion creates on the Mac.  Therefore, replace the number with what your gateway 172.x.x.x number.  This gateway number does not change.

  • Help, please! HOW CAN I CANCEL A MERGER IN NETWORK ON VISTA BUSINESS?

Recently, I'm new to Vista Business & while I was setting up networks I have merged with a wireless network, on the accident. Now, I have all of other windows programs on my hard drive & I can't undo that! I tried several times to restore but it fails. How can I reverse this? I want to just my old network LAN back! Help, please!

I'm sorry, but there is no point at all. If you connected by mistake to an another unsecured wireless network, you do not have all their programs installed on your hard drive. You could see everything on the hard drive of this person if you look at what it is sharing, but all his stuff cannot magically transferred to your computer. If you know this person, it would be a good thing to explain why it is important to use good encryption on wireless networks. They are probably completely unaware of what they are doing and would be horrified to know that their stuff is visible in the world.

Better, please explain what is the configuration of your network and what you were doing. If you try to connect to your wireless network, maybe you didn't your configured properly and that is why you connect to hers. This often occurs if both parties leave the default SSID (wireless network name). Example: If you have both left to 'Linksys', you could connect to the Linksys instead of your Linksys. Just for completeness, here are the instructions for implementing a secure wireless network:

Have a computer connected to the router with an ethernet cable. Examples given are for a Linksys router. See the manual of your router or the router mftr's Web site. for the parameters by default if you don't have a Linksys. Open a browser such as Internet Explorer or Firefox and in the address bar type:

http://192.168.1.1 [Enter] (it is default IP address of the router, which varies from router to router then check your manual)

This will bring you to the login screen of the router. The default username is blank and the Linksys default password is "admin" without the quotes. Enter this information. You are now in the configuration of the router utility. Your configuration utility may be slightly different from mine. The first thing to do is to change the default password because * all * known default passwords for different routers.

Click the Administration link at the top of the page. Enter your new password. MAKE A NOTE SOMEWHERE THAT YOU WILL NOT LOSE. Re-enter the password to confirm it, and then click Save settings at the bottom of the page. The router will reboot and show you the box of connection again. Do not fill in the user name and put it in your new password to enter the configuration utility.

Now, click on the link wireless at the top of the page. Change the network name (SSID) wireless by default to something, you'll recognize. I suggest that my clients not use their surname as the SSID. For example, you might want to name your network wireless network "CastleAnthrax" or similar. ;-)

Click on save settings and when you get the prompt that your changes were successful, click the wireless security link which is just beside the Basic Wireless Settings link (where you changed your SSID). Most computers purchased during the last 4 years have the wireless hardware that will support WPA2-Personal (also known as WPA2-PSK). This is the desired encryption level. If your wireless hardware is older, use WPA. Don't use WEP, because who is easily broken within minutes. So go ahead and set the Security Mode WPA2-Personal. Do this and enter a password. For example, you could use the password ' here be dragons, beware you scurvy dogs! The password is what you enter on all computers that are allowed to connect to the wireless network. MAKE A NOTE SOMEWHERE THAT YOU WILL NOT LOSE.

At this point, your router is set up and if the computer that you use to configure the router will normally connect wireless, disconnect the ethernet cable and wireless of the computer should see your new network. Enter the password that you have created (exactly as you wrote it with all capital letters and punctuation) to join the network and start surfing.

  • Merge devices with multiple network interfaces

    Hello

Is it possible to add several interfaces to a device network, but merged into a single device?

For example, we have a lot of HP and Dell servers that have usually a network interface and an interface of management (ILO or iDRAC).

It would be useful to be able to add two interfaces while having them mapped on the same server in NMS. The network interface would show us the availability on the network and the management interface may alert us hardware problems via SNMP.

Anyone knows if this is possible, or do we need to have more than one entry for each server?

    Thanks in advance

    Ewan

    Hi Ewan,

If the INVESTIGATION period is not recognized by the operating system, we most likely would not be able to draw the individual IP addresses of the ILO or the iDRAC. You can present this as a feature request in the ideas of the community section.

  • Whenever my host network access changes, merger restarts comments NAT networks

Whenever my ethernet link status changes, merger 5.0.3 restarts my NAT network for my guest Ubuntu 10.04. This causes all my SSH and NFS connections to freeze up to 1-2 minutes. This also sometimes causes merger itself to beachball.

Why would he do that? How should I do?

    Thank you.

Since NAT can use all (or part) interfaces of the host, there is no way of knowing which of your interfaces is used at a given time. So if any host interface is disconnected, interface NAT of the VM needs to be reset. For most use cases, it's the appropriate security behavior, otherwise customers will never notice that the link state has changed and let embusked connections until they expire.

However, it is understandable that there may be situations where it is not ideal. It is possible to disable the propagation of State of link NAT for all cards in the virtual machine and make NAT networks appear always connected, by adding the following line to the .vmx file:

    vmnat.linkStatePropagation.disable = 'TRUE '.

Note that this is distinct from the bridged interface link state propagation, which is controlled by the individual options and ethernet #. linkStatePropagation.enable.

  • How can I activate the network between my guests on merger 4.1?

    Hello

I just started with VMware Fusion 4.1 and I want to create a local network for testing. On VMware workstation, it is pretty easy to do, but on the merger, it will not allow the traffic between my guests.

I have 2 linux guests running, both with ssh service active and upward. I can ping each of them and also the Lion OS guests but I can't ssh to one guest to another, he said that there is no route to the host. I can ssh to OS Lion for guests.

Do anyone knows how I can activate more ICMP traffic between guests?

    Thanks in advance,

    Will be

Well first of all let me say that I have no problem making a ssh session between host comments, comments to the host and or guest invited on Mac OS X Lion and VMware Fusion 4.1.1.  So I would say that you do not have something properly configured and if you use Fedora, the first thing I do is the firewall and disable SELinux, at least for the connectivity test, then go from there.

    1. Difference Fusion Windows XP and Win7 settings - network adapter network > NAT settings look identical.
    2. Restart Windows 7.

    Hello

Have you tried restarting your Mac, or at least unlog and relog? I had the same problem and do so resolved.

The problem seems to be (on the side mac) that the extension of the kernel named "vmioplug" of the old version of VMWare Fusion could not be unloaded. Thus, a new could not be charged and that avoided networking to work properly...

I got the following error in /var/log/system.log launching VMWare Fusion 4.1:

    19 Nov 23:37:48 Macbookabenua com.apple.kextd [13]: unable to load the Applications/Utilities/VMware Fusion.app/Contents/Library/kexts/vmioplug.kext - a different version is already loaded.

So I tried to unload this old extension manually (via: sudo kextunload ' / Applications/Utilities/VMware Fusion.app/Contents/Library/kexts/vmioplug.kext'), but this did not help. Really, the extension could not be unloaded.

But unlogging apparently unlocked something and allowed me to unload the extension core.
