Mother now blind, doesn't remember password

My 76 yo mother bought an ipad pro. About two weeks later, the retina in his operation a ripped off, leaving essentially blind eye. She sent me to use, but it has absolutely no recollection of what is an access code. (she admits she had no business, buying an ipad in the first instance). Am I right in thinking it is pointless at this stage? She got at best buy (ugh) and said that they had not indicated its top with icloud account. I would like to send back to his return, but I'm not even sure she could at this stage. Thanks for your thoughts!

Am I right in thinking it is pointless at this stage?

If the computer is on an Internet connection, you can reset the password on the Windows Password Reset site.  If the PC is not online right now if that won't work because it doesn't 'knows' the new password.

If there is another user account on the computer that has admin access, you can use it to reset your own password from the control panel.

If there is no other user accounts, there are a built-in backup Administrator account, but for security reasons, you can only get to Safe Mode.

  • Why is the box to remember password is gray? It used to work now it won't save them.

Why is the box to remember password is gray? It used to work now it won't save them.

This could be because you have set Firefox not remember the history. Who did you intentionally? It is defined in the Options dialog box:

"3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Options > privacy

Maybe it would work if you choose "Use the custom settings for history" and not to turn off specific things that you want to disable.

    A little luck?

"Remember Me" for the site connections automatically when you return to the Web site is done with a Cookie the site in Firefox.

Try to clear your Cookies for this Web site.

Tools > Options-> life privacy - Cookies = the button show Cookies.

You must use the custom settings for history at the top of this tab to see the View the Cookies button.

Enter the domain name in the top search bar and all Cookies for this URL will be displayed. Unless you can figure out which is Cookie to "remember me", you will need to delete them all.

Hold the {Ctrl} key while you click each Cookie in the small window. When this list is all highlighted, click the Cookie delete button at the bottom left.
When you are finished click Close.

  • Firefox does not remember my cookies, even if I choose history does not forget and remember passwords for sites.

I choose to remember the story in the Privacy tab and remember passwords for sites on the Security tab in the Options, but when I close Firefox, it doesn't remember my cookies and I have to make the connections manually everytime I open Firefox.

In case you use "clear history of Firefox closing:

    • do not delete 'Cookies' and 'Site preferences.

Note that compensation "Preferences of Site" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, windows pop up, installation of software and passwords.

If clearing cookies doesn't work, then it is possible that the cookies.sqlite file that stores the cookies is corrupted.

Rename (or delete) cookies.sqlite (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete other files to present as cookie cookies.sqlite - journal in the profile folder of Firefox in the case where the cookies.sqlite file has been corrupted.

  • Impossible to get Firefox to remember passwords

Recently, I had a total crash. Reference Dell should replace the entire machine. On the older machine I was running Windows 7 Ultimate, 64-bit. Now I'm on Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. On the older machine Firefox asked if I wanted to that it to remember the password. On the new machine that does not happen. "Remember passwords for Sites" is turned on. I'm not running in private browsing mode. I had to give up Firefox and go back to IE. Is not a happy choice.

Have you moved all the files from the old computer to the new computer or did you start with a new Firefox profile?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance).

    • Do not click on the reset button on the start safe mode window or make changes.

It is possible that there is a problem with key3db and signons.sqlite files that store the encrypted names and passwords in Firefox.

In the Firefox profile folder, rename the files key3db and signons.sqlite.

You can add .old files (key3.db.old and signons.sqlite.old) names or move them to another folder to make it possible to cancel the action.

You must define a new master password after renaming or removing the signons3.txt and all the currently saved passwords are lost.

If that worked, then you can delete the renamed files that are no longer needed.
