• TL2000 error 9 b 3 b - first skips left magazine column

  After going over everything you have already done, I would advise that you perform a reset to the default values and then reflash the firmware once more. If at that time here if you still have these same questions so we are looking at a bad chassis.

  Firstly uninstall the Toshiba HW setup utility.
  Then uninstall the VAP (value added package)
  Reboot the laptop.
  Now run the CCleaner and clean the registry and delete the temporal files.
  Reboot the laptop.
  Run the CCleaner once more to make sure that the registry is properly cleaned.
  Reboot once more and then install VAP.
  Reboot once again and install the program HW installation.

  FWIW, all uppercase is considered as shouting and rude. It is also much harder to read because of the lack of change in height of letter. That's why you see books or magazines etc., printed in capital letters.

• Error "Writeback" Equium CD/DVD

  I have a strange problem with my laptop that I discovered when creating backups of the system.

  If you have a couple of commercial programs "partition of Eve", which appeared on the CD magazine and they work very well, even when that means writing several DVD. However, the partition of all of the backup system isn't ideal!

  If I try to use the standard (for the designated etc. Folders Backup) backup program, everything goes OK until a few hundred MB have been recorded, and then the process fails with an error "writeback". I tried seveal programs, all with the same result.

  I looked for references of this error - but they all seem to refer to hard disks. Has anyone encountered this writing on CD or DVD?

  Hi Phil,

  I have experienced this error so that my system backup on an external hard drive USB connected. The error is the same, I use Norton Ghost or Acronis True Image.

  I finally took it down to a bad USB connection on my external caddy causing intermittent contact when the external hard drive was running (vibrations, I think).

  The fact that you tried different applications with the same result would indicate a physical problem rather than a software problem.

  I presume that your carpet * a car is equipped internally in which case I suggest to check that it is securely installed, and then check that it is trying to write data at high speed for the media type you are using.

  If you have Nero installed, you can also try to set the write speed for your DVD player to a setting below using Nero Divespeed.

  I just replaced the original pair of modules DIMM DDR3 1 GB in my new S10 (6423 - 27G) with a pair of brand Lenovo 2 Gb DDR3 DIMM, to bring the total system memory of 4 GB (I'm hoping to expand up to 8 GB, later, when DDR3 prices fall a bit).

  Now, whenever I start my S10, I get a MESSAGE error message:

  I am prompted to press F1 to access the CONFIGURATION, but no matter what I'm doing here, I can't find any option to clear this error.

  What can I do to get my S10 running after his POST without report an error?

  Hi Erik,

  I can confirm that the POSITION "164" error is now corrected, and I left all 4 modules in the machine, giving me a pretty lush 6 GB to play with. My S10 now gets "4.8" on issues of Vista, with the graphics (nVidia FX 1700) being the factor limiting - everything else is in the range of 5.9.

  The reason why Vista went 'false' on me is that I had already skipped the version Lenovo (Vista Business 64) repartitioned my first hard drive and installed Vista Ultimate 64 of my MSDN discs. On purpose, I had not yet activated version, because I expect more re - installs while I set exactly where I wanted my different partitions of the disk.

  Now I re-installed Vista Ultimate 64 once more and activated it, and everything is hunky-dory.

  I think I will like my new Lenovo after all! :-)
