  I have had and used the Elite and Intellimouse keyboard for many years.  My keyboard has recently developed a problem. I am able to recognize and install it, but it does not 'Connected', such as the IntelliMouse. Or it does not show recently used. The only information shown in the Bluetooth Panel is Microsoft Keyboard and password activated.

  The mouse shows Microsoft Mouse, no password, connected.

  When I select the keyboard and click on properties, then on services, the drivers for keyboard, mice, etc (HID) box is not checked. I check it, then hit apply, and I get the error Service Bluetooth "access denied."

  I was able to install the keyboard on another computer and it works fine.  The support of bluetooth and bluetooth services seem to work fine as well.  I've uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers for the keyboard and the mouse and the mouse still works fine but no resolution on the keyboard. I am running XP SP3 on my computer, and it has all the latest updates and drivers that I can find.  In addition, I was the software updates when the keyboard stop working.  Very well, I was typing a moment and the next day, that he had just left.

  After almost 7 months together trying to figure out this I finally got mine to work! After reading the post from Yawp73, I didn't uninstall my old version of Microsoft Keyboard Elite for Bluetooth and reinstalled the latest version of Microsoft. When I went to add devices and I saw the keyboard icon, click on it instead and press 'next' to put in the passcode, I right click it and went to properties, then services and CHECKED the box for the drivers for keyboard, mice, etc.. After hitting applied, my elite keyboard started working without even putting a pass code! YES! THANKS Yawp73!  I really hope that it works for everyone because this question drove me INSANE!   I get the error "this operation requires an interactive window station" during the installation driver for a new (working) Microsoft Wired Keyboard 600. I tried to disable my Avast! anti-virus program entirely to restart my system in selective mode with only Windows running programs to install the keyboard. None worked.

  The selective mode does not work. And Device Manager shows the device with the yellow triangle icon. With the code 28 error. "This operation requires an interactive window station.

  I'm using Windows Vista Home Premium (32 bit)

  Also the comfort curve keyboard 2000 from Microsoft that was previously used with this system can no longer install into any usb port. It only works in the USB port it was previously installed.   Hi, I had problems with my laptop's built-in keyboard (keys type anything or type more letters), so I bought a wired keyboard 600 and it connected via USB. The keyboard has a major problem, however. He can't use that one key at a time - so, for example, I can't use shift and 1 to an exclamation point. If I try, nothing happens. I can type 1 or I can use the SHIFT key on my laptop keyboard and 1 on my USB keyboard (I had to type those hooks on the built-in keyboard).   I just connected a Microsoft Sidewinder x 4 keyboard in Vista after installing Intellitype 7.1.  The Microsoft Keyboard program continues to show an old "Wireless Desktop Elite Keyboard' as a default. I changed the Sidewinder keyboard, but as soon as I click OK in the Microsoft Keyboard window, it restores the old wireless keyboard (is no longer attached) when I opened the window. I uninstalled all the keyboards in the Device Manager and rebooted Vista.  I have also uninstalled and reinstalled Intellitype with no luck. Can someone help? Thank you.

  Yep, a clean install would do :-)

  A test, I plugged my X 4 my laptop Win7. He found as a "composite input device", but the bank lights do not come, so I guess that it relies on the software to make them work. I didn't install Intellitype, so I still think there is a problem with the installation of the software on your computer. You can download and install Revo Uninstaller, I have mentioned earlier, it allows to eliminate all traces of Intellitype, reboot, and reinstall. I think that even without the software installed, there will be always an HID input device listed in Device Manager, but not two. If I had the PC here, I would like to try it, but I'm in no hurry for the time or anything since I am retired :-)

  As I'm not a touch typist there are only so many letters that I remember when the keys are empty! I don't understand this at all. It is obviously not a technical problem, but it is a problem and that microsoft should be aware of and try to remedy.
