    Hello again,

Thought I would let you know that I've finally sorted this! :)

In another forum I read a post from someone who had a similar problem and solved it by uninstalling the "failures" updated, restart the PC and then re-run the update. It worked! It had not occurred to me to try what I've assumed that 'impossible' meant that they had not installed at all, not that they didn't had simply not installed correctly and must have become corrupt.

I hope this will help someone else who has the same problem, I've had!

    Best wishes

  • On the App Store app apps watch 17 update, but all are, how do I get rid of the number

a mini iPad with iOS 9.2, showing the number 17 in App Store app need to be updated, but all are. How can I get rid of the Red number. A cut but did nothing.

If you do not want the Red number appears next to the app store, you must disable its insignia in notifications settings.

To do this, go to settings > notifications > AppStore > and disable the badge icon

Although this does not prevent the updates to appear once your in the app store, it's the next best thing by you annoying is not with the small number of red while you are on your home screen.

    Hope this fixes your problem,

  • I can't start my computer after installing updates to manualling

This happened almost a year and once from time to time I revisit the issue to see if I can find a solution.

I tried to download the new version of Windows Live Messenger. Installation did not work because I needed a certain update. This hard drive (I have several) was not install updates for a while. Up to this point, I just thought it was a nuisance, but not a major problem. Because my computer would not install the updates on its own, and I needed a special update for the new Windows Live Messenger, I went online to find the update to install. I got the update ID (I don't remember what it was) so I quickly found and installed. Everything seemed fine until I restarted my computer - or attempted to guess - after installation. My computer won't start. I get a screen asking if I want to start Windows normally or start windows repair.

Here are some of the things I've tried so far:

Start Windows normally: a screen comes up saying something about checking the disks and it is recommended that you do not stop the disk check. I do not have anything and immediately it says that the disk check has been arrested. He stays on this screen infinitely - believe me I left on this screen for hours.

Repair Windows: I used windows repair in the past for other problems and it worked wonderfully. This time I click to run windows repair and I go to a blue screen with the background of the blue sinuous line of vista but there is to this and nothing comes up.

Safe mode (and any version of safe mode): when starting, I pressed F8 to start the extended options. All safe mode options lead to the same thing. I get a list of drivers and it says please wait... It always gets stuck on \windows\system32\drivers\crcdisk.sys and it is going nowhere.

I tried almost all the options in the F8 menu and they all be given the normal startup problem or safe mode

I then tried to do a repair of my disk of vista system. This time - unlike the previous attempt to repair windows - I got the menu normal repair. Unfortunately, the repair "attempted to correct the disk error" during more than 15 hours. I then shut down my computer, once again beaten by my computer.

I always use this computer with other drives with no problems. Thus, it is certainly a problem on the hard drive and must be associated with the update I installed manually before this problem.

    Help, please!

    Hi, EMP,.

Since you are unable to boot into safe mode and unable to repair the system, you can try to boot from the Windows Vista disc and try to perform a system restore.

Method 1: Try to perform a system retsore.

For more information, you can consult the following articles:

An update is not installed successfully when you try to install the update in Windows Vista and Windows 7

What are the system recovery options in Windows Vista?

    Method 2:

If you still experience the problem, then try to perform a checkdisk to repair bad sectors on the hard drive.

You can boot from Vista disk full or to run Checkdsk select command prompt from the System Recovery Options menu.

    a. Insert the installation disc.

    b. restart your computer.

    c. click on the Start button, click the arrow next to the button lock and then click on restart. If you are prompted, press any key to start Windows from the installation disc.

Note: If your computer is not configured to start from a CD or a DVD, see the documentation provided with your computer. You may need to change your computer's BIOS settings.

    d. choose your language settings, and then click Next.

    e. in the System Recovery Options menu, click command prompt

    f. at a command prompt, type the following command and press ENTER

    Chkdsk /f /r X: (drive letter)

Note: When you run the checkdisk, there are risks of data loss you can take a backup before starting the checkdisk.

    g. press y when you are prompted to check the drive the next time the system restarts.

    h. close all applications and restart the computer.

Note: When you run the disk check, there is a chance of losing the data you can take a backup before starting the checkdisk.

     Hope this information is useful.

Change how Windows installs or informs you about updateshttp://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Change-how-Windows-installs-or-notifies-you-about-updates>

If you select the download updates but let me choose... option, no update will install without your approval. Suppose an update will require a reboot and does not approve the installation of an update until & unless you are ready to restart.

You can change the setting "notify only". Once you have done this, you will need to approve the updates are downloaded updates are installed commandeLorsque, which they are installed.

What are the differences between Windows updates and automatic updates from Microsoft Updates?

While Windows Update provides updates specifically for Windows, Microsoft Update expands the service to download and install updates for other Microsoft software, such as Microsoft Office and Windows Live [as well as Silverlight & Microsoft Security Essentials]. Update automatic is a feature that allows you to configure your PC to automatically download and install updates using each service, making it easy and convenient for you to keep your current Windows PC.

    Source: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/downloads/windowsupdate/FAQ.mspx>

If you disable Microsoft Update, your default update source is "reversed" update of Windows, but it does NOT neutralize automatic updates.

  • Windows update - Windows Update is not restore my windows/desktop computer after installing updates

When running Windows Update is not reproduce my office and rather trashes everything.  Ysterday I left to work with over a dozen research Internet Explorer open and this morning, I get to a Windows auto update cycle, which wrecked all.  Well Yes, they are lost and of course, I can spend an hour or more to find once again but my boss is breathing down my neck, as if it was my fault.  Microsoft how inconsiderate!

Of course, I have a solution, TURN OFF Microsoft Update but is this really what Microsoft wants?

    Please people think.

    Hi jbeech,

No, I don't work for Microsoft and I am not associated with them in any way (other than to receive awards and certificates I earned on my own).  I'm a volunteer civilian gift free time to help other people.

I meant nothing personal, per my comments of workflow.  I was just trying to do my best to help you avoid this problem in the future and apologize if you took it the wrong way.  I agree with you that he must restore it things automatically (as it does when you use the hibernation), but maybe that can be done (at least not always) because updates may affect items that are open and to update these programs must be closed (which makes saving them more difficult because if they look different after the update) It may not work if we try to restore them unless they can find a way to save ONLY the information and it is a much more difficult task).  This problem does not occur with an accident or an unexpected shutdown (and a complete restoration in cases does not always work as well and completely that we hope - at least I had problems back exactly where I was with all that every time).

While you can choose to turn off automatic updates, you don't want to not go for very long without updating your system, so checking periodically (although if you want to do on a daily basis - I would try at least every Wednesday at least since most updates are released every Tuesday) is important in all cases.  The option I suggested (i.e. automatic downloads but no facilities) would at least them already downloaded (you would not need to check - that they would be there) it would take much less time to choose and install if you show if off completely - and when you decide to install, you will find it takes MUCH more time because you need to download and install (unless they are already downloaded).  But it is entirely up to you.

    Good luck and best wishes!

  • I got a new computer and installed Firefox, but do not know how to transfer Firefox bookmarks on the old computer.

This must be one of the most common problems that people encounter. We receive all new computers every so often, and we all need to keep the old bookmarks when we get a new computer and install the new browser.

I feel that I must be among the small minority of people who do not know how to proceed. My old computer is not dead, she's just older (he uses XP). I kept around until I have all the data out. Any help in doing this would be greatly appreciated.

I am now using Windows 7.

There are several ways you can do this:

You can set up Firefox Sync for syncing between computers.
    Edition-> Preferences-> Sync... OR Preferences-> Preferences-> Sync...
    https://support.Mozilla.org/en-us/KB/how-do-i-set-up-Firefox-sync
Advantages: Easy to use, once set up, keeps several devices synced
Cons: Harder to define, requires Internet access, keep track of "Firefox Sync Key."

    You can export/import favorites
    Bookmarks-> show all bookmarks-> import and backup->...
    https://support.Mozilla.org/en-us/KB/export-Firefox-bookmarks-to-backup-or-transfer
Benefits: Easier to transfer one time, can be done "offline".
Cons: Maintain multiple devices synchronized in this way can be time consuming and possibly confuse / boring

Note: After the boot minimum troubleshooting step, follow step 7 in the link provided to return the computer to a Normal startup mode.

Method 3: If the problem persists then try to install updates manually from the Microsoft Download Center.

    a. go to the Microsoft Download site, type the number of "KB" of the update in the download search box and then click OK.

    b. in the list of search results, click on the (KB) Knowledge Base article link to go to the download page. If there is more than one list, look for a link that goes to the Microsoft Download Center.

    Hello

I have an Acer Aspire 5315 with Vista installed on it. It will now not load since the update live windows rebooted the computer last week.

When the computer is turned on, it loads a page saying Windows Error Recovery. under the present is said: could not start windows. a recent hardware or software change might be the cause. to solve the problem: 1 insert the windows installation disc, and then restart the computer, 2. choose your language settings and then click on 'next', 3 click on "repair your computer".

then he said, other options: If food was interuppted when booting, choose start windows normally. It then gives the other options such as safe mose and last known good configuration.

I tried selecting start windows normally and safe mode, but it just goes to the windows boot manager with: cannot start windows. a recent hardware or software change might be the cause. to solve the problem: 1 insert the windows installation disc, and then restart the computer, 2. choose your language settings and then click on 'next', 3 click on "repair your computer".

I hope that you will be able to give me a little help because I do not have the windows installation disc. I'm pretty much at my wits end now and start to pull on my hair!

    Restore point:

Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

If restore work not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:

Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.

When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.

In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.

See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.

Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...

Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.
