  • SKIP Procotol and Protocol-groups of objects

    Hello all, there

We are trying to migrate from Checkpoint to PIX on 7.0.4. Hit a bit of a problem:

PIX allows the creation of groups of objects of different types. I am trying to create a group (called "test-group"), and it must contain the protocols I need it. Here is the ah, esp, and SKIP.

However, only ah and esp are present. Is it possible to create JUMP?

    Any help much appreciated.

    Kind regards

    Gary

I think that you should use the protocol number (57?):

    the object-group Protocol test

  • I've migrated the FF settings to a new PC and no external link now opens

A few days I received my new PC and migrate all important data of the former using a special tool to W8. I also installed Thunderbird and FF anew and migrated their setting using the tools recommended here (FF + MozBackup Sync). And all of a sudden I lost the ability to open any external link in FF now regardless of the source (Thunderbird or any other piece of software). Now, I have to copy and paste the URL manually. It is not the best solution. Old PC OS: Vista Business, new PC operating system: W8.1. Thanks in advance.

Hi people, I got tired of manually entering the URL addresses and decided to go back a few steps. So I uninstalled about half of the programs installed (including FF and Thunderbird) and reinstalled them again. And now everything works as expected. It's a kind of magic for me. In any case thank you for your advice, even copy - paste.

  • Ping inside the interface on a Pix 501 from outside the network

    All the

I have a Pix 501 firewall at a remote site with an IPSEC tunnel established at HQ. We have an analysis tool which remote sites for us let proactively pings know when a site crashes. I want to set up this ping the inside interface of the Pix tool as I can with 871 routers; However I can't configure the Pix to allow ICMP inside interface. I know by default that the Pix does not allow ICMP to the opposite interface and I was wondering if someone could help me with a configuration that will allow this? I enclose my configuration of the pix!

    Thank you

    Hello

By raising the ordering tool, it seems that the 'management-access' command was introduced in version 6.3

I recommend spending at 6.3 If you can.

  • VCD to vCAC migration

I need an idea (links, a direct opinion, whatever it is) in the migration process from vCD to vCAC. We are in a position where we don't yet went live with our environment our customers internal (there is no public offering of this service). We have about 200 offices/orgs around the United States who will be served by this product, each (now) with its own it infrastructure and methodologies. Our current environment has vCD and executes v5.5 iirc. In my research, it has been said that a migration tool was promised (http://searchcloudcomputing.techtarget.com/news/2240204421/VMware-splits-vCloud-Director-into-vCenter-vCloud-Automation-Center)

    Specifically I asked;

    1. is there currently a migration white paper / plan / Utility / tool / process in place of VMware? Links to these information would be greatly appreciated

    2. What are the specific pain points in this transition?

    3. Since no customer still not served by vCD, this will facilitate the transition?

    4. any other thought or resources I could use to help guide my executives about the process.

Most of the information I could glean from superficial research has been starting in 2013-2014 and seemed to be a little dated especially with the release of vRealize v6.x and vCAC.

    Thanks in advance.

I took a different approach to our migration vCD.  I went to a route that starts from the principle that we want to re - use the same hardware and make a migration of style "in place".  I'm not looking to create machine model maps any multi for each virtual machine in a fair TIME will become a vm to stand alone in vCAC.  Workflows take a VAPP as the input and makes a loop on each virtual machine and follow these steps:

Assumptions - vCAC has been implemented to manage resources that these virtual machines currently use in vCD and the virtual computers appear in the inventory vCAC as unmanaged vms.

    1. stop each vm

    2. vApp stop

    3. delete all snapshots

    4 consolidate records

    5. make a backup of the original .vmx file for each virtual machine.

6 to update the configuration of virtual machine to remove the cloud.uuid value and update the value of displayName be vm name less the uuid of vCD.  It's ok to do in our environment, that it does not duplicate hostnames in use.

7 unregister the virtual machine from vCenter

    8. create a new folder and vmx file and move the virtual disks to this new folder.

9 save the new vmx (keep the UUID)

    10. rename the entity vm vCAC to match the name in vCenter

11 run the workflow vCAC plugin named 'Import vCenter Virtual Machine.

    12 remove the VAPP vCD

This process worked great for us.  I hope this helps.

  • Migration of profiles of win2k3 TS to view Win7

I searched a bit and found nothing about it... someone had experience of migration of Windows 2003R2 Server Terminal Services user profiles to Windows 7 using a configuration management Persona? I'm tempted to just run the tool migration profile against the documents and settings on the TS server folder, he did not want to waste my time if someone already knew it did not work, or knew a better way.

Then I ran the migration profile against the profiles tool, seems to have worked very well.

  • Upgrade to Vcenter 4.0 to Vcenter 4.1: what settings are migrated

    Hello

I want to know what parameters are transferred on a migration of Vcenter 4.0 to Vcenter 4.1 qith a package database.

    In Vsphere upgrade guide:

The VirtualCenter or vCenter include settings that you can migrate with the server configuration tool:

    LDAP data n

n Port settings for ports HTTP, HTTPS, heartbeat, Web services, LDAP and SSL LDAP

n certificates stored in the SSL folder

    Licence No.

n database for a base SQL Server Express delivered only

So are the resource pools, guests, alarms, etc. supposed to be tranfered to the new Vcenter?

Yes, all these settings should remain intact.

If you have found this helpful at all prices please points using the correct or useful!  Thank you!

  • Is there a way to group TCP and UDP services?

    Hello

We are doing a migration of some firewalls Checkpoint to PIX 7.x. The ASDM has evolved enormously since PDM on 6.x, and I'm starting to think it might be useful to use, compared to the CLI.

But one thing that we noticed: Checkpoint has a handy feature that allows the creation of 'service groups' which can have all TCP and UDP services.

This makes it easy to read Checkpoint modules. On the PIX now, where his was necessary to have the udp and tcp protocols allowed to a destination, I had to create 2 separate acl for udp, TCP.

Anyone know of a way to unite the tcp and udp together in a group? I feel that the answer is no, as long as it is not possible in the CLI and the ASDM is, in my opinion, just a 'display' CLI.

    TIA-

    Gary

Hello.. of course, you can use the object group service command (I don't remember h: to do from the graphical interface as I don't have it in front of me right now). You c a group of udp ports, tcp or tcp and udp ports so very similar to the way in which you can do control point.

    object-group

To define groups of objects that you can use to optimize your configuration, use the object-group command

in global configuration mode. No form of this command to delete groups of objects of the

Configuration. This command supports IPv4 and IPv6 addresses.

    object-group {Protocol: network: icmp type} obj_grp_id

    No object-group {Protocol: network: icmp type} obj_grp_id

    object-group service obj_grp_id {tcp | udp: tcp - udp}

I hope that helps... Rate if he does!

  • How much power for AMD - A - 3670K, 1 TB 7200 HDD and a Samsung EVO 120 G SSD?

    I have a HP P6-2376 with a Holly2 MoBo and it came with a 300W power supply.

I want to install a Samsung SSD of EVO to run WIN8 OS and also have a 1 TB 7200 RPM HARD drive.

    I have a 8 G or DDR3 1600 memory and currently have the AMD APU A4-3420, but am upgrading to the A6 - 3670 K.

My current diet is adequate, from a 65W APU to an APU 100W so the new SSD?

    Thank you.

    Warhorse99, welcome to the forum.

If it was me, I do the upgrades and see if an upgrade of the power supply is necessary.  It does not simply there is not enough power, but one thing is not custom.

I just installed a Samsung EVO 840 500 GB, SSD.  I was given advice on installing it.  Connect the SSD to one of the other SATA connectors on the motherboard.  Let your HARD drive connected at the moment.  Then download and run the Samsung Data Migration tool.  Clone of the legacy of the SSD drive.  It was extremely easy.  When the migration is unplug the HARD drive and start.  My SSD started without a change in the BIOS.  Once the SSD is installed, you can also use "Samsung magician" to optimize for.  It is on the disc that came with the SSD drive.  The Migration of data from Samsung tool instructions are on the same page.  Make sure that the amount of data on the HARD drive is more than the amount that fits on the SSD.

  • Can Veristand 2009 and 2010 Veristand be installed on the same computer?

I have VS2009 on my machine. I would like to install VS2010 as an eval to start porting more implementation to VS2010 before I pull the plug on VS2009. These bothe perhaps installed and functional-by-side on the same machine? Are there objections to bounce back between the two? I already have the prereqs listed on page eval VS2010 (NOR-DAQmx 9.1.5, NOR-RIO 3.5 and NOR-XNET 1.1).

On the same computer, you can have NI VeriStand 2009 and 2010. If you have developed an application in 2009, you can migrate to 2010 using the tool of mutation in 2010. However, you won't be able to open a project from 2010 in 2009. For example, if you have any custom devices or personalized workspace objects/tools they have developed in the same version of LabVIEW that NI VeriStand. In other words, NI VeriStand 2009 can only use the custom devices created in LabVIEW 2009 and NI VeriStand 2010 can use custom peripheral performance created in LabVIEW 2010.

  • Cisco Secure ACS 4.1 - blocking attempts to authenticate to a specific host

We use the application of RADIUS of ACS 4.1 for both wireless 802. 1 x and for our old PIX 515E authentication, as well as a few other features.

We try to migrate users off the PIX and want a method of disabling their ability to connect through the PIX once we have them migrated to the new method of remote access.

Authentication in ACS logs show the IP address of our PIX under "NAS-IP-Address" as the source of the authentication attempt.

Is there a relatively simple/easy way to block this IP address attempts (which causes these attempts fail) all by allowing wireless systems and others to proceed as usual on a per user basis?

    Brian:

If I have understood correctly, you must allow users to connect to the wifi but prevent users to connect via PIX.

What you can do is to create a configuration of access network (OAN) Restriction under the config görüş (or under Configuration user if each user).

    See this image:

If you don't see the network access restrictions config under the user and/or group config, you can activate the Interface-> advanced options configuration.

  • ASA 5540 FW running version 7.0 (5)

I'm upgrading to PIX new pair of ASA 6.3.5 tonight. I wonder if anyone knows of any pitfalls that I need to know... I also want to know if this version of the code for the ASA are stable. Thanks in advance

We have migrated so a few Pix 520 s v. 6.3.5 to ASAs 7.0.5 running. I recommend their running in parallel and the migration of your servers, and virtual private networks slowly. We did this and it's paid off I crushed the ASAs several times because of software bugs. The sound of ASAs grand to integrate features of the hub VPN, IPS, etc but I'm now firmly to separate these services and their execution on different boxes.

We met EZVPN 831 'NEM' connection problems and it's malforming SCCP IP phones. We took the chance and upgraded to 7.2.1 in the hope that it would resolve due to improved Skinny improvements. Now stateful failover does not work "CSCse81232". So I'll still with another Pandora's box :)

So in summary if you use just the ASAs as a basic firewall 7.0.5 is stable. It's not worth the risk to pass the first major version just because of new features.

P.S. If you use make it sure ASDM you click on apply after each change. Do not a bunch of changes and then hit apply as this will crash 7.0.5. "CSCse22853" this bug was discovered by me and was not specific to just the cmds of DHCP relay.

  • vCenter call DB and Server Move Question

We have a VM a vCenter on W2k3 32bits.  Let's go to vcenter 4.1 on a new 2008 R2 virtual machine and to move our database to a new SQL Server.

Article on the servers of the movement says to migrate the DB using the tools of sellers, our SQL2005 32 - bit for a SQL2005 64 bit machine.

    The Ko server move.

So I will stop the service and my DBA wants to just copy the log files and the DB on the new server and see if it works.  He said that migration can take a long time.  I don't know that I'm not the ADMINISTRATOR.

Anyone has done this way with adaptation just the DB files above, then opening the new DSN on the new server?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

The procedure detailed on the KB that is quite right, so you won't have any problems if you follow the steps carefully.

The Guide upgrade to VMware Documentation, particularly section 5 "upgrade to vCenter Server on a different Machine and upgrade the existing database":
