    Hello

I'll have some performance issues with my laptop in recent times. When I look in the Windows 8 Task Manager it shows my drive as 100% all the time. I tried my best with various troubleshooting guides, but nothing can stop him to use 100% all the time. I read that using 100% disk leads to performance can degrade that I see most of the time with my notebook. So, finally decided to put an additional SSD (if there is one extra slot) in my book, if there is no solt for additional SSD so I can replace it with my HARD disk existing.

Can anyone tell me is it possible to put an additional SSD in my laptop (Pavilion dv6-7039tx)?

The second question I have is what is the best SSD which will solve my problem of performance with this model? I am looking at about 500GB SSD.

On your model, it appears that the map of the WSSD is on the system board, so it requires major disassembly to add one in. Center of Service HP will not add one after the fact. You will need to take it to a private portable computer and it might void the warranty. Even the main hard drive on this model is very difficult to access and do so voids warranty.

    Hey there! @kushalpandya,

Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! A place where you can find solutions for your problems, with the help of the community!

I understand that you need to know if there is a slot m2 on your laptop.

I have checked the specification of your laptop and found there is no option to install M.2 SSD on your laptop.

There are some models of portable Pavilion 15 who went with slot m2 where they have the option to install SSD m2.

Since your laptop with SATA you don't have the possibility to opt for SSDS m2.

    Please keep me updated!

    Have a great day! :-)

  • I want to improve my hp pavilion 15 n003sq

OK, so I want to improve my hp pavilion n003sq 15
    I have 2 questions:

    1. can I put my laptop up to 16 GB of ram? I have only 2 slots of 8 GB each. And I wonder if my laptop supports ram 2x8gb.
It's the ram that I have in mind:
    -HP DDR3L 1x8GB SO-DIMM, 1600 MHz, 1.35v

    2. then, I want to know if I can install an mSATA SSD and then install my OS on it.
    I want a SSG with 200 + GB
who is the best of the 3?
    - Crucial M500 240 GB mSATA CT240M500SSD3

    - Intel 525 240 GB mSATA OEM Pack SSDMCEAC240B301

    - A-Data 256 GB XPG SX300 mSATA3 ASX300S3-256 GM - C

If I install the OS on the WSSD, it will work faster?

    The maintenance manual:

    Manual

says it tops out at 12 GB, but I find it difficult to understand. There are 2 slots and I can't understand why you can put 8 gb in one and only 4 in another, but that's what he says and you don't believe it at your own risk. It is also said that you can install a WSSD mSATA but only if you have no more than 8 GB of RAM. Again, difficult to understand but there it is.

The manual shows no more where the mSATA slot. The system is set up to discourage them using the mSATA for a bootable disc slot. The BIOS does not directly define a WSSD as the disk to MBR, so you need to use some software tricks to make it work. These are very advanced configurations and not for the average user.

You would be much better to install a full-sized 2.5 inch SATA SSD. The instructions to do this are in the manual, but it is not something permitted of the customer. You would jeopardize the warranty and it requires extensive disassembly. HP and many other laptop manufacturers now offer units that allow for minimal if any client is upgraded. Yours is one of these, but at least the memory is accessible behind a service door. HP makes other similar models without service door at all.

  • HP Pavilion 15-ak002na Gaming: installation of an SSD

    Hello
I would like to install an SSD or a mSata/m2 in my PCie slot (if I have one). The SSD is expected to replace my HARD drive, this could go in a caddy to replace my CD player.

So, I want to be confirmed by the experts that my computer has a location free PCIe that supports the mSata and/or m.2 SSD? And if so, is this SATA II or III slot? There are chances that the installation of these will not void my warranty?

And finally, how the 3 options compare to eachother?

    Road to SSD:

    -Advantages:

+ Availability (I have a 240GB 2.5 "SSD already) (not that big of a pro)

    -Disadvantages:

    + More work

+ Certainly void my warranty (I got the laptop last month)

+ 1 TB of data up to 240 GB to sacrifice space.

    mSATA/m.2 road:

    -Advantages:

    + Less work

+ Not to sacrifice data space

    -Disadvantages:

    + Might not be as stable/fast /...

I honestly don't know much about this stuff, I just read an article that gave me the idea that something to do early in the spring. Please correct me if I have something wrong.

    Hi @ankurtr,

I read your great post. If you look at my link for the service manual that I sent, he states that these items are compatible.

    The GNRC SSD 256Go 2280 M2 SATA-3 value 865902-001

    The GNRC SSD 128 GB 2280 M2 SATA-3 value 847110-002

    Solid-State drive cable 856353-001

It should be either a 256 GB Sata - 3 or SSD 128 GB 2280 M2 SATA-3 M2 and solid state cable must be Solid-State drive 856353-001 cable

In addition, the SSD at Amazon may be compatible. But I'll always ask contact you a local technician and confirm that before ordering the part.

  • Can I add mSATA in TouchSmart HP Envy 15-j003tx?

As noted in the website of HP, the TouchSmart from HP Envy 15-j003tx using the Intel Express HM87 chipset but equipped with HDD 5400 rather slow.

I am planning to buy the laptop but would like to know if the laptop has extra slot for mSATA or extra SATA HDD slot so I can configure SSD caching for the laptop.

Thanks for all help. Finally, I ordered the HP Touchsmart 15 j003TX.

Here is the full story. I had called several laptop dealers near my area, but none of them does not know if the mSATA is supported. I think that they refer to manuals and official specifications which does not clearly specify if the laptop has slot mSATA.

I saw the notebook in a Harvey Norman near my house. I asked the developer if he can open the back cover of the laptop and let me inspect if mSATA slot is there.

The friendly developer open the lid back and I saw an empty but I don't know if it's the mSATA slot. I never see mSATA lunge. The location is not label to indicate if the slot is for mSATA. The developer and technicians in Harvey Norman cannot confirm if it is the mSATA slot. They refer to the specifications and official manual and told me that the laptop does not support mSATA.

I took a picture and do some research with my colleagues. After a few hours of research, we are quite sure that it should be mSATA. In order to make sure it works, I bought a KingMax mSATA SSD 128 GB and return to the shop again. They re - open the back cover and I try to fit the mSATA into the empty slot and it fits perfectly. Turn on the laptop and screen of the BIOS shows the SSD has been detected and Windows 8 as the new mSATA SSD.

So the conclusion is the envy of HP TouchSmart 15 j003-TX supports mSATA. I immediately ordered the laptop.

Thanks for all your help and valuable information. And I bought a form correct factors of mSATA SSD. But I miss something, I forgot to collect the mSATA screws.

In any case, I'm happy with the slot mSATA and portable.

  • Volume shadow copy error after moving to MSATA SSD on R7 - 572

A while back I cloned the value default 1 TB SATA drive on an MSATA SSD plugged into the slot unit MSATA.

At the time I had been unable to conceive the MSATA as boot drive, while the original (also bootable drive) was in the system such that it does not appear in the BIOS from startup list.

    http://community.Acer.com/T5/S-and-R-series-laptops/cloned-SSD-in-Boot-Manager-but-not-boot-priority...

As I did not need the 1 TB, I just removed and have used the system very well with just the MSATA SSD.

Today, I tried to make an Image of Windows backup system and ran a (below) Volume shadow copy error

Volume shadow copy service operation failed. (0x807800A1)

Writer has encountered a transient error... (0x800423F3)

I check all the main remedy online by ensuring that all VOlume shadow copy served are running, but without success. I feel that the fact that I'm on the SSD MSATA which was not visible in the list of the BIOS boot maybe being tied to the backup crashing.

Anyone running the R7-572 on the MSATA port that is able to make a system image backup?

    Thanks for your comments

It took me awhile, but I finally understood what was preventing the creation of the image of the system.

Looking at the event viewer, he had a lot of mistakes, the first mistake we a CAPI2 with event 513, then it was a VSS error with event ID 8228 stating an invalid character in an XML file.

    Error says:
Do not parse the XML file.
Reason, an invalid character was found in text content.

Search through dozens of threads and try a number of bugs without success, I finally found one who mentioned their question came from bad characters in the names of partition after cloning with EaseUs Todo backup.

It's the tool that I used to clone my drive to a SSD, I decide to check it out.

The thread mentioned using GPT fdisk utility found on sourceforge, so I downloaded the tool.

You just run the executable in administrator mode. Find how to use it was a little hard, but basically the commands below does the job

0:-enabled disk 0, which is my drive.

I - to view the information on each partition

It will ask you the number. This allows you to see the names. Some of my partitions had some very strange names did not, we had a quote.

I checked what names when used on another laptop and decided to appoint mine as follows (I think you can use any name)

first 600 MB partion: database partition

Second partition of 300 MB: EFI system partition

Thrid 128 MB partion: Microsoft Reserved partition

    Fourth 205GB partition: partition database

Fifth 17 GB partition: partition recovery

To change the name of the partition, use the command

c ask for the number of the partition, then the name

    Then save with

w - written revisions and outputs

I rebooted, tried the system image backup and no problem this time.

I lost a full day on this topic, so I hope it can help someone else in the future

  • HP Envy 14 A9P67UA spectrum #ABA: Add (or replace) mSATA SSD to the HP Envy 14 spectrum w/windows 10... possible? Worth the risk?

    Hi all!

So, I read in this forum on this subject and have seen mixed results.  I bought this computer a few years ago, generally pretty happy with it but I ran out of space and the battery is dying.  I am trying to decide whether to revise it or buy new.   That's what I want to do:

Add 2nd mSATA SSD in the second slot.  I saw a post like this HD is compatible but that's a post.  Around, I've read that others have had problems by adding a second SSD.  Some people can not access, some people, it shows only a 128 GB extra, in fact, some have a BSOD.   The post I saw replaced the original disc to help one of them and adding a second drive so the two HDs were of the same brand.  Is it a better idea?  Also, all the posts I've seen on this topic were two years old and dealt with Windows 7.  Windows 10 it will make it harder to do?

    http://www.Amazon.com/Samsung-850-mSATA-2-inch-MZ-M5E1T0BW/DP/B00TGIVRYU?ie=UTF8&PSC=1&redirect=true...

If not I can try and use the same car with the model came in the second slot to help in possible compatibility issues, but I would be limited to a 128 GB extra (or possibly 256?).

I have also upgraded the memory of 8 GB and add a new battery.

    http://www.Newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16820220618&ignorebbr=1

Reflections on what is successful? I wouldn't waste money on these parts if this is going to work.  Thank you!

    Hi @cdmdds,

    Welcome to the HP Forums!

I understand from your posts that you are having a problem with your Notebook SPECTRUM HP ENVY 14 - 3010NR and needing some updates. This system supports 8 GB (8192 × 1) of the maximum of memory RAM and 256 GB (128 GB × 2) Page 34 of the repair. The battery information on page 32.

This would be due to the limit with the processor.

Please let me know if this information helps you solve the problem by marking this post as accept as Solution, this will help others easily find the information they seek.
