  I had two of the same OS Windows 8.1 on my Y500 (cloned from the original SSD). Then, last night I tried to 'refresh without affecting your files' option for my OS on the HARD drive so I have a new OS to go back to incase anything happened. then on the screen of Lenovo, it said that the E: drive is being updated as well so I panicked and turned off the computer. Now, I can't access either of the OS. What should I do? I made a return to the top just before and aft of the files are still there in a partition on the HARD drive, I did. I used a boot Puppy LInux USB to see the files on my HARD drive but it wouldn't let me transfer it to an external hard drive. I'll try to install a linux better and try to transfer the OKR files to another drive.

  -How would I go about restoring the backup of files if I were to bring on another drive?

  I NB200 a customer on the bench. He arrived with complete operating system failure and wouldn't boot from the partition of the OS or the recovery Partition.

  I checked the hard drive and it is in perfect working condition. However, it seems that all is not well that I can't boot from the partition recovery even after holding doen the 0 key.

  I tried to ask him to start from the TRUNK. INI file by pointing a "revoery" to the partition option, but it just comes up with an error message saying \system32\HAL file is missing or damaged.   If you check page 48 in s manuals you will find an exact description how to start installation of recovery. The procedure on this NB200 is same or, at least, similar to all laptops come with HARD drive recovery image. Please check.

  I bought my new HP pavilion laptop G4 two days ago only and has not changed anything in the two players named drive C: for windows and D: for HP Recovery.

  now, I want to do a recovery with the HP Recovery Manager software disk.

  but it shows a Massage: "Recovery of Partition was deleted" Recovery Media creation section.

  in the recovery Partition my computer is almost full (3.26 G 25.5 G is free). so I think that there are current recovery files.

  I have not access to HP to buy recovery disk or call support.

  I don't know why your PC is saying your partition disappeared - you're right, it seems to be missing. I know that if you use the wizard to help to make your recovery disks backup copies and then ask him to remove the recovery partition to give you more space on the hard drive, it will remove the factory image HP of Windows 8 for the recovery partition and let the normal Windows repair tools.

  There are tools, but which allow you to create your own recovery partition full with these tools of Windows repair and a new image of your instalation so that you can restore from that. You can use this tool: Windows 7/8 - creator of Partition Recovery OEM available here: http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads/21978-Windows-7-8-OEM-Recovery-Partition-Creator but it's a lot of work and it would be faster and more easy just for your data backup and restoration of your HP recovery disks made you from the support Assistant. If you did not the disks, HP can opt to send you a copy... they do not normally this but I read that some people have luck to get a free copy of HP media... otherwise, they want you to buy recovery disks ($40.00). I guess it depends on the exact terms of your situation.

  An alternative is to use Macrium Reflect Free Edition to ghost or clone your system. You can then restore your entire system even with your custom programs installed, to the exact state it was when you made the backup image. (this may take several dvd) I suggest that you go down that road because your system with Macrium Reflect restore is much faster than restoring from the HP recovery discs. Even if you do not get another copy recovery disks, you must use this tool to make another backup that you can customize to your liking. Your re - installs will be faster, they will already have your chosen installed software, and you will save wear on your HP recovery disks.  You can then delete the recovery partition to regain this space on your hard drive (since you cannot access in all cases, you will not need this space being taken up).  BUT... you cannot restore Mode UEFI which is what HP comes with. You have to go into your Bios settings and switch in the Legacy Bios mode (which disables the secure boot) FIRST or else the Macruim recovery boot disk will not load to install the recovery image. After the system re - installs you can go back into the bios settings and disable bios Legacy and reactivate if secure boot you want. (Windows 8 charge mode UEFI bios active secure boot or Legacy mode... it's your choice.) UEFI mode will load faster, but it will cause problems if you want double boot the system with another OS) hope this helps.

  My cousin had tried to restore the computer to factory settings it has recently made more.   During the process, he has failed and now does not start with "Boot Mngr missing" without recovery disks are available (if ever made) so the only recovery system is on partion D of the hard disk that is not available.  I realize that with a Windows disc, the system could be put back, but Windows so not provide copies of their ISO systems until the '7' with some partition bootable software, I checked that the D drive is OK and all recovery files there.   I tried to remove and connect the hard drive via a USB cable to another computer to try to copy files from a startup disk, but the drive appears as "not initialized".

  Any - one out there had some magical suggestioins please?

  I read the user guide on the HARD drive recovery utility, but by pressing 0 at startup did not help.

  Stand by. What recovery on the HARD drive partition do you mean exactly?
  As far as I know Vista has formatted the whole HARD drive and created two partitions; one for the system (partition C) and the second partition for the restoration of the system are hidden (not visible).

  I guess you must restore the supplied XP from the recovery CD Toshiba operating system if you want to install the XP again.
  In my opinion, it's the fact and the quickest way to get back the XP on the laptop ;)

  I searched the Forum but have not found exactly what I needed to know.

  I installed a couple of updates to windows, and now no software will open outside of google chrome. Registry appears to be corrupted, and if I get an early state, yet windows seems to have a problem, could used to install anything. So I guess my only way out is to back up my files and perform a system recovery.

  But I have a few questions on the recovery of this system.

  I have a HP Recovery partition, but I never created a recovery disk (it always shows me a reminder), so here are my questions:

  (1) if I create the DVD of recovery (as requested by this reminder of HP), it will remove the recovery Partition?

  (2) if I don't create the recovery DVD and use the HP system recovery, it remove the recovery Partition after recovery?

  (3) if I make the recovery of the system (without DVD), I'll be able to create the recovery DVD after? Will it keep showing me the reminder?

  (4) if I do a recovery of the system (without DVD), will I still be able to use the Recovery Manager software? If I create the DVD, I will still be able to use it?

  I ask this cause I'd rather have my recovery on the HARD drive on a DVD, but I'm afraid that a recovery of the system will delete the partition recovery and software.

  I ask this cause I'd rather have my recovery on the HARD drive on a DVD, but I'm afraid that a recovery of the system will delete the partition recovery and software.  It is always better to create the recovery/s disk because if fails it HARD drive, you will lose everything with no way to get it back.  The DVD is much more reliable than the HARD drive.

  I have a P-8460 that I want to return to the factory settings, but it does not have a recovery partition and I can't find any sign of Recovery Manager. However, I have the recovery disks initial (a Windows HP disc and a diskette of drivers and applications).

  I booted from the Windows disk but it begins to reinstall Windows and all the documentation I've seen leads me to believe that it should load up Recovery Manager. Is this true or do I go through the process of reinstalling Windows first?

  Finally, I cannot find any mention of Recovery Manager on the application disc, is installed elsewhere?

  Ideally, I want a factory fresh install with a recovery partition and the recovery manager installed.

  I bought a few days ago and made the entire system backup image. Then I changed HDD to HDD SSD and after some stupid circumstances, I accidentally deleted partition RECOVERY of the disc.

  And the issues are:
  1 have I somehow restore this RECOVERY partition. How?
  2. can I use my backup system image? How I restore it?

  If you happened to make the value recovery disc, then they will restore the recovery Partition when they are run.  If you have not done this before, you may need to order

  I accidentally deleted the partition recovery of my compaq presario cq61 (win7 home premium 64 bit) while trying to install another operating system.  Before the accident, I got the drive C and drive D marked Recovery, now after you remove the other operating system I have the drive C and D of road marked as system.

  It is possible to recover this partition to backup an image I did before?

  Hi Michele,

  The recovery partition recovery is not otherwise likely to be a possibility with free software. The chances of restoring the windows backup is also pretty thin.

  If your brother's laptop is absolutely identical then use it is a viable solution to the problem.  If it is not the same, then it will be a waste of time that the Recovery Manager will refuse to work.

  The best option is to use a recovery disc that is designed especially for or created by your laptop. 30.00 $ is much cheaper than purachasing an operating system.

  You can save the partitions of current drive with a program like Paragon program I you provided a link to in a previous post. At least that way you'll have a reliable picture of the current situation on the hard drive of your laptop.

  You can also legally reinstall Windows using the Microsoft Windows license on the certificate of Authenticity on the bottom of your laptop.

  Cisco IDS Appl & Module Inst & Conf quide (78 - 15597-01) 4.1 on page 9-80 & 81-9 lists the procedures for CatOS and native IOS. To step 6 in IOS, it shows the FTP UPDATE... - install

  Is the "-install" correct, or it is a typo in the doc? There is no - install flag in the CatOS example, and it is unclear why an order of sensor must depend on the OS running in the 6500. Article 4.1 of the Cmd ref doesn't seem to document a - install switch and the syntax in the configuration Guide does not appear to be the UNIX (switch after operand) syntax.

  The "-install" (NOTE: their should be 2 lines) is an option in the upgrade command ONLY in the Maintenance Partition upgrade order fo the IDSM2 used when the new image of the Application Partition.

  The "-install" should have been in native IOS and Cat OS documentation.

  The "-install" was required for the first versions of the MP to work properly, but I do not know if the latest version still requires for proper operation.

  I recommend to use it just in case.

  It is not mentioned in the reference to 4.1 because it is a command of MP that is not documented in the 4.1 reference that apply for orders of the AP.

  With respect to Unix syntax, it is a CLI and they chose a different syntax.

  Your question is a bit confusing, you can boot the laptop at all? Have you tried booting in safe mode, you can make a recovery DVD set from there, the folder Toshiba.

  With the drive in the Toshiba, you should be able to use a F, F10, F11, or F12 key to activate the installation from the partition hidden started upward.

  Otherwise, you can contact Toshiba, and with the model of the product id number and the laptop for Windows, you can buy a set of disks.
