Migration strategy

I use now on a late 2009 27 "iMac with OSX 10.10.5. My new iMac 27 "OSX 10.11 arrived on Monday.

I think I want to do a clean installation of applications and preferences. The user account that I have now been migrated permanently and updated since 2005, and I observe many stay preferences and other application library files, that I no longer use. Including this user account starts much slower that the other accounts on the same machine.

I'm quite capable of quickly and efficiently copy the files of the user of a machine for other applications and resettlement. The big question is how to deal with Apple Mail? It seems to me that if I copy the entire folder library/mail to the new machine I have a problem because the mail folder will be in version 10.10, a 10.11 OS.

I have calendar, Contacts and Notes connected with iCloud, I can just sync the new account with iCloud.

Of course, I could upgrade the old machine to 10.11 prior to this operation, but I see this forum which carries a 10.10 to 10.11 update it's own risks.

The valuable comments and suggestions?

It could be (I'm not sure) a little old-fashioned, but it should be useful:

  • New PC - how to iTunes to locate files?

    Hello.  I tried searching this question, I'm sure I'm not the first to have, but I'm coming out of a solution.  I just bought a new laptop.  I have all my iTunes Music and movies stored on an external drive.  How iTunes to see where these files are located so he don't think he has all of the cloud redownload since I already have a copy on my external hard drive?

    You still have the old computer? See Re: transfer old itunes to new worries of computer for a migration strategy proposed if you do.

    If it isn't, you place files on the external hard drive, or the media library? If you have the files in the library then you should be able to start the iTunes update communicate with them on the external hard drive. However, chances are if you did so you wouldn't ask the question now.

    If you don't have the old computer, or the files in the library, I suggest you do a new iTunes library at the root of the drive, then move your support inside the \iTunes\iTunes media before adding it to the library. See make a library of portable split for some information on the correct layout of the library.

    See your iTunes for Windows with SyncToy library backup to make a backup copy of the library on a different drive.

  • How can I determine microsoft product is associated with a string of product?

    I have a Small Business Server 2003.  I need to know as precisely as possible what version of Small Business SERVER 2003, is to develop a plan of Active Directory migration. We want to migrate the announcement of a new server box running Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise.

    Belarc Advisor says it's 'Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition, Small Business Server restricted Service Pack 2 (build 3790)'.  Under license information, it displays the license key and says it's "74995-OEM-4411902-03101"

    Given these clues, can someone tell me what product I. I'd also appreciate comments about the migration strategy.

    Based on the information provided, it could be a Dell SBS R2. However, your question (including migration) is best answered on the Microsoft server forum: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/category/windowsserver/

  • Groups of mobility between...

    Hi experts,

    I am managing WLC 3:

    1 WLC 2112 - code version 7.0.235.0

    2 WLC 2112 - code version 7.0.235.0

    3 - WLC 5508 - version code 7.6.130.0 (new purchase)

    Is possible to group the WLCs 3 in a group of mobility

    No, it is the recommendation of Cisco, but still 7.0 can work with 7.6 in the same mobility group. So you should get these worms upward in the same group of mobility, although this isn't the recommended best practice (but keep a migration strategy to move away of series 21xx).

    Note that you must put all your AP to the same mobility group THAN if the user moves between these APs & you don't want to drop their roaming sessions.

    So if you have APs in various buildings, you have no coverage wireless between the buildings, I worry not put them all in the same mobility group.

    Identify the geographical area where AP are close & customers wander in, put them on a group of mobility.

    Hope this clarify your query.

  • GG for Sqlserver 2012

    Hi all

    I want to replicate SQL Server 2012 tables to Oracle 11 g. This version is supported?

    Where can I find docs for this activity?

    Thank you very much

    zxy

    The migration strategy would be the same for SQL Server 2008 as in SQL Server 2005, at least regarding GoldenGate's. The version of Oracle GoldenGate is the same for SQL Server 2005 and SQL Server 2008. There may be some differences between 2005 and 2008 Setup according to your environment. I suggest that you take a look at the tutorials for the Capture of SQL Server for examples of how to configure the Capture process. The tutorials are also found in the section getting started with this OTN GoldenGate page.

    What is the best strategy to migrate data from Windows to one Mac to another? I use Parallels Desktop to run Windows on my current Mac but want to use Bootcamp on my new.

    If it is only the data (not apps) I use Dropbox. It turned out to be the best way to move things between the side Mac and the bootcamped Windows of my iMac side. I don't see why it would not work to move data from a virtual machine installation of Win to a BootCamp installation.

  • Migration of es300 to device of esVMWARE

    Good afternoon.  We're upgrading a hard appliance to SonicWALL es300 virtual messaging security appliance.  I have the AV installed on our network of LABORATORIES currently.  A problem is that to restore all the settings/names must match and we are unable to do it on the laboratory.  I did a complete to the top of the production apparatus, then went through each entry (Yes, it was as much fun as it sounds) and changed the names/parameters so that it would correspond to the LAB name and parameters.

    However, after I restored the settings, Junk box, archives, reports, the only thing that seems imported are dictionaries.  There is no date in the archives, no junk mail box or no report parameter info or settings imported.  More importantly, there are no filters.

    I guess if I have to, I can do without the parameters, but I would really like to be able to import existing filters that we have configured.  We have a lot of complex filters long this link in another unit of ORGANIZATION and dictionaries to allow different users send or receive various e-mail or attachments.

    Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get the filters and if possible the undesirable elements, the archives and the report and settings migrate to the new appliance.

    Thank you!

    Hi Dean,

    The all must have the host name even in order to import the backup files.

    If it's just the strategy filters that are not displayed, it seems the file may be damaged. (it probably can be fixed)

    I open a Web folder and attach a copy of your backup and ask if a technician can review explaining the same information you have here.

    There are a lot of files inside backups that contain information about the host name and if not the same may not be present.

    Would have been the right way to get the operational VM with no parameters of first.

    If you can then rename the old device, after getting backups (each article separately) from the user interface, then rename your VM to match the old appliance as well as the IP address if possible. (IP is not necessary).

    Once it is up and the correct name import your backup settings and the other one at a time, separately.

  • Migrate a report without objects definition

    I created a project with a folder and some PeopleCode custom and migrated to an instance of the target. I would like to have a "back-out" and I was under the impression that if the project was transferred from the source to target only the definition of the project with the items unchecked, it would actually remove the custom changes, but this did not

    What Miss me?

    In this case, the deletion of objects of the project won't achieve something. Technically, a project is a pointer to the object it contains. Deletion of objects from a project removes only the pointer, the object remains in the target. I just mentioned that in order to understand.

    If you look at a strategy to manage your migration and want a foolproof approach then you might want to consider looking at products such as PHIRE and Stat. PHIRE is relatively expensive and very high benefits. So I highly recommend because I am an active user of myself.

    There is no way of delivery (app/tool) to manage these events rewritten. Once migrated, you will need to find the way to re - migrate the code to undo the changes.

    You could take backups (using copy a project to file option) all existing objects will be modified in the target before the migration. If you want rewritten changes, then you can just apply the backup project.

    In what concerns the Elimination of new migrated objects as part of the project that are no longer needed in the target, you can re - migrate a project from source to the target with the objects (which should be deleted) and set the Action in the tab upgrade "Delete."

    Hope that gives you some ideas.

    Want to migrate the database (4node RAC) 4 TB size of 10.2.0.5(8 rompt = 4 prim/4 veille) to 11.2.0.4 on the new servers where the new type servers Primary (4 nodes) and Eve (4 nodes).  So with minimum downtime I have restore and recover again on 11.2.0.4 server must then clone that to create the day before.   Here, my question is can I take 0 backupp level before hand and restore on target (new) then primary at the time to leave the downtime take backup of level 1 of 10g and then retrieve it on 11g (new server) after successful recovery I'll perform clone to form eve of database on the new server. does this strategy work? If it works, can someone suggest me steps how can I need recover with backup after restoring the backup of level 0 on 11g. Like should I upgrade before you retrieve it with level 1 backup or I can update and then recover with the level 1 backup from the old server to the new server.

    6. TOGETHER until lastavailable SNA / Archivelog + 1

    7 RECOVER DATABASE (should automatically identify the L1s and to apply ArchiveLogs)

  • Web Service security settings of 10g and 11g Migration

    We will migrate a complete Application of the ADF from 10g to 11g. We got all this work, but the web services. It seems that we learned the work of web services, but the security settings for the web service are very different and I have difficulties to make them work.

    For example, we have a customer's web service that has a X 509 certificate for authentication. We use the WSS 1.0 safety and I chose in the Configuration of the customer strategy: "oracle/wss10_x509_token_with_message_protection_client_policy and in 'Select credentials', I use https identification information."

    However, I get the following error when I try to use the web service pointing to the customer: Note: I also detached the client and deleted the credentials and get a SIMILAR error.

    < javax.xml.ws.soap.SOAPFaultException: WS-Security treat failure: FAULT CODE: InvalidSecurity MESSAGE of ERROR: header missing WS Security in the SOAP message >

    < to com.sun.xml.ws.fault.SOAP11Fault.getProtocolException(SOAP11Fault.java:197) >

    < to com.sun.xml.ws.fault.SOAPFaultBuilder.createException(SOAPFaultBuilder.java:122) >

    < to com.sun.xml.ws.client.sei.SEIStub.invoke(SEIStub.java:136) >

    So any that I have attached a customer or have not a joint, I get the same error. An idea that I am wrong?

    Thank you

    Okay, figured it out. I had to use ClientConstants to set the web strategy and set the OWSM political Director to use the appropriate strategy.

    The ClientConstants code is:

    SecurityPoliciesFeature = securityFeatures

    New SecurityPoliciesFeature (new String() {"oracle/wss10_x509_token"});

    In InboundOutbound_Service = new InboundOutbound_Service();

    InboundOutbound svc = in.getInboundOutboundPort (securityFeatures);

    String urlLn = this.getURL ('url');

    BindingProvider bp = svc (BindingProvider);

    Card reqContext = bp.getRequestContext ();

    reqContext.put (BindingProvider.ENDPOINT_ADDRESS_PROPERTY, urlLn);

    reqContext.put (ClientConstants.WSSEC_KEYSTORE_TYPE, "JKS");

    reqContext.put (ClientConstants.WSSEC_KEYSTORE_LOCATION, "web.jks");

    reqContext.put (ClientConstants.WSSEC_KEYSTORE_PASSWORD, "pw");

    reqContext.put (ClientConstants.WSSEC_ENC_KEY_ALIAS, "keyalias");

    reqContext.put (ClientConstants.WSSEC_ENC_KEY_PASSWORD, "pw");

    reqContext.put (ClientConstants.WSSEC_SIG_KEY_ALIAS, "keyalias");

    Hello

    We intend to migrate from the data center to the new location. The new data center already have the hardware. We must move the dump data and upgrade the database. Our database most are on Oracle

    10g solar UNIX and the new material is on Oracle 11.2.0.4 with Linux (Oracle or Redhat Linux). Do the following activity:

    (1) taking the export on the basis of existing data.

    (2) move the dump of the export to the new location, as well as archived data that is stored in the Ribbon. (this is where a suggestion required more about different ways to do it).

    (3) import and the upgrade of the database in the new location.

    Might suggest a certain to please the strategy and useful tool which, for this activity.

    You should move all the 100 + databases in a window of 48 hours with datapump? It is a command

    What is the capacity of the network (i.e. How fat is the pipe) between the two locations and how pieces are? As a general rule, there should be no loss of data or corruption during the transfer of files over a network. The time required for move/upgrade a database of 300G can only be determined by performing a test upgrade that looks close in the middle of production.

  • Need help: vSphere 4.1 old cluster to a migration 5.1 new cluster

    Need help!

    Well, we need to replace the old vmware 4.1 (3 former hosts in cluster) with the most recent output 5.1 (3 new hosts in cluster).

    We have 3 DAS old_hosts connected to the SAN HP P2000 G3 FC (we have only a single SAN who has 2 active FC ctrl with FC port 2 each - if only one FC port is free).

    As the new material is very different (1 Xeon E5335 2 GHz for every former host) and 2 Xeon E5 - 2630 2.30 GHz for each new host I'm not so sure be allowed to add new_host to the old cluster, not you?

    If this is the case, that is the best strategy to run a migration as possible interruption less?

    Anyone can suggest me what logical steps, we need to achieve our goal?

    (b) create new cluster with EVC mode enable (based on the old family)

    so, I don't do any CVS operation on the old cluster?    Y/N

    Nothing changes in the old cluster and other Word is YES! operation of EVC.

    (d) to migrate all your virtual machines in esx old new host esx (with sufficient resources)

    When I see in my inventory vcenter the old and the new cluster in order to migrate a virtual machine between them that I have to drag and drop the virtual machine on the label of the new cluster name? It is enough, or there is another way to do this?

    Yes, you can drag and drop again cluster or you may use the Migration Wizard to migrate the virtual machines. Both way can be works.

    When I have all the virtual machines in the new cluster, the situation is:

    -cluster hosts are running in VCA mode

    -VMs are run in EVC mode

    so if I now turn off the CVS mode on the cluster hosts automatically will work with all the features of the CPU or they should be stop/start?

    VCA mode cannot be disabled for virtual machines operating in EVC mode. If you want to disable, you must stop your virtual machines before first VCA mode off.

    FYI, the VCA mode is for mixed with different hosts of the family of processors, but in your case, the VCA mode is you help to minimize downtime and the planning of your downtime for virtual machines. If you don't want to use the old family processor, then you must turn off your VM and migrate to new hosts. So in this case, you have no need to allow the VCA. This CVS is you help migrate live Webcam virtual machine to the new family of processor host without downtime. Because virtual machines live runs on the cpuID of processor mode the lowest.

    If you want to disable the VCA mode on the cluster, you need to do that there is no VMs is under tension. Because to the VCA ID CPU mode will change.
