  a root is a designated port (if shipping port) on a non-root bridgewhich a path root the lowest cost to the root bridge. So there is nothing unusual here, and your kernel needs to be done to root bridge if you run STP between distribution and kernel as you apparently.

  To use vNetwork Distributed Switch, you need the license of vSphere Enterprise Plus.  Another version of vSphere does not include this feature.  You also need a vCenter Server license.

  Anyone has any experience of migration to new hardware for storage with different RAID types when you use ASM? I guess there is no problem of hardware compatibility. Is it possible to connect the new storage to the servers and create new ASM disks groups, move data to the new disk groups files and then remove the old storage? Or should I take a RMAN backup and then restore it on the new storage?

  Yes, but remember that you don't want to leave all as unpaired LUN in the same diskgroup permanently, as ASM blindly assumes that all LUNS have the same capabilities and balances Allocation units (AUs) is based on this assumption.

  If you break rebalance ASM, add a lot of new LUNS in an existing diskgroup and mark all old LUNS to fall once evacuated, then resume the rebalancing, the end result will be all new LUNS that are all also hitched. Just by adding a few new LUNS leaving some old would produce suboptimal performance.

  If you go to the approach of separate ASM diskgroup, you have the luxury to migrate your files (if desired) iteratively given ASM manages two independent disk groups.

• Migrating from a distributed virtual switch pass

  I have a cluster that is approved for business-more.  I would like the host to a distributed switch.  The configuration of the virtual switch is as follows:

  4 NICs connected to a host, the NIC are part of an EtherChannel.  The network adapters are teamed up with ip route based on the hash of the IP.  All network adapters are connected to the same vSwitch with port groups created for access to the different VLANS

  I did the following to try to migrate to the new distributed switch: I broke the EtherChannel and removed three network adapters on the virtual switch and assigns them to the distributed switch.  At the same time grouping NETWORK adapters on the virtual channel switch based on the originating virtual, we changed the port ID.  I then migrated the service console more for the new switch successfully distributed.  I have created groups of ports on the virtual switch.

  The question is when I re - create the EtherChannel falls hosts on the network.  I have noted the following: "see attachment".

  What is the process to move the vswif0 vDS? Is this possible via CLI?

  A new vswif to create in the vDS with a new uplink, remove the ESX the Vcenter and add it with the new ip vswif and then delete the old vswif of the standard switch.

  Is there a better way to do it?

  It's better if you could refer to vSS to vDS migration TSB practice.

  In the doc mentioned about 2 x posible to migrate:

  1. the host migrate with some distruption to virtual machines

  2. the host migrate without distruption to virtual machines

  So, I prefer option 1, because you only have a physical nic involved.

  This option includes two steps:

  A. migrating from virtual port (console service etc.) first--so you can always manage ESX

  B. Migrate machine virtual network (Distruption on the network of the virtual computer until step B)

  Host migration with a few disruptions to virtual machines

  The process as outlined in step 3 of the chart includes two substeps:

  A. migration vmnic and virtual ports (VMkernel and Service Consoles) ports can be migrated in one step of

  vCenter Server.

  B. migration of VM networking where virtual machines are migrated from vSS Port port vDS DV groups groups.

  If all vmnic is migrated in step A, then all the virtual machines will lose network connectivity until step b. step B can follow quickly after (that's the step A

  up to the speed of the operator), but active sessions will probably drop. However, VMs may stay lit.

  I have many apps and installed OS cached on the old server, how can I migrate the cache on the new server?

  Two ways.

  1. If the new server can peer with the former, just run two servers for a while.  A new shoot gradually data it needs from the old when clients request it.  This method is best if the new server has already given cached which is not the old one.

  2. for a more immediate clone, stop two development servers cache, run this command in a Terminal on the new server, and then resume the new update server caching.  Replace the admin user with the name of an administrator account on the old server and old-server with the name or the IP address of the old server.

  $ sudo rsync - a - delete admin user@old-server: / library/server/cache/Data / / Library/Server/cache/Data /.

  The sudo and the rear bars (after data) are important.  This command replaces the new cache server with the content of the old cache, assuming that the two of them store their caches in the default location on the boot drive.  If we use a different location, change the command accordingly.  Be sure to copy only the data directory and not all of the caching folder.

  You can start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance).

  Hi, some time ago I move from the MBW Unibody (Yosemite) to the MBP (as the new Yosemite and El captain now). System files of old, full of junk mac, did not migrate to a new. I had an iPhone 4S at this time, later I change 4 s to 5 s. It took me a while to realize that my archive messages.app on new MBP starts from a ~ September and there is no SMS messages more former both on MBP and 5s.

  I know that it is not a problem to replace my new archive old MBP but I want to keep the MBW SMS old and new SMS of MBP.

  Copy of name/library/Messeges/Archive users/user content does nothing.

  The chat.db elements are the SQL files and you could (I have not tried) get and application that can read the files to merge some.

  (2) cannot be done. Although the files are on the iPhone and can be backed up in iTunes, then a utility used to bring in text, there is no way to get this into Messages.

  The files are for a different OS (only compatible applications between them - that would be like trying to work with the LENS for PC files saved in the Mac version)
