Microsoft 'help' on the AutoPlay does not work

When I attach my iPod touch to my laptop, the AutoPlay does not appear. I tried the advice from Microsoft:

  1. Open AutoPlay by clicking on the button start , and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, type autoplay, and then click AutoPlay

But it does not, because when my iPod is plugged in, it does not appear in the devices section when the directions above are met.

I also tried to go to the devices and printers in Control Panel, where my iPod is displayed. However, by following the instructions on the right click on the device and select AutoPlay... AutoPlay is not one of the four choices.

I also tried

  1. Click the button start , click principally made programs, accessories, right-click Guest, and then click Run as administrator.  If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
  2. At the command prompt, type net start shellhwdetection, and then press ENTER.

  3. Restart your computer.

This is not something new, but I decided that I would be able to transfer pictures from my iPod to my laptop, and I can't unless this problem can be solved.

Windows 7, iPod Touch generation 4

IPod does not support that.  Apple requires that the only way to do what you want to use iTunes. Something I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy, but it is the rule of Apple.
