missing screensaver

After testing my Surface RT for the needs of the customer, I noticed that there is no option to use a screen saver. When I go to personalization (charms > settings > personalization). The option is not simply there. I can see the bottom of screen, colors and sounds, but screensaver is missing. Given that the intention for this must be a unique kiosk but, I need the available screen saver. Any suggestions?

Hello FuzzyHorror,

You're right, that screen saver is not a part of Windows RT. You should be able to duplicate what you want it to do in Control Panel/Power Options.

I think that you need to reinstall new OS.
Seems impossible to boot the operating system.

In my opinion, you need to reinstall the operating system.
I put t know why you say that recover the drive can not help you
Usually, you should be able to restore the operating system using the recovery disk.
Put it in the ODD and the start-up of this disc to start the recovery process.

Alternatively, you can use an original disc of MS Windows.

  • My computer will not start, getting warning that the iertutil.dll is missing for Internet Explorer

Anyone know how to fix this problem? I get a warning saying that the iertutil.dll file is missing for internet explore. When I start my computer, all I get is my screensaver with no office. The only way I can continue any part of my computer is to go to alt del to get to the control task manager.

Do you mean you see a message like this:

Explorer.EXE - unable to locate component
This application has failed to start because iertutil.dll was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

That file should never be missed and it takes an extra effort to remove it on purpose because there are one of 3498 files who cares about Protection of file Windows (WFP).

If explorer.exe is not running, all you will see is your screen background image.

The file is in this folder (assuming that XP is installed on your C drive):

    c:\Windows\System32

Since you can get into the Task Manager do the following:

Since the Task Manager, click file, new task (run...) and then click Browse and navigate to this folder:

    c:\Windows\System32\dllcache

If you are unable to find or do not see the dllcache folder, because your system is not configured to display hidden files and folders, simply type the path to the folder name in the "Open:" box

    c:\Windows\System32\dllcache

Make sure the "Files of type" box is set to show all files (or you will not see any), and then click OK to display all files.

Locate copy the iertutil.dll file backup in the folder c:\windows\system32\dllcache, made a right click and copy and go back up a folder c:\windows\system32, right-click in an empty area and paste the file there.  Answered in the affirmative if invited to replace the existing file.

If you can't find the file in the dllcache folder (should be), depending on your installation, there may be a copy of the file on your system in this folder:

    c:\windows\ServicePackFiles\i386

If you find there, copy the file missing from there and paste it where it belongs

It is possible that some malicious software or your antivirus/antimalware indeterminate quarantined (actually deleted) the right file and the backup copy of which must be in the dllcache folder.

In this case, you can download a copy of my SkyDrive and use networks disks (on foot) to bring it to the system afflicted on a USB key or a floppy disk.

You may be able to 'Run' iexplore.exe in the Task Manager to get on the Internet and just download it.

I downloaded a copy of XP Pro SP3 file you need on my SkyDrive (everyone has a SkyDrive for file sharing).

You can download it and when you do, place a copy of the file in these two folders (assuming that Windows is installed on your C drive):

    c:\Windows\System32
c:\Windows\System32\dllcache (this is where XP keeps backups of important files).

Here is the link to my SkyDrive and you can get the file you need here:

    http://CID-6a7e789cab1d6f39.SkyDrive.live.com/redir.aspx?RESID=6A7E789CAB1D6F39! 311

When you see the files available for download, you will not see the extension of file (.exe, .dll, .cpl, .sys, etc), but when download you them they will have the right extension.

When you download the file (especially if you use Internet Explorer), when you get a chance to save the file, it cannot save the file with an extension (for example, .exe, .dll, .cpl, .sys) then you will need to manually add the extension appropriate to the file when you download the file before you save it.

You can download the file without the extension, and then rename the file to add the appropriate extension.  You do not want to use a file called rundll32 when the name of the file should really be called rundll32.exe (if the downloaded file has no extension, you will need to change the name of the file to add the appropriate extension to make it work.

You then put the downloaded files in the correct folders on your system.

That may not solve all your problems, but at least you will be spending this part and we can then fix the rest.

Since it is all very suspicious to meI would follow with this:

Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware detection programs at:
    Malwarebytes (MMFA): http://malwarebytes.org/
    SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/
They can be uninstalled later if you wish.
Restart your computer and solve the outstanding issues.

Probably, it will not make a difference if you use a screensaver brand scrolling. However, you do not have enough RAM on workstations. Thanks to another stick to bring them up to 1 GB and check your network infrastructure. It is much more likely that the machines are 'stuck' because you 1) do not have enough RAM on old workstations; and (2) you do not have enough bandwidth on your network; and/or (3) you need to upgrade your hardware network - switches, routers, cabling, etc.. • Missing Desktop tab

I wanted to change my background on my computer so I went to display to change to office... problem... I do not have a tab for the office, he just disappeared! That's happened? I accidentally remove it without knowing? How can I get that back?  I tried to go just to my photos and do a right-click on the photo I wanted to display as my background but it won't work! Thanks for all comments about what I did wrong.  Nicolafizz

I think it's cause of malware/Trojans, so I would go to your antivirus or antispyware and scan the pc first.

You can download superantispyware.com-Superantispyware and run it.

You can try these 2 bugs:

    (1) you must go to the registry editor using regedit and go to:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System

If there is a DWORD value as "NoDispScrSavPage' with a value 1 data this will disable the screensaver tab, change the value to 0 or delete it and your tab should be back, it works for one of the tabs that may be missed.

    (2) another fix for your problem is to click on the link below and scroll to the right column 285 online and download & run the .reg file fix "restore all display tabs. Save the REG file to your hard drive. Double click it and answer Yes to the import prompt.

  • Difficult to change default logon screensaver

I created a custom for Windows Vista Business SP2 screen saver.  I want to put my screensaver to default logon to be my new custom screensaver.  So I did some research and discovered that by changing the registry key hkeyuser\.default\control panel\desktop\SCREENSAVE. EXE to the path of my screensaver folder Vista uses instead of the Windows Vista logon.scr.  for some reason when vista goes to screen saver the screen goes black.  I checked that the custom screensaver works for any user who is logged.  However, it goes to black when nobody connects.

to do a little more troubleshooting I changed the screen saver to the windows Vista default (Ribbons.scr).  and I get this message:

  • In Windows 8, an error prevents the slideshow to play as screensaver, also error when playing YouTube videos and no sound on videos

Everything was working fine a week ago and I never changed anything, but my screen of sleep (Windows Live Photo Gallery), stopped working and I got this error message.  As it happened, when I try to play videos YouTube I get an error message and it tells me to try again later.  Videos in other formats will play, but there is no sound on any of them although when I run the maintenance program it says there is no problem with the sound.  I don't know which is the case because I tried some fixes, I found on the internet and the screensaver CAME and returning for a day, but then stopped working again the next day.

This question was asked before with earlier versions of Windows, but no one seems to have found a permanent solution?  Help, please.

    Hello

You can run the SFC tool and check if that helps. SFC/scannow is a very useful command that you can use in any version of Windows. When the SFC (System File Checker) command is used with the/scannow switch, the tool analyzes all the important files of Windows on your computer and replace if necessary. Missing and the corruption of the operating system (like many DLLs) files are probably the main cause of the major problems of Windows.

See the following steps to perform a scan SFC:

    (a) press the Windows key + X, select the prompt (Admin) to bring up the elevated command prompt.

    (b) in the command prompt, type the following command: sfc/scannow then press ENTER.

    (c) after the scan, restart the computer and check if the problem persists.

Response with the State of the question and we will be happy to offer you our help.

I have an iPhone 7 more than 128 GB. Unfortunately when I click on 'Video' app on my iPhone, all my music videos, that I bought from iTunes disappeared and moved to the application 'Music'. Now, it's really confusing. Apple seems to break the apps more than fixing. Why? before iOS 10 never comes, iOS 9 worked very well and all my music videos are in the 'Video' app, all my songs are in the "Music" app, not more, there now appear to be broken, involved putting each of them in the application 'music '. Even when I play the video clip in the application of the 'Video' on iOS 9 which usually have closed captions on it, now on iOS 10 in the application 'music' don't have it anymore. ITunes on my PC play subtitles on the music video, I need this back on my iPhone! I have total of 401 songs [for the most part, are ripped from my CDs and some songs are purchased from iTunes included music videos purchased on iTunes] and only 333 is transferred to my iPhone and 68 are missing. I get most videos music and songs that I bought in gray [68 of them are]. I even went to "Purchased" and redownload everything and it remains grayed out... I would also recommend you copy everything off of the camera, if you have not already.
