module SBUpdate on vista home no longer works

I run Vista Home on my PC. Every now and then the message arrives that the SBUPDATE has STOPPED WORKING. You are given two choices of MICROSOFT either by closing the module or that Microsoft will look for a solution. You can use one of the two choices given nothing that happens to solve the problem. Y at - there someone who can help me with this ongoing problem? Will be much appreciate.

Hey Kevin,

-Were there any changes made to the computer before the show?

I would suggest trying the following methods and check if it helps.

Method 1:
Start the computer in safe mode and check if you have the same problem that appears.

Start your computer in safe mode
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode

If the computer works very well in mode without failure, then follow method 2 and check.

Method 2:

Perform the clean boot and check.

How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135

Note: When you are finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual. See step 7 in the article.

Method 3:

Run a malware scan just to make sure that your computer is virus-free.

  • Installer of Modules of Windows Vista - Windows has stopped working... Configuration 3 of 3 to 0%

    original title: Windows Vista Ugh.

I have Windows Vista Home Premium on a laptop Gateway. I get the installer of Modules of Windows has stopped working and has been the error message closed as well as the configuration 3 of 3 0% starting upwards.  Thank God the restart of death cycle is no longer happens, but it always appears when I restart/start my computer.  I have tried almost everything that I found online to fix this, and yet I still have these questions. I can not install updates to Windows due to the fault of the Windows Modules Installer every 3 minutes and I can't install SP2 even when I tried the 64 bit version of stand alone for my computer.  I literally a novel of installs failed in my history of windows because of this update and I constantly receive error messages when you try to install the update SP2 failed. I don't know what else to try now that I tried the system restore, and none of the dates are far enough for these errors go away.  Help, please.

  • Satellite A200 - after the mouse USB Vista updates no longer works

After installing the latest updates Vista (KB938371), I discovered that my mouse USB (Genius Traveler) does not work. I can't restore the system (mistake) and this update cannot be removed. Other (flash disk) USB devices work correctly.

Could someone help me? Thank you.

Problem solved, I found this on another forum

    + Hi all, +.

+ I found the solution on another forum (forget which) and published this solution in multiple threads. The problem is, as indicated, a Human Interface Device in combination with update KB938371. After installing it, my usb mouse stopped working. Just go to the--> HID Device Manager - devices--> unknown device and looking for drivers. Vista won't find any drivers online, so you must get the drivers on your computer. The location of the driver (in most cases) will be C:/Windows/Winsxs. You will get a window saying: "this is an unsigned driver blah blah blah". Just install the driver. The mouse worked for me (even without reboot). +

  • Windows Vista Upgrade no longer works

Windows Update no longer works.  I have it set to auto, but nothing happens.  He just keeps showing "check updates".

    Any help would be appreciated.

Q: do you have AdwCleaner, JRT, MBAM and/or HitmanPro detect and quarantine/remove anything?
A: Yes. Tracking cookies, the residue of a previously deleted program and a number of potentially unwanted programs.

Very good - but this does not necessarily mean the computer is more infected. Speaking of which...

The computer connects to the internet through a router or a modem/router combo? If you it would sure be useful to reset (or, better still, reinstall) the device. Router fester, too!

Comments: It's one thing to get a computer fully patched. Get the update of Windows (and automatic update) works again, it's another. There yet, the Support extended (and updated) for Vista ends 5 five months from now (11 Apr-17) so you can be able to limp along until then by the update via Microsoft Update Catalog (or the Download Center).

  • Vista themes no longer works.

I recently installed a Windows update (update for Windows Vista for systems X 64 (KB2524375)) March 23, 2011, and it is Windows Aero and even Windows Vista Basic color schemes to no longer work. They can be selected, but the preview is black, and it does not change when I apply. It happened with the same update (update for Windows Vista (KB2505189)), on another computer of mine, with the same problem.

Edit: I also want to add that the system restore stopped working and restore points have been removed when I tried to come back before the installed update.
Edit #2: I looked in the services that are related to the Vista themes: Desktop Window Manager Session Manager and themes; but they both started and the startup type is set to automatic. I tried to restart these services, but that did nothing. Desktop Window Manager is running, but the theme does not work even then.
Edition #3: When I stop Desktop Window Manager, then restarted, but now the themes are no longer available for selection under color schemes.

  • Vista password no longer works.

When tried this appears, the user profile service service failed logon. User profile cannot be loaded.

This error can usually be fixed by following the steps below. All this requires a certain level of computer skills. You know better and that take the machine to a competent local computer tech (not a type of BigComputerStore/GeekSquad place) is the best solution for you.

1 log on to a different user account with administrative privileges. If you neglected to make an account additional administrative steps 2-3. Otherwise, continue to step 4. See also General information on setting up user accounts in Vista at the end of this post.

2 in Mode safe boot. This, by repeatedly pressing the F8 key as the computer starts. That you will get to the menu on the right where you can use your arrow key to select Mode safe [Enter]. The built-in Administrator account is disabled by default in Vista. However, if no other administrative accounts exist on the system it can be activated. If this is the case, you will see an icon for the administrator on the homescreen mode without failure. Login to the administrator.

3 If you don't see the icon for the administrator mode safe account, then the built-in Administrator account is always disabled so you will need to work more. If you have an installation of Vista DVD (not a recovery DVDs), you can start the system with it. Select the default language, then select "repair your computer". Then select "Command Prompt". At the command prompt, type:

NET user administrator / Active: Yes [Enter]

[Note: do not enter the brackets!]

If you do not have a Vista installation DVD (only have a recovery disk), the computer mftr. may have given you the option to repair Vista (not a system recovery!) system in the diagnostic menu. This menu of diagnosis is the same one where you can choose Safe Mode.  Or you can do a repair file Vista bootable DVD in this link:

    http://NeoSmart.net/blog/2008/Windows-Vista-recovery-disc-download/

Note: All the Neosmart recovery disk downloads are torrent files. There is a good explanation of the torrent on the site Web of Neosmart files. You will need a torrent as muTorrent client to get the files. Torrent client will download the .iso file with which to create the bootable DVD. You will need the third-party burning software such as Nero, Roxio or the free ImgBurn (www.imgburn.com ) to burn the .iso image image file, not in the form of data.

Now remove the rescue CD/DVD, you have done, reboot Windows and log on to the built-in Administrator account, you enabled.

    4. try a system restore to when things worked. If you can log in to your user account, you are finished. Otherwise, continue to step 5.

    5. the critical files are under % systemdrive%\users\user-account\ntuser. The ntuser.dat file is actually a registry hive. Run Regedit high and select HKEY_USERS and "load hive" in the menu. Now, go to:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList

There is a line for each profile. If a profile is bad, check:

    (a) that the name of the key does not stop in ".bak" (remove .bak If it)
    (b) that the RefCount value is 0 (change it if it is different)
    (c) that the State value is 0 (change if different)

Make the necessary changes, close Regedit and try to connect as this user.

    6. If that doesn't solve your profile, it is corrupt. When you do that, you should make a new Standard user account and copy your data to it. Do not delete the old account until you have recovered data you need!

Once everything works, go to the additional administrative account you will be made by the suggestions below and disable the administrator account integrated yet for security reasons:

Start Orb > Search box > type: cmd
When cmd appears in the above results, right-click and choose "Run as Administrator" [OK]. Now, you will get the command prompt. At the command prompt, type:

NET user administrator / active: No. [Enter]

    Exit the command prompt.

General recommendations for creating users in Vista

You absolutely don't want to have only one user account. As XP and all the other modern operating systems, Vista is a multi-user system with integrated system of accounts as default Administrator and comments. These accounts should be left alone because they are part of the structure of the operating system.

In particular, you do not want one account user with administrative privileges on Vista because the administrator account integrated (normally only used in emergencies) is disabled by default. If you use as an administrator for your daily work, and this account is corrupt, things will be difficult. It is not impossible to activate the built-in administrator to rescue things, but it can be more work you want to do. Better not to get into a bad situation at first.

The user account that is for your daily work must be a Standard user, with the extra administrative user (call it something like 'CompAdmin' or 'Tech' or similar) only it for elevation purposes. As a user Standard is recommended for security reasons and will help protect your computer against infections. After you have created "CompAdmin", connect to it and change your normal user account Standard. Then log on to your regular account.

If you want to go directly to the desktop and ignore the Welcome screen with the icons of the user accounts, you can do this:

Start Orb > Search box > type: netplwiz [Enter]
Click continue (or provide an administrator password) when you are prompted by UAC

Uncheck "users must enter a user name and password to use this computer". Select a user account to connect automatically by clicking on the account you want to highlight and press OK. Enter the password for this user account (when it exists) when you are prompted. Leave blank if there is no password (null).

  • XP Pro network suddenly no longer works

I have a home network with XP Pro and Vista Home.  It worked perfectly Friday and today (Tuesday) it won't let me access the XP machine.  I get the message "Windows cannot access (computer\dir)" the Details section: error code: 0 x 80070005 access denied.

I have not changed anything on each machine.  There are several users and the PC have some user accounts and passwords to different levels of access to different folders.  I am set up as an administrator with full rights to everything on the PC.  Both machines have all their updates installed including SP3 on the XP machine.  The two systems are configured with static IP addresses.

The XP machine has no problem accessing the Vista machine.  I was able to run a backup of the Vista PC to the files on the XP machine, but I have one authentication information in the backup program.  Unfortunately, it is not possible to define credentials for windows logon in Vista Home.  I have tried everything I can think about the past 5 hours including cutting the XP firewall and change the folder of shared access to everyone.  Help!  Anything with that anyone can come would be very appreciated.  I thought that maybe I could get XP to request a user name and password but I can't seem to find anything on that is.  Thanks in advance.

    Hello
    Maybe this can help.

I have a 32-bit Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop running Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2.  I also have Norton Internet Security, which expires on 27/02/2015.  I do not often use this laptop, but when I do I update and make sure that all is correct and up-to-date.  When I went to check my updates installed there not.  When I checked Windows Update update selection has been disabled.  I choose Check For Updates and a message came that it could not, because the service is not running.  I checked MSCONFIG and depending on whether the program was running.  There is no error code!  Then I ran the Microsoft Fix It program.  The main problem was not fixed, but have some unknown minor problems.  Computer laptop operating system has been pre-installed and never put.  Norton's anti-virus program used only on the computer!  Although I tried three times I couldn't send a troubleshooting report!  Before you run the difficulty this program I disabled the Smart of Norton Firewall and Antivirus so that there would be a problem!

It was suggested to delete all folders and files in the folder C: / / windows/C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution.  I am wary to do this, while others said that it worked for them.  Since it is a Windows folder, I'm not sure that there is not a better way to go!  I appreciate your help!  Marlene

    Internet Explorer is version 9.0.6.

Note: The computer must NOT be connected to the internet or local networks (i.e. other computers) for an extended period (i.e. more than a few minutes) in its current state. All your personal data (e.g., banking online & passwords credit card) must be considered at risk, if not already compromised.

Applications, (Norton and McAfee) are notorious for not not upgrade (or uninstalling) itself. Chances are that the "remains" of Norton here is your troublemaker.

Roll up your sleeves & cross your fingers...

    ACTIONS

[You may want to print these instructions for reference offline. IMPORTANT => NO SKIP & perform all the steps in a 1 uninterrupted session!  [If a step said to restart, restart! ]

1 right-click on the link, select SAVE TARGET as.... & download the Norton Removal Tool, save it to your desktop: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

    3. After completing some you have a copy of your handy product key, uninstall Norton Internet Security and LiveUpdate and all Norton Add ons via Start | Control Panel | Programs: Programs and features.

4 IMPORTANT! -Online make sure that the Windows Firewall is activated immediately after the reboot!  [Should be automatic, but I want you to check again.]

NB: Now you're "working without a net": do not to ANYTHING else online (e.g., navigation reading E-mail; cat) until you have finished step #7 below!

    5. right click on the file that you saved in #1 above and select run as administrator to run the utility, and then reboot again.

    6. do a clean install of Norton Internet Security v21.x (using your product ID, if need be) & reboot. CF. https://support.norton.com/sp/en/us/home/current/solutions/kb20090708112600EN_EndUserProfile_en_us?ct=us&entsrc=redirect_pubweb&lg=en&product=home&pvid=f-home&version=1

NOTE: do NOT activate or install Norton modules or toolbars (for example, Norton Anti-Phishing) immediately.

    8. right click on the following link and SAVE the download to your desktop: http://iefaq.info/attachments/133/ie8-rereg.zip [1]

    Note: Good for IE9, too.

8B. do a right-click on the file downloaded in # 9 a above (that is, ie8 - rereg.zip) and EXTRACT its contents to the desktop. This will create a new folder on your desktop named ie8-rereg.

    8. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the task bar), open the new folder created in # 9 b above, double-click on the file ie8 - rereg.cmd to run the script and restart.

    9. reset Internet Explorer settings according to the instructions on this page: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737

  • Bluetooth doesn't work does not correctly after the installation of Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2 (SP2) on Dell laptop

I searched this forum and almost all resources on the net for days now nothing works.  Give the message to a thread more appropriate that I couldn't find one that is truly representative and am a newb at this.

Summary of the problem: Bluetooth connectivity does not work properly after the window Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1 and 2 installation (SP 1 and 2).

    My system:

Laptop Dell Inspiron E1705, 32-bit Winows Vista Home Premium SP2, Dell Wireless Bluetooth 355 Module + EDR 2.0

    * My system was purchased in 2006 with Windows XP, but was not entitled to a free Windows Vista Home Premium Upgrade I did. I installed Windows Service Pack 1 and 2 about a week ago.

Problem: After downloading and installing the Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1 and 2 (SP 1 and 2), my system does not recognize my Bluetooth (a touch of Sprint also) device known as the HTC Vogue.  I stress that I have not had any problems with this device before downloads.  I can't revert to the pre - SP State 1 and 2 because my system restore does not have these points more.

I have read several posts on various sites about people having similar problems with Bluetooth connectivity after the Vista SP 1 and 2 facilities.  The problem is obviously the need for an updated driver.  I went to the site to download driver Dell and the Blueooth only updates available are the following. (Note: these drivers all date from 2006 and 2007).

    http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&cs=RC956904&l=en&s=pub&SystemID=INS_PNT_P4_9400&os=WLH&osl=en&servicetag=&catid=-1&impid=-1&deviceid=12084&libid=5&typeid=-1&dateid=-1&formatid=-1&source=-1&releaseid=R159805&formatcnt=1&vercnt=1

I had these installed before the SP 1 and 2 have been installed and they worked very well. After the upgrade, these drivers do not work.  They won't recognise BT devices.  I tried to upgrade the drivers by using update Broadcom suggested below it, but an error of following installation to contact Dell.

    http://www.Broadcom.com/support/Bluetooth/update.php

I contacted Dell via e-mail and on the phone, but they want to charge me $60 for a one time service call just to talk about the problem because my warranty has expired. Provide updated drivers is not a problem of security in my opinion.  Even after explaining the situation, their continuous support to just send me the link to download Driver Dell above with out-of-date drivers.  I guess that's what they are charged to do, they do not have to admit a problem of compatibility.  This obviously the same link they would charge $60 to send.  I explained that I need just a Bluetooth Driver from Dell to at least version 6.3.   Needless to say, I will never buy another Dell product.

On my end, I tried to uninstall my current drivers and then by installing a newer driver to support Gateway (Version 6.2.1.500 for and Acer).  This allows me to install some parts of this update and the update Broadcom. However, it is not a perfect installation and expires after about 90% saying "this update is not for this system" because it is the gateway not Dell to be provided.  Displays the version of the driver on my computer is Version 6.3.5.430 after doing this, but it is not a complete installation and some features are not available.

Does anyone have experience with this issue? I would like to have a link with some bluetooth drivers generic Version 6.3 type which will allow me to use the Broadcom link to upgrade to the last version that works with Vista SP 1 and 2.

    Thank you for your help.
