Monitoring of disk capacity

Hi all
I have a question about the «left disk space» tracking options I have a mixed environment: two VCs with 100 virtual machines and another 70 physical systems. What I did to monitor everything, was vFogl attached to two VCs and also installed the fglam on all physical systems and created agent winSys for physical systems.
What I recognized, is the fact that there are different rules to monitor virtual machine and systems with an agent. For VMs, it is the rule "VMW Virtual Machine logical drive fill rated time" and for the agent on the system phys. "ability".
But I also want to watch the 'capacity' of my virtual machines disk space. Do I have to install the agent on these virtual machines, & fglam also?
The background of this issue, it is that our IT support team needs to be enlightened (e-mail on mobile phone), if there is a problem with a smaller disk capacity.
Thanks in advance for your help,
Patrik

Patrik,
Discover the rule of the use of the logical disk VMW Virtual Machine. Looks like what you are looking for, and it is already in the product.
VMware tools need to installed and updated on the VMs for this to work, as is, how get the operating system of the host ESX and VC info from the virtual machine level.
If this isn't possible, fglam and one officer of the BONE is your option.

  • Windows that display only half of the disk capacity

I have a new laptop HP EliteBook with Windows 7 SP1 is installed. SSD has 500 GB, but the system is only half of the disk capacity show.

What can we do?  Thank you.

CHKDSK discovered...  0 KB in bad sectors. 719099 KB in use by the system. 65536 KB occupied by the log file. 89854676 KB available on disk. 4 096 bytes in each allocation units total 60636159 the disk allocation unit. 22463669 allocation units available on disk.

Coincidentally reduce then extend the volume again?

CHKDSK is essentially a tool of file system and the capacity of the disc that you see in the Explorer disc property is actually the size of the file system rather than the physical size of the volume, the physical size of the volume is based on the head of sector, while the size of the file system is based on the number of clusters (allocation units).  The file system has a total of clusters 60636159 x 4096 bytes = 248,365,707,264 bytes.

Different size according to the different tools are both correct, but the file system is not using the entire partition, you need to extend the file system with the Diskpart tool.

At a command prompt, enter the following commands:

    C:\ > DISKPART
    DISKPART > list Volume
DISKPART > select volume c (here, you can use the figures given by the Volume of the order list or use the actual letter of the volume, in your case 'c')

    DISKPART > extend filesystem
    DISKPART > exit (exit Diskpart)

Here is a screenshot of the procedure:

The file system extension is relatively safe, but as always you should ensure that you have a good backup of your files before doing any kind of work of system disk/partition or file.

  • Error: the capacity of the disk virtual parent and the child disk capacity are different (67).

    Hello

I tried to increase the hard drive of a machine space of 10 GB for a 20 GB virtual linux. I closed down the VM, then ssh was in the ESXi server. From there on, I ran the command:

    vmkfstools x 20 G Apatite.vmdk

The command was executed successfully. Then, when I turned on the virtual machine I had and still do me:

Reason: The capacity of the disk virtual parent and the child disk capacity are different.
Cannot open disk ' / vmfs/volumes/503fd5b8-d1cef086-eb4a-10bf487b38db/Apatite/Apatite-000001.vmdk' or one of the snapshot disks it depends on.

I tried many things such as the cloning of the Apatite.vmdk of Apatite - repaired.vmdk. That works, however, I get an old version of the virtual machine. I do not receive my changes of Apatite - 000001.vmdk or Apatite-000001 - delta.vmdk.

I have a very important job on my VM that I am restoring. I should have backed up before doing anything else I've done. Now, it seems that I pay the price.

Can someone help me get my VM? Is it possible to increase the size of the snapshot (Apatite - 000001.vmdk) or reduce the size of the parent so that they match, and the virtual machine start?

    Help, please.

    Thank you

Hello. I want to improve my Dell Inspiron N4030 (with processor Pentium, running Windows 7 Ultimate) with the maximum requirements permitted by the system, but I have heard different maximum specifications from different sources, and I can't find any official information from Dell to know with certainty what is compatible. The website that I buy (crucial.com) components guarantees that I can use a modules 1 TB of semiconductors by car and 2 x 4 GB of RAM without problem, but I also heard that 6 GB of RAM and 500 GB of HARD drive space is what the system will accept.

These are the components that I want to use:

  • Monitor the disk usage

How to monitor the use of the disc?  I don't see where to add it to the inventory and others.

    Thank you

Use of the disk is under "FileServer Mount", you will find 'Total bytes free' and 'Use per cent'.

  • persistent disk capacity has not increased

    Hello

My quality of view office is almost at its maximum capacity, I wish to bring to 2 GB.

I tried to change the size of the disc continued its pool to 20480 MB but no change. Office as persistent disc view is still 2 GB. I need to change my virtual disk of individual desktop view instance (linked clone) for persistent 20 GB disk and extend it with diskpart?

Yes, the change will not take place on new desktop computers that are created.  For an existing desktop computer, you will need to update the persistent drive by modifying the virtual machine settings, increasing and then something using the to expand inside the BONE.

  • Fusion is stopped because the virtual hard disk capacity is reached

I run Windows XP Pro in a virtual machine with the German Fusion 3.1.1 on my MacBook 13 "with Mac OS X 10.6.2.

When I try to start Windows the VM said: "VMware Fusion has the virtual machine is stopped, because the capacity of the hard drive (40 GB) is almost reached."

But this Windows disk management in the first partition 'Win XP Pro' 15 GB to 30 GB are free. And on the second partition 'Install' 8 GB to 10 GB are free.

I took the snapshot on the virtual machine and have managed hard disk cleanup. But it does not help. Fusion said I do free 1.2 MB capacity of the virtual hard disk. How can I do this, when the merger does not start?

The opportunity to make more the virtual hard disk of 40 GB to 50 or 60 GB is blocked, I first have to delete the snapshot. But the snapshot is deleted.

What can I make Fusion work again?

I doubt that what you quoted is the message itself, so it would be more useful if you attach the .log files.  See information for VMware Fusion to help with that.  Howevere...

I bet that the message is more like "VMware Fusion has suspended this virtual machine because the disk on which the virtual machine is stored is almost full. To continue, free at least MB of disk space. "and as such, you must do exactly what means the message and that is free space hard disk Macintosh not space inside the VHD.  After all, it's the Mackintosh HD stored on the Virtual Machine, isn't?

  • Can not read the HARD disk capacity properly after the upgrade on my Satellite A135-S2276

I have a Satellite A135-S2276 and I recently updated my 80 gig HDD with a 320 GB HARD drive and drive C shows only 72 GB of available not the 300 - ish that it should have. I did some research and it seems that it should be there, perhaps simply not visible? Update the BIOS?

    Any suggetions?

    Thank you!

    Hello

I think that the A135-S2276 supports SATA HDD so I doubt that the issue of the LBA48bit could be the reason.

I found the details here on the Toshiba page we:
    http://www.CSD.Toshiba.com/cgi-bin/TAIS/support/JSP/modelContent.jsp?CT=DL&OS=&category=&MOID=1596141& rpn = PSAD6U & modelFilter = A135-S2276 & SelCategorie = 3 & selFamily = 1073768663

In your case, I would recommend formatting the disk HARD whole again.
In addition, you should check the size of the HARD drive in the BIOS.

Generally, if the HARD drive has been recognised in the BIOS correctly then the OS should see all 320GB too.

  • Satellite A100-192: after Vista installation HARD disk capacity has decreased

I am a user of Satellite A100-192 with 120 GB hard drive. After I installed Vista Ultimate, I saw this total capacity of my hard drive completely passed to 92, 8 GB instead of 120 GB while it was XP.

What can be the problem? How can I reach the other capabilities of my hard drive?

    Hello

Vista needs and used 2 partitions. The second partition is not visible and it s necessary to Vista backup and restore functions.
Maybe you have verified that the size of the first partition (C) and didn't note the size of the second partition.

    Hello

Well, as far as I know, this unit is designed for a Japanese market.
In this case you will not be able to find the drivers for this unit on the European site of Toshiba.
I also checked the other sites of Toshiba but unsuccessfully ;(
I guess you must visit the Toshiba site to the Japan. Maybe you will find some information on this laptop.

    Hi @HEMI7309!

Yes, you can use both your motherboard SATA ports and connect two hard drives. Regarding the cables, you can check for some extra power and data cables connect the drives with.

Hope this helps, and feel free to ask any questions you may have.

  • Newbie question: hard disk capacity

    Hello

I have 4 x 73 GB HARD drive and when I installed VMWare he showed me only 2 drives each with a capacity of 63 GB about (I don't know the exact but close to this number). I wanted to build at least 3 to 4 VM thinking that would be enough, but after the installation, I think it shows only 63 GB and I couldn't create 1VM with a size of 40 GB for my Windows Server 2012. What Miss me? Is the other HDD 2 installed summer under parity or what? Not sure, it's been long that I played with the material side. Get at least 146 GB total even in the worst case? Help!

    Thanks in advance

IIRC the G5 models were introduced in 2006 or 2007 and has a controller E200 or SmartArray P400. In any case, press F8 when the RAID controller is all by starting the server should get you to ORCA (Option ROM Configuration for berries) where you can set the RAID configuration. Did you only need SmartStart CD if you want for example to configure multiple logical volumes on the RAID sets, as the ORCA will create just a single logical volume once you have installed a RAID set.
