my computer does not recognize my scanner wireless

I have the same problem. My printer is the 8600 all-in-one. I have two computers, an older iMac and a Macbook Pro laptop. On the front panel of the printer, the older iMac turns out being able to scan, but the laptop is not. Everything else on the laptop in regards to the printer works fine. My printer is wireless. I can scan my laptop, but I can't get the front panel of the printer to recognize the laptop. I get a message indicating the failure of communication, and yet, it seems to be connected correctly.

Still having the same problem after having spent hours trying to figure out why the old computer is listed on the front panel of the printer, but the Macbook Pro is not recognized. There must be an answer to that somewhere.

Hi @nancybl,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

I understand that you may not get your HP Officejet 6500 e709n scanner to recognize your Mac computer. I am pleased to see that for you!

If your computer is running Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan. (I guess). There is no full feature software and drivers HP so that this function works. Only the pilot integrated directly from Apple is available. So, you will be able to print and scan from the laptop. But the scan of the computer will not work without the full feature software and drivers that are currently not available as noted above. All we can do is wait and see if they are available in the future.

  • My computer does not recognize my printer installed as a scanner.

Recognize a scanner.  My printer is also a scanner.  My new computer recognize the printer (in a network), but does not recognize the scanner function.  When I try to scan a document it tells me that I don't have a scanner installed?  What should do?

Normally, the input devices can be shared, at all, but this is not always true of scanners.  You will be able to share the scanner if the manufacturer has provided a software specialized for this purpose.

You must use a network scanner (which eliminates immediately most, if not all, USB scanners) and a specialized software (that comes with the scanner) to do this.  If you're talking about a consumer grade flat USB or parallel port scanner, you can most likely not.

HP, Canon, Xerox, Oce, Kyocera Mita and other companies manufacture network capable scanners (they devices actually multi-function was also copying, printing and sometimes fax and e-mail) and specialized software accessories.  The cost of these devices usually begins somewhere just below $4, 000.00 USD.

The application of HP PrecisionScan Pro, version 2.03 and higher, normally provided with some low business scanners from HP range, allows some of the functions of the sweep to share.  See the documentation provided with the scanner.  (I know that it works, if not very well; I configured HP ScanJet 6300 C and C 7490 devices to be shared, using the provided software.)

  • Computer does not recognize Toshiba external 500G HDD - HARD drive

Sorry, I use a translator, because all the illiterate

A year and a half used the hard drive, and now the computer does not recognize it, the TV too.
In Device Manager, it is there, but says "initialization error".

    What should do?
    Thanks for the replies

You have partitions software installed on the laptop you?
I guess that the HARD disk does not appear in windows Explorer, but common partition as the partition Wizard tool might be able to recognize the HARD drive.
You can try to format the HARD disk and to create the new NTFS partition.

    Another solution:
Usually, you can initialize the disk by DiskManagement.

In disk management, right-click the disk you want to initialize and then click on initialize disk.
In the dialog box initialize the disk, select the disk to initialize.
You can choose to use the master boot record (MBR) or the style of partition GUID partition table (GPT).

Once a disk is initialized, you can create partitions on it.
After you create a partition, you can format the partition to create a filesystem (NTFS).

  • Computer does not recognize LaCie external hard drive when it is connected.

Should I just a 'driver' of the manufacturer so that windows recognize? Help, please.

The device is a hard drive (250 gb) bought in 2006.   LaCie support has provided relevant solutions.

I disconnected the USB line, reconnected with the power of the unit it turned on and off while only plugged, unplugged, and made all possible combinations of many times. My computer does not recognize anything.

I can't find it in my computer, and also, the computer does not list the device in the Device Manager utility.

I have disabled the Windows Firewall.

The computer with which the external drive worked and one that currently does not recognize are model computers windows XP (2008).

Thank you very much for your help.

    Thanks for the reply.

In the meantime and after reviewing all similar positions, it turns out that find the 'live' usb device does the trick.

So, other people with similar problems, try the usb cables at the back of the computer (all), then by restarting the connection there.

    It worked for me.

    Thanks again for the reply!

  • My computer does not recognize my flash drive at all

In the past I was able to plug my USB key and use it (make changes, and save the information), now when I insert it, nothing happens. The screen displays just the desktop.    The computer does not recognize it.  I tried another drive flash with information on this subject, once again, nothing happened.  I need help how to fix this problem.  Thank you.

Sounds like your AutoPlay settings need to be adjusted.

    Something to try...

Insert the flash drive into a USB port and go... Start / my computer...

The flash player should be recognized by a drive letter...

Right-click on the drive letter and go... Properties / AutoPlay tab...
Left click on the button "Restore default settings" / apply / OK.

Now... Remove and re - insert the flash drive and see if there is an improvement.

And... the following Wizard may be worth a try:
