  I'm going to print something and the troublescreen said: The HP LaserJet 1020 has the open front door or the toner cartridge is missing. But the door is closed and the cartridge is fine. I put a new in after the message started appearing thinking that the low level of ink was casusing the change. I suspect a mechanical switch is kaput, but do not want to enter the machine. All the switches look and feel like they are working normally.

  This little machine of love, it's a real workhorse, simple and effective.  I use a laptop Samsung with Windows 7 and my actions joint the printer using a Toshiba PC. We both get the same response from our little hp... todius

  I will now let you know that we have done to resolve this.  My wife has stuck a pencil in the slot of reception for the closed cover pin located on the corner left front of the top cover. She shook it until she was able to close the lid and printing. He now works as it always has.

• Mini Mac missed (and therefore a new!) - how to debug

  My mother has a Mac Mini that was old for a few years (running 10.6). It was getting really slow - even open the page of Google base takes awhile, and often he would lose wifi connection completely (even if the icon wifi in the bar menu says bars full), forcing them to turn off Airport and then turn it back on.  There was also a lot of freeze of the application and the formidable reel slider. I cleaned up, emptied the caches, ran disk utility, etc. etc., made sure there was a lot of space, and I know that our wifi is strong because it sits just next door with my (also several year old) MacBook Air, I had no problem with this - catchy network etc., all without success.  Thinking it might be hardware problems, we bought a new Mac Mini: late model 2014, 2.6 GHz intel Core i5, 8 GB of memory, running Yosemite out of the box. I lit, migrated the data Time machine and slumps - exactly the same problem! Navigation network is slow and painful, even if the Airport icon is showing full bars. Also, curiously, the headphone jack is not working, and internal speakers do not present as an option under the speaker icon in the menu bar. What Miss me - how a new machine to be as bad as that - that's left to check, if the wifi signal is strong?

  Have reset you the modem and the router you use and updated the firmware on both? Even if other devices work fine, this could be your problem. If you use the non Apple router then you may need to contact the support of the router to reset and update support.

• HP Pavilion p7-1210 door Desktop optical drive is not closed

  This gate used to stand firm, covering an expansion Bay empty.  Now it has opened and remains open; won't stay closed not so closed manually.  My guess would be a kind of lack of jurisdiction, but I don't know how to take apart and locate the absence of spring or how to buy and replace it.

  You're right, a spring is involved.   Here is the Service Manual. Spread a sheet on the table and open the chassis.  To find what has happened, you will need to remove the front panel.   Which will expose the 2 sets of doors of DVD.   You can compare the top door when the door is faulty.    Spring is turned off/broken or there is more damage to the Assembly.  As you say that it covered an EMPTY Bay, you can correct it.  Fix the door or a closed inside band.

  Just to close the loop, we decided to force the drawer open, because the printer was unusable anyway even if we have something broken. With a lot of pressure, the drawer open. We then tried to print something and a message there is a paper jam.  We opened the back door to clear paper jam and off broke a spring and a broken then only plastic parts. We cleared the jam and thought that the broken part just came to the door but was clearing of the works.  Then we printed out a page and everything worked fine.  If the door does not close completely because it is missing a piece, so what?   Click right tab taskbar - task - process - make sure WMPlayer.exe Manager, nor any other

  You have disk problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD burning and)
  Playback of CD and DVD). So it is not unusual for parts from 1 or 2 to not work so that others do
  correctly.

  Burning at low speed, or by using the master could help. A CD/DVD cleaner might help.

  CD have a tolerance + - and your must read on the edge outside these tolerances of discs.
  They may be delivered, but it is generally more economical to replace the disk. Can burn you
  a mastered CD and a DVD mastered on this computer and laptop and other computer
  machines? Can you do the same on the laptop and play in this machine?

  Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
  ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and

• Case of the missing/missing shortcuts

  I jumped on here to see if you could suggest a fix for a problem I have. After Windows 7 upgrade failure I returned to my previous Vista Ultimate installation through the method of recovery Windows.old. What is missing is shortcuts in the start menu. Well, Miss not so much because they just don't ' function. Some do it. Most don't. And when I do fresh installs of standard legal Microsoft Office 2010 applications, the right words are in the Microsoft Office folder, but the icons are blank pages and clicking on them leads nowhere. I fully described this in a TechNet forum but after some initial answers I missed someone out there for two weeks or more. Being an MCSE etc. I'm sure that you can access this topic.

  On 14 July, I tried upgrading my system Vista Ultimate to Win 7 Ultimate. The Windows 7 upgrade bombed horribly after it chewed by 379 GB of disk space, which ends with a fatal error and the abandonment of the facility while trying to write the data Windows.old.

  To try to recover my Vista installation, I was able to boot from a WinPE cd and renamed Windows Win 7 (3 GB) and then renamed Windows.old (two parts of them 10 gb and the other who has been moved to another partition of 286 gb - merged) for Windows. I know that this will cause a proverbial plethora of problems. But it had TO be done because I rely on this system to work. I have 8 TB of data and programs, saved through Carbonite (about 300gigs) game. All this RAID1. But of course, when Win 7 watered the plant, he watered it who was on the mirrors too.

  The BIGGEST problem I have right now is the 'loss' of my Start Menu Programs and their shortcuts. I did the typical 'rebuild your icon cache!' and other general suggestions for this "problem" (which I need a tissue). All to nothing does not.

  Where there were once viable shortcuts, there are now icons of the white page next to the names of programs. When you right-click one of these old shortcuts, the shortcut tab is completely absent from the property page.   My question is this: given that Win 7 wiped all THE restore points, I can't do a system restore. When I right click on one of these shortcuts to nowhere, and then select open folder nothing happens. I don't know how to repair these shortcuts. Y at - it a utility that will fix these for me? Would an inplace upgrade/repair of Vista restore them? Or I'll have to manually re-create all of the 14 000 .lnks on my system?

  To simplify this problem, let's just try and solve the last thing happened, which I completely remove Office 2007 and install Office 2010 and after that, the icons/shortcuts that have been put in my menu Start Menu/All programs are broken pages to nowhere, and tab shortcuts is to go in the properties... once again. This is the problem that we have to fix.

  Some additional data... Since the last post, I made new times-first installations of Visio 2010 and Project 2010 to go with my newly installed Office 2010 Pro. And guess what? The icons are blank pages and the shortcuts are not shortcuts. See the photo below.

  I think I've identified the problem. I understand that many people have had this or a similar problem after I replaced the cyan cartridge.   I had the same problem, but I solved the problem thanks to HP, because I have their laptops for business.

  Their bluetooth device driver was not active and up-to-date.

  As expected, it was Found HP. supported drivers for my particular model and the version of windows on the HP website and found the latest driver for bluetooth device. I had the version dated May 2015, and my headphones worked great after that.

  Question: Pcwum.dll missing everything by opening the Task Manager.

  Make the SFC (System File Checker) scan and see if the problem occurs.

  Question: looking for a Windows Update.

  Run the troubleshooter and check if that helps.

  Open the Windows Update troubleshooting tool

  Question: Blue screen

  Perform the steps in the link and check.

  Resolve stop (blue screen) error in Windows 7

  6. open the top cover and reinsert the cartridges.

  Thanks for the reply. The reset that you are doing is trying to get the printer to recognize ink cartridges are missing from the machine. After plugging in the printer, it should alert you that cartridges are missing; and at that time, you would put them back in the machine.  So after removing the ink cartridge in step 2, we would then close the printer access door before unplugging the printer. So, I guess we can appoint the step which is missing "step 2.5.

  We do some tests before a possible deployment was of Win 7 and have encountered a problem of Menu start which left us speechless. On the machine in question, a number of programs and files 'disappeared' in the menu 'programs'. When you look at the two folders that should be merged to display this menu, programs and missing files are present, but those that are listed in the user profile do not appear in the start--> list all programs from the Start button Menu.   This may mean that you have over 70 entries in the two Start Menu > programs files. Try to click the Windows Orb (start), click all programs, and then click Open. Again right click all programs, and then click Open all users. Right-click the taskbar, and then click windows next door. Take a look in the two program records and if it has more than 70 entries, some of them combine or create subfolders. Right click on the task bar to cancel the side by side.

  Finally, using the Task Manager, terminate and restart Explorer or reboot the computer to refresh the list.
