In other words, you must purchase a license of Windows genuine for your machine, 8.1 Windows or Windows 7, depending on whether you want to.

Because Windows 7 is in limited stock because Microsoft ended sales in October 2013, this created demand due to its rarity. This means the retail boxed copies request a bonus, while the OEM System Builder copies remain affordable.

    Full version (retail):

-Includes the rights of transfer to another computer.

-Does not require a qualifying earlier version of Windows.

    -Expensive

    OEM System Builder version:

The OEM of Windows 7 versions are identical to the versions commercial full license with the following exception:

-OEM versions don't offer any free direct support from Microsoft technical support Microsoft

-OEM Licenses are tied to the computer first you install and activate it on

-OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard

  • Replacement motherboard now, windows XP will not activate, everything remained the same.

Our computer crashed, then we realised the motherboard was faulty, then we replaced. After starting the computer, everything went well, windows said to activate before it could begin. We went through the activation by phone, but he said, that he could not activate. We have not changed anything in the computer except the motherboard, is there a way to get this reactive?

As Noel mentioned, if the XP is initially pre-installed on this PC, it is an OEM version and is linked to the computer (specifically the motherboard of the PC).

However, if it is not an OEM version, while the question is perhaps that you have to re - activate by phone.

  • Windows by mistake "not geniune" after inserting the old drive C:\

    I'm so frustrated!

Today, I inserted the old SSD drive (that used to have Windows 7 on it) via a USB cable, so I can format it and use it for something else.

This is the system drive that I cloned on a SSD drive more when I ran out of space.

Now, since I inserted the disc, the Windows screen turned black and says it's 'not real' - but that is wrong, it is authentic!

My Office 2010 no longer works now, he also pointed out that the ex officio license is not valid.

I want to call Microsoft today and express my frustration, but I can not even find the number to call, because it is said to follow the news of dialogue in the control panel to find the activation number.

This is nonsense, I have so many other things to do today than to deal with this...

That's right - you may have found my name attached to a few thousand of these results as well

Changes in system slightly depending on whether you have installed or not - KB971033 and install ramp sensitivity a bit.

Essentially, without the installed update, Windows will only make internal controls (almost exclusively to boot or wake up time). The WAT (KB971033) update also makes periodic analyses (normally every 90 days) using 'definitions' downloaded from MS who specifically search Activation Exploits known and blocked the keys.

Changes in the hardware configuration will trigger a scan license - I'm just surprised that attaching a USB drive is triggered the trigger, as it never did for me.

    Hi Kenj,

This problem may occur if you perform a hardware important change to your computer, such as upgrading the hard disk. If a major hardware change requires activatingWindows once again, you will be notified and will have three days to activate your copy of windows.

Another common cause of failed Windows validation occurs when you try to install on more computers than your license allows. For example, if you have purchased a copy of windows, installed on the PC more than one online validation may fail because the product key has already been used on another computer. Normally, the rule for most windows copies is that only one copy of Windows can be installed on a PC. Go toMicrosoftVolume Licensingto learn what your license allows.

I suggest you refer to the suggestions provided by Andre Da Costa replied on 9 December 2012 in the following link and check out them.

  • Replace the motherboard only Windows 7

My tale of woe: my wife and I love to play Poker Online and communicate with our children and grandchildren by e-mail and Skype.  However, it seems that because we bought a laptop Compaq CQ61 cheap Gray online auctions, we are now in a bit of a pickle.  We bought the laptop used with 12 months warranty from factory and it lasted 18 months only, in other words just out of warranty.  The laptop wouldn't turn on one morning and had a horrible smell of burning plastic, I myself am immediately turned it off.  Be retired we could not afford a new laptop, so I decided to have a look for me to see if I could do something.

After a few hours of disassembly of the laptop, I discovered that there was an area on the motherboard that has been burned to a crisp.  Being somewhat handy I looked on ebay and to my surprise, I found an exact match for the motherboard to $160. Do not think of any other possible consequences, I ordered the M/B as the cheapest option.  About a week later the renovated Intel M/B happened and I went to transfer the old M/B to the new items.

About a day later I pressed the button ON and to my amazement, he lit in windows 7.  This is where my problems started.  After a few starts, it displays all of a sudden in the bottom right of the screen:

    Windows 7
    Build 7601
This copy of windows is not genuine

As well as this occasionally at the start, he appears with the message saying "this copy of Windows is not genuine" and shows a screen trying to find a solution.

I called the center of Activation Microsoft phone and told me that this copy of windows is linked to the M/B.  The M/B is the only bit that I replaced.  It has the same processor and the heat sink, has the same fan, he has the same drive, the same same chip memory 2 GB, it has the same wireless card but because the motherboard has been changed, now it's different.

This sound like the old problem of axe. The handle has been changed seven times and the head was changed three times, but I know it's the same axe because I cut down a tree with her and it's the only one I have.

The Microsoft representative said that if I had a windows recovery disk, he might have able to help me, but the only disc that was given to me with the laptop was a cardboard cut-out, explaining how to do a restore of Windows 7 and make a recovery disk.  He also said that I could simply ignore the message.

The only other problems I have is that my HDD ATA internal and my CD/DVD drive now appear in devices and printers
and as an icon to remove the device safely on my taskbar.  Research on the forum, this could be a problem of drivers.
The only number on my laptop is Presario CQ61 on the front and Serial No. CNF9122FQP and a product no. NT350EA #ABU on the back on the tile and the lower part of the HP Support Assistant.  None of these numbers present on the HP site.

Does anyone know what are my options, can I get a CD of windows 7 HP recovery, if so how? If I do get one then I'll be able to re-activare my copy of Windows 7.  If it sparkles on my only options would be to load a legitimate copy of Windows 2000 that I have or load Ubuntu 11.04, advice?

    This produced many leads here:

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/WC/product?product=3927381&CC=US&DLC=en&LC=en&Query=NT350EA&Tool=

HP recovery disks will not work on a motherboard not original. Ubuntu may be your best choice if you can not afford the retail of Windows 7.

  • Windows 7 does not start with the new msi motherboard

Yesterday, I bought a new motherboard, processor and 8g of ram in my computer. After all what adjustment and replacement of my old motherboard with the new, I started my computer to find that Windows 7 unbootable not. Instead of windows 7, I get the screen click on BIOS II (2). The configuration screen allows me to launch Winki but not Windows 7 because it was not found. The motherboard came with a utility disk drivers msi and AMD chipset which, when inserted in my hard disk, loads up to Winki. This version of windows 7 (Home Premium 64-bit) came pre-installed with my old mother/computer(Thus, I do not have the windows 7 installation disk) card. Is there a way I need to activate Windows 7 on my new motherboard?

    Hello

Well, you have some problems. First of all, with a new motherboard you need a new copy of Windows - not only the DVD, but a whole new product key must be purchased. It's just the terms of the license: a new motherboard is equivalent to a new computer, and each computer must have its own copy of Windows.

So where you buy your copy of Windows 7, I would make sure that it came with a DVD image. Otherwise, you can tell us which version of Windows 7 you (will) actually buy, and we can send you a link to the copy of the DVD for this version of Windows 7.

To purchase a copy of Windows 7 you can check Newegg.com, here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Order=BESTMATCH&Description=windows+7&N=-1&isNodeId=1 .

I hope that answers your question.

    Kind regards

  • Windows Update does not work after the hard drive has been replaced

    Hello
I have the same problem, replaced in my Toshiba HD, rebuild from Sysimage, Windows Update does not work. A ran "fix the problem with the Microsoft Windows Update is not working.
    Problem still exist.
The message that I got while trying to update: "Windows Update cannot currently check updates,
because the service is not running. "You may need to restart you computer.
Stop and then restart the service, still no luck.

I ran Windows troubleshooting. He finds two problems with Windows Update components, it corrects.
    The problem still exists.

    The other post:

    Another interesting fact:
After the reconstruction the new disk, user account control does not recognize Windows programs.
for example: execution of Perfmon.exe, the Publisher is unknown! However, when I download the program Windows FixIt, Publisher is recognized as Microsoft Windows. It seems that user account control does not recognize the Windows programs that had found the new HD, but acknowledges those who is downloaded from the internet.
I guess there is a problem with the license, Windows was preinstalled on the Toshiba and replace the hard drive could have caused a few conflicts of licensing.

The same problem. Cloned old HD on a larger hard drive. Everything worked perfectly except NO indexing and update WITHOUT windows - the two recurring problems that seem to appear on the forums after a change of hard disk.

INDEXING resolved with change to "Intel rapid storage technology." Google what I put in quotes, choose the Download Center and get the specific to your OP and the controller software.

UPDATES have been a little more frustrating. The microsoft .fixes and convenience stores were without help.

Go to control panel / system and Maintenance / administration tools

    Select Services

Stop the Background Intelligent Transfer Service

    Stop Windows Update

In 'My Computer' go to Windows / Software Distribution

Right-click "DataStore" folder. Rename it to Datastore.old

    Rename the folder 'Download' Download.old

Return to Services and restart the Background Intelligent Transfer Service and Windows Update.

Look for the updates. It will take some time because you deleted the database.

    I hope this helps!

Try this instead and explain your situation to a live person.

1 / click on the Start button.

2 / in the Search box type: slui.exe 4 and press enter.

3 / in the find window available for activation phone number, select the nearest location where you lie in the location box. You can click the arrow to the right of the location box to expand your choice of venues.

4 / once you have selected your location, click Next.

5 / If the user account control box, click continue or, if you are not the administrator, type in the username and password for permission to continue.

6 / the window Activate Windows now will appear indicating the phone number you are dealing with a series of installation identification numbers.

7 / now compose the activation number is displayed on the screen. The phone number is free of charge (telephone), unless otherwise stated.

8 / you understand that, initially, the line of Activation is Automatic, so you will be asked to enter the numbers displayed on your screen using your telephone keypad.

9 / once the numbers entered via the keypad of your phone, the automated service will issue you with another set of numbers that you Type in the dialog box that is displayed on your computer screen.

10 / now you must follow the instructions issued by the automated service to activate your copy.

11 / if, after going through this process, the activation service informs you that the product cannot be activated and then DO NOT slam the phone down in rage. Rather STAY ON THE LINE and your call will be transferred to an Activation of the device, in other words, someone real who will help you to activate your copy of Windows Vista.

12 / I am aware that these steps can be a pain, but nine times out of ten, Activation is automatic and can be accomplished quite easily on the internet. This is the reason why the service is automated. It is true that sometimes the automatism cannot stop, and when this happens, you are put through to someone who can help you.

Windows 7 came preinstalled on your computer? If that were the case, you cannot transfer it to a new motherboard:

The OEM of Windows 7 versions are identical to the versions commercial full license with the following exception:

-OEM versions don't offer any free direct support from Microsoft technical support Microsoft

-OEM Licenses are tied to the computer first you install and activate it on

-OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard

-OEM versions does not move directly from an older Windows operating system

When I start it says this copy of windows is not geniune.  can anyone help? Sorry I'm a bad speller...

    Windows license Type: customer KMS
    The Windows OS version: 6.1.7600.2.00010100.0.0.004
Your copy of Windows 7 uses KMS licenses, which requires he reactivates the licence every 180 days (6 months) by connecting to the KMS host computer. The KMS host is usually hosted on the domain in your workplace where the license was issued. Reactivation can be done by authenticating to the field of work (log in) or VPN to your network.
Otherwise, you can contact your COMPUTER administrator for assistance or consider getting a MAK key that works more like a sale at retail and no key requires no reactivation every 180 days.
