When you make significant changes to your computer for example updated operating system, you must always back up. See the links to resources on the backup by clicking the link for each version of Windows you are using: Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1

    • Turn off (preferably uninstall) your Antivirus utility before you perform the upgrade.
    • Reboot several times and try again.
    • Disable the general USB peripherals (for example - smart card reader).
    • If you are using a SCSI drive, make sure you have the drivers available for your storage on a thumdrive device and it is connected. During the installation of Windows 10, click on the advanced custom Option and use the command load driver to load the driver for the SCSI drive. If this does not work and the installer still fails, consider switching to an IDE based hard drive.

  • The windows.old folder can be moved to the Windows folder?

I did a reinstall on Windows 7 registry problems, I've had with the preview of the 2013 Office. When I did reinstall on WIndows 7, it created a WIndows.Old folder that stores all my documents, program files and everything. I also have a WIndows folder above that. If the Windows.Old folder can be moved to the Windows folder or separate them? Microsoft Office is also in the Windows.Old folder.

If you have all this work and you have all the files you need - completely erase the Windows.OLD folder.

If it makes you feel better - copy the machine completely for more security instead.

In other words - once you have everything works as you like and know sure you miss not all the files - you don't need the windows.old folder at all.

  • Upgrade a machine dualboot windows7 & windows *.

    Hello

    I have a dual boot Windows7-Windows 8 machine.

I want to upgrade Windows 8 for Windows 8.1 but keep Windows 7 as-is.

Since the 8.1 update is done from windows, it is not to worry too much. As usual, it is always recommended that you back up data just in case upyour

  • Compatibility of DAQmx windows8/windows7/windows xp

    Hello

Do not know if it is a problem other people have noticed-, but I have an application that runs on windows 7/windos XP - who worked mainly outside of a few problems when some code necessary to recompile when it was moved.  Recently however we got a new computer running windows 8.1 - and installed labview on it – only to find that all the screws with daqmx measurement are now broken - because it does not find the screw OK for setting in place channels etc.

I have all the correct modules installed and in principle he could fix the screw that is affected by the creation of a version of win 8 - but he should keep both versions in parallel - which sucks.

Any thoughts?  I can force it to be smarter where it looks like - or reinstall it so he moved to the right place?

    Hi JP,

There should be no compatibility issues between Windows and LabVIEW 2013 8.1, it's the same combination that I use myself on my personal computer. The first step that I recommend is DAQmx resettlement. You can remove this writing software from National Instruments in programs and features in Control Panel. I do not know which version you are using at the moment (it might be helpful to know if you can find), but you can download the latest version of our website

    I hope this helps!

    Kind regards

  • problem upgrading to Windows7 Windows XP Professionalge.

Hello everyone and happy to be here. I have a problem upgrading to Windows7 in Windows XP Professional. I have a Dell E510 while upgrading to Windows 7, I have reached the installation window and my complete system each item listed with a check mark next to: (copy of Windows files), (gathering files, settings, programs), (extension of Windows files). reached 27% full. I get a massage from windows restarts now... The computer does not restart. He asks me to press any key to boot from the CD. Once it goes to that, a window pops up that says "Windows starts now." It is not to go further than that. I release the CD and turn off the computer. When I restart again, a window prompts you to say 'start from the old system or windows put in place. " If I press windows set up, it does nothing. When I press on the old system, it restarts in Windows XP, and then a window invites you to tell me 'the computer started on your old system. It would not be upgraded. Contact Microsoft. This is getting very frustrating. I installed the Windows 7 DVD on my other HP computer without problem. But when he asks me to press any key to reboot from dvd and you do. There is no that start the installation from the beginning. "Collection Windows files, them"start windows"and them it is he don't, don't go anywhere." Can't someone help please? Thank you and I appreciate the help.

Do not touch the keyboard when you are prompted to "Press any key", sit and wait Windows to continue the installation. Also did you select the 'custom' and not the 'Upgrade' option at the beginnng of the installation process.

  • Programs freeze after moving/resizing of window. (Win7)

When I move/resize a window some program that it is, the program crashes.  At first I thought he just happen when I moved something of my primary monitor in high school, but later discovered that it appeared on my screen as well.  This happens with all the programs I tried (Word, Excel, Firefox, Chrome, ITunes, many others).  I can reduce and enlarge the window by using the buttons in the upper right corner, but if I try to resize the window by entering the border it crashes.  The program crashes if I move a window.  The only way to close a program once it arrives is via the Task Manager.  I noticed that this only happens with a specific user account.  Any suggestions to fix this?

If the problem started recently, I would use the #1 on this page option.  If it does not go to the #2 option.  I suggest not number 3 or 4.

  • Moved from Office Windows 7 from one room to the other and now it cannot find the wireless network

    Hello world

I have a HP Pavilion running Windows 7.

He was hooked through the ethernet in a single room.

I moved it to another room where there was no inflexible access, so I relied on the use of our wireless network.

Now, the computer will not even find the wireless network.  When I have the help, it says "no available connection."

In the center of the network, selecting wireless has a red X to the left of the green signal bars.

At first, I wondered if maybe the computer was in a "dead point" in our House, but I've put a laptop beside him and he found the thin wireless network.

    Any help?

Update: I tried system restore and tried to stop/resume knowledge network locations, but to no avail.

Here is the info on my card wireless directly from HP site:

Original driver for the solutions of Dualband network Atheros 802.11 Wireless Module a/b/g/n.

I found what I think, it's their website, (http://www.atheros.cz/atheros-wireless-drivers.php), but surprise... they only model # s, my info does not.  Ugh.

  • Moving tabs between windows is broken.

It is on a Windows 7 64 bit computer with the latest version of Firefox (16.0.2). Older versions of Firefox have never had this problem.

If I try to drag a tab from one window to another, the original window keeps tab, but go to the tab shows nothing; the new window, the tab has been added to that shows the title of the tab as 'new tab '. In addition, nor tabs after doing so close properly without closing the entire window, they are in. Play with it too also causes Firefox to crash.

I have addons who jokes with the functionality of the tab, so I would like to know why it's broken and whether, and how, it could be fixed.

Well, I didn't have to go find my addons and install again, everywhere, because frankly it's much more difficult than to troubleshooting simply. So I tried safe mode and it works. After testing a bit it seems that Google Toolbar caused the problem, so I found a more compatible, unofficial replacement to googlebar

  • Windows7 windows show open on the taskbar, but seem to be out of the screen-how can I get the focus?

New Windows 7 and Firefox - icon in the taskbar, but will not display the window on the screen. When I put the cursor on the icon the little windows show which is open. It seems that the windows display is somewhere off the coast on the right side of the screen. Don't have a clue as to how it happened. How can I get the windows on the desktop where I can see? Thanks for all the tips that will help you.

In Windows 7, pressing/holding the windows key and right arrow key FINALLY made the window reappear to me! Deleting the localstore.rdf did NOT work for me, unfortunately.

  • tabs are moving into new windows when I don't want to do!

Is it possible to disable this feature, because it's really annoying?

Firefox 3.5/6 versions have a feature called tabs.

You can detach a tab in the current window and open in a new window by dragging a tab in the browser window.

You can drag the tab to the tab bar in the original window to cancel this detachment.
