  Good news is that there is a difficulty.

  I was given further guidance to Support cat HP, including a link to the page software and downloads.  This shows a new BIOS Softpaq, which has not been suggested by HP Support Assistant. Details of the update of the BIOS are;

  the limit, no Windows, and not your e-mail program.

• 16 disks table PS5000 Sata - Raid for better performance and more capacity

  Good afternoon all

  I studied the whims of the various raid options and I was wondering if anyone has any practical idea using tables PS5000 SATA?  Basically, the table will backup disks to virtual machines as well as Raid would be preferable for the performance and capacity?  I was thinking 50 Raid or Raid 6, that the table is at a distance of my office in one data center so that there could be 2 failures before the disaster...

  Hi Eric,.

  'best' depends entirely on the expected I/O model.  Small random writes should use R10.  RAID50 is usually a good compromise on space and performance.  But it has the risk of a double RAIDset faillée down.

  Another factor is that the PS5000 is end of life.  No support, firmware or parts of long term.  Help to off the shelf drives add uncertainty to the reliability of the table.   I would never use one of these for primary production so data.  To provide the best protection in this case, I would use only RAID6.   R10 would be down, but may suffer and failed with two failed disks in the mirror of the same value.

• X 40-replacement hard drive for more capacity - CD

  I have a 40 X, which works fine, but I continue to faced with 15 GB hard drive capacity, so now have a replacement of 60 GB.

  Find a CD with Windows XP and especially the drivers on this subject, I can't.  Looking at the other sections of the forum, I start to think that a CD was not necessarily initially sent with the X 40.

  If this is not the case, how can I create a CD with the drivers and the Windows original XP?

  If a CD is provided with the system, how can I get a replacement if outside the warranty period?

  I had the same problem with my x 40. I bought a device cloning for 45.00 on ebay and was able to clone the larger hard drive and it worked. It validates, it is still a legal system as far as microsoft is concerned. I used it on ibms, valleys and a gateway. what you do, is leave your old hard drive in your computer and attach your new appliance of cloning. He will hold through the usb port and will copy all of your old drive to the new. It will leave everything on your old drive and you can keep it for a backup in case something happens to the new. the device is called an alley to apricorn, the accompanying software is called ez gig II cloning software. There are 3 different connections on the device you can clone any hard drive that is done.  your drivers will copy, your files, movies, all programs, it will be just copied to the new.  If you don't want to install the software on your old drive because you do not have the room for it, you can go into bios and set your computer to boot from a cd drive, and you can start from the cloning software.  It takes about half an hour to clone your drive.  I was buy x40s on ebay without hard drives and cloning of new readers with my original drive and then install the new readers and all valid by microsoft. It works really, and I believe that it's the only way to do it.  Apricorn has a web site where you can no doubt but it but its cheaper on ebay.

  In my opinion there is no reason to panic. This is just information and you must not take it so seriously. Continue to use the free space on the D partition. When the disk is full, you must find new option for backing up the data.
  For this application, you can buy external HARD drive and move all your important data to make the free space on the HARD drive for the use of every day.

  TEMPRO is application that runs in the background and informs the user about available updates or situation on your laptop. To be honest I don't use it at all because I know when the HARD drive is filled or not. I have Tempro removed from the system.

  My laptop works well and stable. So it works well I have need of updates.

  This drive letter and other parameters can just confuse you.
  Simply continue to use your laptop and be happy with it.

  I know that this has also been discussed in other threads, but still things are not clear to me.

  I store data with space set aside almost two times more capacity and about 30 GB of free.

  I understand that space put into service can be more if I have a provisioning, but this isn't the case. Thick, all my machines are put into service.
  The next thing are snapshots. I have pictures so probably that's why I put into service space more than my abilities.

  What don't get me, is how I still get free space... I mean that snapshots take up real space. If I have a 50 GB HD a snapshot 1 50 GB is created. So, normally, in my opinion, I would actually have 100 GB of storage used and a - Let's say - 60 GB datastore which means I have no available space...

  I miss something here?

  A snapshot in VMware products contains only deltas, i.e. becomes the parent disk. A snapshot starts with a small file and develops over time. Since it can grow to the size of the virtual disk that is put into service, the maximum size is added to the space put into service that appears in the summary virtual machines.

  Just a quick comment for "all snapshots are by default thin stocked... ». It's not exactly how it is. Provisioning is a feature of system files and used only for disks virtual base. Snapshots use a fragmented, file format which consists of blocks of metadata database and checked.

  What is the maximum capacity of the drives supported by this laptop?

  I also found information that only this works of hard drives on this laptop.
  Reference number: P000218890; P000224210 and P000228760

  Three hard disks are about 1.3 GB. Unfortunately, I don t I think that the biggest hard drives work

  To my knowledge, there is no limitation of the capacity of the HARD disk since the SATA controller is used and the SATA controller should support over 400GB.

• Satellite M105 - replacement hard drive capacity problem

  Hello, I recently installed a new hard drive of 320 GB (Seagate Momentus ST9320421AS) in my Toshiba Satellite M105-S3041 laptop to replace the original 80 GB drive.

  I use Windows XP Service Pack 3 and the latest firmware (v2.90).

  However, the new drive is restricted in some way to only about 130 GB.

  The size is not reported in the BIOS, just the model number of the drive. Utility disk management Windows reports the size as: go 127,81 and using a Live CD of Ubuntu Linux and Seagate Seatools reports also this drive must be about 130GB.

  So, I think that it is a BIOS or hardware problem. Can do something to allow me to use the full capacity of this disc?

  As far as I know that some specialists PC uses special tools to manipulate of the BIOS and the ability of the entire HARD disk can be used. But I really don t know what you can do.
  In my opinion, you need to use maximum supported HARD drive, but if you need more capacity for private data, you must use an external 2.5 HDD.

  Friend of mine has bought yesterday 400 GB 2.5 for 99 Euros only. It's a really good investment.

• Z400: Z400 (1st generation) ram downclocking

  Been using my Z400 with Xeon w3750 & 2 x DDR3 10600 4 GB. Decided to buy 2 x DDR3 10600 4 GB maximum memory support capacity which is 16 GB.

  But I noticed when I maximize the capacity of the memory of all 4 slots populated, the speed of the rams are downclock 666 MHz to 533 Mhz.  If I had to run 3 slots 3xDDR3 10600 4 GB, it seems, execution of a fine to 666 MHz.

  What gives? is the design of the motherboard to do?

  I'm sorry, I gave answers that were too technical.  I'll try to explain the Z400 memory works.

  For more performance memory, the Z400 (Z600 and Z800) have 3 channels 'memory '.  Because the processors are getting faster, a way to get data from memory to the processor is to create separate, channels which can be consulted to ensure bandwidth total memory has grown from a single DIMM memory to several at the same time (a simple explanation) DIMMs.  Thus, approximately, with 3 channels memory bandwidth is (slightly less than) 3 times that of only one MEMORY card.

  There are a few rules configuration.  For maximum performance, each channel must have the same type and size of memory DIMMS.  This means that for a maximum bandwidth on the Z400, 3 identical DIMMS must be installed, one on each channel.

  However, 3 is an odd number.  Most of the people think about installing memory in numbers, such as 4, 8 or 16 GB.  Intel has designed this system with 3 channels, so 12 GB is optimal, but this isn't what most expect a computer to support.  Given that many expect to have 16GB instead of 12 GB, another DIMM connector was added to a channel on the Z400.  This is why there are 4 connectors and 3 channels on the Z400.

  There is a trade-off.  DIMMs greater located in a channel, the more the load power.  This affects the integrity of the signal and can slow down the signals (caused by more capacity), so the BIOS will downclock memory when he sees more than 1 DIMM on a channel to improve reliability.  This code is provided by Intel and is what Intel is recommended.

  There are trade-offs between speed and memory capacity.  [Note: some servers have 3 DIMMs per channel, and the memory speeds with 1 DIMM, downclocked with 2 DIMM slots and downclocked a quantity of futher with 3 modules DIMM per channel.]

  So, what it means for you.  Band bandwidth maximum memory occurs when 3 identical DIMMS are installed in the XMM1, XMM2 and XMM3 connectors.  Go XMM4 (the one closest to the CPU) empty - this is the second connector on a single channel.  The 3 modules DIMM will be held at 666 MHz.  Adding a 4th DIMM in XMM4 increases memory, but the speed will downclock at 533 MHz.  HOWEVER, memory performance is more than a simple speed of memory.  If you run a benchmark of bandwidth memory, you will see that band memory bandwidth (approximately) double with 2 DIMMS installed and triples (approximately) with 3 DIMMs installed.  In fact, strip memory bandwidth can decrease with 4 DIMMS installed.

  Thus, identical DIMM 4 GB 3 gives a maximum bandwidth.  Adding a fourth DIMM will decrease performance, but some applications will benefit from more memory.  For maximum performance of memory, do not install a MEMORY card in the connector closest to the CPU.

  FYI, Z420 and Z440 have 4 memory channels, so now users can think in groups of 4 and no 3.   ;-)

  I talked with a great Sandisk tech person (Bravo Jacob K.) and he said mine on the left is simply old label.  Sandisk website does not show this map of 80 MB "Extreme."

  The card that I got for $19.99 is actually an EXTREME PLUS card with EXTREME labelling and pricing.   Fix?

  2. my new camera is a S110 cannon that "pourrait" work fine with just the Ultra 30 MB.  Is this 80 MB card no problem for the S110 or my old computer which probably isn't 2.0 USB 3.0.

  3. with regard to the speed of card: this card faster, IE 80 MB vs 30 or 45 MB, maybe a worse choice for a reason any?   Reliability, accuracy of data, service life, etc...    I ask because sometimes more is not better.  I remember student years of writable DVD and sometimes actually performing slower versions than the more recent/more rapid versions.

  After some research, there is a change of label at one time.  The 80 MB extreme is extreme more than 80 MB.

  It's a little confusing, but it is not serious.  And, reading all the reviews from Amazon, it seems that this card is excellent.  People get different results of speed in real life according to what equipment they use in.

  Best Buy price, however, is a little interesting.  Get the version of 80 MB for the price of 45 mb during cyber week.

  Take care.   Changes of SD card about the speed/size/prices are crazy from just 2 years ago.  Memory is SO cheap!
