Migrate ReadyNAS to ReadyNAS 516 314

Hello

I'm looking to migrate my 4 discs of my ReadyNAS 314 with the purchase of a new 516 ReadyNAS.

Can someone give me instructions step by step on what I have to do to pass?

Will my app structure remain intact, Plex Media Server, SickRage etc., or do I have to re - install these applications?

It is as easy as to 4 existing disks one by one the 516 ReadyNAS and everything will be exactly as it was? It would be great!

All advice is appreciated.

Thank you!

Hello. Yes, it's as simple as that. All data, but also settings are stored on the hard drives.
Then...
(1) judgment of the RN314
(2) leave the RN516 closure
(3) move the hard disks in the RN314 in RN516
(4) to start the RN516
That's all.

In some situations, it is good to ensure that the firmware stored on the NAS new flash is updated by a factory disk work default and update the firmware before you proceed with the migration.
If you want to:
(1) let alone the RN314
(2) insert a temporary HARD disk in the RN516 (it will wipe)
(3) use the start menu to perform a factory on the RN516
(4) once the RN516 is running, access the GUI and update the firmware
(5) once the firmware is updated, the RN516 stop
(6) stop the RN314
(7) remove the temporary HARD disk to RN516
(8) move the hard disks in the RN314 in the RN516
(9) to start the RN516

    Hello
Yesterday I turned off manually the ReadyNAS: a work of electric power maintenance was expected in the afternoon. My plan was to turn it on this morning, but the readynas was running since late yesterday.
So I assumed that the system is configured for implementing running automatic on after power failure.
My question is: there is a way to configure it to power on manually after the restoration of electric power?

  • AD connection lost after updating to 6.5.0 on Readynas 516 #26926627

    Hello

After the update of my Readynas firmware 6.5.0 516 - T338 to final 6.5.0 release, I get message "cannot synchronize the account information of ADS for the Kingdom."

In the past, there was no question about the integration of advertising and even the import of accounts AD worked without any problems.

For now, the unit is impossible to import AD accounts while account caching is enabled. If chaching account is disabled, I am able to see the AD users in the accounts on the device overview.

Unfortunately, even if the AD accounts are visible (with chaching disabled account), the folders are not accessible from windows. Even a domain administrator cannot access folders or update the security settings.

I already tried to join the AD, checked NTP settings on sync problems and tried a restore to 6.5.0 - T338 without a bit of luck.

How can I solve this problem?

    Best regards

    Dirk

DirkG, please do more work 6.5.0 beta firmware. We are very limited in what we can do to help you if you stay on this here and support will not be able to help with this firmware. Please update back to the 6.5.0 production version and open a socket file support, attach your logs on this case and let us know the number of cases. Thank you.

When users encounter this problem and do things to try to fix it themselves we lose the ability to get information that would identify the root cause of the problem (it is much more difficult to try to find a common cause which could lead to a fix in a future firmware version if necessary).

  • ReadyNAS 516 ReadyCLOUD download problem

I've been a Mac guy for many years, but I'm old laptop Dell my girlfriend of borrowing and tries to download files from the ReadyNAS. They seem to download very well, but when I look at Windows Explorer in any downloaded file shows as about 1 KB (bytes 293, 296 bytes, 303 bytes, etc..)

The Dell is running WIndows 7 Ultimate and I'm connected to a Starbucks. All other sites seem to load correctly.

Is this a problem with the laptop to Windows? In the last days, I was able to upload and download files Word of this laptop without problem.

Oh, and the NAS running 6.5.1.

    Thank you.

I just upgraded to 6.5.2. It seems to have done the trick.

    Thank you for your help.

  • Import volumes exported to Readynas 516 s with OS 6.5.1

Need help to import my exported volumes? I tried all of the suggestions I've read on here. I even looked in the manual and found nothing... The only thing I have not tried is reinstalling OS, it's something I can do myself in the start menu, or do I helps me to do it for me because they have more stuff than the standard way? I exported volumes for two 516 s identical so I could trade all hard drives between them. The volume on one was empty and the other has years of data. The two volumes are set up in raid x-raid 6 with a single volume that spans all six readers... Maybe this feature should be disabled if it is if unreliable and not important enough to be well documented... This easy solution for my situation has turned into a very bad... Any help is appreciated...

Called Netgear helps make my 'import of cold' on my volume of 'Export' ed. Only took them lees 30 seconds to adjust any setting to fix. It does not involve reinstalling the operating system as someone else had alluded. I asked the person to explain what he was doing, but they only told me that he was not a solution simple and left. Sorry I can't share how to solve this problem, if anyone else ever gets in this similar situation... I recommend not to use the export function until someone to Netgear decides to will contact it better than just pop up when you click the export function...

  • Upgrade Media Server Logitech

My ReadyNAS 516 runs 6.4.1 - T21 (beta version). The Logitech Media Server App that I do turn has version 1.06 and is maintained by chick I think. The interface Logitech Media Server tells me that there is an update.

And that's probably true. 7.7.3-based version 1.06 chick version of Logitech. I can download the 7.7.5 version for Debian, but I don't think it's a wise thing to do. Not sure if it will install anyway.

What is the way to go on this? Just wait for chick?

This package is maintained at all?

In a similar case, I wanted to update the Plex server software that I could just download the site of Plex.

Logitech has stopped support for the 'new' line of ReadyNASses and which is the reason that chick was for renovation/rebuild the software?

Okay, found _some_ answers to my own questions on here.

I installed packages from the command line using 'dpkg-i'.

First, I ran into a problem with leafp2p package, but the addition of article initV of the start-stop as mentioned here does the trick for this.

When you try to install lms_1.0.8_all.deb I received warnings that /lib/ld-linux.so.2 was about to be crushed (!)

Somehow chick put this file in the LMS package, although it is also in the libc6-i386 package. Maybe I don't have knowledge, but put me these types of files in your own package is not very wise.

    I did this:

    root@truck/root # he's /lib/ld-linux.so.2
    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 20 Feb 6 2015 /lib/ld-linux.so.2--> /lib32/ld-linux.so.2*
    root@truck/root # he's /lib32/ld-linux.so.2
    lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 Feb 6 /lib32/ld-linux.so.2 2015-> ld - 2.19.so *.
    root@truck/root # he's /lib32/ld-2.19.so
    -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 134308 Feb 6 /lib32/ld-2.19.so* 2015

and /lib32/ld-2.19.so copied to a safe place, just in case where symbolic links were followed by dpkg. (I'm not too familiar with Debian)

Installed lms_1.0.8_all.deb with 'dpkg--force - overwrite - i' and restore the original situation afterwards (symbolic links were not followed)

    root@truck/root # cd/lib
    root@truck/lib # mv ld - linux.so.2 ld - linux_lms_1.0.8.so.2
    root@truck/lib # ln s /lib32/ld-linux.so.2 ld - linux.so.2
    root@truck/lib #.

The Logitech Media Server was showing again after these actions. Telling me the version was 1.0.8 on the ReadyNAS interface. Telling me it is 7.8.1 on the Logitech Media Server interface on port 9000.

  • Failover?

We have two of the ReadyNAS 516 on the same local network. We replace a Windows 2008 Server.

We want to have the primary NAS for storage and the 2nd as a backup (really as a failover - and we know it will be manual).

How can quickly raise us the 2nd unit as principal in the case of a total absence of the primary?

We have Setup with ReadyNAS Replicate, but it sounds like a backup and the restore process takes some time.

We have created this using RSYNC for each action to be run automatically every hour. If the head nurse fails and is no longer on the network, we substitute the same name as the primary name and restart.

User accounts and passwords do not have to be restored.

Once the secondary NAS runs with the name of the principal, the users can connect by using the same mappings. If the password is different, they will have to connect again.

We should not change the IP address. Just be care when if you mention the original SIN that the two devices is not the same name.

  • Used ReadyNAS 314 - Mainboard RMA

    Hello

I just bought a 314 ReadyNAS opportunity that seems to have two ethernet ports defective, everything works fine. Apparently these ports stopped working after update from 6.2.0 to 6.2.4, but more to upgrade to 6.4.1 does not solve the problem. As much as I know there is no right for the owner of a ReadyNAS used to 5 years warranty the material which, in theory, would still be applicable to customer first. Is it possible to get an RMA number or buying a new mother for this unit directly from Netgear card?

About the State of the material in my unit: it starts all the beautiful but has no IP via DHCP address assignment, to check if it could be a driver / software on the issue: I started a Windows 10 train directly inserted SSD. It starts very well, except for the two ethernet ports that are not found even in windows. Although I find that a little odd that only two ethernet jacks should be dead while USB3, esata and so now all work fine, my only possible explanation is a faulty motherboard.

Other suggestions are very appreciated. As a last resort I could still run the material with OMV and a USB-Ethernet adapter, but I strongly keep me the original OS, recognizing the two network cards.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello Simon_01,

    Welcome to the community!

Excuse me, but the guarantee will be granted only to the registered owner of the unit who has purchased the product from an authorized reseller. Pre-new/2nd hand units have no guarantee because they are considered to be renovated units.

NETGEAR sells all the internal components of the chassis ReadyNAS not only the warranty of the product, but also he is not taken in charge of NETGEAR. If you want to open the NAS and the replacement of its components, it may be a chance to members of the community you answer here, but it may take some time.

    Kind regards

  • ReadyNAS 104 to 314 #26833764

    Hiya

I have a readynas 104 with 6 TB drives in there, I want to move to a readynas 314 to be able to use the maximum storage space

Can I just slide my readers of the 104 in the 314 and not lose my data?

    Thank you

Looking at your case looks like has already set and the remains to have PHP installed at one time was the problem.

  • ReadyNas 314, impossible to access via Windows Explorer

Have spend the last 3 hours trying to find a solution on other posts, but nothing helps.

Novice at most, so when you can, please explain as I am 5.

I have a new 4-Bay ReadyNAS and installed 4 new 4 TB drives. Currently connected to the router by ethernet.

I use a Plex server on my PC. I store all my media on an external drive. I moved all my multimedia elements from the outside to the NAS.

However, the last step is to map the NAS server to the letter of the drive that was older externally. For the life of me, I can't do it. I connected the NAS to your PC via ethernet, but when I try and click on the NAS, it says that it cannot access. I tried to do a variety of solutions, but none have worked so far. Quite possible I'm not on the right, and it's a simple solution.

Please let me know what you all need additional details. I am really puzzled.

Finally found the solution. I had to go to my Windows credentials manager and add my NAS server out there. Thank you!
