Migration system on the 4 k-sector HARD disk

My original 512-byte sector hard disk could not pass the SMART test, so I decided to change it. Bought a new one 2 to HARD drive. But then I discovered that there is a problem cloning partitions to my new drive, because it has the size of sector 4 k.  Is it possible to migrate the system to the new drive? If so could you explain please what I need to do? I'm not really experianced in this case.

My HP desktop computer is slimline, so I could find the opportunity only one connection - via USB interface (if it is of some importance).

It is unlikely that you will be able to use your media from HP recovery with a hard drive of the Advanced Format (AF). Of your PC desktop, HP Pavilion Slimline s5380sc support page;

    Hello

Well, I can now use access HARD drive? In the affirmative, please try this:

Otherwise, just replace the HARD drive and use the old HDD as a external HARD drive and you MAY BE able to recover data files from there.

    Good luck.

  • How to share the root of a hard disk in Win7?

I am able to share a folder, but cannot share the root of a hard disk. Homegroup is off.  In addition, even if I have the password to 'OFF' I always get invited to do since the XP computers on the network, but not Vista computers. Weird?

Win7 computers have full access to the C:\ root on Vista and XP in network of machines. But on computers Win7 the C:\ root is blocked. How to open readers for full access. I worked with permissions in fsmgmt.msc without a bit of luck. What is going on. It is not that difficult.

I have several hardrives with hundreds of directories and must share each individually. There must be a way around this?

Why everyone does not assume that the implications of the root of a drive of sharing are unknown. I get it. I Armi it. But, Yes... I want to share the root of my records. It's like a big giant microsoft diaclaimer whenever I hear it.

So I thought to it. Finally!

OK, that's the problem with Windows 7: I had possession of the disk on the local computer (by default), but this is not enough. I had to give "everyone" the drive to another computer to access property. That means logging in inspired by the network from another machine to Win7 computer, you property as "everyone" and therefore, the authorization to access the drive.

So, here is what I did. Right-click on the hard drive from windows Explorer. Go to properties. Click Security. Click on change. "Everyone" add to the Group and the permissions you want. Then, go to sharing and share the drive as you normally would. The root of the drive will be accessible on the network.

I understand it now, but it is poorly explained in documents I've read. I spent hours of research on this and cannot understand why MS makes it so hard to share a drive on a network. Totally absurd.

I hope this helps others trying to do the same thing. In a small home network, it is very common need to share multiple disks in the root of c:\.

  • Help to find the driver on the Satellite A200 (PSAE6) HARD disk controller

Greetings. This text has been written through a translation program, to try to understand :)

    Problem:
My friend bought a few days back to herself TOSHIBA Satellite A200 (PSAE6) where it has been established operating system Windows Vista Home. He asked me to change OS on Windows XP Pro. With the first problem I have consulted - have deleted Vista, but to set up XP is not possible due to the absence of the HARD disk controller driver in the OS distribution kit. Windows Installer cannot find the HARD drive. I read that it is necessary to load the driver during Setup, press the F6 key. But a problem I can't find the driver in that.

We have no disk with drivers that should go with a computer and therefore it is necessary to search independently on the Internet. On the Toshiba site to locate the pilot, it was not possible. Then I came to the Intel site and download "RAID/AHCI - Intel® Matrix Storage Manager» After unpacking I got only «infinst_autol.exe» archive

    Question:
Where can I download this driver (not a "EXE" format) that can be used during the installation of Windows XP?
    PS: a chipset - Intel PM965 Express

  • Changed the original after imaging HARD disk but can get Windows 7 valid

A SONY VIAO bought in 2010 with a 500 GB hard drive. Started to get those bad guys, messages "imminent HARD drive failure" has created an image using Acronys on a new hard drive of 1 t and traded in. Everything went well until I started getting messages "your computer is not running genuine Windows" (rror code 0xc8000247).  Did all the research, including the call the MS Product Activation Center and the robo-man to give the key that came. Robo-man returned and says invalid key, back to the drawing board (buy W7 for $108, backup all data and programs, install and rebuild the contents of the hard drive). SONY said that they would not help me because I had replaced the hard disk provided with the system. Even though it was about to fail, I should put it back in and call to hide...

So now what should I do?  I have the product key (from the label under the system), the Windows ID of the information system...

The common cause for these mismatches is a defective Intel Rapid Storage Tech driver

  • Satellite U405D-S2874: Question on the potential problem of hard disk

Trying to fix a Satellite U405D-S2874 for a friend.
As a first step, that it won't turn. Once I have re-seated hard drive, it turned on and starts very well.

However, he still intermittently will not be powered from a power off State. I get a few indicators as power, load, etc., but at least I see Satellite logo light up, I know that it won't start/turn on fully and I get nothing on the screen.

What is a problem with the hard drive, or the connection of drive hard, or...? I was wondering if we buy a new hard drive online, that will fix the problem.

    Thank you

    > What is a problem with the hard drive, or the connection of drive hard, or...? I was wondering if we buy a new hard drive online, that will fix the problem

I put t think that this problem could be linked to the defective HARD drive.
Usually, the laptop must be able to turn on and the BIOS splash screen should be visible even if the HARD disk is defective.

Moreover in most cases a message or underscore flashing appears on the screen if the HARD drive is malfunctioning

However, it is possible to check the status of the HARD drive.
Download the tool called Drive Fitness Test and test the HARD drive by using this software.
If some errors would be detected, then you must replace the HARD drive.

But if the HARD drive is ok, then I would recommend checking the RAM modules first.
Test the laptop with a test module. Try the two slots.

If it would not help you, then a motherboard must be verified but generally it is a work of a technician for laptop

  • On the Satellite C - Windows HARD disk failure has detected a HARD disk problem

Since 2 days have been making repeated dialog "Windows detected a hard disk problem", warning of potential failures of the disc so back up, what I did. Disk in question is a Toshiba MK-5065GSXN.

As a non-tech user, my instinct is that a new laptop is a better choice than to call Toshiba support for a laptop warranty (2 years) out of.

On the other hand there may be a simple software fix. The opinion or advice welcome

    Hello

The message says that something is wrong with the HARD drive.
It might be possible that your HARD drive will die sooner or later so his need to backup data on another HARD drive, disk or flash memory.

Finally, I must say you n don't need to buy a new laptop just because your HARD drive starts to hurt work in such cases purchase a new HARD drive and replace it
HARD drive is not very expensive and the replacement of the HARD disk is very easy in your user manual

PS: what model of laptop you have exactly?

  • How to specify the file of virtual hard disk when you create a new virtual machine using virtual hard disk on the data store?

I'm new to PowerCLI and find quite simple, but in the documentation I read, I don't see how to use a virtual hard drive, existing on a data store when you create a new virtual machine.

Is this simple registration on the virtual hard disk, or did I miss something?

My current create VM is the following statement:

    New-VM

    -Name $TargetHostName -host $TargetVMCenterHost -data store $TargetVMCenterDatastore DiskMB - 20000 -MemoryMB $TargetHostMemoryMB -NumCPU $TargetHostCPUs -ID $TargetHostOS -CD -Description $TargetHostName

Didn't notice this before, but I think that vSphere will use a backslash instead of a slash in the paths.

  • Increase the size of virtual hard disk to a virtual computer with snapshots

Is it possible to increase the size of a virtual hard disk on a virtual machine that has snapshots on this subject?  I can use VMware converter to increase the size of the disk, but who commits snapshots during the conversion-

    Thank you

As everybody said that it is not a good idea to increase the space for a VM with a snapshot.   The snapshot files are all related originally vmdk and when you change this vmdk he breaks the link.

A particular reason that you cannot commit the snapshot before adding the space.

You will need to take ownership of the files if you do not have permission to copy files. You need to do when running Windows Explorer as an administrator.
