Migration cold trip via lan or san?

Assuming that VM moves to the data store CF on the same host or different host with the same access to FC storage shared... migration cold trip via lan or FC san?

If you change data on the same host warehouses, data are transferred through HBA.  If changing hosts but vm location does not change, it changes just the host on which the virtual computer is marked (e) on.  If you change hosts and data warehouses, it goes on network.

  • Printer sharing via LAN - EPSON XP-335

    Hello

    We use 3 Macs connected via LAN (Ethernet, we do not use Wi - Fi).

    I have connected an EPSON XP-335 via USB to Mac #1, and it prints fine.

    On all Macs, I installed the software EPSON printing and active "Sharing printers", via preferences > sharing.

    but when I try to print from Mac #2 or #3 I get this message "not connected":

    What should I do?

    Thank you very much.

    Hi coxorange,

    Please use the Apple Support communities for help. From your post, I understand that you are unable to access the printer that is connected to one of your iMac, others in the House. I know it's nice to be able to print from all of your devices, so I'm happy to help you to provide advice for this.

    From the information you provided, it seems that there is some confusion about the way the printer is shared on your devices. In order to have a shared printer, you must only share from the computer to which it is connected. From there, you can connect to this printer with other computers. Perform these steps on the iMac to which it is attached:

    How to share a printer:

    1. Open sharing preferences if it is not already open (choose Apple menu > System Preferences and click Sharing), then check the box print sharing.

    2. Under printers, select the printer you want to share.

      When you share a printer, all users on your network ("everyone") can use by default. If you want to restrict access to specific people, go to steps 3 and 4.

    3. Click on the button Add at the bottom of the users list, and then do one of the following:

      • Select a user in users and groups, that includes all your Mac users.

      • Select a user from the network or users groups network, which includes everyone on your network.

      • Select a person in your contacts. Create a password for the person, then click on create an account.

    4. When you add people to the list of users, access to the shared printer is reset to no access for the users of your network ("everyone"). To provide access to everyone again, click the triangles, then choose can print.

    Once the printer is shared, you'll want to implement on your other computers. Check out the second section of this article, titled "Add a Wi - Fi or network printer":

  • Issue of Migration cold very Simple...

    Hey guys,.

    I'm relatively new to VMWare, infact, I take the vcp - 310 exam tomorrow, lucky me!  In any case, I have a very simple question, basically I can't find all the information on how to do a migration cold or in fact if it is the right solution to my problem.  I rebuilt my server ESX (3.5) and kept the VMFS volume local orginal up thanks to its VMs located on it.  Now, I want to attach them to the newly installed ESX, I can easily create new ones and add the drive but that is not the same, for example will be difference NVRAM, VMX, etc. files.  Is "cold migration" what I'm looking for?  Or is there another way I can fix this?

    Thanks in advance for your help.

    See you soon

    Neilos

    witch hunt... Just find the data store in which the virtual machine is on, browse this data store, find the virtual computers folder and inside you will see a .vmx file.  Right click on that and choose 'Add to inventory' and follow the prompts.

  • Make pseudo migration cold with free ESXi 3.5 VI Client?

    Even if I used VMware products for years (Workstation, Server), I'm still pretty new to ESXi.  I started using the free ESXi with the idea to be able to live migration between ESXi hosts.  However, I then discovered that you can't do vMotion with free stuff.  No biggie; I probably don't need it anyway.  All I really need is the ability to move virtual machines between ESXi hosts.  I'd settle for migration cold.  However, after reading the article on migration in the basic manual Admin, it seems I have to use Virtual Center to be able to do.  Am I wrong?  And I'll take it, Virtual Center is not a free download.

    But do I really need to Virtual Center to move virtual machines between ESXi hosts?  It seems to me that I could just use VI client to do a migration of the nickname 'cold '.  Is there something wrong with the following scenario:

    1. all VM files are kept on a central NFS server.

    2. I stopped the VM on HostA.

    3. Add the virtual machine to host b inventory.

    4 remove the virtual machine from the inventory of the HostA.

    5. I turn the VMS on host b.

    Of course, this is not automatic and not stupid, but it's free so I can't complain.

    Thanks in advance for any information or advice you can give me.

    No, and that's all a 'cold' vmotion is anyway...

    Take a look at this http://communities.vmware.com/docs/DOC-9400 (ghettoQuickMigrate.sh) (free vmotion)

  • Migration of data to assist based SAN store

    Hey guys,.

    We have two esx servers. ESX1 and ESX2.

    ESX1 is autonomous, while ESX2 is with a SAN (connected to the HBA fibre channel)

    I am now loading on ESX1 vcenter, once this is done, I want to move the VM ESX1 the ESX2 server machine, BUT this time it should reside in the SAN logical unit number.

    I know that I can't move without interruption because they have not San already, so I'll have to cold migrate virtual machine to esx2 esx1 but is it the same as usage of vconverter? Also if I migrate can I ask vcenter to load the machine in the logical unit number of the san and not on the esx2 data store?

    Please help, I really need to get the VMs on the San and not having to build them from scratch once again.

    Thank you

    RJ

    We will all live a virtual life...

    OK

    The fact that you are directly connected to the San, and you can see the LUN in the section maps storage equates not once he is able to do something with this LUN.

    You must go to the STORAGE (should not be confused with storage adapters) and add it to your server AGAIN.

    When asked if the physical storage disk/LUN or connected to the network, you select disk physics/LUN. You will be presented a list of LUN storage adapters can see (including this LUN you're talking 200 GB)... Select it by clicking on it. Then, you will be asked to select the size of the block... I would recommend selecting 1 Mb. Then, you will be asked to give it a name (something like Datastore1_From_SAN works well) and then the server create a VMFS partition on it. Virtual machines LIVE in a VMFS partition - without one on this SAN LUNS, you will not be able to migrate your VM to it

    It will then appear in the tab for data warehouses (according to my pic) on the summary page of your server and appears in the page of DATA storages as well

    Hope this helps

  • HP DesignJet 650 c on Windows 7 x 64 via LAN with JetDirect adapter

    Hello good people!

    I would like to know if a DesignJet 650 c (C2858B) with a JetDirect card can be installed via the LAN on a PC running Windows 7 (64 bit)? If Yes, could someone please advise on how to do it?

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks ~ Tim

    Yes, it's exactly the setup I have (with a JetDirect card installed in the 650 c).  Follow these steps:

    The 650 c and connect it to your router with a LAN cable.  Then, press Enter façade, then arrow down three times to get to, Enter, modular i/o of installation configuration, come in, Cfg network = NO, Enter, arrow for Yes.  At this point theCfg network = NO * reappears, it is normal.  Press previous return to main menu of status.  Then press ENTER, down arrow until you get to the utility, enter, down arrow for plot, Enter Config.  Once the plot ends at halfway in the page search for MIO, the IP address for the plotter configuration information will be available on the right side of the page.

    At this point your plotter is set up and ready, then get the driver installed on your PC.   These drivers work fine for Windows 7 x 74 (and also Windows 8 x 64) you can install the XP x 64 drivers as described in this post.

    I used my recovery disc and erased from my computer, because of a virus and now I can't connect to internet via cable but my wireless internet works perfectly.
    Its quite dead there is no lights on the back of the laptop where I plug in the cable.

    Hello

    Your network card is properly recognized in Device Manager?
    In your case, I would try to update the LAN driver. You can get the latest version here:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com > support & downloads > download drivers

    In addition, you check the version of the BIOS. The most recent version must be installed and load default settings here.

    In the worst case, it s only a hardware problem and must exchange the motherboard together :(

  • Yokogawa wt3000 via LAN, tmctl.dll

    Hello my dear all,.

    in our project, we must control yokogawa wt3000 with LabVIEW. We used the driver from the website of yokogawa for the device and it works well through GPIB connection, but not via the LAN. We called the support of Yokogawa and National Instruments and discovered, to use the tmctl.dll library (see 2 files pdf as an attachment).

    I tried (not sure about this. It is correctly?) :

    Tools-> import-> DLL

    Here, I chose the tmctl.dll and tmctl.h files

    and LabView has created a lvlib with several VI (Tmc * *.vi and x TMC * .vi)

    I have a few questions.

    How do I change the source code where I use the 'normal' (for Gbspecifications FOR yokogawa driver) VI

    (I have to do?).

    Can I use the yokogawa driver or do I have to write a new?

    What else do I do?

    If you need more information, let me know.

  • Connection to the meter via LAN without VISA library

    I connect my HP33410A via a LAN cable to my PC using the VISA library. I'll send SCPI commands and everything works OK.

    But my application must also connect without a VISA and for me it's a big problem. I read some information, I have to use the SOCKET connection with the TCP feature.

    Is there a simple way to do this? I was punctuating certain functions in LabWindows supporting TCP protocols and socket. SDK library also support the SOCKET connection, but for me it's black magic

    Could someone post here a code to query a simple as command "* IDN?" in this interface LAN without a VISA?

    I would be grateful

    (Sorry for my English I hope you could understand the problem, I describe )

    I solved the problem. It is more simple than I thought you just have to connect to the TCP server. Earlier, I tried to do that, but with the incorrect port number. I think that for most of the devices Agilent TCP port number is 5025 (I've read that in manual for SOCKET connection)

    I stayed here a piece of code that shows how to establish a connection with the agilent device:

    ConnectToTCPServer (& tcpHandle, 5025, '169.254.4.10', TCP_Handlig_Function, 0, 0);
    ClientTCPWrite (tcpHandle, "* IDN?", 5, 0);

    ClientTCPRead (tcpHandle, buff, 50, 0);

    And that's all you need to do. Is not as simple as that?

  • E4200 comments via LAN network

    I have wireless comments upward and running very well. But I have to also connect to the network to search for the router via one of the ethernet ports. Can I simply specify the LAN-conencted PC a static IP address of 192.168.3.x for access to the network of comments? I guess that there is no feature VLAN...

    And better yet, can I set up a DHCP relationship to this port? So that any device plugged into the port will get an IP address on that subnet? (I doubt that... but thought I would ask.)

    Thank you.

    Update: peripheral connected LAN will indeed not network access to comments 3.x. best way to do it if you want a segment of network private/comments on your LAN that sharing your internet connection is to 3 routers in a configuration of Y.

    Like this:

    Internet <->RouterA WAN

    RouterA LAN<->WAN-RouterB

    RouterA LAN WAN-RouterC<->

    I was able to configure DHCP for all routers. RouterA 192.168.1.0, RouterB 192.168.0.0, RouterC 192.168.2.0. (3.0 is used by the network without comment thread).

    Which is nice in this regard, is that you can put all your public stuff (files, printers, internet connection sharing) on RouterA. B and C are behind their firewall for traffic in them is limited to your firewall rules. Nice, put in place. Funny way to do so, but since these aren't quality professional firewalls and routers, it works very well.

  • Connection of windows 7 and windows xp Via LAN

    I tried to connect my laptop (Windows XP then) Dell and HP desktop (Windows 7 OS) girlfriend. The overall goal is to play Minecraft together via a LAN connection (linking computers with an Ethernet cable) and not have to worry about the speed of the internet or other players.

    That being said, I tried just to connect the two with Ethernet, but my computer wouldn't see his game. (It would be to see mine, but could not connect) So, I tried setting up a WORKING Group (manufacturing name, opening, file sharing, etc.), but now I'm afraid that I've screwed just this respect even more. Previously, both computers said they were connected to something, now my XP said that is "limited or no connectivity." She said "unidentified network"...
    I am now at a loss. If I did something that should NEVER be done, please excuse me. I am trying to self teach here and this is my first real tangle. Help us!
    Thank you.

  • Issue of Migration cold

    When you perform a cold migration when starting from CD you get a prompt that shows "no available network connection. You want to update the settings of the network at this time. "

    My question is when you click Yes, you get the options to statically assign IP, subnet, default gateway, and dns...

    Here - would you enter the IP address of the physical server you are trying to migrate? or would that be a new IP for VMware Converter to connect to the network?

    It depends on the operating system and the type/use of the system (e.g. domain controller, Exchange server,...).

    Basically, you shouldn't ever hot convert a domain controller, because this will usually damage the AD. For Exchange of data bases, etc., you should consider to stop services to have a consistent state without open files.
