MS Office Communicator-Lync

Hello

I'm looking to deploy vmware view and also a UC solution (MS OCS------Lync) and I'd like to see if anyone has had any problems with them part ocs in the past.  I heard that vmware did not quite reach a high level to have the voip and webcams working on a virtual desktop.  Can anyone confirm or correct me on this?  I really want to deploy the view but I also really want to deploy MS OCS / Lync so if I can't get both then view will be that loose out.

Can anyone recommend a thin client that is better than other communications or are they also equally good?  We are a Dell House wonder if dell is any good?

Any guidance or advice very much appreciated.

DMcA.

MS Lync is compatible with the VDI?

The answer is very complex and articulated. They came out a few announcements from Microsoft and Citrix March but most clearly do have a lot of confusion
I tried to make a synthesis document on the subject that you will find on my blog.

The main problem is on the video. The only one that supports for the moment is cirix, but at what price? The big impact is on the scalability of the solution. In this way on a core 8 machine can not get more than 10 VDI Citrix

  • VCS and integration of Office 365 Lync?

We have recently moved to Office 365 and include features of Lync for Office Office videophone (as well as IM) but we do not have a Lync server on site to do all the required configurations. Anyone out there experience with the integration of these two products?

My hypothesis is that it is still possible to somehow, but we will not be able to configure any end point of VCS to vocation user Lync. Is it possible to still have Lync users to call to an endpoint of VCS (which is what I really want to do anyway)?

My first tests have developed negative did the best that I can with the deployment guide, but I also think I might need to change my domain name to my settings of VCS for a subdomain (as @vcs.mydomain.com), now they are both using the same top level domain name, and I fear that the two systems are not 'find' the other because their research are limited to their respective systems.

Any ideas or help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,

    Chris

    Chris,

You cannot configure Lync to federate to an environment of VCS in the same way that you can federate to other domains running Lync, this isn't how the integration works.

The role of the VCS in integration with OCS/Lync is to translate between Microsoft SIP and based on the SIP standard, which is the reason why a or several control devices VCS need to communicate directly with a Director or a Front End Processor. You cannot communicate directly with a low of VCS an OCS/Lync Edge server.

I'm not familiar with Office 365 and which control this service gives you on your server (if any) infrastructure, but if you look at the deployment of OCS/Lync and setup guide, you must perform the VCS on the OCS/Lync server to trust them and possibly to set up static routes I do not think that you will be able to perform these steps by using Office 365 (please, correct me if I'm wrong).

  • Virtualize or not virtualize - 'Microsoft Office Communications Server'

    Hello world

I was informed that it is impossible to virtualize meanings due to problems of time-synch, cycles of clock or something - I guess that in the same way that people used to be reluctant to virtualize AD controllers etc.

    This correction in 3.5 U3?

Someone at - it truly Virtualized MS Office Comms Server?

    Thank you very much.

We have fully virtualized OCS, no time synchronization problem AFAIK. (3.5 U2)

    Hello

Oracle isn't connector Lync. You can install the connectors Exchange/AD 11.x and after AD/Exch commissioning, you can write a task to run your custom shell of power which can define lync attributes in AD/Exchange.

    I hope this helps.
