• Need help with 'Other' on my Mac hard drive

  Hi all, someone help me with this problem? Ive read previous support tickets in an effort to get to this sort, but my problem seems to be growing.

  S my mac is as follows:

  OS X Yosemite 10.10.5

  iMac (21.5 inch, mid 2011)

  Intel Core i5 at 2.7 GHz

  20 GB 1333 MHz DDR3

  Macintosh HD

  My problem is the 'Other' part of the HD memory has been slowly growing in recent weeks, Ive has cleared out all the obvious places, course trashed all my movies, edited down from my apps I don't need, removed tons of photos, today I deleted my main cache, must have been more than 100 topics there alone.

  But still 'other' continues to grow and I got my first warning tonight that my boot drive is almost full... currently; there I have 407,9 MB of free space on my Mac hard drive.

  Can someone walk me through the steps to get that back at all?

• Maxtor One Touch 4 Mini external hard drive not partitioned by Windows 7 PC

  I have a Maxtor One Touch 4 Mini external hard drive that has been formatted to originally a Windows XP computer. I have a new computer that uses the Windows 7 operating system. The drive hard Maxtor are not accessible by the new computer. Although the new computer reconizes the device by its name, the Maxtor Manager window displays the score as 'unknown '. Maxtor/Seagate technical support said that I need to move the files from the old external hard drive Maxtor on a new Seagate, external drive, using a Windows XP computer. Is there another easier way?

  The Windows 7 Compatibility Center shows that the Maxtor OneTouch 4 Mini is compatible with Windows 7.
  However, given that it is a product of the 3 part, you go by what the Seagate support said.

  I very recently installed in Yosemite. Shortly after, I went to save an image in a folder "Images", but was surprised to find that not only the folder 'Images' have not shown, but no record showed. Only my Mac hard drive and, in the devices section, three external hard drives attached through it. The only way to make pictures has been to start with the hard drive and browse it. A process of waste of time. So far, all other programs I saved or open documents of Interior still show all photos. This problem seems to be isolated to Photoshop. I checked that all through Photoshop preferences but can find no way to restore it as it was. Help will be appreciated.

  You can try to reset the 2015 cc photoshop preferences by going to your user library

  (To view your user library, click on your desktop, click the Go menu and hold down the Option key.

  Then you should see the words of library, which is your user library.

  ~/Library/preferences)

  and by dragging the folder settings Adobe Photoshop CC 2015 in the trash

  Also let slide paths in Adobe Photoshop CC 2015 and com.adobe.Photoshop.plist in the trash as well and see if screw up these elements makes a difference.

  Hi amireos,

  Yes, you can create your workflow where you can keep all your images on the external hard drive and the Lightroom catalog file as well.

  If you start with Lightroom and then use the Destination location as external hard drive when you import your image of the external source such as a camera or SD.

  If you already have your Images on the Mac HD drive, then play all your Image on the external hard drive first and then import images directly from there.

  Finally, you can change the location of the Lightroom Catalog as well.

  Default location: folder on the Mac Drive HD, there is folder called Lightroom that you can move on the external drive too (however catalog Lightroom can't memory space as its only import previews of the images is not the real image and full)

  Once you move the file catalog Lightroom external hard disk, then you need to browse the catalog file when you launch Lightroom only once.

  While working on my mac mini from a top of the Tower on the same network, I noticed something very strange, at least for me and it's something I've never seen before. I went to empty the trash I had more deleted files that I no longer need and examined what was in the trash until I did the emptying of the Recycle Bin. Just a habit that I make sure that I am not delete something, I shouldn't be. During my review, I realized was the Macintosh hard drive icon to the trash. It is not a copy of a shortcut, it's actually the hard drive. It indicates the size of the hard drive up to 43.8 GB and a shortcut would be not so great. I went back and tried the hard drive in applications, downloads, all files and the only place where it appears is in the trash. I tried to remove it from the trash can by dragging to the desktop, applications, downloads, documents folder and all folders of files. The questions are: 1) how to return the hard drive in the applications folder or anywhere else. ((2) degree of severity of a problem is it and 3) I'll never be able to completely and permanently empty the trash due to the Macintosh hard disk icon is in the trash. Should I try to fix on my on the required technical support call or a visit to the genius bar? The extent of the operation is going, I am always able to access all files as if nothing has changed. The mini is an El Capitan 2010 late model running. Any help is GREATLY appreciated. Thank you guys!

  I guess that there is now no icon on the desktop for the disc? However, if there is then the drive is not really in the trash but there is probably an alias in the trash. OS X will not let you put the boot volume to the trash, and it will create a big warning.

What is there of nowhere that the information system is stored on the hard drive? I would like to know what CPU, how much RAM, etc my old MacBook due.

  I know that you should be able to use the model number, but I can't find the model number on my MacBook. I know it's the screen 15 '' and a 250 GB HARD drive. The model number is A1286 but I can't find the EMC for it - it could be one of many different MacBook

  It is powered by usb? If yes the hard drive turning upward? There are the sounds of rattling of the reader?

  The same way that you moved the library before, except with the disc source and destination reversed. The Photos application must always be on the startup disk.

  Before selling my PC, I retained my SATA hard drive that has Windows XP. And now, I was wondering if I can boot to it directly by going to the start menu in the start by pressing option. My friend told me that there is an option for bootcamping but it's to create a partition, but tbh I don't want that. I want only one HDD for windows whenever I need. I've heard that maybe I need to install my Windows XP drivers to make it work in mac hardware. Is it possible to fix this?

  Its probably doable though I've ever tried.

  Boot Camp can be used without creating a new partition, as long as you already have an unused partition or HD. I ran my Windows XP and Win7 installed on a HD in my MacPro 2008 (mac tower with 4 HD bays).

  Issues that come to mind are as follows:

  • You will probably need to pilots. They are normally downloaded via the Boot Camp Assistant application. Most of them is 3rd party software and divers with some exceptions for a few specific Apple things. These are installed after the Windows installation is performed when you perform an installation of Boot Camp, so I would imaging that it should be possible to apply any existing Windows Installer.
  • I vaguely remember Windows being only unable booted from an external hard drive so that might be a problem.
  • I also wonder if the Boot Camp is necessary in step of format and prepare to install Windows to set up a Windows OSX Bootstrapper.

• Download iCloud photos to External Hard drive maxing out on my Mac hard drive

  My photo library was therefore mainly on iCloud due to its size, but I wanted have also stored it locally. So I bought a large external hard drive, plugged and copied my library of Photos of her. I can't find the source of these files. My iMac utility disk tells me I have files over 121 million, while that the Finder tells me that I have only ~ 1 800 elements.

  Should I just make the trip to the Genius Bar, or this should be resolved once the download is complete? Late 2009 iMac, 500 GB; 1.3 photos.

• 'Eating' Mac Hard Drive then RAM Adobe CC

  Hi All-

  Apologize if this has been posted somewhere before but I need serious help.

  A few weeks ago, I had a problem where something happened and it filled the unwanted mail folders on my mac under my CC adobe after effects folder full of junk.  Some of the garbage.  186GB of junk.

  I found the source began to remove these files.  OK, so I'm back in business.

  Yesterday, it happened again.  My hard disk space had fallen to 32 MB, and then he started eating my RAM.  I look down 14 GB nothing.

  I then clear and Batman, begins to eat again.

  I have cleared all my cache and all of a sudden my hard drive was back to normal.

  I wake up today and it does again.

  I found a few pieces of the puzzle.

  I found that a "demon of adobe update" file or something fills.  It had 528 GB of usage on my hard drive.

  Then I have a kernal eating my RAM space.

  Could be a type of virus to Adobe for mac?  Someone at - it suggestions.  I'm done so beyond.

  (2) restart the machine.

  (3) install the latest Adobe Creative cloud version from the link: CC help | Creative cloud desktop

  Is this HARD you want to install also have SATA interface? If so, it should be no problem to install this Satellite Pro A120 HARD drive.

  But try it and don t ask. Either it works or not ;)

• Why is my hard drive (external) working on a Windows PC, but not on my Mac?

  I recently got a few files transferred to a friends computer to my external hard drive and when I plugged back on my Mac it wasn't appearig in the finder or disk utility. The power led on the hard drive lit. When I plugged it in my friends mac hard drive was there, but when you clicked on the folders they were all empty. We then plugged on a Windows computer, and it worked fine! What keeps it from working on Mac?

  The hard drive has been formatted in Mac (Mac OS Extended journaled) format.

  He worked on your Mac before that?

  Were the files that you copied from another Mac or Windows computer?

  You say you plugged into a computer in the window and it worked fine.

  A Windows computer will not read an external hard drive that is formatted as OS extended (journaled).

  So maybe it is formatted in NTFS in Windows.
