  Sorry to add to this topic but I have exactly the same problem. Here's what I have:

  OS: Windows XP Home SP3

  Multimedia phone software: Version 5.21 d (090625014425)

  As to why the bike not turned in the box - I would say that most people do not use them. You may disagree, and perhaps it is regional. But looking around the United States and the European Union, most of the people with cell phones do not use wired headphones. And the few people I know that do, tend to buy a different brand of what is in the box.

  In the United States, you can get them in many stores for less then $10 for Motorola is saving most of us who do not use wired headphones. I have a set that runs in my backpack as a backup, but I always forget it's there and use the phone without it.

  You can do a Google for "Motorola Phone Tools v4.0" type search online. Simply choose a vendor that you feel you can trust (buyer beware).

  Disc CD of a MPT v4.0, you can update via the software installed, just stop to version 4.56.

  Big Manuel PDF for my Atrix 2 shows how tap the icon "up arrow in a circle of blue" and choose 'Motorola Phone Portal' for an application to connect to my computer. Problem is when I type this icon there is no such visible application. Am I missing a step, or was it AT & T removed this feature?

  OK, this helps - what you need to do is tap on "AT & T" next to the AT & T logo in the upper left. This will show you a menu of choices, including "all apps". Click on "All apps" and you should see "Phone Portal".

  You need to update the version of iTunes on your computer, not the iPhone.

  If you are using a Mac, use the App Store app to install iTunes updates available.

  If you are using Windows, download the latest version of iTunes from the Apple website.

  As for your question, with most devices there are a few parameters to charge your phone. (depending on your phone)
  1. charge only
  2 USB mass storage
  3 synchronization
  Make sure that your phone is correctly configured, for more information on this topic, I suggest you to consult your documentation or support page of the phone.

  In most cases, your mobile operator doesn't have the IMEI or serial number of your device in its data base.

  You must call and ask them to inlcude your device IMEI.

  I have a BB 9000 "BOLD". Since yesterday, I saw this message on my phone "Phone not allowed MM6" and "SOS".

  I tried to reset the phone and check all settings and security options, but I couldn't find anything wrong. No body can now call me and I can't make any calls. If someone call me, they will find "the phone is off. I checked my Sim Card on another phone and it works correctly.

  I bought this phone about 2 weeks ago and I am currently in Iran, Tehran. Phone has been perperly in the last 2 weeks.

  I just plugged my phone yesterday to my laptop by USB to charge. I plugged before on my laptop by USB and it works fine.

  For your information, it's a Sony Erricson cell. In any case, I found what the problem is.

  The phone works fine, the problem was with my mobile network. They do not have enter my serial number of the cell phone.

  I send them the serial number of my cell phone and they told me during the next 24 hours that they will register it.

  I tried my BB with a different Sim card that uses a different mobile network and it works fine.

  Have you tried a hard reset, or you tried to do a restore? Basically, once your phone goes into recovery mode you must plug it into a computer with iTunes installed and restore it.
