My C: drive is full and should not be

Hello, need advice.

I have a HP Pavilion HPE Win7Pro64 (non-raid) desktop pc I use mainly for photography videography and 16MP 1080 p 60. I have a C: drive for apps and storage of the Web site files. I have an external drive to store pictures, music files and doc. I have an external drive for the storage of video clips and multimedia projects for bluray.

My C: drive is full and should not be. TreeSize Free scanned drive C: revealing that under users/gift/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Common/media Cache files it is 200 GB of 18 000 .cfa .pek .ims .qtindex .mpgindex and .mcvideoindex files.

And under Pro/5.5/Adobe users/gift/Documents/Adobe/Premiere Premiere Pro preview files, there are two 58 GB. Files PRV (shows 2 hours), three 5 GB. GRP files and eight 0 bytes. GRP files.

I don't know what is usual or normal; What should I be seeing normally?

What I am doing wrong?

How I set up correctly?

How can I prevent this happening again?

Files Cache of media and Adobe Premiere Pro preview files is on the C: drive?

I have a second internal drive that I use for backup and for the storage of some clips of video capture.

Internals: Drive C is 500 GB SSD, drive E is 1 TB. ESATA external references are 1 to 2 TB.

What is "roaming"?

  • My 2 TB TC is full and will not back up. Yet, I have only 1 TB of data on my laptop. Note that I've reformatted the laptop since the last backup with a clean installation of El Capitan.

My 2 TB Time Capsule is full and will not save. Yet, I have only 1 TB of data on my laptop. Note that I've reformatted the laptop since the last backup with a clean installation of El Capitan.

I bought a 2 TB external hard and have used Time Machine to back up. But I also use my time Capsule, which I save wireless.

Any suggestions on getting my TC back up?

One suggestion would be to copy all existing backups that are now on the Time Capsule 2 TB hard disk. Then, clear the TC and start over again with new backups.

A more expensive option... assuming you want to keep all old backups on the TC... would be to add a new TC and start backups goes in this direction.

Another option... If you do not need to keep all old backups now on the TC... would be to erase the TC and start over again with new backups. The benefit of doing this would be that no new material will be necessary, but the downside would be that you lose your old backup history.

    Hi FAH300,

If you are not able to format the drive, there may be a hardware problem.

I suggest formatting the disk using the instructions linked by wb2001.

  • Updates will not work as C drive is full and I can't find out how to change the default drive?

My "C" drive is it is full and I don't know what programs and files should be able to uninstall unused programs. Those that I was able to uninstall I was doing ground but that's left, I don't know what are the components.
This has affected security downloads and as a result, I am currently without protection.
The Firefox version I'm currently using is 40.0.2 as the update might fail for lack of room.
How to fix this and get my computer working properly / so far, I am at a loss?
Is it possible to move the programs to other readers?
Is this something that I'll be able to fix it with help or do I have to take someone who knows what they are doing?

You must ensure that there is enough space on the Windows system drive (drive C) to ensure the proper functioning.

You can check if you can move (uninstall and reinstall) some programs in another drive and possibly move on data as well.
You can also check the Windows temp (% RPM, variable environment % TEMP %) to see if you can clean up files there.

You can perform a custom Setup with most programs including Firefox to specify the installation folder.

  • My Hard disk drive (C) is full and can not save on my local drive (D)... Help!

I can't save anything else on my computer and I feel as if I had barely whether registered here initially. My (C) drive is almost full and my local disk drive (D) has so much space to this topic, but I don't know how to do as my default player. I tried following the suggestions of the people online, but nothing helped. Can anyone help?

The first thing to do is run the disk cleanup utility. Instructions here.

Then, try to move some files and folders. There are a few different folders, you can move from the C drive to the D drive. So let me suggest you only start moving your files, documents, music, photos and video from C to d. here are the instructions. You need to do one at a time. To find them, in Solution Explorer, expand the C drive, find your name under users and all your personal files are there.

After these two things, tell me how much space you have on C.

  • Time machine is full and do not delete files

My time machine has not saved the files for about 2 weeks.  It says it is full, but I can't delete older backups, even manually.  I emptied the Recycle Bin and rebooted, but nothing has changed.  I have a drive hard capacity 3T dedicated to backup, it must have plenty of room.  Any suggestions?

About alert TM "Backup Drive is full"

TM only deletes older files if they have been removed from the source and when TM needs space on the backup to a new incremental backup drive. Time Machine "Jules Destrooper" its backups. over 24 hours, old backups, except the first of the day; These "dailies", old more 30-day backups, except the first day of the week. The weeklies are kept as long as there is room.

So, how long a backup rest file depends on how long it was on your Mac before being deleted, assuming that you do at least one backup per day. If she was there for less than 24 hours, it will be maintained for at least a month. If she was there at least a week, it will be maintained as long as there is room.

Note that, on a Time Capsule, the sparsebundle grows in size as needed, but not descended. View of the user of the TC so it seems that no space was released, although there may be space in the sparsebundle.

Once TM has found that it cannot free enough space for new backup it reports the disk is full. You can erase the backup disk and start your backup or replace the disc with a larger drive.

I have a laptop E1 571 and have been using it with win 10 since its release, had minor problems, but the day of Christmas (from everyday) my hard drive started to make beep sounds and load, only to start menu screen but the hd does not!

    Following your advice, I installed:

    WinDirStat - free
    http://WinDirStat.info/

This allowed me to find all the files on my computer and better still highlighted the huge file that was causing the problem.

The file at the root of the problem is a log file more 126 GB in size. He was hiding there in a folder on my hard drive that Explorer windows normal not to find / identify. The logfile at the origin of the problem was "pyagcore" and it seems if installed on your computer when you install the kiwee toolbar internet explore.

I was able to delete the pyagcore file and then disabled and deleted the kiwee toolbar. Everything looks OK and I more 126 GB of hard disk space back.

Cheers and thanks a lot for your kind cooperation.

First, consider your player must be too small and consider its replacement.

Second, he should know that the practical limit of the main disk is 75% of its physical capacity.  Once you start to be higher than that, performance gradually worsen until it will not work either.
