I've lived all of the online help.  Continue to receive the error message.  You need to install Turbo tax.  Any suggestions?

I guess Xp 32 means 32-bit?

You install sp3 via Windows update or you manually download sp3 and try to install it? If you have not tried to install it manually we will give that a shot. Download sp3 from HERE. Save the file to your desktop for convenience. Double-click on the file and choose run. Make sure that you disable all malware/spyware/antivirus before installing software.

  • access denied while installing sql server 2008 r2 in win8 64bits

Hello, I'm new here with poor English, so I'm sorry if I was rude.

I have a problem when installing sql server in my laptop, the vaio e 14 p, with victory 8 series and its 64-bit, it seems family premium, so I think the problem is that my pc has no gpedit.msc, then I tried to download it online, but when gpedit.msc is done and I tried to install sql server 2008 r2 again the problem still the same "access denied" when the installation process is almost finished.

I want to use sql server for my school task soon, so I hope you can help me.

  • Restore access to My Documents after reinstalling XP, I get the message: 'access denied '.

Original title: restore access to My Documents after reinstalling XP

Recently, I acquired a virus with which Microsoft Security Essentials could not cope.  Then one day the computer refused to start.  I wrongly assumed that my hard drive was dead, so I installed a new HD and reinstalled Windows XP.  [Actually, I first tried the upgrade to Windows 7, because program upgrade windows 7 Microsoft has already said that my computer was compatible... but Windows 7 disk says otherwise!]  Then I tried to install the HD original in an another drive Bay and discovered it still worked, but I could not boot from it.  Apparently, the virus has killed the OS (Windows XP) but my files, programs and documents are still there.  The problem is that when I try to access my old "My Documents" folder, I get the message: 'access denied '.  I believe that this is because the files are stored in a password protected user account.  I know the password, but I do not know how to access the files.

I tried to create a user account on my new HD (with the operating system Windows XP reinstalled) with the same name and the password that I used on my original (with the Windows operating system XP corrupted) HD to create all the document files.  However, opening a session with this account name and password did NOT restore my access to the My Documents folder on my original hard drive.

I'm out of ideas.  Help, please!

    Try this,

    Start in safe mode.
Open your computer and right click on your external hard drive.
    Go to properties.
    Click Security.
Click on Edit under a quote "to change permissions, click on change."
    Click on Add.
Type in "everyone" in the white box.
Then check in the box "total control".
    Press OK.

This makes the hard drive usable by everyone (all users and different computers)

    I hope this helps.

  • Just installed SP3 for XP - now many of my icons are generic "executable", including MS Apps

I finally just installed SP3 for XP and will have proplems with my icons.  Many of my shortcuts desctop now have generic icon for an executable file, and I can't get back them to the icon on the right, even using TweakUI.  This includes all applications of MS Office 2007.  Are still not working the icons to launch the application, but I can't retrieve the appropriate icon.

When I right click an icon of 'good', I get a full menu of options, including those installed with other applications (like adding a archive, WinRAR).  With a "generic" icon, I get only the default list.

When I choose Properties for a 'good' icon, the target lists the full path to the .exe file and is editable.  I can also click on the three buttons at the bottom.  With a 'generic' in the properties icon, the target is simply the name of the program (Outlook 2007 lists "Microsoft Office Ultimate 2007") and is grey, so I can't change it.  In addition, the "Find target" and "Change icon" buttons are gray.

Finally, the files associated with these applications have also lost their icons and now show just generic file icons.  However, double click on these files still brings the correct application and the 'Type' is always listed correctly.

Any ideas on how I could fix this?  Thank you!

OK, I thought about it... and feel kind of stupid but I did not before.  In any case, I posted the question, so I'll share my answer - the long version.

During my first install of XP on my machine, I did a 10 GB partition which would be fair for the operating system.  After a few years, it became clear that it was a little too small, this partition began to fill.  When I first tried to go to SP3, I didn't have enough space on this partition to complete it.  then, I moved some files on the main data partition.  One of the folders, I moved a C:\WINDOWS\Installer.  I didn't know that this file was required for some of the icons on my desktop .exe.

Anyway, I moved everything back to where it belongs, and now everything is back to normal.  Learn something new every day if you're not careful!

I traced down on the threads here that it's a common problem with the vise Installer application that many use to install their software, so they do not install for the same reason. Apparently the cause of changes in security in mac OS.

How manually set privileges TEMPORARILY so that I can get this software to be installed from the installation disc?

P.S. I already do not clean install (only admin), updated, then disk utility used to repair permissions and that it was not fixed.

You may need to restore the permissions on your user account. To do this, start on your recovery partition (hold down the command and R during startup) and open Terminal from the Utilities menu. In the Terminal, type: 'resetpassword' (without the), press return, and then select the admin user. You do not have to reset your password. Click the icon of your Mac hard drive at the top. In the list box below, select the user account that has problems. At the bottom of the window, you will see a box labeled restore Home Directory permissions and ACLs. Click the button to reset there. The process takes a few minutes. When you're finished, restart.

Hi all, when trying to install KB968930, towards the end, and like its doing the up-to-date register I get an access denied error dialog box then it uninstalls.  I tried as admin (run as) etc., log files that I include extracts, this seems to indicate that it is the registry. I googled and spent days trying to solve this problem, and here's what I tried.  I am unable to continue the migration until this update is installed.

I check the permissions on the hklm > svchost key

I tried to reset administrator rights in all domains on the server

I used process monitor to try to pinpoint the location at which it fails, but it does not show access denied entry.

I looked through all the files, newspapers and google the error messages as described below.

I enabled the logging of the installation also.
